Hello, I would like to know how to put a ruler in the exact middle of the page. Is there any "easy" way?The aim is to print a small book for my daughter, but I need to be sure that the middle is in the real middle, so that no page would be cut nor “flood” other page. It is my first time using InDesign, so I’m really groping in the dark. 

Hi everyone,I’m working on a multi-page document in InDesign and recently changed the page margins. After adjusting them, I noticed that my text started reflowing unexpectedly, causing overset text and layout misalignment across several pages. Some paragraphs shifted to the next page, and spacing looks inconsistent. I’m using paragraph styles and linked text frames. What’s the best way to fix text reflow issues after changing margins without manually adjusting every page?

I’ve been having major issues with InDesign locking up ever since this update. It doesn’t crash so it doesn’t send a report either. At least two times every day, I need to either force quit the app or restart. It is very frustrating!

Adobe InDesign crashes every time I try to place an test (unlicensed preview) image into a frame from my Creative Cloud libraries. Licensed images work fine (but I can’t license every image I think I might use), images saved to my computer seem to work, and dragging and dropping mostly works ok (but I don’t want to have to resize the frame and redo the effects every time I add a new image). It’s specifically preview images from my Adobe CC libraries.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe InDesign and Adobe Creative Cloud, restarting my computer, and clearing preferences multiple times.I am using a Dell Precision 3260 desktop with Windows 11 Business version 23H2. The InDesign version is 21.2 and was just updated today. (The issue persisted before and after updating.)Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Please advice how to solve a poor quality problem (Artefact) when placing a pdf files (with contents graphics) in InDesign, even the Adjust Scalling Percentage was unchecked, display Enable Anti Aliasing was checked, Display Performance all Higher.I attached the screenshot.Result by InDesign ver 21.2Result by another apps:Result by another appsGeneral SettingDisplay PerformanceOriginal PDF source Please advice how to resolve it. I am experiencing a reproducible issue in InDesign: A pure vector AI file (barcode) is placed and linked in the document. When exporting the PDF via File → Export using PDF/X-4 or similar, the AI graphic remains fully vector-based. However, when creating a PDF using File → Package → Create PDF with the exact same PDF preset, the AI graphic is rasterized and becomes an image in the resulting PDF.  Expected behavior: The AI file should remain vector-based in both export methods when using the same PDF preset. Question: Does the Package → Create PDF function use a different internal export engine or rendering process compared to the standard Export workflow?Is this a known regression in recent InDesign versions?

Hi! When I publish my project (pitch deck) online, most of my gifs will not work at all. They don’t play. I’ve placed a bunch of them in smaller frames for layout purposes and I understand this may cause a problem but the layout has to be what it has to be. I have the most recent version of InDesign, I’ve tried most troubleshooting options, but I’m looking for something to help me.  To Adobe: it is disgusting that an industry standard software is so grossly incapable of handling this. I’ve worked around the clock for days to get this presentation to my client and I now have to consider upending everything and moving to a different software because the publish online feature is simply not built to handle tough things. I paid so much money for your service and feel disheartened that all my work has gone down the drain. 

I added page numbers to parent page/spread, but they’re not showing on the document pages. As you can see from the screenshots, pages show A-Parent is applied, and A-Parent has dotted text frame set up as current page number. Layers of document pages show they are not hiding behind the background, they just aren’t there. What I’ve tried already:Closed file and InDesign, restarted & reopenedApplied A-Parent againChecked layers panel for page numbers behind backgroundClearing overrides (weren’t any)Checked that A-Parent layer is set to show and printMade copy of parent and applied thatMade/opened copy of INDD fileExported/opened as IMDL file I’ve done this before, and can’t figure out what is wrong. What am I missing? What else can I try? Thanks for any help!   

Not that fixing a glaring defect should be a “feature request,” but you can’t even do that:And I love how InDesign isn’t even shown as a product.

• See Screenshot 01: I have an object box showing a partial floor plan- it is sent to Back. I also have a text box - It is sent to Front.• See Screenshot 02: The text does not show when I move it onto the plan - I can see the edges and handles of the box but not the text. Neither box has text wrap turned on.• See Screenshot 03: In Object Styles the Graphic Box has a + sign appended (I do not know what this means)I have applied text on top of an object box numerous times this way but never had this result - what is happening ? 

I want to be able to reset scaling values on objects in InDesign, without changing their size. I found the following script snippet online, that does the job:app.selection[0].redefineScaling();But it only works on one object at the the time, even if I select multiple ones. Is there a way to make it work on multiple objects? Keep in mind that I know next to nothing about scripting 😅

Using object styles erases custom image descriptions. I think this is new behaviour, although I am not certain. If I apply an object style to an image, it sets the alt text to custom and populates the image description field with whatever was there when the style was created. Object Styles should not inherit alt text, just in case that needs to be said out loud. Is this a bug? 

I’m experiencing two ongoing issues with InDesign’s Review feature that have been consistently reproducible for the past three months. Issue 1: Review links fail to update on larger documents When uploading a publication for review, I can no longer update the existing review link. A persistent error appears stating: “There was a problem updating the artefact.” This workflow functioned reliably until approximately three months ago. To rule out local issues, I tested the same document and process on a second machine, with identical results. Through testing, I’ve found that if I halve the document size (testing both the first 30 pages and the last 30 pages independently to rule out a problematic element), the review link does update successfully. This suggests the issue is related to document scale rather than specific assets. The publications I work on are graphically intensive magazines, typically around 2.5GB in total size. I have a series of text boxes which are threaded. I would like to be able to include (automatically) an indicator that this item continues on page X or on items that are continued that this item was continued from page Y  - like they do in newspapers or other publications,  How can this be done?

I’m trying to use Position Images 1.043 in InDesign 2026, and I feel like its behavior has changed since the last update. It’s hard to describe what exactly is happening because it feels inconsistent, but I’m constantly running into “Error: This value would cause one or more objects to leave the pasteboard” when trying to do “move image only” operations. This is especially problematic for me because I’m trying to position images so that three sides of the image are outside of bleed. My best guess is that something happened with how it’s finding the 0, 0 point or reference point.Is anyone else having problems with Position Images 1.043 in InDesign 2026? Did 2026 change anything that would cause this?

I need to basically tag some text, to associate it with a particular issue. I want to change its color, and that’s all. I can find no method to mark text in a searchable way without overriding all of its characteristics.We don’t use character styles anywhere in our documents, so this would be a safe way to do so. But how do you clear any characteristic from a character style that you don’t want to set?

Is there a way in InDesign to convert all text to outline? I would prefer not to go to every single page and click on the text block then convert to outline. I tried to find a way to do it in Find/Change... but nothing.A bit of what the file is, I am sending addresses to be printed on envelopes. InDesign is the best option with using Data Merge from a .csv file but it would be nice to convert all text without having to convert everying in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Please don't respond with I shouldn't be converting to outlines.

Hi,While typing in a table, in InDesign, how to use tab key within column?For example, if I have the text which have tab alignments (as given in example below), how to type them using the tab key because pressing the tab key shifts the cursor to the next column.1.  Who jumps over the lazy little dog.     cat          fox     lazy         dogPlease note that if I can define tabs within column then how to use them with tab key?

I have a half-page postcard with small images embedding. I’m trying to save it to my CC files so I can share with a collaborator, but it either never saves or takes 20-30 minutes to save. Is that normal?

when I import plain text into a Primary Text frame to create mulipage threaded text, the text keeps getting stuck mid way on a page in Overset for no reason. I have used this function almost daily for the last dog knows how long (years!) and it’s not working correctly anymore. It keeps stopping midway page 3 when I am anticipating 10 pages. It doesn’t matter if I repeat the action into a new document or using a previous document, it just stops, goes into Overset and even if I then try manually to put it into a new text frame (instead of using the Primary text frame it still isn’t willing to flow.) This happens as soon as a Paragraph Style (of any kind) is applied and I do not wish for Hyphenating - it stops working. (which has never happened before).This is entirely unrealted to e.g. word lenght etc. 

After the most recent update I had to create a document using assets from older indesign files that previously never gave any issues. Now the dropshadows from multiple (different objects) move all over the place (away from the object as if theres a fixed lightsource) when I move these objects. When I turn off the dropshadow of the object, move the object and then turn the shadow back on it will have the shadow in it's correct position. When I move the object around multiple times it will start glitching the entire page until I move my cursor over it again. When I change the path of the object the displaced shadow will snap back into it's correct position, making me think this is a graphical display issue.  In the example below you can see how the dropshadows moved. (left one moved up when moving the object down and to the left. Right one stayed closer to it's original position but offset, middle is the original position before copying and moving).  i'm working on a

 Hi everyone,I'm having a strange issue with the Fraunces variable font in InDesign 2025 and wondering if anyone else has encountered this.The static instances of the font (Thin, Light, Regular, etc.) display correctly. But as soon as I try to use the variable sliders to adjust any axis, the font suddenly switches to a completely different sans serif font. After that, it becomes uneditable, and the ⌘+Z (Undo) command stops working entirely within InDesign until I restart the app.I’ve tried reinstalling the font and restarting InDesign (and also reinstalling InDesign), but the issue persists.Same with InDesign 2024.Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround or known fix?Thanks in advance for any help!

Convertion of PDF to Indesign file by open the pdf file in  2026 version, the Kannada fonts are not rendering! More junks even using proper paragrapher composer. And paragraphs alignment are missing. And all the text is junkThis is proper PDF (Exported)So I am working for a newspaper that is Kannada daily (Prajavani Kannada daily in Karnataka India). Then what is the solution for this? We are planning to upgrade to 2026 version in comming march month.
