Liebe Community, mein InDesign stürzt immer ab, egal, ob ich eine neue Datei erstelle, diese später öffne oder eben eine Alte. Updates sind alle auf dem neusten Stand. Wisst ihr, woran das liegen könnte? Den Mac habe ich auch schon neu gestartet. Das Problem bleibt bestehen. Falls sich eine Datei doch kurz öffnen lässt, schließt sich InDesign sofort nach irgendeiner Tätigkeit... Es ist zum Verzweifeln.

How to select a set of shortcuts in a script

Hiya, I have a script I'm designing to automatically apply certain preferences (page size, orientation, etc) to meet in-house styling requirements. For each paragraph style, I have a function to add the paragraph style with the preferred font, font style, point size, etc. For example, here's part of one of the functions: //add table text paragraph stylefunction addTableTextPS(){    tableTextPS = myDocument.paragraphStyles.add({name: "table text"});    //font style    tableTextPS.appliedFont = "Arial";    tableTextPS.fontStyle = "Regular";    tableTextPS.pointSize = 9;    tableTextPS.leading = 10.5;     //and so on...} The last thing I'm missing, which is actually one of the most critical features, is the shortcut definition for each of the paragraph styles - without setting the shortcuts, sadly, the script will be useless. I'm currently working on a poetry book layout and I came up with this struggle:I have some long lines that don't fit in a single line and (without changing paragraph) and I'd like to have all of those extra lines automatically being right justified.I tried using nested line style, but I only manage to apply a different Character Style (not a paragraph one) on the second line.Is there a way to achieve what I need without having to manually format every "exceeding line"? To say it in other words I need to have all lines longer than the text box right justified.I hope I was clear enough (if not sorry, english is not my mother tongue).

I'm not really sure how to ask or word it. I'm making a photobook for class and I decided to do a Japanese stab binding method for it. Of course, this means I cant print normal 2up saddle stitch, so I need a margin in the paper for the spine and I've marked it out in the image. Splitting the image is the only thing that makes sense to make it work, but I was wondering if there was any specific way I can maybe do it without splitting the image in two? Like having it 8x8 facing pages but when printing add an extra inch but only the inner part, I guess. 

I’m trying to align wrapped lines of a paragraph under the text that comes after a label like this: But this: ‘Does a runner think they’re not a real runner until they run a marathon?Does a basketballer think they’re not a basketballer until they play in the Olympics?You become a writer by writing.’Right now, I can get it to look correct by using a Tab and then adding manual spaces, but I’d like to know the proper InDesign way to do this ?

I need InDesign 2022 for an older project.When I updated the recent version, I accidently clicked on delete older versions. Now my InDesign 2022 is gone and I can‘t download it anymore … Is calling Adobe Support the only solution? Cheers, thankful for any advice …

Hello, I need to search/replace text that is 6.7 pt. It's everywhere in my document, but when I run the search, InDesign can't find it. Are you familiar with this problem, and does anyone have any ideas on how to get around it? Thank you for your help!

I understand that it's possible to share a link to another person for editing. All this works but I can't edit in the shared link. It's just a view-only. The guides at Adobe does not seem to correlate to the options in the menu and incopy does not exist in web version. How do I solve this so it's possible to edit the text without using the indesign application?

Hello,I'm use Indesign 2021 (16.4.3) on MacBookPro M1 (2020 - 16 Go - Ventura 13.7.4) with Indesign plugins (EasyCatalog, FontAgentPro).Especially when I'm in VPN configuration, I find myself stuck and unable to open InDesign. Even after 5/6 minutes or/and have emptied the cache and preferences or run a shot of Onyx. Have you ever faced this problem?

I am using an M1 Macbook air on latest OS Sequoia. When I turn on overprint preview, the whole document becomes unresponsive. I am unable to turn it off, the cursor disappears and I can't click any objects on the document. The axis rulers move when I scroll but the actual document does not scroll. The only way to escape this is to restart the whole application. This seems about 60% of the time I use Overprint Preview, and typically when I am on GPU preview, and not on CPU. However Indesign performs much worse on CPU preview in my experience. Does anyone have an explanation for this? I can't find anything online. I have tried reinstalling and resetting preferences. As expected this has a pretty big impact on my workflow so would love to get it sorted out. Thanks!

I’m trying to open an InDesign project, but I get an error saying the file was created in a newer version of Adobe InDesign (version 21.0) and that I need to update to the latest version. The issue is that I am already running the most current version available in Creative Cloud. I’ve checked for updates, restarted InDesign, and rebooted my computer, but the message still appears and the file won’t open. InDesign gives me the option to convert the file, but when I click it, nothing happens. The "Convert File" button gets grayed out and never progresses, so I can’t access the file at all.Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a reliable workaround to open the file without losing data, or a way to force InDesign to recognize that it’s already updated?

I have a document (well, a set of documents) where I simply cannot get InDesign to use the correct quotes defined for certain text languages. The documents are bilingual, in Danish and English. The Danish text should use »inwards guillemets« for double quotes and ‘regular 69s’ for single quotes. The English text should use “regular 6699s” for double quotes and ‘regular 69s’ for single quotes. In Preferences → Dictionary, I have set quotes accordingly (for Danish here): It works as expected for paragraphs whose language is set to English: “double quotes” and ‘single quotes’. But regardless of what values I select in the Dictionary settings, in paragraph styles whose language is set to Danish, the automatic quote substitution consistently changes all quotation marks to German-style quotes: „double quotes“ and ,single quotes‘. In some, seemingly completely random, cases it even changes them to „lower lower„ – which is most definitely

Is there any way, when you have multiple documents open, to 'sync' the view (page, zoom level, scroll bar position) across every doc? Has anyone come across a script that can do this, or know of some other way to do it? If I could 'retrieve' the horizontal and vertical scroll bar positions somehow I could probably write a keyboard maestro macro that would do it.

Can someone explain why I can "sort of create" an iteractive form in indeisgn but I can't specify, date, phone number, Social Security number until I open it and change it in Adobe Acrobat? Why can't the properties features be a part of Adobe InDesign so that I can get the majority of it formatted inside InDesign. Additional Plugins? Mickey

Hi,  I will have a situation where there will be 3 PDFs of cards. The card takes up 2 pages as a PDF spread, the first being the outside of the card, the second the inside.  The outside and inside of the card can have a marking corresponding to a letter and number, say "1P, 2P, 3P, 4P, 5P" on the front and back. I wouldn't try to do the request here using different letters too.  However, there's a randomization within the 3 batches of PDFs, so instead of it being 1P, 2P, 3P for each front and back of the card, it's more like "1P, 3P, 7P, 8P", with a second PDF as "2P, 4P, 6P" and a third with "5P, 9P, 10P".  How can we merge these so eventually the order is "1P, 2P, 3P, 4P, 5P" on one PDF, and also so it's still the outside of the card and the inside of the card next to each other? Thanks!

Bonjour à tous, Je rencontre un problème depuis hier lors de l'ouverture de tous mes fichiers Adobe InDesign créés sous une version antérieure à la version 2026 (21.0), le message ci-dessous s'affiche : Lorsque je clique sur "Oui" pour la récupération de mes documents, cela coupe complètement InDesign. Et si j'essaie d'ouvrir mes fichiers sur l'ancienne version 2025, il me demande de convertir mon fichier car il n'est plus compatible (voir le message ci-dessous) :   Et lorsque j'effectue la conversion, je perds du contenu.  Si quelqu'un peut m'aider svp, merci beaucoup ! 

Bonjour,La boîte de dialogue "Appliquer un  gabarit aux pages..." du panneau Pages est extrêmement succincte, en particulier, le champ "Aux pages" ne possède comme choix préenregistré que "Toutes les pages". N'existe-t-il pas un moyen d'appliquer automatiquement un gabarit aux pages impaires (par exemple) sans devoir saisir manuellement la liste des pages 1,3,5,7,9, etc. ? Sur un document de 500 pages c'est un peu fastidieux !Merci d'avance pour toute aide utile 🙂

I have a very high contrast image, that looks great when I download it and look at it in preview, and even when placed in my CC libraries. However, whenever I place the image into InDesign, it loses the bright contrast that the original image contains. How do I fix this? I have looked over my specs and my display and color is set to RGB. Please help.  Attached is what it shows vs. what it SHOULD look like....

Following setup (all apps at most recent 2026 versions):indd with linked indd including vector ai files. when working cross platform (win and mac), the linked indd file needs to be opened and saved once in order for the vector files to export properly (otherwise they'll just export as white rectangles). once with the other platform again, the indd needs to be saved again for proper pdf export. 

I'm trying to figure out how to get "clean" anchored objects when pasting - e.g. pasted a graphics frame & have it take up "paragraph space" just like a paragraph would.In the example below, on the left, I'm pasting into the default paragraph style, and centering it.However, when I paste into a box with text that has a Paragraph Style applied, the box no longer behaves as expected, and overlaps the content above rather than taking up the vertical space as it does on the left.So, I'm assuming it's a setting in the paragraph style that's causing this - any ideas?Back to experimenting...Thanks  

Buongiorno a tutti, vi chiedo aiuto perchè sto impazzendo!! lo scorso anno ho sviluppato un listino con InD 2020, diviso in 3 files. Ho creato circa 1000 pulsanti per rimandare a pagine diverse utilizzando la funzione "vai a destinazione" >> segnalibro.Quest'anno ho riaperto i 3 files con InD 2024 e tutti i collegamenti sono "saltati", se seleziono il pulsante mi da questo errore "Impossibile aprire il file "DBTmp1269-2007323006". È possibile che Adobe InDesign non supporti questo formato di file, che manchi un plug-in che lo supporti o che il file sia attualmente aperto in un'altra applicazione." Qualcuno può aiutarmi a ripristinare i collegamenti? Grazie

Hallo Leute,folgendes Problem: normalerweise benutze ich solche shortcuts wie Command + Shift + Ecke ziehen, um den Rahmen samt den Inhalt proportional zu verändern. Oder wenn ich ein Bild kopieren will, dann drücke ich immer option + Bild ziehen, um eine Kopie vom Bild zu haben. Allerdings funktioniert das bei mir nicht mehr. Wenn ich Bilder proportional skalieren will mit dem Mauszeiger, dann drück ich den Shortcut, aber das einzige was ich verändere ist der blaue Rahmen, als ob die Tasten keine funktion mehr hätten. Oder wenn ich Bild perfekt nach unten verschieben will, dann drück ich eig immer shift, und dann rastert das die Bilder eig immer ein, aber dauch das geht nicht. Kopieren funktioniert auch nicht, obwohl der doppelte Pfeil bei gedrückter option-taste angezeigt wird.  Natürlich kann ich auch anders skalieren, bewegen, kopieren wie auch immer... aber ich habe mir mit meinen Methoden das so angeeignet und arbeite so am schnellsten, das würde ich gerne beibehalten.&
