Photoshop Elements

I recently purchased a new laptop and had to buy the Photoshop Element 2021 through the MS Store.  I am trying to create a watermark but cannot get the Define Brush to work, it stays greyed out.  My pixel size is not too big as I chose 1000x200.  Tried decreasing to 800x200 but still can't choose it.  I'm getting very frustrated as I was able to create a test twatermark on my older version (v6) on my previous laptop.  What am I doing wrong?

My PE8 does not work any more on my Mac since I updated my OS to 10.13.6 and it has 64-bit system. I suppose my only option is to get a 64-bit version of PE, but can I download it for free or do I have to buy this new version?And if I may download a substitutive PE for free, what version would it be? The oldest I suppose but that would serve me fine! But I believe I have to buy my new PE.My PE8 came along with my Canon scanner, included in the purchase 

I have bought elements 2021 for a relative and want to know if they can sign in to my account and download it on their machine?? I thought I could send the code but it appears not.

Hi,I have a new install of Photoshop Elements 2021 on a new Win10 PC.After importing *.jpg files from a Samsung phone, only some of the photos are shown in the Organizer view, even if all photos are stored in the folder.However, when using the Photo Editor, all photos are shown correctly in the File Open dialogue. I opened one of the "hidden files" in Photo Editor and saved it with a different name, this photo then displays in Organizer.I have checked that View/Hidden Files/ is set to Show All Files. Any suggestions? 

I purchased Photoshop Elements for Windows in 2019 and have now purchased a MacBook laptop. I know you can install it on two computers but do I need to purchase again for Mac or can I install one on Windows computer and one on a Mac?

Hello, What are the default brush sets installed in PSE 2020 and where are they installed? I'm using PSE 2020 in Windows 10. I somehow have gotten my brushes all screwed up. I've added several downloaded brush sets to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2020\Presets\Brushes". But now, I'm seeing duplicate brush sets in the brush selector drop-down menu. Some of the brush sets that I've added I really will never use - I just added them so I could see what they were. I want to delete these unneeded brush sets but I don't want to delete any of the default brush sets. Is there a list of the installed default brush sets in PSE 2020? Thanks for your help! 

Trying to learn Elements Organizer from a book that tells me to select a stack of photos of People "and then drag them to the Family group in the Groups panel." Yes, the people stacks seem like they are as they should be and there is a line called "Family" in the Groups panel. No matter where or how I click and drag a stack nothing happens and nothing appears in the group named family, or anywhere else.I have search online help and pored over Preferences but can't find a clue why this isn't working. Is there some other setting I have to change or is this yet another devilish "upgrade"?

Hi i bought PSE2020 via the Microsoft Store last year. I now have a new laptop and wish to uninstall/reinstall so i can dispose of the old machine.BUT.... Microsoft Store no longer lists PSE2020, nor recogises that i have bought it. I have no paperwork, the software shows no serial numbers, codes etc or a place to enter them (it arrived ready to go) , Adobe does not recognise i own it, and the 'find my serialisation' doesn't help ( i never told Adobe i owned it, and didn't use them to download/install). i can't even find a way to contact Adobe via the Support pages as the Contact Us button does not work! i am totally baffled! Does anyone have any ideas? ThanksChris

Hello,I am considering purchasing Photoshop Elements 2021 after my CC subscription lapsed last year. Previously, I used Photoshop CC to convert videos into GIFs for my blog. If I purchase PSE21 will it still have the functionality for me to convert video files to GIFs, or should I purchase Photoshop CC again? Alternatively, is there a better option (like Premiere Elements)?

Adobe Photoshop Elements is not letting me sign in. Tells me "Sign in required". I enter email and password and it brings me back to the same window.  I've tried changing passwords.  I've tried connecting my Adobe account to my Apple account and using my apple password. Nothing works

I had had every version of Elements from day one with Facial Recognition turned on.  I'm now using Elements 2021.  The quality of the recognition is very poor.  I have 55,000 photos and have spent a few hundred hours of manually correcting the Elements guess on who the face is.  I'm up to 200 names identified.  But, 25,000 unrecognized faces to go.  I won't live long enough to ID 1/2 of them.  Most of the unidentified are of single faces.  One half of the 25,000 faces are not faces but sections of walls, floors, sky etc.  Is there a way to get a re-run of the analizer on the unrecognized without loosing the hundreds of hour I've already spent cleaning them up?  

I have reverted to Photoshop Elements 9 because I was so irritated by the "improvments" of a later version. I now want to update it but repeatedly I get the error message "Photoshop Camera Raw 6.5 UpdateThere was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." This imples it is somehow my fault that I can't download the update. Very annoying. Is there a workaround? 

I have Elements 15 running under Windows 10.  If I attempt to open a file in the Expert mode, I get a tiny fraction of the file in the upper left corner of the panel.  I also have the photo in the photo bin and it exists as the background layer in the layers panel.  I have never seen this before and have no idea what to do with it.   I can drag this tiny file until it fills the screen, but then I still have no idea what to do.  If I cancel this photo everything goes away.  When opening in the Expert mode, the "Place" open selecction is inactive. If I open the file in the Quick mode, everything appears normal.  If I then switch to Expert mode and the file is a PSD, all the layers are there and I can do all of the edit functions that I have used in the past.   I can't remember when I last used the Expert mode--may last spring. Thanks, John Mueller

I am using PSE 2020 and I have never had a problem importing old geneology photos and newspaper clippings into editor from my Cannon 9000f.  Yesterday about 1 in 5 scans were coming through as photos.  Today no matter what I do I get a broken thumbnail instead of the photo.  I can open the scans in my geneology program without a problem.  If I try to import from that folder into PSE, the same thing happens.  It even happens when I scan through PSE.    Moved from Using the Community (which is about the forums) to the correct forum... We are new to Adobe Elements and are stuggling to quickly find help on individual features.  When we bring up the help for Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements, or Elements Organizer, we are taken online where we see the main page.  We also see the left navigation menu for the contents of the manual. Unfortunately, the only search feature we see is at the top of the page.  The search field searches for all apps and other website information.  If we include "Photoshop Elements" in the search it is a little more specific, but still is not searching just the manual.  How in the world do we confine our search to just the manual for the application we are using?

I work with PSE 2018 on WIN10/64bitUsing scriptingListener I have recorded some steps. After working on a multi-layered file in Photoshop Elements 2020, flattening the layers and saving as a TIFF file, the thumbnail of the image only shows one of the original layers, not the flattened image. However, if I then fully open the image in PSE, the correct full image is shown. It appears the only way to get a correct thumbnail image is to open the image, copy and save on a new document.Kindly advise if there is a setting in PSE to correct this or is this a fault within PSE.I run this on 64 bit Windows 10.

Hi, I recently installed PE2021 and imported about 50K images.  I'm in the process of naming faces and have completed about 5K.  I've used the software for about 10 sessions so far and backed up the catalog a couple of times.  The response time for the application has been very slow which I've tolerated so far. However, I've now encountered system freezes/hangs on the last 4 attempts of using the application which has cause me to do a hard restart of my system each time.  The application is now longer usable because it causes my system to freeze when I try to use photoshop elements 2021. This last time trying to use the application I encountered a software xcepion error xe8 and then got prompted to repair Creative Cloud, which I clicked on to do the repair.  However, the system again froze after that. I am running windows intel i5 windows 10 8GB/RAM. What other repair action do you recommend? 

When I drag and drop and image from the photo bin into my layout in the workspace, I position my cursor in the layers panel on the layer below where I want the new image to be placed. However, PSE 2018 puts it somewhere totally different and I then have to drag it to where I want it - see screenshot for an example. This is very frustrating if I have lots of layers.  In PSE14 this never happened but happens all the time in PSE18. What is wrong? I'm using PSE18 on a Macbook Pro.

Is there an automated way with Elements Organizer 2021 to set the "Date Created" equal to "Date Time Original"?

In order to run scripts (macros) in Photoshop Elements, we had to load the Adobe ScriptListener plugin.  Each time we open Photoshop Elements, two scripting log filess are generated on the desktop.  They are distractful on the desktop and periodically need to be deleted anyway. We do not see any way to redirect the default location for these files.  Does someone know if the default path for these log files can be changed to somewhere else?

ROUNDED CORNERS – We want matching rounded corners to crop or frame an image.  The problem with the Cookie Cutter tool is that the corners are fine if we cut out a square.  However, if we extend the cutter to a rectangle, the rounded corners become skewed in favor of the longer side.  It is no longer a symmetrical rounded corner.  Ideally, we would be able to select the rounding radius for all corners regardless of the size or shape.  How do we set the tool so that all the corners match?

PROBLEM:  When we drag a frame to a photo (the layer is active), the frame will not frame in the picture.  It simply adds the frame and requests we drag a picture to the frame.  Why wouldn't the frame be attaching itself to the picture?  Most articles indicate that this is a simple operation of dragging the frame to the photo on that layer. OBSERVATION:  The only thing we can think of, is that the picture may have had a bevel added at some point, though we don't seem to see one.  Could this be an issue.  If so, how can we clear the layer of any other effects that might interfere with a frame? Thank you for any help.
