Already an older version of ID had this bug, but years ago the screen was white grey, now dark greay.how to happend: 1. Mac sleep, 2. Mac awake, 3. all ID screen is dark grey, even if refreshing or changing zoom or position. 4. I can select elements, but I see only the blue selectors, not the content or background. 5. need to quit ID and to restart to work as usual. 6. not seeing the content I sometimes do not know If I should save or not – risking to loose the work. 

So here’s a new one to me.I have a Google Sheet that contains content copied from the web so that HTML formatting could be seen in code form. For example:Here is a bunch of copy, <i>and this part is in italics.</i>However, when I copy from Sheets and paste into InDesign, I get this, with quotes added, and the HTML removed:“Here is a bunch of copy, and this part is in italics.”--------------------Now, if I add certain characters immediately before or after the <> in the code, such as Here is a bunch of copy, <i>and this part is in italics.</i>1it pastes without adding quotes… but I tried also doing this with a ~, and it didn’t work.--------------------And by the way - this doesn’t seem limited to InDesign, as it even happens pasting into a text editor… I think it’s something being created within Sheets that’s doing it. I’m working on a book, 288 pages. Plenty of images, all .eps files as I’m working with spot colours for risograph printing. I’ve been working with this set up for years and I never had this issue. When I try to export the file, the app crashes, and as it took some 30 seconds before the crash I thought that the file was too heavy for my machine (Apple Silicon M1, 2021, 16BG running Tahoe 26.2 with >1TB memory available). So I started splitting the export in smaller parts. It all went ok for pages 1-49 and pages 50-99, but when I went to export pages 100-149 the app crashes, sometimes immediately, sometimes after some 10-20 seconds of exporting. I found it consistent with the first export attempts of the whole file, which occurred after some 30 seconds—maybe some file is corrupted around mid book and if I skip that batch and proceed to export pages 150-199 I might be able to isolate the error and keep exporting the book. Nonostante abbia rimosso le immagini dalla pagina, non riesco a eliminare definitivamente i relativi collegamenti.Di conseguenza, ad ogni apertura del file mi compare l’avviso “collegamenti a sorgenti mancanti” e nel pannello Collegamenti vedo ancora le anteprime con il punto interrogativo rosso, che vorrei eliminare completamente.Inoltre, se clicco su “Vai al collegamento” non mi porta a nessun punto del documento e non riesco a trovare un modo per eliminarlo definitivamente: l’unica opzione che sembra disponibile è quella di riassociarlo a un’altra immagine.Qualcuno sa indicarmi come rimuovere in modo definitivo questi collegamenti mancanti dal file?Grazie in anticipo!

I have a half-page postcard with small images embedding. I’m trying to save it to my CC files so I can share with a collaborator, but it either never saves or takes 20-30 minutes to save. Is that normal?

I have an indesign document with a ton of different images, 1 on each page of the doc. I’ve updated a few of these links today and the newly linked updated images have this icon on the bottom left corner which I’ve never seen before. Any idea what this is or what it means? These are not text boxes, there are no primary text frames in this document and no threaded text.It is definitely attached to the linked image and nothing else, as it moves around with the image when I move the image.   

As part of our workflow, I receive a packaged InDesign file from another designer. We’ve recently incorporated alt text into all of the imagery to prepare for upcoming compliance requirements, so this is the first time I’ve run into this. She’s added all the alt text on her end and packaged and sent over, but when I open the file and update modified links as per usual, all of the alt text is stripped from the images. The only solution I’ve found has been to ignore the automatic update and update each link individually. This seems to keep the alt text in it’s place.  Is there an easier solution? We have over 150 images in this catalog and going to add hours to our workflow.

InDesign hyperlink not working in pdf, which works in InDesign. If the text destination is applied color the link is not working in pdf but if color not applied it works in pdf. The pdf shows the link hand symbol but not going to destination.Tried applying color first then created hyperlink then also not working. What could be the issue? Why it is happening in pdf? Any solutions or suggestions to resolve the issue could be useful. Does applying color changes the text anchor property in PDF? The document is confidential, if adobe team email provided will send the InDesign document. 

This is happening all the time i’m running the most up to date version and most up to date version of windows. I acces files on drop box could this be causing the issue?

What is the latest version of InDesign that Peter Kahrel's kerning script will work with?

Hi, first of all,After researching quite some time I think it's time to put the question here.I've been working on a group project in InDesign lately so I have some texts sent to me and directly copied them in. InDeign didn't know some Fonts, so I changed those, but in the end it had no problem. But after exporting it, Acrobat tells me there is an unembedded font (T3Font_0) in the document.1. If that Font is in the document, why doesn't InDesign know about it (It's litterally not in the list of used Fonts)2. How can I find out what the source of said Font is or locate it? I've heard taht it can come from Photoshop pictures or pictures in general, but do I really have to control everything seperately? Ain't nobody got time for that.3. I have been told, that in other programs you can turn off the subgroups of fonts, so they become individual fonts. That appearently worked fo them, os is that a possibilty for my issue aswell and if yes, where do i find that option in InDesign?Greetings, M

I am creating a booklet in InDesign with ads imported that I’ve created using Illustrator. A few times now, I’ve created an ad… imported it… and when I make sure it’s centered (Command + Shift + E), it does NOT center. I’ve looked at the AI file and there are no stray items. I’m attaching two screenshots… one of the Illustrator file in outlines, and one of the InDesign file… showing it is not centered, even though I have centered it using command + shift + E. I know I can manually center it… but I’m just curious why this is happening. If you think it’s an Illustrator issue, I’ll post this on that forum, but it looks fine in Illustrator… just not InDesign.

HiI am at my wit's end here - been trying to fix this problem for weeks, with no working solution.Working in InDesign - I cannot drag ruler guides across spreads - they only show up on an individual page. I have tried everything -Holding CTRL has no impact. Settings is set "to rulers per spread". Resetted all workspaces. Ruler guides cannot be dragged to pasteboard either I do not wish to put the ruler guide on master pagesAnybody know what the issue is here?Currently working in InDesign 21.1.0.56Windows 11Thanks,Nick

Currently having an issue with my undo/history function. I seem to only be able to go back 2 or 3 commands before the entire history disappears. pls help!

This happens to me every now and then: InDesign completely messes up the preview on my screen. If I zoom in or out, it usually disappears.At first, I blamed it on my old computer, where the graphics card was probably failing, but the same problem persists on my new Mac Mini.It doesn't seem to happen at all; it's completely random. This issue is still not fixed with the latest update (21.0.1), and it's even worse.If I move an object with a drop shadow, InDesign "moves" the entire shadow. Zooming in and out doesn't help; I have to completely close and reopen the document for it to work as it should.

I just updated to InDesign 2026 and I'm struggling with the change to resizing split windows. When I'm in the 2-up vertical view (which I use all the time to compare documents), I used to be able to click on the space where the tabs of the windows met at the top and just drag left and right to resize.It looks like I can't do that anymore—I have to click down at the bottom of the windows and hit just the right place in order to resize them (and then it does some automatic resizing first, which is incredibly annoying). Does anyone know if it's possible to get the previous resizing ability back? The new way takes longer and is much clumsier, especially as I am constantly resizing back and forth.

After the most recent update I had to create a document using assets from older indesign files that previously never gave any issues. Now the dropshadows from multiple (different objects) move all over the place (away from the object as if theres a fixed lightsource) when I move these objects. When I turn off the dropshadow of the object, move the object and then turn the shadow back on it will have the shadow in it's correct position. When I move the object around multiple times it will start glitching the entire page until I move my cursor over it again. When I change the path of the object the displaced shadow will snap back into it's correct position, making me think this is a graphical display issue.  In the example below you can see how the dropshadows moved. (left one moved up when moving the object down and to the left. Right one stayed closer to it's original position but offset, middle is the original position before copying and moving).  i'm working on a

I regularly create interactive pdfs in InDesign which have buttons to navigate between pages. The document I am currently working on has round cornered buttons that bleed off the page. When I export to pdf these buttons aren't stopping at the edge and show the bleed. No other elements that also bleed off on my artwork are doing this. I’ve created button in this way previously and not come across this before. Yes, I could crop the buttons so they don’t bleed, but that’s extra work that has never been needed before. Hopefully the attached screenshot shows the problem, the image on the right is my InDesign doc and the one on the left is the pdf. This pops up when copy/pasting a vector image from Illustrator to InDesign. Only from recent update.Needs to be fixed ASAP.   

I just installed InDesign (planning to make a book for print). When trying to export to PDF, I always get this warning (in the Export Adobe PDF dialog, see screenshots below):"The preset specifies source profiles that don't match the current color settings file. Profiles specified by the color settings file will be used."I get this warning even when trying to export a single page document with no content. I am new to InDesign, but I have used Photoshop for 15-20 years and have a good working knowledge of color management.What is the warning trying to tell me? And how can I fix this?I am using the standard [High Quality Print] export profile (changing no settings). In the Output section I have Color Conversion set to “No Color Conversion” (no “source profiles” here).What is meant by “the current color settings file”? After updating InDesign to 21.3 it broke DLLs and will not open. Error: “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)” You can repair C++ redistribution (although that is a temporary fix as InDesign will break the DLLs again) Uninstalling 21.3 and installing 20.5.3 is recommended.

I have a top of the line machine. i9-14900k, Radeon 9070XT, 64gb DDR5 RAM, and a fast NVME drive.InDesign lags more than any adobe program, because of the AI Generated Alt Text, which is enabled by default and I cannot disable it, as I have a pro plan.Every time I drag an image onto a file, it lags for a good 5 seconds while the AI generated text does its thing. I want to disable this feature fully. I do not use any AI in InDesign.Please recommend a way to permanently disable this feature, as it nearly doubles my working time on any document, lagging with every adjustment. If I have to edit something in the registry to do so, or block something on a firewall, so be it. Please release me from this torture
