I'm using a text frame in the footer with content from that text frame being used to create a List Of Effective Pages. I've run into a problem that in some files I am unable to set the cursor into the text box on pages after a certain point.  I am using left and right master pages and the problem is affecting both the left and right pages. I can type the information into the text box for many pages, 35 pages in one file and 85 pages in another but when I move the cursor to the next page, the text I type is placed in the text box on the previous left or right page. Can any one give me any hints as to what the problem might be? Thank you. 

Hi,   FrameMaker 17.0.1.305. I will get a new monitor for working at home, and I am thinking of a 4k monitor. Are there any issues? Is all the text of the FrameMaker dialogs now readable? Anything fuzzy? What happens, when I also use the monitor of my laptop monitor with only 1920 x 1080. Will applications on both monitors be displayed sharp and crisp? I am using Structured FrameMaker Version 17.0.1.305.  In a task topic, the "context" tag is required, if I want to add text above steps.  The "context" tag automatically displays the word "CONTEXT:"  in its own separate line, before the text.  I would like to remove the word "CONTEXT:"  I have an EDD that I have tried changing, called task.edd.fm.   I deleted prereq?, context?, from the General rule of the taskbody element.  It didn't change anything.   I cannot find the context element in the reference pages of either the EDD or an XML file. In the EDD body pages, I can locate the Element (Container): context, but I do not see where I can delete the prefix.Please let me know if you have any ideas that could help me.  Thanks!Brian  

Hi, We have a real problem with using Framemaker together with Photoshop or other Adobe apps. We puchased Framemaker as a VIP license. De other Adobe apps are purchesed in a Fixed Price license. We did it this way because Framemaker can't be bought in the Fixed price license. Both licenses have their own login on Creative Cloud. This results in a headache for the users using both Framemaker and Fixed price apps. Because they have to logout first from one license and logon for the other vice cersa. You can't use them simulaniously. De fixed price license  are federated ID's and the VIP license have a Adobe ID. In out old environment we could make two Adobe ID's in both licenses, that worked quite well (with some struggles when you wanted to install apps frome Fixed price tough). But in our new envorinment this is isn't possible. Is there a way to make te apps working simultaniously again? I just can't imagine that Adobe hasn't thought about this. Is there a way to change the baseline for a character in FrameMaker? I prefer to do this in my trademark statement. In InDesign I'd create a character style for the ® and have it 2 pts larger with a baseline shift of -2 so it wouldn't be so high. Also, with smaller copy, it is essential to make it larger than the font size so we don't end up with the R looking like a black dot when the ink spreads.

FMjsxLib as described on https://www.daube.ch/docu/fmaker88.html has now reached version 1.7. It comprises about 240 functions, most accompagnied by a demo script. The documentation has reached about 380 pages. IMHO it has become useful information for new scripters - especially due to Rick Quatros chapter "Automation with ExtendScript".

We urgently need to upgrade our FrameMaker version from 2019 to 2022. Before we run ahead, I am wondering if I need to take any precautions to make sure that we don't lose current style definitions, master and reference pages, conditions, or anything else. Is there anything special that needs to be done either during installation or when opening up the files with the higher version for the first time? Or will it just be good to go, and I can continue working as I was without any interruptions? 

Hi,   FrameMaker 17.0.1.305. I have a few simple equations which are created with the regular equation editor, not MathML. These equations use a pre-defined font which looks like Times. My company font is Google Open Sans Light. Very different. Therefore I would like to change the equation font at least for regular characters, but I do not find a way to do this. In the online help it says: To change the font for Greek characters and symbols, choose one of the available fonts from the Math Symbols drop-down list, and click Set. However, there isn't any Math Symbol drop down list. Or at least I could not find it. When I tried to change this setting in maker.ini, then FrameMaker always crashed: [Fonts] MathFamily=Symbol I tried Open Sans and a few variations with Regular and Light. FrameMaker always crashed. I am running Structured FrameMaker Version 17.0.1.305.   I'm trying to change an EDD.  To do that, I believe I have to import the element definitions from the changed EDD (task.eddmod.fm) into something called a "task template."Where exactly is this task template?   To my understanding, all of my templates are in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2022\Structure\xml\DITA\outputTemplates  (screenshot below). I really appreciate any help.  Thanks. 

After checking in both the Structured Frame reference and user guides, I got the impression that the default handling of comments would be adequate for my needs, and it would not be necessary to create additional import/export rules (such as I already have for cross references). This does not seem to be the case.I have an XML document which is conformant with my XML schema and with the associated EDD. I added an XML comment in the middle of the file with a text editor:<!-- this is a test comment -->and loaded the file into FrameMaker. There is a pre-processing XSL script - which copies comments through - and a post-processing script which does likewise.Viewing the document in FrameMaker I could not see the comment in either the structure view or the document view, and if I ran Find looking for markers it did not find any comments.I inserted a marker, type comment, with marker text "this is a Frame comment", and created it. I'm using FM 2022, trying to apply two DITAVAL files to an XML task file within a ditamap to produce a PDF. As I understand branch filtering, placing two ditaval files in a topicref will produce one document with two sections, each section reflecting the ditaval conditioning on the source topic. What I get is a PDF with one section showing the source topic, no conditioning applied. Symptoms:I'm pretty sure my source topic is set up correctly: when I change the view using Filter by Attribute it looks right.I have taken the two ditaval files off the map and attempted to save it using Save as PDF (to see if I could get even one ditaval file to work) but the "Prompt for DitaVal file box is greyed out. Here's the (FM generated) XML for my map (I've tried it this way as well as adding the same topicref twice with a different ditaval on each):<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE map PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DITA 1.3 Map//EN" "technicalContent/dtd/map.dtd" [ &l

we are developing an information platform for our partners, which they should reach via a simple link without login.Now there is a requirement to prefix a license info when clicking the link and only when accepting the license terms the HTML project opens. The accepted license should be saved as a cookie and thus remain a necessary part when calling the project.Intuitively, I would see this task with the web developers, right? Does anyone know of any features/settings in Robohelp that are necessary or supportive or helpful?

This is a two-part question.I added two disconnected pages as they needed to be landscape as opposed to portrait. After adding the two disconnected pages, I created a table that has 14 rows. So upon adding that number of rows, the table was then populated to a portrait page that I did not add. Can someone explain to me what happened and how I can fix it to where the table is completed on the two landscape pages I added? In correlation to the landscape pages I added, the Headers and Footers on now on the right and left sides of the layout, but I need to put them on the top and bottom of the layout. I’m unable to figure out how to do that. Is someone able to explain how I make that change?

This has been an issue for a long time, wondering if it can be fixed or if there is a work around. When batch importing files into a new unstructured book, the files always import in the reverse order of what they need to be.  i.e.: 1.fm2.fm3.fm In explorer will import as: 3.fm2.fm1.fm Is there a way to batch import files so that I don't have to reorder the book every time?  Thanks.

Hi allFile Info fields in FrameMaker 2022 being automatically filled with unwanted text, even after we have deleted it.The metadta fields like Subject and Keywords contain text that we want to remove from all the files in a book. We open each file and remove the text, save the files, and close the book. When we reopen the files the unwanted text back again in the Subject and Keywords fields. Ideally, we would like to remove the unecessary text completely from the files.  However, we cannot find where the text is stored.  It does not appear in the Variables list, but must have been manually added by a previous writer because it's a specific company part number. Does anyone know where the text is stored?  How to remove the text from the File Info fields without it returning? Thanks for the help! 

An error occurs in the framemaker and is not used. I collected logs through the log collector, so please interpret it. This site doesn't support uploading to zxp type, how should I upload it?  

My client wants to move the project and images from my computer to theirs. They can access them on OneDrive but I assume they should maintain FM files on a local drive? I assume things get funky when you work from OneDrive? The FM and book files are located here:D:\PRESIDIO MYORDERS USER GUIDE\Framemaker User Guide\ The images are in subfolders here:D:\PRESIDIO MYORDERS USER GUIDE\Framemaker User Guide\Images\ Can they move the files to something like:c:\Framemaker User Guide\ to preserve the referenced images? The images were imported by copy. 

I was asked to reformat some documents, using the Avenir font family. I updated the FrameMaker file, thought my work was done, saved it as pdf and sent it to my coworkers. It turns out the pdf had different fonts displayed on Mac and PC, with PC showing the intended fonts, and Mac replacing them. I checked the pdf properties and the log file, and it appears as though some of the Avenir fonts are not able to be embedded. I've looked everywhere to get this resolved with no luck.I tried reinstalling the fonts, adjusting the Adobe PDF print settings (unchecked "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts").I tried to Embed all fonts in the Adobe Distiller Settings.I think it's also important to note that I can't find the Avenir fonts anywhere in the Distiller Font Source list, even though they are within the source folders.I tried unchecking "Remember missing Font Names" in the FrameMaker preferences.I tried using the fonts in other programs (Word) and printing to PDF, which

I know this is an easy thing to do but it's early and my mind is still sleeping. I want to change the way my 2 column table numbers. Instead of numbering across, I want to auton number down first, then the second column second. 

I have inherated book files that have as many as 72 master pages. Some of these pages have similar names. An example is there are 6 TOC master pages. I want to remove all Masters not ebing used. Then Import only the page formates I'm using. Question, is there a way to delet all these from each Doc file at one time?

I have a script that saves my files to PDF, using the following lines: var oaParams = GetSaveDefaultParams( ); i = GetPropIndex( oaParams, Constants.FS_FileType ); oaParams[i].propVal.ival = Constants.FV_SaveFmtPdf; i = GetPropIndex( oaParams, Constants.FS_PDFUseDistiller ); oaParams[i].propVal.ival = 0;My customer now asks me to generate PDF 1.7 instead of the current 1.6. Does anyone know where I can set this property ? 

not able to get Alt text output for images

I am evaluation FrameMaker. I produced a DITA document that publishes well to HTML formats.But when I publish to PDF, I don't like the format.It seems no matter what I do to change paragraph and character formats in WYSIWYG view,the changes don't stick, but instead revert to the default formats.What do I need to do to get the PDF output to keep the formatting I set?Is there a specific template that must be changed?Thanks for your help.-Lee

Hi! Somehow I had thought Framemaker supports not only youtube videos (which works very well) but also Vimeo videos. I am working on unstructured FM 2022.I can't insert the Vimeo link as an online video under 'Multimedia'. The error message is: Online video client not found or supported.Does anyone know a work around? Are there any other supported online video formats?I am publishing from FM as an HTML5 project.

Hi,Is there a way of getting from FM (or PDF) a detailed list of the appearances of a word?By detailed, I mean ideally including page number, line number, and some context. The background for this question is that I have a standards document of 50+ files, totaling about 1350 pages.I am required to locate all occurrences of the word "must" and recommend whether and how to change them, usually, but not always, to "shall".I need to make a list of all occurrences of the word, so that they can be reviewed by the standards committee in charge of the document.I thought of making an Excel file, but wanted to know whether there was a way to speed up the process. I am using unstructured FM 13 (2015). Thanks,Shalom
