Adobe Illustrator 2025 is demolishing my memory and I can't figure out why. I have a fairly new macbook pro (M3 Pro). I've also recently updated to macOS Sequoia 15.1.1. I typically work off of files on my desktop. I am currently working in a single file that only has a few small artboards and it takes a long time to perform any action, even type a letter on to the screen. My macActivity Monitor shows that AI '25 is taking up 4.23 GB. I had been using Illsutrator 2024 with no isssues up until a week or 2 ago. I used to be able to have many large files open at once w/ no issues and now all of a sudden I can barely work out of 1 small file.This is drastically affecting my work performance. Please help??

hello Adobe,While scripting, I oftentimes want to know what is the currently active tool, so that I change what my hotkeys do based on that.For example, if I have the paint brush or the blob brush tools selected, then I want [ and ] (or other hotkeys) to change the brush size, but if I have other tools selected, then I want them to increase/decrease the width of currently-selected shapes. Another example would be to switch to the zoom tool using any given hotkey as long as it's held, and then go back to the tool that was currently selected, or we can use that to "spring-load" tools...Just having "app.currentTool" (just like photoshop), even the tool name without any of its parameters, would open up a whole new world of possibilities for scripting, especially that now we have app.selectTool() . Exposing the tool functions within "app.currentTool" would elevate Illustrator a whole new level, but baby-steps, I guess. I'm not asking for much, am I?Currently, I keep on tracking what tool is

Does anyone know why I am missing parts of my design once i try to put them close together? 

The recent update to Adobe Illustrator has an annoying issue. It has to do with text / fonts in a document. If I change the font to a set of text, but then attempt to change some of the text, it reverts the new text to the previous font that I initially started with. I have nearly 30 years of experience using Adobe Illustrator so this isn't a user error issue. This happens each time I update text in any document I'm working with, since the most recent update.

Seit der neuen Version wird bei mir die Schriftfamilie in der Steuerleiste hinter dem Arbeitsbereich Fenster angezeigt, somit ist keine Schriftart auszuwählen möglich. Alles andere funktioniert richtig.Wenn ich mein Fenster oben anhefte, sodass Tabs entstehen, dann funktioniert es richtig.

Hi There, the title says it all. We need an option that auto-places imported images into a bounding box that can be cropped by dragging handles, and offer frame and corner options with no extra work - just copy the way InDesign does it. Currently, you have to use clipping masks, or that silly crop tool which resets the crop everytime you use it. Both are convolute and cumbersome workarounds for something as common and basic as cropping images (especially in 2025). Hope that makes sense. Cheers, Ben

Hi everyone, i work in France and I. thought i could use an english illustrator version with an azerty keyboard. But it got tricky as i realised it would not match my azerty keyboard automatically. Is there a way  to indicate to my english illustrator version (somewhere in the pref. ? but i couldn't find it) to switch to AZERTY keyboard instead of QUERTY ? (NB. Azerty, only for some softwares, not for the entire system)It's a bit of a mystery, because, for instance command + A (correspondance on a querty keyboard = command + Q) or command + W (correspondance on a querty keyboard = command + Z) are working fine. On the other hand, for example i created a personnalised shortcut with a ")" - in the EDIT/personnalised KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS section it shows the shortcuts with the ")" sign (azerty) BUT on the illustrator OBJECT/ARRANGE menu. It shows a"0" instead of a ")" (as on a QUERTY keyboard).I wish to continue working in english wich should be so much easier, but i would like it to m

So, when I make something with my brush, I don't know what's going on with the coloring alongside the brush outline.

Dear team, I am looking to recreate the following infographic:              I took a stab at it and was able to make something as follows. However, the issue that i am facing is with the trianagles (with the rounded tips) that go around the circle. They don't look right. I tried to do that with the rotate tool, but the symmetry is all messed up. I don't have the orginal Illustrator file for this.              I was wondering if you could please guide me on the right workflow for the same. Thanks! 

I am having an issue with the Mac Studio M4Max which feels quite niche as I haven't seen it mentioned, I would love to know if other M4 users or others are running into it. When I have GPU acceleration on, and Smart Guides on, when I select any menu Item, after I get a strange 3 second lag.  The really odd thing is if i manage to keep my cursor inside the menu window before it closes It doesn't happen, but this is hard to achieve when trying to work effeciently. If i move out of the menu window as it closes which you usually do when working it lags for 3+ seconds. It happens with complex and non complex files, I could have a single box on the screen and it happens. Info:Mac Studio M4MAx with 64MB ram, 4TB HD with 2.5TB Free space.  Sequoia 15.6.1  - I don't want to upgrade to glass just yet as It's quite new as I am concerned about compatability.This issue was happening since I first got the Mac straight out of the box. As I was using Illustrator white outlines began appearing on my objects. I have tried setting Outline Width to zero and making new shapes. The outline remains on old shapes and appears with new shapes.

Hi, I work as a video editor and have been given quite a large project that involves patterns. The patterns are all saved as illustrator. Theres roughly 46 of them. I need to export each one as a differnt colour, I have 32 colours I need to do this in. I started doing it manually but its to time consuming. Can anyone please help? ThanksTom(Illustrator newbie) 

Hey,I've just bought an image from shutterstock which you can find here: https://www.shutterstock.com/image-vector/vector-illustration-magic-wand-isolated-on-461350540?src=n-0rDQWwOnpKe7HgTEQdh… The problem I have found is that it's not actually a 'transparent' background. The background is just the grey checkered pattern that is usually the background for photoshop etc. I'm not quite sure if it's me just being an idiot and not figuring out how to get rid of this background layer. I've tried opening it in Illustrator and then deleting the layer but behind the layer, there is a lot of effect layers like black circles etc. which won't look good. It looks to me like they used the background looking layer to hide the effects but I haven't got a clue. Please, could you take a look and help me with this problem.Thank you!!!

Hello everybody,I have a problem with the Illustrator export as pixel based images.JPEGs and PNGs are everytime 1 pixel bigger in width or height in the resulting image than the elements or canvas/artboard dimensionis set in illustrator.Because I have to create a new GUI with background images and afull set of icons it is really inconveniant to open every PNG in Photoshopagain for resizing and re-saving.Ticking the pixel grid button doesn't solve the problem unforunately.Can you help me with it? I'm using Illustrator 28.6 on a 2021 MacBook M1 Pro running macOS 14.5.  And sometime in the last week or so, when I copy a text object and then paste it in the same file (either on the same layer or a different layer), for some reason the text is now auto-converted to outlines.  If I select some text in a text object, and then create a new text object and paste the text into that object, the text pastes as expected. I've never seen Illustrator do this before, and except for Illustrator having updated itself 12 days ago, I can't think of any other change that should cause it to happen.  I've played around with preferences and can't find anything that changes it.  I have rebooted my computer, to no effect.  Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, or what I can do to fix it?  I'm attaching a simple file showing what happens (I tried an Illustrator file, but it was rejected saying that the "content type (application/postscript) does not mat

I keep hearing mixed opinions from different sources.I’m not a specialist, more of a theoretician, but as far as I understand, in offset printing PDF/X-4 allows for better print quality, since the RIP analyses live transparencies (which are not flattened in the file) and, if the press supports it, can even print nicely from the RGB colour space.PDF/X-4 is said to be a better, more modern standard that enables higher quality output. However, most of the print shops I work with — even those that consider themselves among the most advanced in the region — still ask for PDF/X-1a. It makes me wonder whether PDF/X-4 really produces noticeably better results, especially considering that in PDF/X-1a I can flatten all problematic graphics with transparencies, gradients, etc., in high resolution

So... I had some major issues with 30.0 after using it for a week. I did all of the deleting preferences and stuff that is recommended and it actually made it worse. I completely uninstalled 30.0 and reinstalled 29.6.1. It has been working beautifully, as it did before 30.0.  I decided to give 30.0 another chance while keeping 29.6.1 installed as well. I set all of my file associations to 29.6.1 and it was working as desired. ALL .ai files opened in 29.6.1 and I was able to work efficiently... until today.  I had a system crash and had to restart. Since restarting, Framemaker will only open Illustrator files in 30.0. No matter how many times I set 29.6.1 as the default, Framemaker will not use it. It used to prior to today, but... whatever.  I copy over all my actions, templates, graphic styles, symbols, brushes, custom keys, workspaces, etc. to 30.0. I open it, and it will NOT load my workspace. Restart Illustrator, still won't open workspace. I screen gr

Hi, I only realized I wasn't using true black for my proyect after I finished it. Is there a way to make all the blacks look like true blacks when exporting to PDF? I tried changing the output to have all blacks appear as true black but nothing I do is working. My only other option is to pick each text box individually and change the blacks to true blacks that way but at that point id waste less time remaking it from scratch since it's all in one layer.

Why did all my artboard text just change from city names to this gibberish?

I am trying to turn off the pink smart guides. I find them quite distracting. When I turn smart guides (in the view menu) but have Snap to Grid enabled, the smart guides stay on. It's just the ones related to the grid. This has only just started happening - usually I can snap to grid without any pink guides. Am I missing something? 

I'm having this problem with my Adobe Illustrator CS3 where I'll be using the pen tool, and out of nowhere (usually after I've undone a couple of things it seems), the program will get stuck on the hand tool, and won't switch to any other tool. Time seems to be the only remedy because the problem will persist even if I try to work on another file, or restart the program. It also carries over to Photoshop, which I don't recall ever giving me this problem. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi there! I'm just trying to see if anybody had the same issues and what kind of remedy you were able to find to solve this problem. I'm also very new to Ai and that will explain why I made a grave mistake. So when I discovered that Adobe Fresco has vector brushes and I could play with some settings, especially editing taper/smoothness/velocity then I was intrigued. I fell in love with Fr and created over 150 vector illustrations. All was great until I realized Fr does NOT offer paths. Then my whole word collapsed because I need to be able to modify how thick or thin my lines are. It is very crucial for me because I wanted to use my illustrations to create brass plates for foil accents on paper & polymer plates to be used for letterpress. Sadly then I found out Fr offers shapes, not paths, there are no strokes but filled shapes. I had a test and this is what happened when I tried it offset my path (I knew it'd not work but I had to try), I tried image tracing and despite playing wi
