InDesign

I am using InDesign 21.3, working on a simple 2 page file, I go to place a logo and the blue thinking wheel pops up and doesn’t go away. I can click and move things around but none of it is being “saved”. I close the file and click to close the program and it just sits there still open. I then have to force quit the program. When I relaunch the file opens with the software and everything I did while the wheel was spinning was not saved.It’s done this several times since the update and there is no pattern to why. I’m finding it randomly acting up. It’s really frustrating, especially when I’m not working on anything complicated.

 I’m a beginner photographer and I have a Nikon D3200 camera. However, I’ve submitted photos in several different styles, and they keep getting rejected due to quality issues. What are the problems with this image?  

In InDesign 2026 v21.6, where is Generative Fill (beta)? Is it gone? Is it renamed? My version of InDesign v21.6 does not show it anywhere.

InDesign update 21.5.1 for MAC will now not let me save or save as, new or existing documents to my network to any folder on my drive. I have done EVERYTHING suggested. Uninstall old, reinstall version just b4 the update, delete preferences, use Adobe Creative Cloud cleaner then clean install. All permissions are given to InDesign so it is not a security issue. I can save an IDML file to the network then I quit, reopen and open that IDML file and it will not let me save it. It is impossible to work efficiently at my job if I have to open, save to desktop, close, drag new ones to the network so the current version is there, only to open that new version and be unable to save it for something stupid like when exporting a PDF. Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator files still can be saved to the network after update without issue. There have been zero changes to my network since the update. I came to work, it was working fine, I had time so updated it, restarted, opened it to continue working

Recently I’ve noticed in InDesign this blue circle with a “T” is on all of my photos. Is there a way to shut this off so I don’t have to look at the description of my photos?  I don’t need this when creating projects.Thanks in advance. 

Is there a workaround for editable Japanese text (vertical) in the English version of InDesign?I came across an article from 2017 mentioning that I'd need to install the Japanese version of InDesign to work with vertical text. Apparently, there's also a nine-step hack involving installing and uninstalling different language versions to enable vertical text in the English version of InDesign.Is this still the case? It seems a bit odd, especially since vertical text is readily available in Adobe Illustrator.I've tried creating the Japanese portions of my layouts in Illustrator and copying and pasting them into InDesign, but the vertical text reverts to horizontal. If I copy the text along with an additional object, the vertical orientation is preserved, but InDesign treats it as a graphic, making the text non-editable.Is there a non-destructive way to preserve both the vertical orientation and text editability when pasting from Illustrator? That would be a much better workaround than goi

I am assembling a book and have discovered some text crossing columns as shown on the attachment. I have no clue as to how it happened, or how to fix it. I have used indesign since verrsion 2 and have never seen this before. Can anyone help?Thanks to those who know more than me,Joe

Constrain proportions for width and height in InDesign 2025 (20.0) is broken. In previous versions of InDesign the constrain-status would stay the way you selected always, now you have to link it every time you scale something, it's quite annoying and adds an extra step to workflow.   <Title renamed by MOD>

After updating to Indesign 21.6 the ‘go to next page’ and ‘go to previous page’ buttons stopped working when I export my file to an interactive pdf. I have tried everything, even saving my file to .idml.It has always worked fine and I have used it for years, but suddenly it doesn’t function anymore. Which really dissappointed one of my biggest clients.I assume it is a bug, can you please fix this?Mirjam

Over the last week or so everytime I launch InDesign I am met with the attached dialog box. "You cannot reverse this change with the Edit > Undo command" It is persistent and getting worse. It will now launch randomly whilst I'm working. It is making InDesign almost unusable and destroying my worklfow and concentration. How on earth can I stop this occuring? I've tried Resetting Warning Dialogs to no avail. I've seen this posted elsewhere without any solution. Can someone at Adobe please respond – its driving me nuts.

HiEach time I import an image into Indesign, the image loads okay, but I get the blue swirling ‘loading’ icon that never stops. I can save my document, and the menus still work but I can’t work on the actual page, and the only way I can clear it it to Force quit Indesign using Task Manager. This started about 2 weeks ago, and was fine before and I haven’t made any changes to my PC. I thought maybe it started after an update of Indesign, so I tried reverting to an older version, but still had the same problem.I have tried re-installing Indesign. (version21.3)  I use Windows 11.I really hope you can help please?Thanks Chris

I installed Adobe 2026 on my imac. Now undo doesn’t work. It’s permanently grayed out. ID 21.2 on a Retina 5K running Ventura 13.7.8. If you look at screen shot, I can’t undo the neon effect I made or undo the letter ‘M’ I deleted. I’m opening 2025 ID to see if that helps.

I’ve had to delay publication because of a critical problem and my entire business depends on fixing it in the next two days or less.Last year the on-screen-only PDF version topped out about 67 MB. Big but manageable. This year it’s over 165 Mb. This year was slightly bigger (a few more pages added but all vector animations and text). The size of the full .indd file went up from about 490 Mb to 692 MB. When I save-as it reduces to 386 until it’s opened.Adding about a dozen vector images and text frames shouldn’t add 100 MB to a PDF, when downsampling is deeply constricted in size reduction (96/144, Medium resolution). I have an absolute ton of internal and external hyperlinks, cross-references and so on. Graphics aside from the cover are reasonably small for the most part, although there may be a handful that are a bit bigger.What can I check and compress to make this a lot smaller? My hosting server will not allow a file that big, and I doubt my customers want a 1

My mac mini M2 running MacOS Sequoia 15.5 won't voice read text I've typed into an Indesign document. All it says is "Adobe stock 2025" whether I have the cursor in the text box or have text highlighted to be voice read. How do I get my Mac mini M2 running MacOS Sequoia 15.5 to voice read the text I've typed with a True Type font in Indesign. I've  retyped in Indesign using an Open Type and the same thing happens.

Since `IDataBase::Clone()` is not marked "For Private Use Only," is it safe to use?

I’m on an iMac working in InDesign 20.1.1 and I have a table set up in a booklet that I had to squish vertically. Lots of copy was being added, which meant additional rows and the table was flowing off the bottom.  The only way to force the table to be the size for the page was to compress it vertically. When I did that, the horizontal lines were also altered.I tried to fix the horizontal stroke lines so they were consistently .05” stroke weight, but no matter how I tried to do it it WILL NOT change them ‘globally’. Meaning, when I select/highlight the entire table, try to change just the bottom stroke to .05” to make the lines all the same ( as on other pages), it will appear as though I’ve changed it but when I highlight individual row, it’s not. I’ve had to go through and highlight/select each and every row to make this change which is INFURIATINGLY stupid.And I tried this three different ways:First manually, as described above - no global change Second, I selected/highlighted the w

Recently updated to InDesign 20.1. When I click on any box or shape, text or picture it takes 10-15 seconds before it shows that it is selected. Sometimes I can move/edit the box although it doesn't have the blue lines indicating it is selected. Other times, I can not. Selecting multiple items often crashes InDesign. Today I selected to text boxes and a picture. Crash. As a result to the time killing aspect of the update, I have had no choice but to revert to InDesign 2024. (19.5.2), which you might imagine, is also an inconvenience.  I am running Sonoma 14.4.1 on M1, 2021 iMac with 16 Gb Ram. 

I am using InDesign 21.6 on Mac. When I open the Paragraph Style Options and I want to edit the Font family, the dropdown menu seems to be bigger than my actual screen, and I cannot scroll all the way to the end of the list. See screenshot below.I am using a two screen setup: an external monitor as the main screen, and the built-in MacBook screen as a secondary, underneath the external one. However, the dropdown also does not extend to the MacBook screen. Is this a bug in InDesign or can I adjust some settings to fix this issue?Thanks in advance!   

I'm not completely opposed to generative AI (won't get into my opinion on it personally), but Adobe really needs to stop shoving these half-baked features in our faces. Why on earth, while editing a text document on InDesign, would I need to see a pop-up suggesting "text-to-image" AI features? It's literally blocking what I'm working on and I have to close the dialogue.

Hi all!I would like to swap the left and right pages. What is the fastest way to do this in InDesign 2026? The background needs to remain in place; only the text, red shapes, white text, and images with white borders should be flipped and swapped between pages.Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello everyone.This image has been inserted into the text and contains unnecessary frames.Now I just want to keep the innermost image and outermost frame, delete the remaining extra frames, and keep the image in its original inserted state in the text.Can it be implemented using scripts?Thanks

FAME-TO-CONNECT); ）It seems to have no effect on width.I guess this involves two steps:Firstly, set the text frame to automatically adjust to: height and width, without line breaks.Secondly, set the text frame to automatically adjust to 'none'.I don't know, is this safe?or , Is there still a better idea?
