Questions

I added a white stroke to black text with a white background in Illustrator to make the text appear slightly thinner (Window ... Stroke ... Weight).  I saved a .jpg and it looks good with the changes to the weight. Then I selected the text and proceed to Object ... Flatten Transparency ... Merge because I don't want a 'live stroke' to be a part of the text, but now it looks it's MUCH thinner?  I saved a new .jpg to confirm, and it's definitely several weights thinner after flattening. I'm trying to figure out how to keep the same thickness of the original text with the stroke added, but also permanently remove the white stroke and save it without changing the overall weight if that's possible? Thanks

Fino a 10 minuti fa andava perfettamente, ora quando uso la funzione sfocatura (controllo sfocatura) mi da problemi: prima di tutto non mi fa più vedere l'anteprima (non c'è proprio più l'opzione di spunta) e quando applico l'effetto è bruttissimo, di bassa qualità, pixelato.Sono nuova a Illustrator quindi non so se ho toccato qualcosa che non dovevo.Aiutatemi!!

I am teaching Illustrator, and I have a student who wants to use the warp/twirl/pucker tools etc, but when she tried to access them in the toolbar, they are greyed out and she cannot use them.Do you have any idea why this would be?

Is it possible to find a problem here? First, a spot color is created and assigned to the global variable spotWhite, which is used further in the wrapper script. I have - a few times - lately lost files that were open during an Illustrator crash. The other times I thought I just might not have saved the file, but this time I am sure that I saved it to my computer. Now - after a crash the file is gone as if it was never there. Missing from "recent documents"  Instead I have found an empty file called "print.ai" - It was also present the last time this happened. Both recent times it was fairly complicated files with many layers and some Astute Grahics effects. I have the Auto Data Recovery feature on, but the file did not turn op when I restarted AI..... I also have Time Machine backup, but it doesnt show up here either.... Damned! ++m 

I just updated to Adobe Illustrator 2023, and when you use the freeform gradient tool and export your files as a PDF, whatever you have set as a freeform gradient disappears. I either need a fix to this ASAP or a way to roll back to the previous version of Ai because I'm working with a brand that uses freeform gradients in a TON of their materials, and PDFs are one of the main filetype resources we use.

When using the Pen Tool in Illustrator 2024, I use the COMMAND key as a short cut for the Direct Selection and OPTION for the CONVERT anchor point; when using the OPTION shortcut it will not allow me to select the end of a handle and move it. No matter what I do, I cannot select the handle with either the shortcut or selecting the CONVERT anchor point tool. I have to change the point to a corner point, then back to a smooth point to be able to select the one handle to change the direction or edit the corner. This changest he curves and that changes the curve and the shape. I cannot upgrade to 2025 until the office upgrades as controlled by the IT people.

I just did the update 27.8.1 for my Illustrator 2 days ago and now, when I click a space on my horizontal scroll wheel to the right or left of the location marker, it goes all the way to that place in the entire Art space (which is fairly large, and I don't mean just my Art Board), instead of the approximate 2/3 window space proportional to my current zoom percentage that it had been doing.This is especially a problem when I am zoomed into my work and I click to the side like I usually do expecting to move just a little to the side, and I am now way off my art board and have to either hit Ctrl0 or zoom out to find where my art is again. For years, I was used to knowing exactly how much Illustrator would scroll to one side no matter where on the horizonal scroll wheel I clicked. Now I feel like it's way to sensitive and knows no bounds.  I know this is a small issue and I could just click the scroll marker and drag it to where I want to be on my artboard or click the arrows to

I am copying text from a Photoshop document into an illustrator document. The documents have identical dimensions. Illustrator is set to display at 300DPI, and the Photoshop document is also at 300PDI. All formatting and fonts is preserved in the pasted text, except font size. When I copy a 14pt text from a Photoshop document, it is resized in Illustrator to 58.33pt. How much larger it is in illustrator depends on how large it was in Photoshop. For example, a 20pt font copied from Photoshop will paste into Illustrator at 83.33ptIf I resize my text in Illustrator to 14pt, and then copy and paste it back into Photoshop, the font size is changed to 3.36pt.It seems that changing the Unit preferences in either program does not affect this, although I noticed that changing the text unit preferences in Photoshop from points to pixels will change the value from 14pt to 58.33. But it still pastes into Illustrator far larger than it should be.I do not know if this is something that needs to be f

Hello, I wanted to know, when we can expect the Quick Pen Tool to be included in the Desktop versions?It's a useful tool, but I don't want to use the tool in the web version only...it's a hassle for me to switch designs back and fort between the web and desktop versions?Some people had this tool in the desktop beta version of illustrator, but there is currently no illustrator beta version for the desktop - only the web version of illustrator.

I have been too used to using the shift key for free transformation and no shift key for proportional/locked-in transformation in Photoshop. Is there a way to change to that same setting in Illustrator for scaling? (I do not free transform as quite as often, so it's irritating to use the shift key for every little change.)

hello! after updating illustator 2025, smooth tool is so bad! I can not smooth a letter's edges or anchor points it messes up the whole letter and simplifies all the letter.I can not smooth a specific part like i used to! it so sad! is there any solution?thanks!

Font Glyphs are not visible in Illustrator. All images in the Links panel look the same.

I noticed a strange feature - a written action using negative offest value becomes positive after it is written and Illustrator restarted. Thus, the subsequent playback of this action does not work correctly.Is it a peculiarity or just a bug? It seems to be a bug in a particular version of Illustrator. 

how to make Illustrator v29 smooth tool function like old version because it smooths all the path and shapes too much automatically it is crucial tool for my workflowI used to be able to swipe the pencil along part of a path and it fixes exact path part with reasonable strength, the update made it realy realy bad in attached photo, one click with lowest strenghth and the shape is ruined by over smoothing itplease solution 

this is too strange, it should be after upgrading to AI 2025, the tools are getting better, this is why it's ugly, especially for the pencil tool, too smooth. The accuracy of the strokes can no longer be as perfect as we want, even though the accuracy has been set to accurate, the scratches are still smooth. Please fix this adobe.

This is hard to explain but here it goes: I've been working on an illustration for about 4 months. My primary tool has been the pencil tool with the fidelity slider set all the way over to accurate. This allows me to get a lot of detail line work in there. I took a break from the piece for the past 3 weeks.When I opened it up again today and started drawing, the detail and accuracy of my new lines is gone. The lines are smoothish and and way over simplified. I checked the fidelity slider and it's still all the way over to accurate and my other settings are the same as before. Any ideas or suggestions? 

In the new illustrator version, the pencil lost sensitivity.  Even in the max accurate setting it is still over-smoothing the shape.
