The (CMD+2) Lock shortcut all of a sudden is not working. REALLY ANNOYING. I have tried resetting preferences, restarting mac and renaming the shortcut. All did not work. I can change the shortcut to (CMD+3) and it works, but I can't for soem reason put it as (CMD+2) once I delete the shortcut. I use this shortcut all the time, really frustrating that it now does not work. Any ideas? Version 30.0

Hi everyone,I work for a print company and we’re experiencing a serious issue that has only started happening in the last couple of months, despite using the exact same workflow for years without problems.   Our Setup / WorkflowWe design in Adobe Illustrator We send the AI file directly into Agfa Asanti (RIP software) Asanti sends the job to our printer All software is fully up to date (Illustrator, Asanti, OS)   The IssueWhen we load an Illustrator file into Asanti, some artwork elements randomly shift position normally being images including PNG, JPG and TIFFS but all varying from different file sizes.The original AI file is perfectly correct and shows no issues. We have found to fix it we just need to resave the same Illustrator file again and re-import it and it's fine. This never used to happen. Does anyone know of a setting where I can prevent Illustrator from automatically selecting Rotate Transform and Round Corners as the first option in views >50%?I want to grab an object with the selection tool and move it somewhere else, but these pseudo-intelligent features make it impossible to do so because something always gets in the way. Either it starts rotating or it starts rounding corners. But simply moving an object from one place to another where I can see the entire workspace is currently almost impossible.

Like this feature, but, I frequently need to work with other shapes that need to say keep the top or the side and have the rest of the body extend (not just the corners).  Could you create a SIMILAR TOOL, that you could keep certain zones like Top half, right half, bottom half, left half? Hey, hoping someone might have some insight here.Illustrator crashed on me while working on an untitled file (yes, I know, lesson learned). When I reopened, the recovery dialog popped up showing two files — one saved file and my untitled one. It went through the progress bar like it was recovering both, but then only opened the saved file. The untitled one just... vanished. No error, nothing. Turns out Illustrator deleted the recovery data after "processing" it.Luckily I have CrashPlan running, so I managed to grab the .aid file before it got wiped. It's 4MB and definitely has data in it — I can see the "AI Crash Recovery Data" header and document metadata when I look at it. I've tried the enableContentRecovery preference trick, tried making the file read-only (which stops the deletion but Illustrator just ignores the file), and even tried an updated version of Illustrator. Nothing works.Found this thread with someone having the exact same problem. Has anyone figured out a way to manua

NO sé qué esta pasando con Illustrator en su versión 30.0, pero es una locura la cantidad de memoria que esta utilizando. Tengo un archivo de Branding con puros vectores simples, literalmente pesa 100 mb, pero de alguna forma utiliza 20 gb de RAM. Tengo una Macbook Pro con 36 gb de RAM y la computadora a penas puede con el programa. Alguien tiene el mismo problema?

Some Illustratrator files are rendered with a very small thumbnails in Bridge with only ~30 x ~20 ... how can I change this in Illustrator?

Normally we save the AI then Export to svg then close  AI. Now when closing AI it asks to save unsaved changes even though there aren't any changes as all we have done since we last saved it is to Export it. This message is misleading because before it was a good reminder that we had not have saved what we had changed before we did the Export, but now it's totally misleading as it does it even when we did save it just before the Export. Is anyone else finding this new warning misleading?

I want to be able to continue moving guide lines in Standard mode without having to unlock them every time. I lock guide lines when I want them to be fixed. However, this is not the case when drawing for the first time. I couldn't find anything about this in the preferences.

As the subject line indicates, I'm trying to create a sine wave that will conform to an irregular shape and maintain a curved crest and trough. Also I don't want the lines of the wave to cross each other. I tried creating a wavy line (used the zig zag effect) and Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Top Object, but that created sharp points at the crest and trough and also crossed the line of the wave. I've drawn some amazing art to demonstrate what I'm trying to achieve. The picture uploaded in portrait and it's meant to be in landscape, but I'm sure you get the gist. I know that I can do this manually with the pen tool, but I'm hoping that there's a faster way as I'll be making the lines very dense. TIA.

Hello everyone,I want to create a script I map to Ctrl+E that would collapse selected layers if more than one layer is selected, otherwise do the regular Expand.Is it possible to know how many layers are highlighted in the Layers panel?

The object is not moving in Illustrator. I have tried every solution; nothing works except when reinstalling it. I have experienced it two or three times this week.Every time I have to go through reinstalling, that sucks. Does Anyone have any permanent solutions?That would be really great.

Hey everyone, I seriously need help because I’m absolutely desperate right now.All of my 2025 files that were saved in the cloud have completely vanished.They still show up in the “Recent” tab, but when I click on them, it says I don’t have permission to access the file — a file that I created.And the worst part: every time I click on one of these files, it disappears from the “Recent” list.I’m a designer and I have multiple ongoing work projects, all saved in the cloud.And everything is gone.When I open the Creative Cloud storage page, there is NOTHING there — only empty folders.But here’s the weird part: files created before 2025 show up normally.Everything from late December 2024 until today has completely disappeared.I’ve already contacted Adobe support and explained everything. bonjour,lorsque j'ouvre un fichier SVG exporté depuis un autre logiciel (QGIS), Illustrator créé un "faux" calque "Calque 1" et y place tous les "vrais" calques à l'intérieur. Le problème c'est que ces "sous-calques" ne peuvent pas être transformés en calque (il faut les recréer manuellement).D'autres logiciels comme Inkskape ou Affinity Designer lisent correctement le même fichier SVG, donc sans le niveau "Calque 1" (voir copies d'écran).Le problème semble bel et bien venir d'Illustrator lui-même qui crée ce niveau Calque 1.Savez-vous comment le supprimer?MerciN. Oh. NOTHING is working. Using finger, not Apple Pencil. No tool makes any mark on the artboard. I just upgraded my subscription to Pro from desktop only. I restarted the app, no change. 

I'm not able to find much on google. I have an image with the settings below. As for file name and file locations, the file name is already saved and the file pathway is already established. If the script can just keep the same file name and location, that would be amazing.Thanks so much in advance! 

I keep the suffix box blank yet when I export a JPG with Export for Screens, Illustrator always adds the name of the artboard at the end of the file name. Everything is perfect besides this. I need to this to stop.If there's no way to do this natively, is there a script that can do this? I establish the file name and file location already when I initially save as ai. It's just the jpg part that I'm trying to iron out. Thanks in advance!These are my settings: 

I know that when making a brush swatch, one of the available colorization methods is "Tint" which then lets you use that brush and select and color for the stroke, and the brush will take on that color (see screenshot).  It's super useful so that I can easily recolor one pattern brush without having to make individual brush pattern swatches in different colors.  Can that be done with a pattern swatch?  For example, if I create a polka dot pattern swatch only one color (the cmyk color set to #000000 black as is required when making a tint brush) is there a way to change the pattern color settings so that i can select any swatch color and it creates the polka dot pattern in that color?

Hi folks -- I need to import a line graph from Excel (image A) into an existing Illustrator file (image B).  The new line graph will replace a line/curve in the existing Illustrator file (highlighted in yellow in image B) as shown in the image: I have tried multiple methods to import this data—including copying and pasting the graph into Illustrator and saving the data as a comma-delimited file to recreate the graph in Illustrator. After  much trial-and-error, I cannot get the results I want. I would like the new line graph to exist on its own layer and maintain the scale in the original Illustrator file. If anyone can point me to a solution or even a great online tutorial, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
