About a year ago, I asked correct error for alignment.  Recently I was updated Fremamekr 17.0.5 vesrion. But, this error is still same. I was select two figures and apply "Align Horizontal Center" and "Align Vertical Center" buttons. That's not align.................... Align function is very importanct for make document. Please correct this error ASAP.    

Hello, I have a subchapter in a book where the subchapters are numbered. It starts at a subchapter, 5.1, with the paragraph style "Heading 1 Start, and the number properties as <$chapnum>.<n=1> : Subsequent subchapters follow the "Heading 1 Continue" style and the number properies as <$chapnum>.<n+> , and it works just fine for 5.2 and 5.3, following the properties for Heading 1 Continue":  But then, when I try to start a new subchapter, 5.4, it only wants to be 5.1, despite having the exact same paragraph style and properties:  A couple of notes:1. I have removed all overrides.2. I am not a programmer. Unless you have text to copy and paste into the code, anything you say will go right over my head 😜. Thank you.  

Just sending this flare as I continue to work on the issue...   Have any of you successfully run TCS or even just FrameMaker on an M1 Mac? Here's the situation I'm encountering: Microsoft no longer provides a Windows 10 image for ARM-based processors. You can only install Windows 11 (BTW, which Microsoft claims provides full backwards application compatibility with Windows 10). It's no longer possible to install Internet Explorer on Windows 11. Only Microsoft Edge is supported.   Here's what I'm seeing thus far (in a Windows 11 VM under Parallels): The TCS installer initially terminated on launch, with message "Your browser or operating system is no longer supported. You may need to install the latest updates to your operating system". Applying the Adobe registry modifications for bypassing the IE 11 requirement appeared to fix this problem. I'm generating a List of Markers to serve as an index of figures with their respective sources rather than citing the source with each figure in the body of the book. I'm using a marker on each figure and then adding the source in the marker text. Some of the sources require bold or italicized type, and using the <> building blocks doesn't work; it just generates the text exactly as I type it into the Marker Text. (So instead of  having "source stuff document title date" it says "source stuff <Italics>document title</> date") I inherited this project and the syntax was already there, so I assume it was working in prior versions. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Hello everyone, (also on behalf of @Klaus Göbel ) I wanted to share the sad news that our friend and forum member, Klaus Daube, passed away on March 3rd at the age of 82. Some of you may have noticed his absence in recent months. Klaus Göbel, Thomas Becker, and I each tried to reach him, and we eventually received confirmation from his family.Klaus was not only a dedicated and very skilled FrameMaker user, but he also developed very advanced, complex ExtendScript scripts that benefited so many in this community. I have adjusted the font size for page numbers in adobe framemaker (structured mode) and created a cross reference, but the font size does not change after saving the file. How to fix it?

Hi, I am looking for a way to save PS file every time a task for PDF is completed by the FM Publishing Server. I was not able to find any configuration in the PDF quality presets and don' see an option to publish directly to PS.I understand that under "Print" menu option in FM there is a checkbox "Save to File", which will allow to create the PS file. I need the process to be automated, however. Am I missing some Publishing Server \ FM configuration? Or do I have to have a pre\post JS script or a FDK customization?  Thank you for your input!

Hi,When opening FrameMaker files, the Missing Files screen appears. The file locations under Looking For: and Document Folders: are truncated. I've tried hovering over them, copying them, expanding the screen, and seeing if there is anything in Properties to view these.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, Julianna

My manual contains three volumes, each with no more than three chapters. The manual also contains an index and cross-references that need to span the volumes. The output is PDF only. How do I set up the manual for multiple volumes? Do I create three books (one for each volume) and then a folder for each chapter?

Hi Fm Friends:   I am trying to channel my inner @Bob_Niland and designate a bullet with unicode instead of a character style to switch to an ornamental font as I have done forever, but I'm stuck.   I entered \u25b6 as per another one of your other posts, Bob and while the Para Designer understands, I can't find a font that doesn't show a question mark. I am working with Arial and Times New Roman for this job. Fm 17.0.5.725.   ~Barb

I would like to make an object style that scales any object i any size or shape a fixed number of percent. Like, if I import a graphic, and I would like to scale it 10% uniformly.  Can that be done? Can I create a set of object styles that scales any object in like, 5, 10, 15...% ? ... I have been playing around with this, but it seems more tricky than I expected.

I have a large Word document which included:TOCTOF  (Figures use the Volume and Chapter as their number)TOT (Tables use the Volume and Chapter as their number)IntroductionVolume 1 with multple subchaptersVolume 2 with muliple subchaptersEtc.Appendices In the translation, i was able to break the document down into a structure which looks like the above using the Heading 1 (Volume), Heading 2 (Chapters) to create individual fm files. So it looks like the above structure, but I cannot get the Volume or Chapter Numbering to work.  I need to use the Volume and Chapter numbers for all tables and figures.   1. Can I work with the translated document to define the Volumes?  Or 2. Start from creation of a new book to create the volumes and then drag in the chapters into the new book?  If so where do I go to create such an book?

I'm updating a document that has markers at the start of several pieces of text. How can I tell what they are?Right-clicking doesn't shed any light on this.The Find tool lets me find markers, but when I specify "Marker - any type" I can't tell what type of marker I've found.The box below where you specify what to find must be where to put in the marker type if I specify "Marker - of type" but I'm not sure what all the marker types are, and either I'm not putting in marker type names correctly or I'm just guessing wrong. How do I figure out what these markers are? (Why is this hard?)

HiHas anyone managed to set this up?I have read that I need to change the itrules.xml file inside the DITA folder of the .xts, but I don't have enough knowledge of xml. I can't fully understand what I need to do.Is there a line that will set all paragraphs as translate="yes" or does it have to be done separately for each paragraph format?And finally, where in the xml file do I need to add the line? If anyone can share an example of a working itsrules.xml file with this added I would be very grateful.Thank you 

Does FrameMaker support code syntax highlighting? I am copying the code into FrameMaker, but it is being pasted as plain text. Is there a way to highlight the code syntax with different colors? I am trying to copy the code exactly as shown below:  

I'm using the latest Framemaker ( 17.0.2.431 ) and just installed bigger 32' dual monitors. Its amazing to see things bigger on screen, but I was wondering if there was a way to set the page view size or page zoom when FM opens a document? I'd much rather a single page take up the entire viewable area than to see multiple pages or only a section of another page. Currently, when FM opens a document it opens at 100%. That was fine on my older 24" monitors. 100% on my new monitors displays either 2 pages next to each other or 1/4 of the following page. If there was a way to set the default page view to 120% or to Fit Page In Window, that would be great. I just haven't been able to find a way to set it. 

HiI am very new to the world of Xliff, but not to Framemaker. I wish to look at our current process for translation which is to send our translation comany our FM files. They convert to mif, create the translations, recompile the FM files through a DTP outlet and send the completed translated FM files back to us along with a translated pdf. Systems works well and has done for years.However, I would like to trim some time and cost from the process if possible by using Xliff. I wasnt to send them the Xliff and receive translated Xliff back. I am hoping the DTP time wil l ne negligible, albeit at our end.Problem we are having is that Framemaker is just not allowing me to export an Xliff. I have tried a full book, a chapter and even a one page test doc with limited english text entered. All failed.Framemaker Version: 17.0.3.546Getting the following error:Has anyone come across this or similar? So, here at the company I work, we have been using FrameMaker for decades. All of your legacy and new products are developed together with a PDF manual created in Adobe FrameMaker. This are long documents (200+ pages), and I have been using all the best practices in my documents. All my Paragraph, Character and Table catalogs are clean and lean. I'm using very litte variables and very little cross reference formats. You can see the template I'm using for the manuals I create. Now, all of your manuals require translations into other languages. The way we work is that we send the FrameMaker files to an external agency and they handle the translations. This is extremely time consuming and expensive. We are exploring other options, and we would like to use DeepL to handle the translations (machine learning) but DeepL requires XLIFF files. We can also try to use other tools with better DeepL integration instead of FrameMaker, but the work would be monumental to just ditch FrameMak

I have been trying to troubleshoot an xliff issue which causes FrameMaker to crash. The issues seems to be related to the part of the template which is "document properties". But I have not been able to find a precise description of what - exactly - settings constitutes a documents properties. Sidehead, pagination setup, PDF properties, View options are File Info What else is there? 

Adobe states that JRE 8 is a system requirement for FrameMaker. If I understand it correctly, Oracle has recently introduced an employee-based licensing model, where a company now must purchase licenses for all employees, regardless of whether they use Java or not. For large organizations, this easily amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Has anyone here done any ramifications analyses and/or investigations into other vendors' Java software? Mats

I have some problematic character styles that I believe are causing some paragraph styles from staying when I close and reopen the document.There are several character styles that are checked (and I presume applied to a paragraph style) and I believe it is causing paragraph styles to not stay when I close and reopen the document. I am a point that every time I close the document and open it again, the application of the paragraph style disappears, despite the fact that when I select the text, the paragraph catalog shows that the style is applied, and shows the style has all the correct properties in the paragraph catalog (it shows the paragraph style as a 6pt font, but the text appears as 9 point).I'm assuming the problem has to do with something in the character styles. So i'm trying to uncheck the character styles. Also, ive even tried to delete some of these character formats and I've gone through the process of doing so, and the delete doesn't take effect.I've looked on the interne

Hi all,When I log into my Adobe account, I can see FrameMaker as one of the apps in my plan, but it is not available when I select View all apps? And if I click (1)OTHERS in the page with the apps, I get an error.My FrameMaker 17 works fine, but is not automatically updated, that's why I wanted to access it in my Adobe account.I also have the Creative Suite in my plan and that works fine, with all the apps being updated automatically.Does anyone have an idea why this is happening, and what I can do?
