I’ve been having major issues with InDesign locking up ever since this update. It doesn’t crash so it doesn’t send a report either. At least two times every day, I need to either force quit the app or restart. It is very frustrating!

Hi everyone,I am dealing with a completely workflow-breaking issue on my Mac and I am completely out of ideas. Every time I try to place an image using Cmd + D (Place) or drag and drop any image into InDesign, the app freezes completely (Spinning Beachball) and takes an agonizing amount of time to respond.Here are my specs:InDesign Version:  2024 v21.6 macOS Version: Version 27.0.1 (26A434) Mac Model: Mac miniTo save everyone's time, here is an exhaustive list of the standard troubleshooting steps I have ALREADY TRIED, and absolutely none of them worked:Trashed InDesign Preferences and Caches completely (Using the shortcut on launch and manually deleting the folders). Exported the document to IDML and reopened it. Disabled "GPU Performance" in Preferences. Turned OFF Live Preflight completely. Set Display Performance to "Typical/Fast" and set Live Screen Drawing to "Delayed/Never". Granted InDesign "Full Disk Access" in macOS Privacy & Security settings. Removed all Offline Printer

 I want to use the curvy line tool to create a border around a text box with a white background. It looks great, but the box shape under the curvy line is still visible.I want all the protruding white bits where the curve indents to disappear. I want the curvy line to become the border, not just to sit on top of the box. Is this possible in InDesign? If so, how?If not in InDesign, maybe in Illustrator? If so, how?Thanks!

I’m trying to hide the context bar in InDesign and nothing seems to work. I click on “•••” and select “Hide Context Bar” but that does nothing. I’ve tried going under Window and unchecking “Contextual Task Bar”, and it will not uncheck. I’ve tried looking up tutorials but they all say to do what I have already tried.  Am I missing a setting that forcing me to use the context bar? Edit: This forum for some reason is not letting me upload PNG nor JPG screenshots for some reason.

good morning,i need to know what is the difference between save a indd document as IDML CS4 or export the same document as IDML.I notice the size is different so I suppose also the content and structure.Why and when to choose SAVEAS instead EXPORT ? thx

I have a huge file of data, which I have put into a table in Indesign. It will be made into a printed book.Since the width of the book page is wider than the table, I set the page text box as 2 columns so that the table is now twice on each page.  The issue is that the rows are not all the same height so the 2 columns do not line up at the bottom of the page.Is there any way to sort this?

Hi, I’m having an issue with white areas appearing between the arrows. These are just standard white shapes, but they remain visible in PDF/X-4 and "small size" PDF files. I’ve tried various methods to remove them, but nothing has worked. How can I resolve this?

How can I make this banner disappear for good?I'm tired of having to click the “X” after every PDF export.Thank you

is there a way to pack all fonts etc for a document ready to copy the project to another PC.i have a 350 page document book on one PC and I want to open a new document with the same fonts, page sizes, paras etc. Don’t want the currnet book text or the links to images.So many progras now enable you to ‘pack’ everyting needed into a folder for transfer.Can Indesign do this, I have an older 17.1 x64 versiion.Thank you

I have developed an interactive PDF in Adobe InDesign and exported it using Adobe PDF (Interactive). The PDF contains multiple buttons that use Show/Hide Buttons and Forms, layer visibility control, page navigation, and objects set as "Hidden Until Triggered".The PDF works as expected when opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader, where all interactive buttons correctly show and hide layers and perform the assigned actions.However, when the same PDF is opened in Microsoft Edge, the interactive functionality does not work correctly. Some buttons are visible but do not respond, and the show/hide actions are not executed.My questions are:Does Microsoft Edge fully support InDesign interactive PDF features such as Show/Hide Buttons and Forms and Hidden Until Triggered objects? Are there specific export settings in InDesign that improve compatibility with Edge? Is this a limitation of Edge's built-in PDF viewer, or could there be an issue with the PDF export itself? I am the Founding Music Director of a non profit orchestra. I use legally purchased CS6 (from Tech Soup) to create concert program booklets, brochures, etc. CS6 is installed on only ONE computer as I am one man with dozens of jobs, all needed to make Mozart come alive. Adobe customer service writes that I have reached the 2 computer limit. This is NOT correct and I am getting the run around, pointing me to this forum, where I have read that only Adobe people can help me directly. I need to have a backup system, ready to go, if I am close to the rehearsals or the concerts. There is only one working computer in my office. Hi everyone,I’m having a recurring issue with InDesign and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem.Whenever I place an image in an InDesign document and then try to scale or fit the image to the frame, InDesign sometimes completely freezes.For example, I right-click on the image and choose an option such as fitting or scaling the image to the frame. At that point, the right-click menu stays open on screen, my mouse cursor changes to the loading circle, and InDesign stops responding.The strange part is that the freeze seems to affect more than just InDesign. I can no longer type, close InDesign, or properly switch to other applications, including non-Adobe applications.Even Task Manager becomes difficult to open. I can only access it by pressing the Windows key and navigating from there. The normal behavior I encounter after running a script on an entire document, is that hitting undo jumps to whatever page I ran the script from.Just now, running the same script and hitting undo kept me on the same page I was currently looking at, so I could toggle back and forth to see changes to multiple pages. This is PREFERRED for some of my scripts and edits within InDesign is there a way to toggle this on and off? Closing InDesign and reopening a document restored Behavior 1 on the same document the only thing I can think is the prior session the file had crashed, and opened a temp version. Behavior 1:Page 1 → run → Page 2 → Undo → Page 1Behavior 2:Page 1 → run → Page 2 → Undo → stays Page 2

Whenever I install new fonts from Adobe's font website, the fonts do not appear in the drop-down menu on InDesign. I have restarted my computer, forced sync, and ensured that InDesign is up to date. I have also installed all these fonts directly onto my computer through the Creative Cloud, and they still do not show up.  This has been a problem four times now as I need to install new fonts for typesetting and book cover design regularly. Eventually, they do show up after hours, but that is not conducive to my work as these things need to be finished quickly. Is this a bug? Or this is an issue that I could somehow fix on my end? I was unaware that InDesign AI was now creating alt text, and even more surprised that the AI thinks this brown background image has a nude figure in it. Is AI good for anything?

When we apply a paragraph style, the font is applied but the color never is.We still have blue characters underlined in blue.We tried changing the colors, but it doesn't work. We're using CMYK in this project. In the first screenshot, you can see that the “Text2” style is applied and that the font and font size are correct, but the color is wrong.First screenshotIn the second screenshot, the selected color is indeed black in CMYK, but the text is still blue.Second screenshotThis issue occurs with all paragraph styles, whatever their colors are.How can we get the paragraph style to apply???Thank you for your help !

The new feature auto generates pornographic alt text in pictures it cannot seem to identify. It does seems to work ok on real photos but all complex icons have nude people and body parts described. It seems to me instead of giving a warning that it can’t identify a content it correlaties it to pornographic content. I don’t know if there was no introduction/pop-up to this new feature or if I simply missed it, but auto generating nsfw text is not okay. Why is there no filter that stops it from doing so?   

I want to publish my interactive pdf file online, but i get this error message everytime when i do so, anyone know how i can fix it?  

I would like to understand why the new Generative AI options for inDesign that cost credits, were on by default?Briefly, I have ended up with an annual medical report full of hundreds of unwanted, incorrect alt texts that I have had to remove.To add insult to injury, these unrequested alt texts cost credits! There is no simple way to strip these out (tip: please add this feature) I have had to resort to a python script to clean this document This could have been avoided if my inDesign update had offered me this feature via an opt-in dialog.

For the past month or two, any time I try to Place a file or update a Placed file, InDesign usually freezes. The cursor turns into the spinning circle. I can close and save the files after this, but cannot close the InDesign app. I try various ways to place the files. File > Place or Ctrl D or copy and paste the placed file from another InDesign file. The files I use are typically on my Google Drive and I’ve installed the Drive app on my machine.This is REALLY getting annoying. Adobe used to be so good with bugs. Any ideas? Hi everyone, I’m exploring ways to automate a publishing workflow using Adobe InDesign, and I’d like to confirm if the InDesign API would fit my use case.Here’s what I need to do: I’ll receive structured data from a web page (for example, text fields like title, subtitle, author, and body).This data should be automatically placed into a pre-designed InDesign template. The result should be returned as an .INDD file (or at least a file I can open and edit in InDesign afterward). Essentially, I want a web service that takes JSON/CSV input, applies it to an InDesign layout, outputs a native InDesign file (and optionally a PDF). So my questions are:1. Is InDesign API the best way to achieve this? Or would I need InDesign Server instead?2. How can I gain access to the InDesign API?3. After correcting a page number in the Hyperlinks panel (Edit Hyperlink), then applying the style to something other than [regular font underlined blue link style], the page number reverts to the previous page that text linked to in the Table of Contents.I’ve now deleted all the hyperlinks and will try replacing them with a new link for each page number.
