I have a document that needs to look like an Excel spreadsheet so I used tables.I inserted Heading1, 2, and 3 in some cells to separate the content.When the TOC is generated, if a Heading2 is on a separate table (at the end of the doc), it apperar first than the last Heading2 in the previous table.Any help? I am trying to create a document from XML input, and have successfully converted graphics and cross references from XML into associated elements in a structured FrameMaker document. My next challenge are hyperlinks. I understand that I will need read/write rules, and currently have:element "Hypertext"{ is fm marker element } I suspect I need to define certain attributes or something else so that I can actually bring in the text and the link itself from XML, but I am currently unsure how to do that. Hello all,I am new to FM and just installed 2022.The home screen is not displaying correctly and looks like this: I spent hours with tech support yesterday and the only solution that they came up is that I need full admin priviledges to get the buttons to display properly. This seems like an unusual fix, this computer spends most of its time connected to the company network and they don't give out admin rights to just anybody. I've changed display settings, aspect ratios, scaling, FM properties, and other settings as it relates to display issues. Has anyone experienced this? Is it a permissions issue? A corrupt FM download perhaps? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated at this point. Thank you. -Dan  

I build an array of acronyms in the document's acronym glossary and use the getFind function below to search the document to see if the acronym is used and how many times it's used (findCtr++).  I'm running into some cases where the getFind function goes into an endless loop looking for specific words in specific documents.  This might happen with just four words in a document, or sometimes dozens of words.  The loop is 100% repeatable.  I believe I need to move the textRange.beg to the end of the "find" word each time a match is found, but I'm not familiar enough with ranges to know how to do it.  Appreciate any suggestions.function getFind(findString, considerCase, docName) { doc=app.ActiveDoc; //sets the active document as the object docStart = doc.MainFlowInDoc.FirstTextFrameInFlow.FirstPgf; textRange = app.ActiveDoc.TextSelection; findParams = AllocatePropVals (5); propVal = new PropVal (); propVal.propIdent.num = Constants.FS_

Hi everyone,I have a problem with a translated MIF file from Trados software. When I load the translated mif (which I exported from the customer supplied FM files) back into FM, the FM gets stuck and crashes. It happens very randomly - some translated files are perfectly fine and others crash. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? We figured out that it might be caused by some text field setting where a certain number of characters are exceeded after translation and FM can't handle it. But I'm not sure at all. The only thing that has helped is splitting the mifs into 2 halves but it's a lot of extra work for me, which I'd like to get rid of. Not to mention that the translation agency has to re-process it. I would be very grateful for any help on how to fix this error.  Sorry I cannot provide file - since is confident for my client.  Cheers,Martina

A table is extending to another page while there is enough space in the first page of Adobe Frame maker document. Please suggest solutions. 

Hi:I know this wording is unseemly, but I'm just so tired of some of FrameMaker's pompous, unnecessary nonsense. I generated a TOC based on an .fm document. I didn't ask the silly thing to make the TOC two columns. Having at least half a brain, I went into Format > Page Layout > Column Layout and received this gratuitous abuse.  Next, I specifically went Unrotated the pages. The unpleasant dialog box above reappeared. Any ideas, anyone?  Annoyed, but grateful for any help from any quarter,Lew YedwabResideo 

Hyperlinks work in Frame, but "Save as PDF" doesn't generate links. Have spent hours online with Adobe Support to no avail. HELP!

How can I take color combination for text which is unavailable in Adobe Frame maker document?

I am using FM 16.04 to create HTML5 help. Although hypertext and cross-reference links work in FM and PDF output (via Publisher), they are often broken in the OLH.As far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with the links when I examine the HTML in Notepad.

I have a lot of headings in this format:Sample Heading Name in Original Document I want to change them to sentence case:Sample heading name in original document In Word I can use shift+F3 to cycle through cases once I've selected the text. Hello, In a page, I have several paragraphs. Each paragraph is made like this :   Title Description   and before/after each paragraph I have a space.   I would like to select all the page, and create a tag that put a bullet only on the first line of each paragraph (title). How to set this tag ?

This might be better in the Acrobat forum, but we'll try here first since the source is FrameMaker.   Today I created a PDF in my usual manner with my usual settings. After adding a watermark and making sure the display options were set correctly, I used the Save As Other > Optimized PDF and, again, used my default settings.   Imagine my surprise to see that the bookmarks panel, which had bookmarks in it before I saved as an optimized PDF, has gone blank. No bookmarks. I tried closing and reopening the PDF in case it was just one of those Windows things, but that didn't help.   Microsoft OneDrive and Crowdstrike Windows Sensor are the only reported changes in my Update History since the last time I was able to generate a PDF correctly. They updated this morning.    Yes, I can always not save as an optimized PDF, but even when leaving the graphics uncompressed, my files usually shrink to 1/3 their prior size so I don't really want to not optimize.   &nbs

Since upgrading to Framemaker 2015, I don't have my toolbar vertically on the right side. Is there a way to get it back there

Greetings, In case there are any old salts who recall Interleaf - I'm working with some ancient files, I think they were recovered from the library at Alexandria, and must convert them from Interleaf to Frame somehow. We find that many (most?) of the files will translate without difficulty, but for reasons we can't discern, others will not. An example is the parts manual I'm currently translating. Section A's cover and content translated fine, as did section B's, but section C's won't. Section A is larger than C and section B is smaller (perhaps C is in 'the zone'?). Other sections have trouble translating the cover, or the content, but not both. I'm using Filtrix 4.0 to translate, going directly from resaved-to-ASCII files (.ildoc) to FrameMaker files (.mif). I'm willing to go multi-step (I tried converting from one Interleaf versio to another first, but that failed, also), if I must. Either way, I've got to get these FrameMaker capable. Any ideas?? Hello,please how can I center text verticaly in Pgf. Box? I don´t like that the text is very close to the upper side.@Barb Binder(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWhHcvswB1I) I saw you have the coloured boxes in your Reference page. So is there possibility to put coloured box as a backround for the paragraph? I know how the put objects from Refence page above/below the paragraph in the Paragraph designer, but not as you have in the Caution paragraph.... Can you give me advice? Thanks Adam 

I'm sure this has been covered on here but I can't find what I'm looking for. That's a newbie for ya. Anyway I'm trying to figure out how to new headings that will also show up in the TOC. Currently I have Chapters with Head1, Head2 etc. (1-1, 1-2-1). I need to add "Sections" that will be Roman numeral sequentially within chapters. So Chapter 1 may have SECTION I. TITLESECTION II. TITLESECTION III. TITLE etc. Thanks much.

Hello,I saw a lot of documents made in Adobe Framemaker, that have some coding in imported files (images, .fm documents etc.) like in pictures below.I guess that the imported code is a file name. Do you anybody know how to do that automatically in Framemaker?  Thanks Adam 

I have a book with generated lists of figures and tables. I would like to publish them to HTML5 along with the rest of the book, but FrameMaker 2022 skips them in the publishing process. I have tried different "tricks" in order to force publishing like creating cross references to the documents etc but to no avail. Would anybody know why things work that way? It looks like a bug, but perhaps there is a deeper meaning or merely a button I have overlooked?
