Hi all, Need help, my cursor is not on the object i am trying to move (Transform) its about 4-5 inches away when i select it. i have tried to replicate this in an image but when i screen grab my cursor disapears (imagine the makeshift triangle is my cursor). Program - Indesign 2025

Hi,I have a couple of Illustrator graphics linked in my InDesign file. However, I noticed that some of them don’t display an ICC profile, while others do. The printer mentioned that my file needs to be in Uncoated FOGRA 52. Why might this be happening? Should I worry about it, or does it not matter as long as the InDesign file is set up with the required color profile?Thank you!  

I have still another problem. When I add a page the text does not flow along, but the textframes simply change position. The same goes with the anchored pictures, which normally go to the inner side instead staying at the outer border.What can I do (also to keep the picture _always_ near the outer border?This problem is not new, I have always had it.Thank you for your patience,Marlene

I seem to be having a problem with variable scope, I wrote the below script that works fine by itself, but when I add it my main document .search always results in -1, even when it's searching a string that should result in 0+. I found that moving it to the very top of my document it works fine, but moving it below even the first function with everything commented out it's wrong. Seit meinem Update auf InDesign 2024 funktioniert meine Pipette nicht mehr.Ich arbeite viel mit mathematischen Formeln, viele Zeichen müssen über die Zeichenformate speziell formatiert werden (kursiv, mathematische Sonderzeichen etc.). Mithilfe der Pipette ging das relativ zügig. Seit ich InDesign auf die Version 2024 (19.4) geupdatet habe, kann ich das gewüschte Zeichenformat zwar über die Pipette aufnehmen, aber nicht mehr an die anderen Zeichen abgeben. Es ist sehr mühselig und dauert extrem lang, nun jedes Zeichen einzeln auszuwählen und über das Zeichenformat-Fenster zu formatieren.

EDITED TO ADD: Just discovered that the scaling starts working when I increase the stroke width above 1pt. It even works at 1.01pt, but 1pt or less and it doesn't work. This seems like an odd restriction! Is there any way around this?Since the last InDesign update I am having a strange problem with the scaling of arrowheads on the end of strokes.When I add arrowheads to the end of a stroke, they do not respond to the scaling controls. They appear the same size no matter what scale I set. I can't find anything about this online, and not sure if there's just a new setting that would be controlling this? I have tried deleting the cache for InDesign, restarting, etc. but no change. I'm using InDesign CC 2019 on a 2011 Mac running High Sierra.Here is the stroke with both arrowheads at 100%:And here it is with one end set at 20%, but they are both still the same size:Any suggestions? My company has big problems with the speed of indesign. The last version of indesign seems to has big problem with the speed and the stability. This release it is too slow to open a small file, and with the big file...someone want a coffee...and a lunch... And it has a lot of stability problem. I can't open the same file i open 2 month ago. The new Indesign crash when i open a file that the old version open in 2 seconds. I lost 2 weeks of work, i try to reeinstal the software but there is no solution. The new version is slow and instable

Cuando exporto a PDF interactivo, unos botones funcionan y otros no. Alguien sabe por qué pasa esto? Todos los botones los hago de la misma forma. La interactividad en EPUB funciona perfectamente. Los botones tienen marcadores y vinculan a destino.Lo he probado 30 veces y estoy desesperado. Alguien sabe por qué pasa esto?Gracias!!

I am currently using this GREP to select when there are certain words+Numbers or other characters in brackets.(\(|\[)(Bild|Fig|Pos|Item|Pic|Photo|Abb)\s*\.*\d*\+*\d*\.*\s*~e*(\)|\]) This expression isn't ideal because it won't work if there are numbers and plus symbols one after another multiple times (as seen in the screenshot below).Is there a GREP expression that finds open bracket + Word and then selects everything until it finds a closed bracket?

InDesign overloading CPU usage on basic tasks. Running the most recent version 20.0.1 and it has a major technical issue so don’t update until Adobe has a fix. Otherwise you wil be stuck waiting for files to open, save and do basic operations.  Any solutions welcome 🙂 

Hi, I have couple of headings starting from the new page.   I have created a "Heading" style and given before space of 32 points and after space of 16 points. Heading point size is 20 points and leading is 16 points. Both Heading and text are aligned to custom baseline using object style. I have also used inset values in object style.   Now the issue is when the heading is between the text, it works fine but the moment it starts in a new page, "Before space" does not work. I know that "Before space" will not work here BUT I need a 32 point space before Heading One and Heading Three. How do I achieve that without using a new Parent Page. I have made an alternative heading method also with Rule Above ON and keeping it in frame with offset but that does not work here.   Any suggestions? I know there's a work around for this but it's ridiculous that I still have to hold down certain keys for InDesign to open on my Macbook Pro. When I try to open, I see the logo but then nothing. We pay too much money to use this for it to not work.

Hi team. I wanted to share what I do with documents using endnotes that want to have the same endnote referenced, using the same number, multiple times (sometimes many times) throughout a document. I couldn't find a good conversation about this in the forum and would love to hear others' solutions or thoughts on this one.My team, among many other things, produce long documents in the health sector where various mentions of product benefits trigger inclusion of a disclaimer, for which we use endnotes.Often, a product benefit is mentioned multiple times, sometimes many times, throughout a document.To illustrate, we might have "wellness benefit" mentioned on page 2, with an automatic endnote linked to endnote #1. It's also mentioned on pages 3, 6, 9, and 16. Each time, the same #1 should appear. But then an edit comes in that adds a new endnote on page 1. Hello good buddies, I have searched and looked for the right solution. However, I am looking for a solution for my own project description template. I am therefore looking for a way to insert data into a text box or table, for example, with ID#1 on page 1, which then automatically inserts the exact same value in the text box/table with ID#1 on page 2.I am aware that this can be done using Type > Text Variables > Define..., BUT this is not a viable solution for what I need. Is there a kind person who can explain how to solve this?Thanks in advance.Best regards,Carsten

Hello, I couldn't find out why the footnote numbers disappeared when exporting as ePub from indesign. Is there anyone who can help with this?

Hallo Ihr Lieben,ich brauche dringend Hilfe, da ich so mit InDesign nicht weiterarbeiten kann. Ich kann Objekte nicht mehr richtig mit der Maus verschieben (aber mit dem Cursor gehts) und Ebenen kann ich auch nicht mehr umsortieren. Wenn ich auf ein Objekt klicke und es verschieben möchte, kommt ein rotes Warnsymbol. Ich habe schon Neustart gemacht und eingestellt, dass die Voreinstellungen beim Beenden von InDesign gelöscht werden. Hilft nix. In Illustrator funktioniert alles. Was kann ich machen?Danke!!!

When I plug my laptop into a second monitor and have the display extended (double connected screens), there is a gap between where my mouse is and were the text frame (for example) that I am moving is located. It seems to be directly related with my laptop. I hooked a different laptop up to the monitor and there was no issue. I hooked my laptop up to a separate monitor and still had the same issue. Any ideas why this is happening? It does not happen on illustrator and I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign as well as tried installing older versions of InDesign.

I'd like to reinstall ID and just import the fixed settings file and get to work, what a relief!Does the preferences file now contain these settings?Perhaps the preferences should include these settings.Also, now the script folder “Samples” under the folder shortcuts are supported, if the Grep also support it, so that each time you modify can be placed on the D disk, not worried about losing. Thanks.

I have an Indesign book consisting of several chapters (about 500 pages in total). One of these chapters is the index, a normal document in which I have created interactive buttons that open the other chapters (in the exported interactive Adobe PDF).The problem only occurs when I open the index chapter, and when I do, all the other chapters open at the same time, sometimes directly in the upper document bar, sometimes in background (I know because a dot appears next to the documents in the Books tab). I then usually try to close all the other documents except the index, but when I click on a button and then open the Buttons/Modules tab, the document linked to the button opens again.Now, how can I avoid this problem? This is very annoying as my PC freezes and takes forever to open all the documents. I'm currently using version 20.0.1 x64 on a Windows 11 OS.

Hello InDesign community, I posted my issues on InDesign community regarding the error in fonts after exporting from InDesign that blockes the public acessibility to my work in this post click  and acrobat community in this click Unfortunately, my issues are still unresolved and was badly neglected for almost a month. So I am posting my issues here again, hoping that the support team will take my case more seriously, at best I want to get it fixed  but at least I want to know that it's fixable and it's still worth using this app or not.  Thank you in advance. 

I am creating a multi-page table that has a lot of information in some of it's cells. If I expanded the rows to show everything the table would be very long. Not what I want. I would like a way to save it in a virtual format that when you clicked on the cell, the hidden text would show up in a popup. #1) Is that possible, and how? #2) If not, are there any applications I can export the indesign table to that I can do this?
