Background- I'm a product photographer in the automotive industry and generate JPEG images for internal and external customers. Capture is in CR2 format; I retouch the original RAW files and use Save for Web to create the finished JPEG. Photos typically have a clean white background (255,255,255). Problem- Even with the highest quality settings, there are color artifacts/halos along edges where there should only be white pixels. I cannot switch to another format such as PNG or HEIF either. Idea- The JPEG encoding algorithm should look for contiguous color (especially white and black) in the original and make sure that encoded blocks actually remain that color. Artifacts and color halos both increase file size and reduce quality. You already do color fringing removal in Camera RAW so why not here? Background is the original edited CR2 file, upper left JPEG SFW@100% quality, lower left PNG-24 SFW, lower right JPEG SFW@50% quality. Save As gives essentially the same results as Save
Why there is no align window in Photoshop? The workflow would be more easy if there was an align window as like as Illustrator in Photoshop.
Hello, I have a suggestion which is implemented on other programs. Currently, when creating a brush preset, you can choose only one brush shape, but there is no way to select multiple brush shapes. This will be very useful, for example, when painting grass, you can create a brush preset which has multiple grass shaped brushes, with each stroke, a random shape is drawn. This will be very helpful. thank you.
A filter that automatically removes/reduces repeating patterns like raster patterns or paper texture. It would be of great help for anyone who ever encounters a scanned image with a repeating pattern (typical for image restoration work or when the only source for an image is a printed copy).Before/after example (click to see gif animation): How to make such a filter: This can be done by doing a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to split an image into frequency components. The frequencies that make up repeating patterns will stand out and can be removed (today we do this manually with a black brush, but a filter can remove the "peaks" automatically). And inverse FFT is then performed to transform the image back. This entire process can be automated into one step; perhaps just with a slider to let the user choose how aggressively the filter removes frequencies.I posted a detailed explanation here with a short tutorial on how this is done step by step.Note that this only works on a single chann
I have a problemi create a script Select file and auto fill into pad frame ..its working fine .but when I multiple files selec it's all selected files open script not work . Is it possible ? Selected files one by one open apply action and close then next file open .Please help me in this problum.
SO i had to use photoshop today (latest, April 2022), and i ended up pulling my hair out over the MESS of save methods...Why on earth can we not have ONE save button, that opens ONE dialog window with options... i'm always clicking Save As, or Save a Copy, or Export... cursing photoshop, opening one of the others, searching AGAIN for what i need, going back to one of the others, getting a request for a different file type, searching AGAIN through... Its almost as if the interface designers (or fiddlers) have NEVER seen their customers using the software ?!?!?!?! An accusation thats been presented MANY times over the years. Surely not ?!?!?!
I can't draw any BORDERS instead using "stroke". "Selection" can be used now but it is so frustrating. Thank you for releasing web version anyway.
Hey Team Adobe PhotoShop,I've a request to Adobe PhotoShop team. I've been using adobe PhotoShop since 2010. But still illustrator is having a better "stroke control" in graphics design. Can you please do some magic in PhotoShop as well to have much more better control in "Stroke" in your next update?? That will be life-saving for us. You guys are just amazing. I know you guys will bring out something on this issue. For that, take love from the core of my heart. Thank you guys and love you so much.
An ”Instance Layer” would be a linked copy of a layer, that inherits all edits.Like a light version of ”Smart Object”. Why?- You make a copy of a layer, to mix it in with another blendmode. With an ”Instance Layer”, edits in the layer would not require to remake the copy.- Reuse layer in different groups.- File size will be smaller. ”Instance Group” is next step.”Instance Mask” maybe?
Is there any timeline to let us know when Photoshop on the web be available for school accounts?
I use a 13 inch Wacom cintiq with touch turned off because of imperfect palm rejection.I have Apple's Magic trackpad 2 right next to it, and I thought it would be great to pan, rotate and zoom my canvas, but it turns out each action is independant and it doesn't really work so well. For example, if I try to rotate with two fingers, the action is not always detected as a rotation, it takes a second before the rotation image appears and then it's relatively difficult to rotate more than 30 degrees in one gesture. It would be nice if there was a way to enable trackpad manipulation that resembles what you can do in Procreate on iPad, where you can naturally move, zoom and rotate with your fingers in one move. I hope this makes sense, I think this could be a very pleasant surprise to some users, an unexpected wow moment when they realize they didn't know they needed this so bad 😛
Auto Save as PSBWith the new cameras and the large amount of detail in raw files, once edited in PS, the resultant image is very large. Having to constantly selected PSB is a big waste of time. If there was a way to auto save the file as a PSB file format then the editing and saving process would be streamlined. Right now it is just cumbersome. Please ADOBE, add a choice of PSB to the methods by which we can auto save each image. Thanks
The feature would allow you to open up a web page as a layer. Allowing limited adjustments, like opacity, layer styles etc. The main purpose of this would to be able to pull up visual assets on the fly for refrences. In my current workflow I will pull refrences into my canvas. This involves copying from a web page pasting it into photoshop and repeating this over and over for each refrence. With the ability to browse the web it would shorten the process by a huge margin and would make the workflow anyone who deals with this dramatically faster.
Currently when we want to open or import a multilayer PDF in Photoshop, all the layers are automatically merged. It would be absolutly fantastic to be able to keep all the layers when openned in photoshop, and also to keep the name of the layers. Exemple of workflow: to transform a drawing for technical purpose made with Autocad to a nice colorized drawing for communication purpose with Photoshop. (An architectural drawing produced in Autocad (Autodesk), then exported to PDF with multilayer, and then openned in photoshop with all the layers would make a process of drawing "colorization" very effective. Currently the only option is to export - import layer on by one.)
Is the effects option available on web?
In Photoshop 2022, the exporter currently closes after a single export. I don't understand that; I typically need to export an image in multiple resolutions for my clients. I think that the exporter should stay open until I manually close it; not close after an export. That way, when I need to export at three or four resolutions, I can just set the resolution and export and repeat, rather than set the resolution, export, exporter closes, open exporter, repeat. It may seem like a minor inconvenience, but for me it is a really annoying.
Can Content-aware fill be made available as an option in the Canvas extension dropdown within the Canvas Size window? This would save multiple steps in a common workflow.
MPO files are basically two layer jpeg's used in 3D photography. These two layers represent the left and right view of the 3D image. I regularly open MPO's in Photoshop for editing. The problem is...Adobe has been treating these simple layered jpegs as some kind of 3D object that needs to be rendered. Adobe has made clear that they are removing their 3D processing from Photoshop and it looks like MPO support may suffer from that.Please...Separate MPO's from "3D" and allow us to open them directly; as the simple two layer jpeg that they are. They never needed that extra "3D anaglyph" processing.
Here’s a suggestion for improving Photoshop- if I have an open image, and I copy it, and paste it on top of another open image in Photoshop, then the pasted layer would retain the name of the copied and pasted image, instead of being called the generic Layer 1. This should be doubly true if that copied image has been already named (changed from “Background” into a named layer. If I have named an open image, I copy it and paste it into another document, it would save me time and avoid possible issues later if it kept its original name in that layer. Thanks
E.g.: sometimes we need to blur the image, but not the Layer Mask, or the other way around
As in title the touch gestures should have the ability to changed on desktop. For example the scrub undo and redo is WAY to fast. What I really want is the ability to tap once with two fingers to undo. Both Procreate and Photoshop on iPad both have this function and its part of my workflow so much that it is now second nature. Funny story, I drew traditionally recently and two finger tapped to undo and it took a second to work out why nothing happened, that's how used to it I am.
Hi! In current versions (23.2.2 and slightly previous) when selecting a new file type (TIF, PNG, JPG, PSB, etc.) in the Save/Save As dialogue boxes, when changing the file type the "Embed Color Profile: ...)" radio box automatically deselects. This means that I have to take my hand off of the keyboard and put it on the mouse, and that takes time. Sometimes time I don't have. As a printer, I always want that option to stay selected. Allowing other apps to assign color profiles is... problematic! In previous versions, the radio box would stay selected, although in some cases it wouldn't automatically populate if the color profile hadn't been assigned during the in-app workflow. It would be great if there were a way in preferences/color management to force embedding of color settings on Save/Save As so that I could remove this step from my workflow. Thanks! Rock on!
I have been trying to find a way to import brushes to the new Photoshop for I-pad program, but I can't find a way. It seems like it's supported in it's sister-program Fresco, but somehow didn't get the support in Photoshop? I find this hard to believe since it is an essential part of Photoshop and one of the best features of photoshop.
It would be nice to have a tool that can both select by dragging and tapping at the same time that closes the selection when hit enter or select somewhere close to start point. It would make little selections much faster and easier.
HiPlease color link icon for linked layers so remember which layers are linked to gather.thanks
