This is hard to explain but Illustrator has been adding in the contents of an old illustrator file when i try to export simple vector svgs. The new svg exports are stored locally. And it happens with every svg export

Hello,I am on a new laptop without my old preferences. I am attempting to unite two shapes via Pathfinder as shown in the attached image. The ONLY way I can unite these two closed shapes is to place one ontop of the other. On my old laptop, I could drag one shape via one anchor to the other shape's anchor and they would unite, but that is not working here. All unite does is group the two objects in the layer panel. Working file not attached because the error on the forum is telling me it can't be attached. I cannot get the yellow paths to unite and I cannot unite the red paths.I have restarted AI.I have set the tolerance in the Pathfinder flyout panel to the smallest allowable number .001The paths are both closedI have copied and pasted the two objects into another document with no success.The paths are NOT compound (though that should make no difference.) I can't for the life of me figure out what I am missing? I am on MacOS, ai 29.0.1 Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hello Everyone! I am having issues with my files. I have created a logo and exported it as a PNG to be used as a logo on another design I am working on.  When I import the PNG, the logo shows a white bounding box with it when its over my designs, but does not show it when its just over the transparency grid.  The PNG is transparent and does not have anything behind it. I have attached a screenshot to show what I am talking about.

when click drag object the cursor is jerky and sometime is delay for click select object and need to wait 1-2 second for drag smooth. How can I fix it. -Mac OS Sonoma 14.5-Illustrator 28.5.0  please recommendThank you

Beta version of Illustrator freezes up when I try to print to Epson 2850 printer. Other version of Illustrator will print if I save as pdf. All other Adobe products work fine.  I have tried reinstalling print drivers, reinstalling printer, turn off/on again, etc. I am using Window 10 computer.

We have a large team that's constantly opening previous projects. The print team is separate from the video team.For the video team, the CMYK profile is sort of irrelevant, but the RGB isn't.Is there a way to have Illustrator tell about only RGB color mismatches when opening the file, and just preserve CMYK? Basically, can I have the result of "Ask when opening" different for CMYK and RGB?

I have just noticed that when I want to make a new file in AI and I select File - New, I dont see the pop-up window with the alternatives. Instead AI just seems frozen until I press Esc or Enter. This makes me suspect that the popup window is lost somewhere in the "limbo space" between my dual screen setup. I am working both at home and at the office with my laptop (Windows 10 Enterprise) and have different screen setups, and that is what I think could be the reason. (I assume I have opened a new document with a different display setup, and the popup window remains at that location.) Is there a way to sort of "recall popup windows" to the main screen somehow? If not, I think it would be a useful feature. I don't know if I will be able to locate the popup window by rearranging my display setup, or if there is another solution? 

I'm in need of help and have NO idea what I'm doing. I have an excel file with thousands of rows, each with a column for the x-coordinate, the y-coordiante, the height, and width of a rectangle. I need a script that will ask me to select the excel file, read the excel file, and create rectangles from each of the thousands of rows. I imagine this would be pretty simple for somebody who knows what they're doing, but I have no idea where to start. I'm working in a windows environment and have Illustrator CS4. Any suggestions? Any scripts out there that might give me a start?

Olá, Nas versões anteriores do Illustrator (até 2023, creio) existia a opção ''Substituir tudo'' quando algum link está em falta, mas nas versões mais recentes essa opção desapareceu e foi trocada por ''Ignorar tudo''.  A opção ''Substituir tudo'' dáva-me imenso jeito no meu trabalho e agora tenho de substituir os links um a um.  Existe alguma forma de voltar a ter a opção anterior, sem ter que reinstalar uma versão antiga do Illustrator?Ou alguém conhece o motivo da Adobe ter eliminado essa opção? Obrigado.

Hello everyone.For a few weeks now, out of nowhere, my Adobe Illustrator 2024 has been having an issue with the cursor. When I'm working on a design and try to click to select an element, instead of selecting, it gets stuck to the cursor and drags the entire design or remains attached to the cursor until I click again. Also, since that day, the direct selection tool is not working for me. I can select it, and it shows the nodes in the design, but when I try to click on a node, instead of selecting as it normally does, the entire vector gets stuck to the cursor. I've tried various ways to solve it, including uninstalling and reinstalling AI. I've reset all AI settings, but nothing has worked. I haven't found anything similar on any internet forum. It's as if this problem is unique to me. "I need an urgent solution as I have a lot of overdue work because I can't work like this. I have a MacBook Pro M1 Max."

Dear all, I know exporting a font that I created on my own is not an original function from Illustrator, it requires a plug-in to do. I was wondering if there is any recommended free plug-in for Illustrator from the Creative Cloud suite that I can use. I saw a lot of people recommend Fontself, but it requires a one-time purchase without any trial. I'm just starting to learn how to do some typography, so I'm not sure if I want to purchase it at this point (maybe will do once I know there is more use of it in my career), therefore, I would love to start with some trials. Thank you.Karen

I saw a long post on this and I'm having the same problem as of now. just a few hours before this post my pngs where coming out just fine. I have been using AI for years and never had this problem ever!  but i do know what i did to cause the issue i placed an svg file into one of my projects. I know this caused the problem because yesterday i exported an icon from this same project at the same size and everything was crispy.  But every since i placed that svg file into my illustrator it altered the way my pngs export. I've tried new projects, different sizes and everything else but still no luck everything i export is blurry now. now i have to go back and forth with photoshop to get my crispy results back its an extra step that i don't like but its the most productive. if anyone knows why this file type would cause this issue id like to hear someone eleses opinion.

Every PNG I export from Illustrator is blurry regardless of the export settings I choose or the method I use to export. I've read all the other posts associated with this issue and tried all of the suggestions and nothing seems to work. I created the design in Illustrator to the exact dimensions needed (500px x 200px) and I've even tried changing the units in AI's Preferences with no results. The application is to provide my companies branding to be displayed on a thrid party vendor application. They only accept PNG, GIF, or JPG formats. I've attached a video showing what I'm dealing with and the settings/parameters I'm using. When I export to PDF, the quality is perfect. Even though PDF is a vector and PNG is a raster the same quality should be achievable because it has been in the past. FYI...All my software and OS are up to date.

Hi commuity,  When i try to save my illustrator design, i get message telling  An unknown error is detected....  

I'm currently working on a project in illustrator (everything is updated) but every time I select something and attempt to move it, the background/bounding box turns white. It is transparent until I attempt to move it. I don't understand why because it's just pen tool shapes so its not like I placed an image incorrectly. Its just really frustrating because I'm having trouble aligning things properly. I cant see anything behind all the white space. I have attempted turning on and off most if not all selection settings.UPDATE: the box goes away when I hold shift while moving?If anyone knows if this is a bug, or maybe just me being dumb with an unknown setting, please let me know because this is so annoying!

Every time I open a new Illustrator document, I have to manually pull up my swatches and symbols pannel. I have tried making new saved layouts, but every time I close Illustrator and open it again, they dissapear. Is there a way to make them stay?

Is there a plug in or some way to to send a Illustrator file to a graphtec plotter directly from Illustrator? 

Ever since I updated to the new version of Illustrator (v 29.1), when I move my guides, it makes all the vectors outline with a heavy contrast. How can I fix this?

In my work, I have several libraries and one of them contains some stamps and icons that we use daily. However, when we place as copy this stamp from the library into the file we are working on, it loses the configuration and layout of the text, and this happens with text that is over a shape. Does anyone know why this happens?   

After having a hard time making patterns in the Pattern view, I reached out for help atthe Adobe tech support.I was asked to share my screen to solve a crashing issue. After I gave control of my MacStudio to the Tech support, the 1st thing he did was to Uninstall both versions of Illustrator without saving my preferences  (all my Swatches / Art Brushes, etc.) inside.After a few unsuccessful tries the tech gave up on the crash problem and told me that he would schedule another Senior Tech to take a look at the problem. The next day Senior Technical support checked the whole case. She looked at the screen-sharing session recording and confirmed, that the 1st Adobe tech support made a HUGE mistake by Uninstalling my Illustrator 2024-2025 without saving or asking me if he should keep all my Personal Preferences (User Defined Swatches located).The deleted patterns were around 45-50 approximately, 2 months of work.Then Adobe offered me a two-month free subscription when i
