A Google search will bring up many extensions with half-baked instructions on how to use them. What is the definitive extension for running illustrator scripts in VS Code? And where can I get full instructions on setting up and using it?

Hi there, title says it all. You can save artboards as separate files and drag those into a Library, but you can’t drag from a Library to create a new artboard (at least not for me) - probably because it’s stored as a file, and not an artboard? I’ve got lots of web and social ad sizes I need quick access to, which seems like a use-case for Libraries. Anyone know how to get drag and drop fiunctionality between Libraries and Artboards? Cheers, Ben

I am having the most annoying issue of my life.When using Illustrator the right click does not work when hovering over layers or items in the layer tab. I have tried:- resetting preferences- uninstalling illustrator and re-installing- swapping from application bar to frame vice versa.-updating softwares including IOS I also have tried disconnecting monitors and doing it on the desktop solo, same problem.  Nothing works.... I feel handicapped and super close to going back to Affinity where none of these problems happened... How can such an expensive piece of software have such a stupid bug... So here is my issue.When I open a file, even an empty brand-new file, I can not make a pattern at all. I opened up a fresh file, yes, with every other file closed except that one, and tried to make a basic rectangle shape pattern, but it crashes once I hit the "DONE" option. I have no idea why this won't work at all for me and crashes the whole application. I work on a laptop that has about 16 GB of RAM, and again, it doesn't work even with everything closed. What can and should I do?Thank you.

Hi There, When a layer is locked, 90% of the time I want Illustrator to ignore that layer - like never auto-select a locked layer, or never attempt to paste into a locked layer. Is this possible? Basically, Illustrator seems to force constant interaction with locked layers which is a huge time waster when you just have a template, safe area, or some other reference on top, and you art underneath. Hope that makes sense. I recently had an issue with uploading Illustrator files to an online contract printer.  The issue is elements that were deleted prior to saving (not simply hidden) are showing up in the file once uploaded.  Or on one, I re-sized an image from 11.5" to 9".  Once uploaded, the file showed two images on top of one another, a large file and a smaller file of the same image.  Is this a strange bug with the history tool?  The only work around has been to place the final image on a new canvas and then save as a new file.  Never had this happen before and I've used this contractor for quite a while now.  These files all were saved in the last week.

My Illustrator executable/app keeps removing itself from my PC and I have no idea why. I cannot find anything online and speaking with support did not help. I have my apps installed on my X drive, which is my M dot SSD since my C drive is an HDD that is much slower. It's annoying that customer supports answer was to use my C drive instead of X even though the option to change drives is given to us by the Creative Cloud app itself. They also immediately asked for remote access, even though there was no reason to. The only other apps from my subscription I have installed are Photoshop and InDesign, and I have not been using any of much as of recently. Every time I do go back I usually work with Illustrator, but it is the only one that seems to remove itself. Has anyone else had similar problems to this, or knows a possible solution?

I am selecting a layer which contains many paths. I use the eyedropper tool to copy the desired attributes and the selected layer appears to inherit the attributes, although none of the objects' appearances actually change. Then, deselecting the container layer and selecting the individual object, it is revealed that the object still has its original apperance, and the objects within the layer did not inherit the copied appearance.  https://youtu.be/VxgElaT7ndw I would love to know if there is a mistake in my process or if I am misunderstanding something about how appearances work on a layer parent/child basis. 

Is this possible? I can't seem to be able to do it. The tooltip changes when I move between side by side documents. Selection / targetTooltip switches to arrow Also when I add the swatch from the source document, it is not available when I switch to the target document. I basically have no way of copying the appearance besides pasting the target into the selection document or writing down the color code..

I have this image that is going to be cut right where the colours of the artwork end, and that outer stroke will be the bleed.I need to extend all the colours out to that black bleed line, but there are so many shapes and colours... (I have many other elements like this one to do)Is there any way to do this automatically, without extending each colour manually?I know about Offset Path, for example, which expands the artwork’s edges; but when I use it, the colours don’t align properly with the bleed.Hope that makes sense &#x1f605If anyone has a trick for this, I’d really appreciate the help!

I am trying to make patterns using the pattern tool, and I am running into problems. I will attach screenshots as I explain. This above is the original pattern motif. It has an empty box on the bottom layer, a 5x5 In repeat pattern, see the repeat in the attachment, and the background is a box on the layer above the empty box, same size of the empty box and artboard. The motif is clipped by a clip mask, but the whole motif is repeated under the clip mask. I save it as a pattern using the pattern tool and it's in the swatches drop down menu. I increased the size of this text and now it is overset. I can't figure out how to make the text box grow, it only allows me to drag and distort the visible text.  

Hey there!  I want to create a simple color palette for a logo in illustrator. I picked a nice color, working in de RGB mode. I use the color picker to write down the color hex code RGB and CMYK code. 1. Would you suggest to use the color picker in illustrator for writing down the color codes? Or are there better ways? Attached is a screenshot. I just copied the codes for the palette, but I'm not sure if this is the right way?  2. When finding the right CMYK color, could I just write down the CMYK values from the color picker, or should I first convert the document to CMYK, and then use to color picker and write down the color values?  Hope you can help 🙂   

Hi There, I've always used masks to crop images but it's farily convoluted comapred to say InDesign. Is there a way to crop images that's faster then masking? The crop image option (from the top bar when an image is selected) resets everytime you want to re-crop an image which is a time waster. Also, I can't find a way of activating it with a modifier (like CMD + SHIFT Drag Handle etc) to speed things up. Any help or suggestions welcome. Cheers, Ben

hello all! just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with adobe illustrator V29.1. I type out my copy "Glorify Sans Semi Bold" then change to this font but then after I go back to add or make a correction to the copy and it reverts back to a different font. (serif in the middle that says "what is going on with fonts adobe?" happening on mac & pc both with latest version of ai. super annoying seems to be all files.

When I am trying to use the Mockup tool, I will place an image and then place the Vector Logo on top, select both items, and ask Illustrator to CREATE MOCKUP.  When the mockup is created, Illustrator is putting a white box behind the vector file, on top of the image. See attached images

Trying to get a better understanding when text is converted into Wireframe.I have text which has had wireframe applied. I am very surprised with the results. The magnifcation is 6400%. This appears to be severly pixelated?Procedure used;1) Type char2) Select text and Create Outline. (Also tried the Object Flatten Transparency)3) 3D and Materials Expand to WireframesWould like a better understanding of the Wireframes process. Based on a quick search it is not suppose to convert to raster?Thanks
