I literally just bought Captivate 2017 about a week ago and log onto the web today to see 2019 released. Is there anyway for me to upgrade without paying? If I knew 2019 was about to be released I would have waited. I am not happy, especially since I'm interested in the VR component. Goodness!

I'm using Captivate 8 with Windows 10. I have the latest download of Captivate. This is a two-part question. First, Adobe Captivate help tells me I can insert a click box by doing this:Open the slide to which you want to add a click box. Select Insert > Standard Objects > Click Box. A click box appears on the slide.Size and drag the click box as desired.Double-click the Success, Failure, or Hint captions to edit the text.My problem is with #2. My Insert menu does not contain "Standard Objects." Where did it go? If I'm not using a click box, what should I use? (see part two below).Second: I'm not sure I know how to make things happen the way I want them to.The screen below shows a picture  of the client, a transcript of what she said, and five possible responses. Feedback for two of the responses are shown, although they are stacked so you can only read one. They will all be hidden until a response is clicked. We have a number of SCORM 1.2 courses published from Captivate 5 that are getting stuck on the grey Loading.. screen.What is odd about this is that the course launches fine on initial launch.If you then close after a couple of pages and relaunch, bookmarking works fine; it opens to the correct page.If you complete the course and close, The content is marked as completed in the LMS.IF you then relaunch, it takes you to the final page, which has a button to allow you to retake. That button works correctly and navigates to page 1.If you then navigate a few pages in, close the course and attempt to relaunch, it always hangs at the Loading... page.Any ideas?Thank you,Michael

We have run into a very odd issue with our captivate course and the LMS we have. So we load the SCORM APIs in one window and the course is another. What seems to be happening is the course window will lose communication back to the parent window which causes users to go through the entire course but never get marked as completed altough the summary screen at the end says they got 100%.The issue is the course window does not throw any kinds of errors or alerts to the user. I can see things show up in the console but those are because it can no longer access or find the parent window where the API files reside.This is a big issue as people are having to take things 2,3,4 times in order for it to work.

Hi there,I'm creating fluid boxes in Adobe Captivate 2019 and the dimensions don't seem to add up correctly.I may have an incorrect setting somewhere or i may not be aware of additional padding or margin that is added in the background, but any help would be appreciated.As seen below i have a fluid box setup in a master slide at 140x65px with 20px horizontal padding and 10px vertical padding. Then i have another fluid box inside this (not in the master slide) which is set to static so i can add an image. I assume the padding settings creates 20px padding to the left and 20px to the right, therefore the internal box should be a width of 100px but it is actually 116px wide. Similarly the height doesn't add up either (65 - 2 x 10 = 45, not 40).Another issue that i noticed is that additional space in between the height is added when the static option is ticked. If i un-tick static, the height becomes 49px but this still doesn't add to the correct size.Please let me know if you have any sol

I developed several games from the CP 2017 Assets, that were Templates from ElearingBrothers.  I had to updated them, so I installed the  ElearningBrothers Hotfix for CP 2017.  After I did this, CP 2017 would not open.  The following error was displayed:I went to Adobe support,  Support had to wipe clean my CP 2017, CP9 and Media Encoder.  Over 2 hours later, my CP 2017 was installed, but the Adobe support Tech wrote that the HotFix from ElearningBrothers is not guaranteed to work.   So my question to the everyone is:  Should I just use the ElearningBrothers templates in CP 8 or CP 9 to use their Templates?  I know I should ask ElearningBrothers, but I have sent several emails to their support, but have not received anything back.  Thank you. 

I'm looking for resources to begin expanding the capabilities of Captivate with JS, etc.  Looking for a recommendation for a good book or other resource.  While I'm pretty good with ActionScript, I don't know much about JS.   Any suggestions?Thanks,Eric

HiCan i add my own hotspots i.e. if i make my own black and white icon?e.g. if i create my icon and put it in folder where other icons are, will if appear in Hotspot dropdown menu?Can i add my own image hotspots? I see an Image option in the "Hotspot" dropdown.If yes, is it possible to:angle the image so it blends into background?include a highlight on rollover effect e.g. for discovery type scenarios .... then click to view info  Should i be referring to new relase as CP 2019 or CP 11?ThanksDonal.

Video's were playing with audio until yesterday when it suddenly quit. Checked all settings and have seen no reason for this. Please advise on how to correct this issue.

Working on a project slide - where I have designed a panel format that reveals some tips. I worked from one of the Captivate sample projects and made my edits. I am using a character that has several states. However - when my advance action changes the state - the character appears BEHIND my smartshape - and not in front like it is supposed to. I have checked the timeline and everything is layered correctly. The only solution that seems to work is going into the character state view and "redoing" the state - which then makes it appear as it is supposed to on the project. I know there has to be a better way to fix this. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi all,We're exploring E-Learning applications in  my company, and I was querying just how versatile Adobe Captivate actually is? I have been using a thirty day trial, and I must admit, that I am not overly impressed. It seems rather difficult to design anything that looks little more than a glorified Powerpoint presentation, but with the added element that it 'tracks' you and submits validation to an LMS. I've  not been using the software for very long, granted, but the styling selection looks a little dated and  generic, and the graphics supplied for buttons has a 2003 web graphic vibe about it. Would Captivate be a decent option for creating even slightly interesting and modern e-learning content, or is it just another plug for corporations to get administrators with no technical expertise to create  words with  transparent  background avatars?I don't want  to feel I am  ripping on the software, but would it be better to invest in a web design

Hi there,I'm fairly new to Adobe Captivate and i'm understanding that there are quite a few quirks that you have to get used to, coming from using other Adobe programs regularly.One thing that I've found frustrating and feel that i'm probably missing something, is adjusting sizes of numerous things (fluid boxes, object and images) to specific dimension values.For example i have 3 rows of vertical fluid boxes and i want to adjust the top box to be a height of 75px. Sometimes i can slide the adjustment bar to the correct location by hand but other times it will go from 74 to 76 and i can never actually get it to the right value.I've tried creating a guide at the correct location and then snapping to that, but setting this guide location is hard to get right as well and once it is positioned, the fluid box will not always snap to the guide. I also tried lowering the grid size in preferences and zooming in and then adjusting.Is there a way for me to select the fluid box and to enter the he

Captivate 2017I have a drag 'n drop interaction using Object Actions so that wrong answers bounce back. Using this approach ultimately makes the user drag the responses correctly. Here's the rub - the submit button shows up at the beginning of the interaction and will go to the next slide when clicked (at any time). I want the submit button to appear only when all choices have been placed. Please show me how to do this! ThanksSmiles,Susann

I have Presenter 10 and published already my presentation to adobe connect. But now I cannot do that any more. I can't publish to my computer or as pdf also. I used collaboration and then put it off, but no effects. Where is the problem?

Is there any guidance from anyone on best practice for technical documentation for Captivate projects?  There does not seem to be a built in tool that goes beyond the Print function. That output does not include variables, Advanced Actions, JavaScript  code, etc.  Within Captivate there doesn't seem to be a function for commenting on use of variables or logic for program flow which should also be included.

I am working on some older courses, I probably developed them in Captivate 8.  They have a quiz in them that is an assessment before the course content is presented so it's at the very beginning. I've done some edits and now when I publish, regardless of my Project > Table of Contents > Settings checkboxes, clicking on a slide in the TOC area doesn't do anything.Thank you in advance, wondering if anyone has seen this or can propose a solution.E

In Captivate 2017, when you select the spell checker it appears to now be including the 'background' html path of each element within a project. Why in the world would this be happening. What used to be a simple 2 minute spell check has turned into 15 minutes of clicking through 'junk' to try and get to the actual text of the my project. Is there a setting that I'm not seeing that can 'turn this off'?

I think there are six slide types that have to be in a Captivate theme.  Where can I find out which ones these are?  Do they simply need to be named correctly to meet the criteria, or must they be "as packaged" with Captivate?Thanks!

Looking for some advice on getting responsive projects to show properly on mobile devices. I have attached a link to a blank demo presentation that will respond to my browser on my computer but when I send it for review on mobile devices it will not adjust as required. Has anyone seen this? HI.I need to install the patch for Captivate 2017 on a Mac Os system to get a bug fix.I am running Mac Os 10.16.6 and have Creative Cloud installed as well.  I also still have Captivate 9 installed. So I am wondering if it is either of those scenarios.Captivate 2017 does not show available  Updates under the Help menuI get an error about not being able to install the patch directly from a download.Any help is appreciated.Thanks.Dan

I have Typing Text recorded through a software simulation. For example, I'll have the Typing Text set to take 4 seconds in the timeline. When I preview the slide, it takes 4 seconds. When I publish the project, it takes more like 8 seconds. Its basically doubling the duration of every Typing Text in my project.I've never had this problem before and couldn't find anything about it in these forums. Other than reducing the duration in the timeline of every Typing Text in my project (basically cutting them in half and hoping that publishes to the duration I actually want), does anyone have any ideas for why this is happening or how to fix it?
