Ello, I'm working on a heavy project in after effects, using a lot of greyscale content for masks etc, which made me wonder:what single channel image formats does AE support?if it supports any, does it internally handle them as single channel textures? or is it treating them as rgb under the hood, in other words, does it make use of the 3x perf increase of only having to calculate 1 channel instead of 3?

I hope Adobe will buy the code for zaxwerks invigorator and proanimator. These plugins are far superior to c4dlite (which functions mainly as an advertisement for the full version of c4d). I've used most of the major 3d apps and I would not pick c4d for better quality work. I do most of my work in Houdini, but loved the benefits from easy and fast rendering g of zaxwerks plugins when they worked. Unfortunately with newer osx versions they are too old to work.

For some reason the "Center Anchor Point in Layer Content" function is not working. I have restarted the software several times. I have restarted my computer as well. Whether I am using the keyboard shortcut or I am going into Layer > Transform > Center Anchor Point in Layer Content, it does not do anything. I even have preferences set to automatically center the anchor point to the content when I create a shape layer. After Effects is still not centering the anchor point though. Anyone else have this issue? 

Hello, my application was deleted. I had a video that I have been working on for 1 month. Since my application was deleted, I cannot access the video because I did not save it to the video. I searched a lot on YouTube and Google but I could not find anything. What should I do? I would be glad if you could help me.

Bonjour, J'ai actuellement un problème quand j'essaye de faire un tracking. Le bouton "appliquer" ne peut pas être sélectionné alors que j'ai déjà tout track.La seule forme de tracking ou le bouton "appliquer" s'affiche c'est quand je sélectionne stabilisation. Hors là j'essaye de faire le suivi d'un objet dans ma vidéo mais impossible d'appliquer une fois le tracking finis. je suis sur macbook M1.

My green cache bar is not loading fully and it is causing the video to lag when I play it back. Whenever I render it and it saves it is completely fine and plays through smoothly but in after effects it doesn't. I don't know what the problem is.

Hey guys, Im trying to use the " track Camera" option but it keep telling me "After Effects error: This effect cannot be applied because it cannot be initialized. Try reinstalling or contacting the plug-in developer.        (25 :: 3)"  Im not sure what to do. does anyone know how to fix this issue?   Title edited by Mod.

My original painting has tree A close up, and tree B far away near the horizon. In After Effects, I will position tree B on the Z axis so it's far away from the camera, then rescale it to match the proportions of my original painting. Two questions:1. In the context of my painting, tree B is hundreds of yards away from tree A. How far should I position it on the Z axis? 2. Can you tell me a math formula that tells me the exact number I need to rescale the object based on how far I positioned it on the Z axis? Thank you.

I have AI files where both layer content and artboards are 1920x1080. But when I import them into After Effects both comps and footage come in as 192x108px documents. I have done this type of importing for years and I've never seen or heard of this. Each Illustrator file I import was previously exported from a master AI with numerous artboards. The outputted AI files that I'm importing only have 1 artboard each.

Hey guys, I am working on a composition with motion graphic titles. I created a title that came from the left side to right. After submitting my project, my boss asked me to flip it to come from the right side to left. The issue is, this is pre-made motion graphic, where all of it's effects, shapes, everything is made to come from it's original left to right motion. I tried the whole distort - transform - scale - -100degrees, but that just flipped it over and messed up the characters of the words to read backwards. Then I manually flipped over the words, but soon after, I realized that the rest of the stuff was out of place bc it isn't supposed to be going right to left. Basically, I am desperate for some help. Is there an easy way to flip this? Do I need to be looking at rearranging key frames or something? HELP!

I've been trying to render an animation that has a layer with the alpha stencil turned on (for small fluid/wave-like effect) and extract effect. It's my first time using alpha stencil, I'm not sure why the animation isnt showing up in the render even if I turn on RGB+alpha in the Quicktime render setting. These are my settings (adjustment layer) (This is the one inside the precomp Ripples)   I want this to show up after the vid renders But I only get this in my render (the small waves aren't showing up)Thank you so much! 

I noticed once I've changed this, It will not allow me to change it back to default, or any other preset for that matter.  *update I can change this setting via the composition settings, but it does not work from the view menu once it's been activated there. *update* Ok, my appologies I feel like an idiot now. I have my workspace setup to where my composition is on it's own monitor, so I had the timeline selected and not the comp window!

But I'm getting the following error: "setFont needs exactly 1 argument".

Hi there, I've been having an issue with AE 25.1.0 where I've been gettting the "Low memory warning" orange banner in my comps even though the timeline shows that the frames are cached (with blue and green lines).My play back is stuck on a loop for 2 - 3 frames and won't progress until I purge the cache. Once I've purged the cache I'll have playback until I change something (anything), in which case I need to purge the case again. When I purge the cache in these instances I usually ending up purging less than 500mb of memory.Is anyone else having this issue with 25.1.0 or do you think is hardware related?My specs:- Apple M1 Pro, 16gb RAM My AE settings: - Disk cache: 300gb- 3GB RAM reserved for other applications (13gb for AE) Last notes, I realise I have low ram in my macbook and that would be a big contributor, however I'm currently working with simple shape layers in a 1920x1080 comp. AE 24 on my system handled this fine which leads me to think the issue mig

In this Left & Right grip should hold the box, Bounding Box hides the gap between grip & box. Is there any way to switch off the grip Bounding Box temporarily? 

Why in After Effects there is no option for selecting a preset type when saving a preset like Premiere Pro. Any preset in After Effects is saved as "Anchor to in Point" type in Premeire. It's so frustrating and time-consuming when I have many layers with different lengths, and I apply a preset, then adjust all keyframes to fit the layer's length. 

I've tried using  app.project.renderQueue.render()  to start a render,  which works great to start a render.But appearently when that's called, it starts the render and locks the UI, so I'm unable to hit pause, stop in the render queue.    thoguht perhaps maybe having buttons send RenderQueue.pauseRendering() and RenderQueue.stopRendering() would work, but no luck, as even the script UI is locked while rendering this way.   any suggestions?    wish there was a way for a script to simply hit the render button!

when i press spacebar on after effects it switches to the hand tool instead of playing back the compostition.

I have a crap-load of layers that each need to be in their own precomp. Is there any way, script or plug-in, that would allow me to select a group of layers from the time line and make it so each of those layers get into their own precomp?

Hello everyone, after importing the GLB 3D animation, I adjusted the time remap and loopOut() to extend the loop animation. There were no issues, and I was able to adjust the overall speed (gif 01). However, I found that if I only adjust a partial segment, it becomes unreadable (gif 02). May I ask how to resolve this issue?1. import GLB 3D animation2. select one of the action at animation options3. adjust part of the keyframes to slow down partial speed4. the animation doesn't work and just show the static mode

Hi,I have a composition built at 1920x1080. I would like to change it to 1280x720.  Is there a way to do that and also change the layers within the composition porportionally?  I was thinking about creating a null layer and parenting all the layers to the null and resize the null but would that degrade my layers?Please let me know if there is a easier/more efficient way of resize (downsizing) the compositon without degrading the quality of the composition.Big thanks.

Hello!I'm new to using after effects, i have the 2024 version and an hp laptop. I intend to use it for editing, which i know know isn't optimal, but i intend to make due with what i have. The problem is that no matter what audio i use, it's distorted. When i render the clips, the audio sounds fine, but during the editing process it's impossible to even play the edit as it randomly speeds up or changes pitch, slo mo, etc. I've changed my RAM settings. I've used both mp3, mp4 and wav. I've made sure the fps match the comp rate, cleared cache, checked my preview panel settings, probably more stuff that i can't recall now. Also the distortion changes all the time so it's not consistent. I first downloaded AE last year and my laptop was 1 month new back then, but since the audio on edits kept turning out this way there was no way for me to edit. I'm mentioning that it was new incase anyone might think that it's happening because of my lack of storage. I would appreciate if anyone has any su

Hi all,I recently updated AE on my mac, and on making a new project, I can't see any keyframes in the timeline whatsoever.  I can drag them around and navigate between them as if they are still there, and they have the expected effects, they are just competely invisible.  I did a totally fresh install on a Windows machine as well, same issue.I've used AE pretty extensively before, so I don't think I'm making an obvious error, but who knows.  I can't find any other topics on the matter on multiple forums, so I'm starting to lose my mind.  Any help would be very appreciated.  Thanks!
