Questions

Recently I've been exploring some more designer friendly options in this space for upcoming projects and decided to give Dreamweaver another look after not using it in many years. I have to say, I'm extreamly underwelmed. It's like Adobe sucked all the joy out of the product. Is it functional? Sure. Can you build a site with it? I guess but Adobe is making me not want to with this product. The interface has never been all that great but now it is even more cludgy and confusing, while feeling bloated and slow. I really don't know who this app is targeting, designers or developers? Regardless, they are most certainly missing the boat on both accounts. I would hope that someone over there is looking at tools like Webflow or Blocs, both of which are doing some intresting things in regards to layout. Heck, even some of the wordpress editors like Elementor and CSS Hero are worth a gander. These tools are not only functional but at least, for me, they bring back that since of wonder joy that

Hi, im testimg the last version of dreamweaver on a mac with the last version of the osx (catalina last one) and the password of the sites does not save.I tryed all the solutions that you inform before but no one works. Any ideas to solve it????

I have written php pages which allow an editor to upload files to the host and to view the files in a selected folder and to copy, move, or delete individual files.  This obviously gives a great deal of power to the user.  Right now I'M using them for convenience.  I did this so that when I am no longer maintaining a non-profit site that the board can designate someone else to maintain the site until they come up with an alternative. In the meantime this is a big risk.  I have to have the php files in the public_html directory because all the file functions need to start from the root.  Is there any suggestion as to how I can make sure that no one other than someone given the authority can accesss these functions?  I can certainly require a secure login, but is it possible to mark files as hidden?   Your advice is always appreciated.

I am using an old version of Dreamweaver where I need to use Flashplayer. But Flashplayer is no longer available. What other software is compatible with Dreamweaver CS5?   [Topic edited by moderator for clarity.]

How do I center my page in Dreamweaver? I know you probably use some type of HTML or CSS code to center the page. I am using a basic template but also have an HTML and CSS coded website I am working on as well. Any help would be much appreciated!! 

Two things: Would it be possible for DreamWeaver to mark as errors those special characters that will not render correctly in modern browsers? As the moment my work flow involves uploading a page, checking for errors, finding those effors on the DW file, correcting and then re-uploading.  Secondly, why is the DW special character screen a drop-menu, sub-menu, sub-menu away and then so limited? Thanks!

I'm a beginner 😩I'm trying to cut and paste, but it will not allow me. I'm trying to delete/paste in the lines that look like the image below, but it won't allow me. I can not remove any of the sections that look like this from my page.I can cut/paste yhe informtion below. Does t have something to do with the color?

How do you set what thumbnail always appears whenever you post your homepage link in social media?

I understand that if I want to emphasize certain words in a paragraph, I should use an inline element like <strong>, <em> etc., rather than insert a <style> in the HTML section\file. But if I want to control the effect of these elements, how do I custom format them in CSS? Can I define and format my own span-elements? 

For a beginner to HTML and Dreamweaver: can anyone recommend some tutorials, videos or user guides for using Bootstrap in Dreamweaver?Sean

I have an existing web site that has swf files which are no longer supported. I have downloaded all the files from the site, and am trying to replace. I have tried adobe animate, and created a new swf file? byt it only plays in animate. When I try to drag it ibto DW it does go, or if I double click, it cannot be opened in ms edgr browser. I am stumped, and frustrated. Any suggestions as to how to fix this, and any good instruction manuals. Mine are to old.Thxmrgrad.com is site trying to repair

Today I went back to an old site of mine that I had not touched for some time and I find the contact form is failing after submitting it: Application Error An error has occurred in the program close sendmail pipe failed, mailprog=[/usr/sbin/sendmail david@higgsy.com] at eval (11) line 108.  I think the way it works is the form Action is to reach out across the internet and run the FormMail.pl residing in the root of my domain.  The error message above suggest to me there has been a fault whithin the formmail script when it tries to run sendmail Am I on the right track here?  My website is athttp://dave.higgsy.com/ and go to Contact any suggestions as to what area I should investigate would be gratefully recieved, many thanks in advance

In older versions of DW, I used to manipulate tables in a dynamic way.... I mean, I could select entire rows and columns, manipulate a range of datas in one way, It was very fast! But in recent versions, like 2018 or 2019, the table manipulation has changed. Now, I can only select cell by cell, only one piece by one... It becomes very massive to manipulate.I don´t know if I´m doing something wrong, or if there is any way to configurate the way to manipulate the datas. So I´m be very gratefull if someone could help me to show how to manipulate a range of datas in a table, in the "view/design" mode, like older versions of DW CC, like 2015.Thank you.

I'm interested in hearing about suggestions for rebuilding a small non-profit website.  Did it years ago with the WebAssist tools.  I haven't been writing code for 5 years.  This is something I'm not really looking forward too, but time has come.   Looking for suggestions on what to do with my MySQL database connection as it appears those tools from Adobe have evaporated.   Brief review of current Dreamweaver made me think I might convert the real estate template into my needs.   Thanks in advance for any insight and guidance..

I am creating a website that I would like to connect to Oracle Database. Is dreamweaver compatible with Oracle? I looked under 'Model Server' settings from 'Manage Sites', there is not an option to choose oracle. There are options to choose mysql, JSB, ASP Javascript but Oracle is not listed. Is there a way aroundThanks

When previewing a responsive page in Chrome or Firefox (at least to begin with), I would like constant feedback on the browser window size (in pixels) so I can see how the page responds to resizing as well as at specific widths. Can anyone recommend browser extensions that accomplish this? (I know DW gives a Live Preview but I'd also like doublecheck how the page behaves in a regular browser.)Thanks,Sean

I have gone to Jotform and built a full page contact us page. I have the code for it, but when I drop the code in Dreamweaver 21.1,  I get nothing on the page. I'm trying to put the code in a new HTML page, I've also tried a CSS page, same results. I'm obviously doing something wrong, please help!
