No matter what; even if I create a new document with a few squares, and select one of them, Start Global Edit returns: “Global Edit is currently not supported for more than 1000 highlighted objects.”Looks like an awful bug to me, so what do I do?macOS Tahoe 26.5.2, Ai 29.3.1
Hello,I created my own art work in Illustrator. Every time I want to continue to work on it, the Generative A I pops up, it is very annoying. I also noticed it does not come up on all art work. I would like to disable the pop up. Please help!
Illustrator has become extremely slow recently overall, but it is especially noticeable when working with text.General UI actions feel sluggish, and anything related to text is much worse:- Opening the Character panel takes several seconds- Selecting text has delay- Changing text parameters is slow- Text-related panels respond very lateIn addition, Illustrator itself takes a very long time to launch and fully load.My PC is strong (RTX 4060, lots of free SSD space, updated drivers, latest Illustrator version), so this does not seem hardware-related.What I already tried:- Updated GPU drivers- Cleared temp/cache files- Reset Illustrator settings/preferences- Disabled GPU Performance- Tested on new empty documentsHas anyone else experienced this recently?Could this be related to fonts, Adobe Fonts sync, recent Illustrator updates, or some known bug?
I'm using Illustrator CC and I cannot select and move guides with the selection tools. The guides are not locked. I can select the guides in the Layers Panel, but I can only move with the arrow keys. I can also "Release" the guides once they are selected in the Layers Panel, but I still cannot move them with the mouse - only the arrow key. Summary of Problem:Guides are not locked. Some guides can only be moved when they are selected in the Layer Panels and when using the arrow keysNon-selectable Guides can be "Released" but only altered in color and line weight and still only moved with the arrow keys. Desired Outcome:I want to be able to move all guides using the mouse for greater accuracy vs the arrow keys.Thank you for your help.
illustrator cc 2026 layers panel showing thumbnail previews for the wrong items. For instance a transparent rectangle is showing the thumbnail for a qr code. A text box is showing the thumbnail of a transparent rectangle etc. Also, I notice that since the latest updates, if I save a file with all the layer groups collapsed, this changes upon reopening, which it never used to do.
Hello! I’m a professional who uses Illustrator to design jewelry concepts for work. This means that in any given file, I’ll be using a number of different images of jewelry parts that I drop in from my computer’s local files. I always embed the images into the Illustrator file so that I can send them back and forth between myself, my boss, and my coworkers easily without losing anything along the way. Sometimes, when I reopen my files, I will find that there are images missing from them. Often, over half of the images are missing. The images are embedded, NOT linked, so I don’t understand why they vanish. I will be able to see the bound boxes, but the image that should be within the box is gone. It gets in the way of my work almost every day and is extremely frustrating. We have tight deadlines and I cannot be constantly replacing images in my files every time I open them up to work on them. Is there any way to recover the images without having to manually replace them one by one every
Illustrator opens normally but shortly after I start working it becomes unresponsive and shows “Not Responding.” This issue began after the latest update. For the past two days I haven’t been able to continue my projects.I have to force close the program through Task Manager and after doing so, the Start menu button also stops working. I have to restart my computer again and again…I reset my preferences nothing changed. Then I uninstalled and installed again, nothing changed.I would appreciate your assistance with resolving this issue. The program is up to date. I use the latest version. My subscription is up to date. Thank you.
Simply launching Illustrator causes the PC's RAM operating speed to spike dramatically.*The average speed during normal operation is around 1000 MHz, but it jumps to over 7000 MHz when Illustrator is launched. As a result, the PC's temperature rises, leading to system freezes or forced shutdowns. How can I resolve this issue of the RAM operating speed increasing excessively?*My PC spec OS Provided / Type Windows 11 Pro Packaged Quantity 1 Processor / Clock Speed 3.6 GHz Processor / Generation 12 Processor / Manufacturer Intel Processor / Number of Cores 12-core Processor / Processor Number I7-12700KF Processor / Type Core i7 RAM / Form Factor DIMM 288-pin RAM / Memory Speed 4800 MHz RAM / Technology DDR5 SDRAM Service & Support / Type 1-year warranty System / Hard Drive Capacity 4 TB System / Type Personal computer Video Memory / Technology GDDR6 SDRAM Video Output / Graphics Processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
I recently installed Illustrator v30.1 on this MacBook and opened it. The device temperature spiked within a minute and the battery drain was insane too. It was draining like 1% every 45 to 50 seconds.I figured through the activity monitor that it was Illustrator as it had 147.2 under the energy tab.Weirdest part is, I didn’t even have anything in Illustrator, just a text in an empty canvas.I’m not sure where the problem strictly lies, my MacBook itself or the Illustrator version I got but I assume it’s the Illustrator since closing it makes the device go back to normal. The device specs and the version of software are the followingMacBook Pro M5 Pro 15c CPU, 16c GPU 24GB/1TB macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 Adobe Illustrator 2026 v30.1My old 13 inch M1 MacBook Pro had no such issues for 5 straight years but I forgot which versions I used on it. It’s kinda bizarre for a latest model to go through such. Any tips or workarounds to solve this? Thanks!
Hello - Background:I recently came across a pretty interesting article/tutorial on how to leave a live interlace gap between each letter in a word (whether for creative reasons and/or because you need to interlace the letters). And all of this while keeping the text editable. So it’s definitely a “Live” effect.I try to make an “action” of it. My question:Is it possible to replicate this “Live” effect between two objects/shapes? Since until now I haven’t been able to do it.Thank you.
Illustrator 30.8.1 changes PDF 1.5 to PDF 1.7 when using multiple linked TIFFsHi,I’m having a strange PDF export issue with Illustrator 30.8.1 on Mac.My normal workflow is:Photoshop → Grayscale TIFF → Link in Illustrator → Save as PDF 1.5This has worked fine for a long time, but recently Illustrator started exporting PDF 1.7, even when I select PDF 1.3, 1.4 or 1.5.I found that: No linked images → PDF 1.5 works. One linked TIFF → PDF 1.5 works. Adding more linked TIFFs eventually causes the PDF to become 1.7. I have around 70 linked TIFFs in each file, and several files show the same problem. Older AI files using the same workflow can still export as PDF 1.5. I need PDF 1.5 for my printing workflow. Re-saving the PDF in Acrobat as 1.5 makes some images blurry, so that is not a good solution. Is this a known issue with Illustrator 30.8.1, and is there a way to force Illustrator to export as PDF 1.5 while keeping the linked images unchanged?because need to send in system I must use
Hi everyone. After a couple of minutes working in Illustrator I suddenly get this PARM error message, then I'm not able to resize objects. After that I get stuck in outline mode for some reason and also am not able to save the document or save copies ect. I'm using version 29.6.1 on an Asus Vivobook Pro 16X with Intel i7 processor, GeForce RTX 3050 GPU and 16GB RAM. Studio driver, Windows 11 and Illustrator are all up to date.I restarted my laptop a couple of times, reinstalled the previous Illustrator version, then uninstalled and reinstalled the most recent version again. Reset my preferences too and still nothing. I've made sure bounding boxes are showing and I am using the selection tool, not the free transform tool. Free transform tool works okay but I'm working with text and want to keep the size of the text as is, just rezise the bounding box. I thought maybe the file is corrupt so I made a new document and copied everything over but no luck. When
This question is copy pasted from a previous resolution, except, in my case, I neither have MAGNET or DISPLAY PILOT or any such non sense. Illustrator started doing this randomly, since last week. Kindly help, TIA. [EDIT] Only way illustrator works normally is when starting mac in safe mode. I’m encountering an issue in Illustrator where, when selecting text or objects by clicking with a mouse or trackpad, there is a delay before the control points appear. Sometimes, the selected object even follows the cursor erratically. If I press and hold, the spinning color wheel shows up, making the operation unresponsive. Additionally, double-clicking to isolate an object or edit text content often doesn’t work properly.Oddly enough, these problems don’t occur when using marquee selection or lightly tapping the trackpad to select. My current setup is an M3 MacBook Pro with both the system and software updated to the latest versions, and I’m using the latest licensed version of Illustrator.Has any
I can't activate my illustrator cs6 licence on a new device due it being install on broken computer. My old computer has broken and i wasn't able to deactivate because i can’t even started the windows.how can i solve this problem?
We are exporting our ai files to svg files. After that we are using the id inside the svg elements to create interfaces for java classes. So we are strongly dependent on it.Since Adobe Illustrator 28.4. the export is broken.example from Ai 28.0.0, all 4 elements have a id.<!-- Generator: Adobe Illustrator 28.0.0, SVG Export Plug-In . It is impossible to have a workflow over a network drive that requires linked files because Illustrator keeps losing the linked pages. That happens when copy-pasteing and relinking documents. Also there is no bug reports category for Illustrator.
My canvas background on Illustrator is white, or, when I turn on Transparency Grid, white/grey gridded. When I go into Artboard Options or Edit Artboard, the background is normal again (when I exit the menu it is back.) I do not know how to return it to the normal grey I have it as. I have searched for help and nothing has fixed it (it isn’t Overprint Preview). I have no idea what is going on.Edit: I just figured it out. (After I’d just given up and posted my question!) I had to turn on Show Artboards in View. It’s always something stupid like that 😂
Is there workaround? All options are grayed out. Using Mac.
My illustrator crashed and reverted my file back to a VERY early version. I found the .aid files for the file, but it won't open the file. It says "This is an unsupported file type." I tried to change the .aid file to an .ai file, and that also didn't work. I can see the content in a .txt file, but that doesn't do me much good when Illustrator refuses to open it. 😞 Can anyone help?! This is hours worth of work!
Sometime in the last couple of months the beta for Illustrator is no longer available to ARM64 devices. If you previously had it installed, it can no longer be updated and if you happen to remove it, you can't re-install it. There was zero communication about this change, so I would appreciate some insight as to when we can expect it back.
Previously I have one file that works normally with GPU preview. But after playing around with Blend Tool and Pattern Brush (repeating simple vector rectangle, but far from crazy amount of repetitions; under 25 object repetitions). After that the GPU preview gone, and replaced by CPU preview. Scrubby zoom is disabled as well. BUT other file works just fine. I open different files, the GPU works normally. I had Reset preferences, and after restart, the problem still exists. Only that file has the problem. File damage perhaps?I did Save a copy, but the problem persist. The only workaround right now is simply by copy-paste the graphics into different file.I just wondered what’s the problem here? Why only one file has the problem?
Hi everyone,I work in localization and DTP, and one recurring problem with Illustrator files is getting text into a CAT tool and then back into Illustrator without manually copying text and rebuilding the formatting.I’ve been working on an Illustrator script called ai2translation to automate this workflow. The script exports native Illustrator text to structured HTML, which can be translated in a CAT tool, and then imports the translated content back into a localized AI file while restoring the original text formatting and structure.I’ve tested the HTML round-trip with memoQ, Trados Studio and Swordfish. It handles things such as paragraph and character formatting, threaded text stories, tabs, soft line breaks, locked text, hidden text and overset text reporting. There is a limited free trial for testing the workflow, and the full version is a paid product.I’m sharing it here because Illustrator-to-CAT translation workflows come up from time to time and Illustrator does not provide a nati
The road signs are not compound paths, just normal shapes. I tried grouping them and making the clipping mask a compound path -- no change. It looks like the signs are behind the roads, but if you look closely you can see that the fills have been removed when the mask was applied. I’ve tried every suggestion I could find, but no difference. Everything else in the map gets clipped correctly; it’s just the signs that get changed. Any ideas?
Hi. Over the last several days I've been working on some illustrations and both files have disappeared for no reason. I'm working on a 2020 M1 Macbook Pro - 13-inch, with the touchbar (if that makes a difference). TLDR: I've lost two .ai files (over 10 hours of work) which I'm sure I saved. I looked in every conceivable place they could have gone, including the trash bin and a full system search, combing through all .ai files on my machine. One disappeared within 20 minutes of saving the file. The next one disappeared (after saving) when I restarted my mac (in an effort to get the first file back) without actually closing the Illustrator project. THE DETAILS: Things I'm Sure OfThe files were saved before I closed Illustrator. There was nothing unusual about the files. I did not use any third-party plugins that might have messed with them. All shapes and elements in the file were created inside Illustrator except the JPEG I used to trace some elements.
I had trouble dragging and dropping from Photoshop 25 to Illustrator 25, but the last upgrade fixed this. Now after I drag and drop the image disappears a few minutes later and isn't there after saving.
