I've been browsing the forum for hours now, I only get half-answers to my questions, so I decided to post myself, I have a few very specific questions.My book is 300+ Pages long. If that is too much for a sensible approach for idd, please let me know and we don't have to continue any further.1. I have sections (ca. 80) each one has a different sized image that is supposed to be wrapped and on the right side. In Latex all I need to do is write a tiny macro and dynamically pass the filename, is there anything comparable?2. The book is supposed to be translated to German, it's very technical, so I don't expect any automatic translation to work. Could that be done by dynamically linking text boxes to text? Other answers suggest Liquid and Alternate Layouts, but they seem to be designed to use different graphic layouts, not different texts, so I would consider this a hack.3. Can we link to image captions or from image captions to text?4. How complicated is automatic image labelling? I want

I have tables that appear in a two column format with table headers in each column. The table headers are not lining up. The right column's header aligns slightly above the left column's header. I have a title over the columns set to "span all columns". I've checked for invisible characters that might be interfering, checked the space-before and space-after paragraph settings, made sure I had true paragraph breaks, nothing out of the ordinary. I've tried different fonts to see if it's a font issue causing the misalignment. I've looked in the dialog boxes for any setting that might cause this to be ajar. Here is a screen shot of my setup. I have the hidden characters turned on so you can see my paragraph breaks. Any idea what might be causing this? I'm all up to date on hardware and software so it's not a "old version" or "old machine" issue.

Hi all.When I insert a note in the text if it has two digits (i.e. 10, 11,…), the second digit does not assume the superscript position (see image9. I've already tried checking the footnote, paragraph and character style preferences and... nothing. Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this issue—it's not the first time I've had two-digit superscripts, but this has never happened before.Thanks.

hola, estoy tratando de colocar guias desde la herramienta guias a una sola cara( estoy trabajando un folleto con hoojas opuestas) entonces quiro colocar guias a una sola cara, pero al momento de hacerlo me crea guias para ambas caras, ojo solo estoy situado en una de las paginas, se puede colocar guias a una sola pagina?

I am not sure what is causing this, idk if it is my laptop bugging out or indesign, however, it won't go away unless I zoom in, but when I zoom out again the lines appear again. please help me, I'm not techy :(( I have tried saving and going back into the document, I've tried exporting as PDF, and different display performances to no avail it won't go away. 

Hello again,I recently made this script to round decimals in the swatch values if there were any. Dear all,I am venturing into a multi-lingual work. Each version of the book will have two languages side-by-side, for example the first version will be German (original) and French (original translation), and the second will be English and Italian. While the setup of the InDesign document is straightforward in my mind (one layer per language, or couple of languages), one frame per language to allow proper reflowing, I am still in a previous phase. What I'm doing now is gathering/copying all the original German and French material to then have them be corrected and proofread by native speakers before any translation to English, Italian, and more will be possible.As much as I have worked in page layout, I am extremely dissatisfied with my current workflow and I'm looking for advice: I am using Apple Pages, but could use Microsoft Word, but creating multi-column docs there will make my life harder at the end when the DOC needs to be imported in InDesign. Hi! I was trying to replicate in a jsx script a specific object. It's the kind of shape-bounded text that you can do by creating a shape (e.g. cirle) and using the text tool to put text inside. I'm trying to replicate that object in code, but I'm unable to find the dependencies between TextFrame and Oval objects it involves. Any idea?Thank you!

Hello everyone,I just updated to the following versions:XCode Version: 15.2SDK Version: 20.0 (2025)MacOS Version: Ventura 13.6.4I believe I did the update correctly, yet when I compile, I get the following error. Does anyone know how to fix this?In addition to performing the update, I also changed these settings.If I try to compile one of the examples within the SDK, I don't encounter any issues.I compared the Build Settings of a project within the SDK with mine project and everything seems identical. 

ID 20.0.1Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1 I've had this issue since the feature was introduced and still have seen it fixed. Happens to co-workers, so I don't think it's native to me. Sometimes, when importing the comments & applying the edits, the comments list jumps all around. Have to wait 5, 10, 15 seconds for it to calm down. Not all PDFs nor all documents. I don't see a commonality for when it does happen.

I use InDesign frequently for work, creating and publishing a magazine. Recently I had a strange issue that I could not figure out! Randomly elements on one page would disppear and I'd find them apparently shrunk down to zero at the center of the page. What it should look like: Corrupted (?) page:You can see the green anchor points in the center spine of the pages in the second image above. The layers are still there in the layer panel and the link panel, but I'm unable to move or resize them. Any attempt to shift or resize them using the toolbar or anchor point, gives me the error "This value would cause one or more objects to leave the pasteboard." Evening setting the size or positioning to zero gives me this error. Attempting to delete the objects crashes InDesign (just completely closes). Attempting to move the page in the page order, crashing InDesign. Attempting to change the Master page number on that particular page (change or remove) crashes InDesign. I tried restarting I

Hi AllI have recently developed a problem whilst using InDesign. My cursor doesn't move fluidly, rather it starts 'stuttering' and sometimes freezing altogether. I did read on here somwhere that I should try and delete the preferences and reboot InDesign. Unfortunately, I'm unable to do that as I don't have access to my User Library (long story, but the person that set up my PC and installed all the Apps is no longer in business and did not give me the Admin password! Also, I've always been a Mac person and this is my first PC so I have very limited Windows knowledge). Instead, I updated InDesign to the very latest version which did help a bit (although it appears to be using the old preference file). However, if I need to open Illustrator or Photoshop at the same time as InDesign, the problem is back and 10 times worse. It is impossible to use the mouse / cursor in Photoshop or Illustrator unless I quit InDesign. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions please wi

Been working with Indesign using Abobe Caslon for several weeks now. Today, it has become unavailable in Indesign, but it is available in Illustrator. I tried deleting, rebooting (cold and warm) , and clearing the cache but no luck getting it to work again. Using Indesign 20.0.1, which was updated 20 days ago. This is not due to an Indesing software update. I searched for Caslon on my C: drive, but it was nowhere to be found. TCaslon did not work on several documents, including one I updated over 6 months ago.  Documents from 3 years ago, which looked fine a few days ago, are now missing Adobe Caslon. I am synching fonts through Creative Cloud. I tried turning it on and off with a reboot, but no luck. SInged in and out of Creative Cloud several times. Any thoughts on next steps?

InDesign is not saving my changes consistantly when I edit a CC Library graphic. Sometimes it will update, sometimes it won't. Mind you, these are very simple graphics... nothing crazy...  (ok, maybe one of them was). All graphics were created in InDesign and edited in InDesign. My workflow:I double click a graphic that needs updating to open it to make changes   edit it in InDesign Save and close document/tab scroll to item in library and place it in new document. It only gives me the old graphic and the thumbnail in the panel clearly shows it is not the updated version. My workaround is to delete the original from the library and save a new one... (when I remember - UGH! when I forget). Okay, so this has been driving me up the wall all day. Adobe Support has been ZERO help and I'm at my wit's end here. I am working in the newest version of Adobe InDesign CC. I designed my book with 0.5" outer margins, and 0.75" inner margins, with 0.125" document bleeds. When I try to export the book as a PDF/X-1a:2001 and using document bleed settings but NOT using crop marks, as required by Ingram Spark, my margins change to both being 0.5" on the PDF. The only way I can get my margins to remain the right sizes is if I do include the crop marks, but Ingram doesn't allow that. I've never had this issue before and I can't for the life of me figure out what's causing it. Why would including or not including crop marks effect the way I've formatted the margins on my book? How can I export without crop marks, but with bleeds, and not lose my margin formatting? Also, I have created some brand now experimental files to check if just my book file got messed up, but the issue is pr

Hi, I am trying to rebuild my resume using ID because I understand it will allow me to have more control and consistency of formatting, provided I know how to do it. The rather basic format I am creating is shown below:There are three primary features I need to capture. 1) Section Headings - basic all-caps 2) Item Entry - including nested style with bold position title and right-tab date range3) Item Description - to be a bulleted list I am not really sure what needs to be defined as a character style and what needs to be defined as a paragraph style. As you can see I have started to define some paragraph styles but I quickly realized I'm not even sure of the correct way to "build" multiple types of styles together descending down the page. Should I be hitting shift-enter after entering the Section Heading? And then selecting a different paragraph style for the item entry? Then selecting shift-enter and selecting the correct paragraph style for item description?&nbs

Hello all.I have an issue with Kashidas, I think.I am working with arabic text in the ME version of InDesign. All text is justified with last line aligned right. Each piece of text in its own text box finishes with a full stop. I have to export a PDF to send to a client for amends etc. This works fine until i start using Kashidas on any text. If i manipulate any text with Kashidas (which is very helpful for the odd spacing inbetween words in the justified text ) and export as a PDF then the full stop at the end of the text disappears!the full stop stil shows in InDesign but not in the exported PDF.does anyone know what is going on?

Have been asked to import text for the Cambodian translation of a fact sheet -- using the font Khmer OS_Content TTF.Certain glyphs that do appear in Microsoft Word will NOT appear in Adobe InDesign CC 2015 for Windows or Adobe InDesign CC 2019 for Mac, They show up as dotted lines.Have tried a number of paragraph and line import settings in Settings>Advanced Type>Default Composer includingAdobe World-Ready Single-line ComposerAdobe World-Ready Paragraph ComposerHave also toggled off Missing Glyph Protection.Protect While TypingProtect while applying fontsto no avail.Am pretty well stuck using INDD CC 2015 on a Windows machine using Windows 10 Enterprise.Anyone know of a plugin or scripting routine  that would solve this problem, or a source for Khmer OS_Content that is compatible with Adobe applications?
