After importing three large files of raw images, I noticed that the files were not visible in the Folders section. This was a considerable surprise ,as I've been using Lr for 15 years plus and never experienced this before.I thought that I had done something wrong and tried to import the files again. This was not possible as the Lr import window showed the file images (stored on my Mac) , but these swiftly greyed out prior to hitting the import tab.Under normal circumstances, this would suggest to me that the files have already been imported and in the catalogue. There is however a folder called Volumes at the bottom of the folder window (see screenshot) with an exclamation mark in it, which holds 30,237 images .Could this possibly be the three large files I am looking for?As you can see, the right facing triangle is greyed out , hence making it impossible to open to see the subfolders .Does anyone know how to open this file please or is there another cause of this issue ?If so, any guid
iMac Pro (2017) Sequoia 15.7.7, SSD 2 TB with 778 GB available. Catalog on SSD. Upgrade from LR 13.3. Images on external drives.
I lost all off my catalogues due to an external disk failure . This means Lightroom will not open I have tried to create a new catalogue but Light room still refuses to open. I've reinstalled Lightroom as per adobes instructions but Lightroom still refuses to open. My next step is to completely remove all Lightroom data on the PC and do a completely clean install of Lightroom starting all over again. Any advice on this approach?
I'm having some issues with the HDR feature in Lightroom Classic. When I select the HDR feature in lightroom and export the image, with HDR export selected, the exported image does not look like the HDR preview. It looks like the 'Preview for SDR display' option. I'm working on an m1 pro macbook with macOS Ventura which supports HDR. I thought maybe it was just the preview app so I moved it to the photos app and activated HDR display but no look, still looks like the SDR preview. I have also tried looking at the image on my phone and uploading to instagram, both of which are supposed to support HDR but neither display it properly which makes me think the issue is with the lightroom export. Anyone know how to correctly display HDR images?
Lightroom will not open and crashes immediately.
I have a Mac but my operating system (Ventura 13.7.8) is no longer supported and I am unable to upgrade Lightroom. However, export to PS has always worked up until now. LR version is 14.5.2
I posted this question two years ago and didn’t get a useful response - reposting it here as the topic has now been closed for replies. two years later - with the help of ChatGPT - I finally worked out what was going on …..the root cause: ~/Documents was a dangling immutable symlink left behind by Dropbox Mac Backup after migration to a new Mac. Lightroom Classic failed during startup because it could not create/access the standard Documents directory (AgPathUtils.getStandardFilePath: can't create directory at /Users/eugenieshinkle/Documents).the solution: Removed the immutable flag from the symlink (chflags -h nouchg), removed the dangling symlink, allowing macOS to recreate a normal ~/Documents directory. Lightroom then launched normally and continued to function correctly across restarts.I’d love to know if anyone has seen this before
Windows 11Lightroom 15.4.1I have recently enabled ‘Automatically write changes into sidecar files (XMP/ACR)” - mainly as a safety net in leu of other issues, but that is not relevant here.It took a while for LR to complete the saving of all metadata files - probably 12 hours (259K files in the catalog).I just loaded LR, edited one image in PS and saved. It appeared in LR and then I clicked CLOSE on LR. It warned me that Metadata processing was still busy. I checked the status and 843 files are being processed. The folder I have open only has 744 images.I used Resource Monitor to check what files lightroom.exe was accessing - and it is lots of MP4/MOV/AVI files ... in folders unrelated to the folder I was viewing at the time.I have repeated this and seem similar activity each time. It’s not a problem - but i wonder why it needs to scan video files at all? and why it does this regardless of the images I am working on.
Merci

tried different folders, always same result. Lots of space available on the drive.A technician did manage to resolve it 18 months ago but the fix only lasted a week.I think its something to do with Google drive as it used to try and back up to it.I also continually get this:When I export photos any AI based edits I’ve made frequently do not export so I have to do them again in the hope it works. Thak you for any help
I’m on a MacBook Pro M5, system Tahoe 26.1 I just moved the LR catalog to an external drive. The picture files were duplicated onto the same external drive. When I open the catalog, it can’t find any pictures, so I show it where the local picture files are. The pictures all show up, but the stacks are expanded and I the stacking submenu is greyed out.

These are not duplicates photos. When I go to import I select a source and then I choose the folder nothing shows.I have tried restating Lightroom and my computer, trying different drives, nothing works. Lightroom isn’t seeing any images on my computer/ drives.
I am wanting to edit some images in a particular folder in Lightroom. When looking at the folder in File Explorer there are almost 100 image files in the particular folder. However, Lightroom only sees 22 files. I've selected the folder and tried both IMPORT and SYNCHRONIZE however nothing happens. How do I fix this?
SystemLightroom Classic 15.4.1 macOS 26.5.2 Intel Core i5 iMac AMD Radeon Pro 5300 (4GB VRAM) 72GB RAMIssueSince updating to Lightroom Classic 15.4.1, Generative Remove has become extremely slow. Even a very small brush stroke (for example removing a tiny newborn skin blemish) can take over 4 minutes to complete. The standard Remove tool works normally.Troubleshooting completedI have tested all of the following:New Lightroom catalogue. Existing catalogue. Catalogue stored on internal SSD. RAW files stored on external HDD. Camera Raw cache purged. Catalogue optimised. GPU enabled. GPU disabled. Lightroom restarted. Mac restarted. Different images.None of these resolved the issue.I also compared the exact same RAW file and edit on an Apple Silicon MacBook running the same Adobe account. Generative Remove completed much faster on the MacBook. Most important findingI installed Lightroom Classic 15.3.1 and repeated the same Generative Remove test on the same Intel iMac.Generative Remove is si
It just won’t open.
Just spend a little time udating font settings and give us more control how the boxes display in library side. Show us you still plan on keeping us around in 10 years. I know it’s the idea to get everything to the cloud but problem is us old timers and maybe so now new comers are figuring it out, we don’t want our personal images on the internet on someone else’s servers. Who knows what will happen and all it takes is a wind storm to disconnect you from your entire life’s collection. Not permanently, at least not so far but shows you how easy this would be to achieve. Keep it local and keep it personal. Let us know you care about LRC please. If there was a single option like Capture One that could handle a 300k library as efficient as LRC, I’d move over in an instant. You should think about that and make that decision a little more difficult because Capture One or someone WILL eventually catch up (I Hope).
It’s not that the thumbnails are slow to display; they never display until they are selected. Images are stored on an external drive. The catalog is on the iMac SS.

LRC will not open
See horizontal and vertical line on right. half of the pictureThe artifacts (lines) became visible in a part of the pictured that I repaired with the Remove - Generative AI tool. The artefact only appears if Denoise AI is applied as well. Disabling one of them, makes the artefact dissapear. No other edits applied. Camera is Sony RX10iii, cRAW (.ARW file).Lightroom version 15.4.1macOS Tahoe 26.5.2
