Hi everyone!   Everytime I use InDesign, the app decides to crash at anytime. Hopefully it saves my file but still... it kills my vybe when i'm working on something important. Can someone help me or has similair problem?   Thanks!     <Title renamed by MOD>

I have an InDesign page that has many elements that are all on one layer. Is there an easy way or script I can use to move each individual element to its own layer?Here is a bit more of an explanation of why I need this:1. I understand this is not what InDesign is intended for, however I am in this situation and looking for an easy fix. 2. The screen shot below is of a website page design that was created in InDesign. I am showing the 1 and only layer in the file with its contents exposed in the layer panel. What I would like to do is have each one of these elements on a separate layer.3. The reason I want to do this is because I am then going to use a scrip that will export the page as a layered PSD file based on the layers in InDesign. I have multiple pages I have to do this for and it is time consuming moving each element to an individual layer one by one. I'm wondering if there is a script available that will take the contents of the layer and move each item out to a separate layer

How do I stop InDesign from blinking. Every time I go to edit anything or do anthing like drawing a text block or image block or copy paste, the background blinks. I have reinstalled InDesign, I have restarted my computer. I have the blinking turned off in Story Editor. It's very annoying and bothers my eyes. I'm super close to using Affinity and canceling my Adobe subscription.

Hi thereUntil today, I never had an issue with Share for review (apart from "Could not update the artefact" errors every now and then. But now, I only get the Share for Review window with just the "Only invited people can comment" option - I used to be able to select the Piublic access option, but this is now gone. And when I do create a share link based on the only option available to me, I get a red error box saying "Error getting invited people". The link it created also does not work - saying "Something went wrong".I have not changed a thing, and this only started happening today. I've tried:* Reinstalling InDesign* Clearing the cache and preferences* Logging in and out of my CC desktop app.Any help much appreciated.System: Mac Studio M1 Ultra running Sonoma 14.6.1, 64 GB RAM

Hi,I have designed a booklet in InDesign with standard setting (seems to be Fogra39). We have even printed it with a printing firm without issues. Now we are moving to a new printing firm and they want the export in FOGRA52. But if we switch the export our black K=100% text is exported as CMYK mixture (if I turn black off in Adobe Print preview, I still see the text in the 3 other colors) and the printing firm is saying that it will have undesirable shadows.  Problem: When exporting with a new color profile, our K=100% becomes CMYK.Desired result: use FOGRA52 for export and change just the export settings and still keep the text in K=100%Any idea how to do that? Here a few screenshots: NEW export settings (just showing the differences to the working export, which is just the color conversion into the target profile):This is the only change we do in comparison to the previous export that works just fine. This are the settings that work (Fogra39 and not color con

Bonjour à tous, je viens de changer de MAC et maintenant sur Indesign quand je veux augmenter ou diminuer un objet (bloc texte par exemple), cela ne se fait pas au centre de l'objet mais sde décale vers la droite ou la gauche.  Dans la nouvelle version d'inDesign, un message qui m'indique le nombre de pages et de planches vient se superposer sur les outils en bas du chemin de fer (voir image). De ce fait, je ne peux plus accéder à la corbeille par exemple. Je suis obligé d'élargir cette fenêtre, ce qui bouscule mon espace de travail. Comment effacer ce message totalement inutile ?

I've got an InDesign file in which I have placed 200 Illustrator .AI files. The Illustrator graphics have layers:A layer named EN-US for the English textA layer named NL for the Dutch text  I'm using InDesign version 18. How can I toggle these layers for all graphics at once, i.e. show the EN-US layer for all images (and hide the NL layer) and vice versa? Can I do this with an Extendscript?  Kind regards Yves

Hallo,ich habe die Creativ Cloud auf 2 Rechnern installiert. Im InDesign nutze ich häufiger das Inhaltsaufnahme-Werkzeug. Auf dem einen Rechner erscheint das Pop-Up-Fenster mit den Einstellungen, auf dem anderen Rechner leider nicht. Wie kann ich das einstellen, das es auch auf dem zweiten Rechner erscheint? Wir haben schon viel getestet und ausprobiert, leider ohne Erfolg.Danke für eure Hilfe.

Hallo zusammen, ich habe seit einigen Tagen das Probelm, dass ich in ID keine Auswahl im Menü (z.B. Farbauswahl) mehr möglich ist. Das betrifft fast alle Menüs und die dazugehörige Animation sieht imemr so aus, als würde ich versuchen das Farbfeld zu verschieben, was ich aber nicht mache, ich klick ganz normal darauf. Was ich schon versucht habe:Neuinstallation von IDLöschen bzw. Zurücksetzten aller VoreinstellungenInstallation einer älteren Version  ...alles bislang ohne Erfolg. der Fehler tritt auf, seit ich auf 20.0.1 geupdatet habe. Bei 20.0 lief alles noch normal. Aber auch das downgrade zu 19.5.1 führt nicht zu einer Beseitigung des Fehlers. Ich bin echt ratlos 😞 

Hi, I'm working on a table design, and I don't want this spacing below. When I adjust it, it removes one of the rows. Why is this happening? Is there a way to fix this? Thank you!  

I need to set this template up for an assignment I'm doing. I put the exact same units in from the tutorial video for the assignment but the live area and margins still aren't visible on my document. 

I am trying to create an object style that specifies x,y position and width, and then create other styles based on that one. However, it appears that size and position do not stay synchronized with the parent object style. Is this a bug or is this how it actually operates? I want to be able to keep that specification in one style and not have to update it in 3 other styles if things change. 

While working, my Indesign changes the dictionary in my default settings from German: 2006 spelling reform to 1996. It happens in a wide variety of situations. When inserting text (in a wide variety of ways) when I click a text field. I don't even have to have a document open. If I open the presets more than once and don't exit with OK but with Cancel, then it also changes.

I want to create an epub in InDesign of my book. On my title page (not my cover), I have a vector image of the title I brought over from Illustrator. When I publish the epub, the image is essentially reoriented vertically across several pages. (I use Amazon's Kindle Previewer to check my epub.) Here is how it's supposed to look:Here is how the image is distorted upon export:   

Hello,  Please may I get some help regarding a script aimed at moving selections up by a baseline height  - its part of a larger array of movement scripts. Anyhow...There is logic to centre a the smaller item in a group of two things. // Function to ensure smaller item is centered within the larger item So the script when run is making the box smaller with each time it is run, it makes the smaller object a baseline in height and keeps it centre  - Dont worry about the offseting being slightly wrong I am aware of it as if i reverse the shrinking origin that then offset is fine... anyhow  -- // Function to offset the position of the smaller group item -- is why is it not quite centre This works fine for graphic to graphic but if i try image to text where the text is smaller than the image then it doesnt work. Do not question why I am trying to make such a stupid script, it is the fault of a daft content management system which deals

Is it possible to use wildcart in user dictionary of InDesign?I use scientific literature citations with year and letter for multiple references by a given author in a given year: 2024a, 2024b etc. Those are flagged as potential missspellings. I would like to add something like\d\d\d\d\. to the user dictionary.However, I get error that dictionary words can only contain period as punctuation.The goal is that spellcheck will ignore all four-digits plus one letter "words", without me having to add every single possible combination manually to the user dictionary.Thanks!

The best I can do is to see if it is a spline object and, if so, what type, using the path geometry by calling the 2 functions below (error-handling code removed for the sake of clarity):InterfacePtr<IPathGeometry> pathGeometry(itemUIDRef, UseDefaultIID(); pathType = Utils<IPathUtils>()->WhichKindOfPageItem(pathGeometry); Are frames with "unassigned content" actually splines ?Very best regards,Olivier

These are a few pages that I placed from a Word.doc. I can't figure out what is going on with Page 1. It seems to have overset text but I can't find it. I can see it in Story editor but can't release it. Also, I can not resize it. Does anyone know what it is?Thanks for any help

I am using InDesign daily for more than 12 years. For years, we are crying for multi-core CPU or/and GPU acceleration (Win platform). The current situation, where all CPUs are favoring multi-core architecture with less focus on single core performance (the correct way) is making InDesign to be so absrud, that InDesign withing heavy/large workflows are borderline unusable. Right now I am sitting on 6k+ USD computer setup, upgraded to oblivion just to wait seconds to InDesign to zoom in. My last project was exporting for 8 hours and cca 30% of really big gigs are freezing without noticing. So you must constantly checking background tasks, and cannot even let this run overnight. Seriously what the hell Adobe.

I am trying to save an .indt file to Cloud Documents so it may be shared by members of my team. No luck so far. I can save them to a CC library, but you still have to export it locally first.      <Title renamed by MOD>

I'm encountering an issue with Arabic diacritics in Adobe InDesign. While working on Arabic text, I noticed that one of the diacritics (small maddah) is not positioned correctly in InDesign, though it appears perfectly in Microsoft Word. I've tried adjusting the font and settings, but the problem persists only in InDesign.Has anyone faced a similar issue or knows how to resolve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Thank you!

Hi,Is it a problem if I create my vector graphics in Figma, then import them into Illustrator to convert to CMYK and save as AI? Is that ok, or could it cause problems? I’m more confident and experienced working in Figma, and this would drastically speed up my workflow compared to working in Illustrator. Most of the graphics are very simple and straightforward to design, so Figma should be sufficient. The book layout is for print and is being done in InDesign. Thank you!

Hello,I am running InDesign 18.3 (because I had issues with newer versions and just decided to stya put) on Windows 10. When I run general find and replace commands, I have no issues. When I run most GREPs, I have no issues. When I run this GREP \h+(?!\n)$ to remove trailing spaces, the program crashes. I have run this in the past without issue. Only the last two times I have used InDesign have given me trouble. Any help would be appreciated.

When inserting an inline graphic into the middle of a text line, by default, the bottom of the graphic's frame aligns with the baseline of the line, as shown in Figure 1. However, there are cases where we don't want it to align with the baseline. For instance, we might want the graphic frame to offset downward by 20pt, as shown in Figure 2.This can be achieved by using void IAnchoredObjectData::SetYOffset(PMReal yoffset).
