can't reverse document layout on Adobe InDesign 2024 (version 19.5)as an ex: if I need to work on translated document from English to Arabic I can't reverse the layout as older versions.note: preferences adjusted (apps>Deafault install language: English يدعم العربيةso it should support RTL languages but unfortunately the newest version doesn't support RTL layout.

I have a MacBook Air 2015 which operates on 4GB RAM. Recently I've been unable to download or access Adobe InDesign at all due to it now requiring 8GB of RAM to function. I was able to use InDesign last year but now don't have access to the Indd files I need due to this limitation. The CC app won't let me download older versions of the app either. Has anyone found a solution to this? (Updating RAM is not an option for my device.)

Hi, I have a paragraph style with custom bullets that I have used dozens of times. But the project I am working on currently has added an unwanted second-line indent.  I have fiddled endlessly with the bullet, tab, and indent settings and cannot remove the unwanted second-line indent. A tab could be the issue, but I can't get it to budge. I am using Indesign Beta. See the issue and setting below. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you! Paula

I am creating a very simple table orientated product style catalog for work. Starting off with 250 products and growing up to 6K. I use photoshop mostly, and not very fluid with InDesign. I figured this would be dead simple to automate, but keep hitting barrier after barrier. I'll explain the problems I am having to see is there are any soltutions. I am using a parent page with header, footer and page count. First off, data merge doesn't work with tables. Not sure why Adobe hasn't updated this. I found a script that I thought was going to bridge that gap, but I cannot get it to work. Hello, I am trying to design a text in Telegu but the characters keeps changing and spaces being added randomly.  We are usign the Mallanna font, and it seems to be one of the best to work with but it still had issues. I have multiple InDesign files that I use to create a brandmarks. Each brandmark is different size. I need help with a script that will change the page size to the items on the page, save, close and move on to the next document. Any help out there is appreciated. 

Hi,I'm using InDesign 19.0.1Im trying to export an accessible PDF. I've checked the tags on the paragraph styles and the object export options box. I've made sure I've ticked the create tagged PDF and include Bookmarks and Hyperlinks boxes when exporting to PDF. When I open in Acrobat  and look in the tags pannel it says no tags available. When I check the content pannel the containers all say <artifact> next to them.  I'm not sure what's going wrong? Can someone help? Thanks,

I have a large collection of 1-2 page PDFs that I need to make small edits to and maintain as documents for future edits. I am able to import a document into Adobe Acrobat Pro and use the optical character recognition feature to convert things to editible text and make changes, but I can't save the document in any lossless way from within Acrobat (other than exporting another flattened PDF).  Does Indesign support similar optical character recognition for importing PDFs?  I'm looking for a way to do this without having to start over on the many documents I have in PDF format.  Since I know Adobe is capable of optical character recognition (Acrobat Pro), and has great document managing software (InDesign) I'm hoping to find a way to do this within the Adobe Creative suite, without having to pay $300 for 3rd party conversion software.  Can I copy-paste from Acrobat Pro to InDesign (after Acrobat has done the text conversion)?     <Title renamed by MOD>

In all my CS applications except InDesign CS6 (Mac), I can dock the tools window by the side of the main content panes like any other window: drag it to the edge, and at just the right point, it highlights where it will be docked with a blue outline, and docks when you let go.I can't find any way to do this in InDesign CS6 (Version 8.0, Mac), however. Unlike every other window, it never gives the option to dock, no matter where I drag it. The only options in the toolbar itself switch between one row vertical, two rows vertical, and one row horizontal. I've also looked in Preferences > Interface and the only options refer to the "Floating tools bar" and give the same one row vertical, two rows vertical, and one row horizontal options as the tool bar itself.I can't see any option to stop it floating. Hi, Dear Friends! I want to make a paragraph into a "block quote," i.e., inside a frame with a different colored background. That much even a dummy like me can handle. But the shading color of the paragraph stretches the entire text frame width, which I don't want. I want it indented from both right and left. The paragraph indent has no effect on the shading, and it fills up the entire width as above; how can we indent the border with the shade without making a new, separate text frame? The Script Label window allows you to set an arbitrary label value to more or less any page object, a label which will subsequently be available in scripting. According to the DOM, documents and book files (of type BookContent) also have the `label` property, but unlike page objects, documents and book files cannot – as far as I can tell – be ‘selected’ in a way that makes the Script Label field editable, so I cannot figure out a way to set the label on them from the UI – that is, without scripting. Is there a way to do this?

Hello, i'm trying to make a javascript script to find update an index but i'm stucked. I'm using InDesign CS5.5 and the ExtendScript Toolkit 4.1.28 I have an indb file and many indd, I can locate the right file indd and open it with app.open.I tried to look at indexes but they are always 0, I also tried to check textFrames to find the right one but without success. I looked for a way to inspect the document to identify the structure but i can't find anythin better than randomly checking elements with the debugger. I manually update the index selecting the textbox and then with Edit -> Update index Can you help me to aumate it? Thanks

Anytime I try to open indesign, it gets to the loading screen then immediately closes. I have tried restarting my laptop, resetting my entire laptop, uninstalling indesign, removing preferences, using creative cloud cleaner tool, and more. When I open the app after uninstalling or removing preferences it works and opens and I can use it, however the next time I try to use it, it doesn't work again. When I can use it, everything seems to work well, it's only when trying to open it again that it fails. I also have indesign downloaded on my home computer (on the same account) and it works absolutely fine on there.     <Title renamed by MOD>

I've seen many posts about the horrid list of Noto Sans clogging up the font selection list.I really hope an Adobe expert will respond to this post from an Apple forum and explain whether this is legit or not. "Apple has made an API available to developers since El Capitan to hide fonts that are not meant for your region/language. Most apps use them, such as the Affinity suite.For whatever reason (and they won't say why), Adobe has refused to implement it. My guess is they don't want to cut off access to fonts an advertising agency or print shop may need to produce a project. But they could still do something as adding a simple check box to turn these non-language related fonts on or off as the user needs them." If this is true that Apple has made an API available, why is Adobe not using it. I need to highlight text but I already have a character style applied as needed; strong.It appears that ID will only allow one char style.I am trying to avoid a Highlight and Highlight Strong scenerio.I have blocks of text, some words bold, that need a highlight applied. I am using a heavy underline with negative offset for the highlight.Search engines and YouTube offer the underline technique but not mixed attribute solution.

Hi, I am currently using the Ivy Journal font on InDesign and for some reason the text does not display the correct letters that I type onto my keyboard. For example, if i type in the letter "b" on InDesign, it shows the letter "a". Because of this, I'm basically typing gibberish and I can't space. I was wondering if there is a solution to this problem because a lot of other people I know using this font also have this problem.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I'm need to log on to my older versions of Indesign without wifi.Working remotely it should still load. But it's still forcing me to sign in on the CLOUD. Why am I needing to do this? - Can't seem to use the updated cloud version with my historical saved files as ADOBE'S Protectionist Policy with user owned FONTS causes a real PROBELM. The new cloud based version renderes years of historical work, with embedded fonts a real problem now failing to recognise fonts I've purchased and used for decades. Getting fed up with this.

Why is it a whit underline if the color I chose is different? 

- Many of the artworkers in our studio are experiencing InDesign files intermittently opening as Read-Only on our network. After trying several times of opening and closing the files may open correctly.- The files can be 'Saved As' once opened to save any changes, but will open as Read-Only again straight afterwards.- We have tried adding 'InDesign' to System Preferences - Security & Privacy - 'Full Disk Access' and 'Files & Folders' but it hasn't helped.- We have tried it on SMB and AFP with no change to behaviour- It has been happening with previous versions of InDesign.  We are currently using Indesign 2024.- It effects both intel and M1 & M2 chip computers.Anybody got any ideas other than the ones we have tried please?
