Questions

So, I have a master page featuring three buttons at the footer.These are the usual [email] + [facebook] + [twitter] buttons.   This is a magazine and (once published) each button forwards (or shares) that specific page the reader is on.   Currently I have to manually release all buttons in all pages (command+shift+click on object), then also manually update the URL link in the Interactive panel.  I was wondering if there's a way I can realease just that specific buttons (which are contained in their own layer) of the master page. Something like selecting them in the master page and having the option to "release on all pages", rather than selecting all pages and releasing EVERYTHING from the master page.   Am I missing something? Hey,im working in a small printing shop for our university, and userdata for printing which arrives me is mostly unproffessional, with no bleed at all.Yesterday I used Photoshop to extend an image with AI to have a bleed area. What a glorious idea! And I wonder: Is this scriptable for InDesign? As a quick v0.1 version:Only works with image-containersShows a dialog for how much bleed to add(Hands image to ps, ps extends, image is placed again, container has to be extended by the ammount of the dialog v0.2 reads bleed from document-settings, only throws a dialog if no bleed is setvXdoesnt care if selection is no image, and instead exports the page

Have a group of users using synology NAS and have issues with Indesign files are locked all the time.Also remember this issue on a windows server network share once - But overall what is the best solution for this kind of solution of using files on network drive ?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello,I'm missing the Layout panel in InDesign, and I have no idea how to resolve it. I've reset multiple workspaces, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but the Layout panel is completely gone with no way to access it or its settings. Additionally, my W key is now set to blend mode instead of toggling preview mode, which is strange since I haven’t modified any keybinds and I have no idea how to correct that either.

It has almost been a year (Sep-Oct 2023) since I ran into trouble updating my ID document. ID started to misbehave: it would go to 100% CPU with spinning disk cursor and it would never come out. Once I let it run for ages, and at some point it ran out of resources and crashed. From that moment on, I was trying to find out what was wrong, I tried a lot (older versions of ID, starting from the IDML, removing caches, different fonts, etc.), you name it, I tried it. Hanging happened at various moments, but at one point I found a reliable way to trigger it with a certain paragraph edit action at a specific point. The document is a very large and complex document. It is about 240 Letter sized mostly two-column pages with 340 diagrams (sometimes inline, sometimes floating), index, references, etc., the works. Hey there ID nerds, I tried to search this online but couldn't find anything on the topic. After updating to the latest 2025 v20.0 version, InDesign crashes everytime I use redo!The report specifies "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" exceptionCode="0xc0000005"Deleting preferences, unisnstalling reinstalling, updating graphics drivers, windows update, nothing seemed to work. Eventually, I rolled back to v19.5 and that's working as flawlessly as before. Thought I will post and leave this here so there is a record of this bug/issue somewhere on the planet.

Hallo Community, ich brauche eure Hilfe. Ich bin derzeit in der Erstellung eines Kataloges, bei dem zwischen 35-50 Bilder je Doppelseite platziert sind. Bei jedem Bild muss natürlich ein Copyright eingesetzt werden. Gibt es eine möglichkeit mehrere Rahmen auszuwählen (20-30 Stück) und in alle Rahmen das gleiche Bild mit der gleichen Größe einzusetzen ohne es einzeln machen zukönnen? Bisher habe ich leider nichts dazu gefunden. Das Bild soll auch nicht über mehrere Rahmen gehen. Auch ein Rasterduplizieren funktioniert nicht, da jedes Bild unterschiedlich groß eingesetzt ist und somit keine Rasterung möglich ist. Das Copyright soll auch nicht als Text sondern als Grafik eingesetzt werden, da hier jeweils ein Logo mit dabei ist. Über eine Hilfe wäre ich euch sehr dankbar. LG Red

Sometimes when I apply a numbering style to a paragraph through GREP, the character styles misplace a few characters ahead.It happened to me more than once or twice, and with different ID versions and different computers, but I can never find a similar post anywhere. Why does it happen? What should I do? In the example in the image, the GREP query was to find ^\d+(\.|\))\s+(.+) and change it to %2 applying the Numbering Paragraph Style.

Hello everyone,    I am currently working on an E-Book in InDesign. Now I need to work through 500 pages to link the words to definitions etc. Is there an option to link the same word, for example "xy technique" to that chapter??? I know that I can use the option "search and replace" to change/replace words in the whole e-book. But I want to hyperlink a specific word to its`chapter, so it´s easy for the e-book reader to click on the word and hop to the definition. Because I don´t wanna go through 500 pages of text and search for every single word and link them individually.... 😩 I have multiple chapters and many words and definitions I have to hyperlink to....    <Title renamed by MOD>   Can someone pls help 🥲 Thx ❤️

Hi, In InD 2025 verison 20.0, the font drop down menu opens and stays open when changing fonts, and when performing random tasks such as exporting a PDF.   I've attached a screenshot of what I'm getting.   Any ideas how to stop this, or of this is a bug?   Thanks!Michael      <Title renamed by MOD>

Necesitaría que sean "1,2,3,4.." a través del documento. (las imágenes son de dos páginas consecutivas)Si alguien tiene una respuesta se agradece, saludos!

Hello. I'm working on a publication that has hundrds of anchored images within the text. I need to release them from anchoring and place them where they are but not anchored. I found some scripts that worked on earlier versions of InDesign, but I'm using v18.2.1 on a Mac. I'm not sure if the structure of InDesign changed or I'm setting up the script incorrectly because I keep getting a syntax error when I try to run the scripts (I'm not a scripter so I might be using the scripts incorrectly). Anu suggestions? Thanks,Lloyd

Hi community, I am trying to make a drop cap style that uses layered fonts.  I am also very much learning inDesign as an amateur.  Right now I understand how to take text in a text box and using layers make a multilayered font.  If I do it manually, I can achieve the right look with a background font of one color, a midground another, and the foreground with another.  With the layers it looks great.  I can even merge the three layers into one. I want to take this finished "triple font" and make it my drop cap font.  Is there a way to do this? Important: I am using this drop cap in a data merge and it will be applied to many entries (100's), so I can't go in and do it manually one-at-a-time.     Thanks for any help!

I'm creating a tall document of 1920x10800p (for the purpose of a scrollable website with the dimension). I would like to enter full screen mode in 1920x1080p resolution to see how everything would eventually look like in terms of dimensions and readability once I publish it.When I press shift+W it shows me the enitre image very small in the middle of my screen. Is it possible to do this? If not, are there any workarounds?  Thanks in advance for your replies!

Hola, tengo una revista hecha por otra persona que tiene textos con bordes de colores. El problema es que para mandarlo a imprimir tiene que estar todo trazado, es decir vectorizado. Al crear contornos (que es la opción que me proporciona Indesing) el borde de color del texto se modifica como si se volviera un borde interior y dicho borde no crea contornos, solo aparece el trazado del texto por lo que no tiene el aspecto inicial y no esta vectorizado correctamente que es lo que necesito para la impresión. En illustrator la opción de expandir o expandir apariencia si funciona correctamente con los textos con trazo exterior pero no puedo perder tanto tiempo en ir pasandolos de un programa a otro. ¿Alguien sabría decirme como conseguir lo mismo que en illustrator con indesing?

Does InDesign CC have a scratch disk?I have searched all over and can’t find this answer.I know Photoshop and Illustrators does, but I don’t see one for InDesign.

I'm looking to create book like the old Ace Doubles Science Fiction paperbacks, where there are two front covers and each book is upside-down with pages in reverse order from the other. It's reversing the pages that's the problem. Can't do it automatically in Acrobat as they've removed the Reverse Pages optuion from their Action Wizard. Is there a way to do it in InDesign?

I have a handful of RGB TIFF images placed in my InDesign layout. I open them in PhotosShop, convert them to CYMK and save them.  Then I open the layout in InDesign and I get the prompt that the images have changed.  Whether I select "Update links" or update them individually in the links pallet, the images reposition and change scale.  This never happened before CC 2019.   I checked the File Handling preferences and confirmed that the "Preserve Image Dimensions When Relinking" is checked.Please help!  I have a file with over a hundred images that I would like to update without having to fix each one manually.

I use the Ctrl + Shift + Alt + U keyboard shortcut but it does not work all the time.Like, once I'm in the New document dialog box, it won't work. At least with my Canadian Multilingual keyboard mapping in Windows. I always thought it would be "nice" to see the current units being displayed somewhere in the interface? I understand that I can, to some extent, "read" the current units out of the appearance of the Rufers but it's far from ideal.  Maybe a scipt that show the current units and give a choice of units to switch to in the form of a series of vertical radio buttons? Don't even need an OK button, to speed things up.    Any help is appreciated     <Title renamed by MOD>
