I don't know anything about scripting but....Can a script be written to handle hanging brackets in financial tables: where financial numbers are right aligned and any negative number brackets extend out to the right. Optical Margin Adjustment doesn't work. Have handled it with a cell style with a smaller inset but there must be a better way...

Hi all, Just recently I received our new layout for our brochure from a designer. We requested that they used the font that we use (Mr Eaves) and so they did. However when I open the file there seems to be a weird looking version of the Mr Eaves in it. The text looks the same but I can't change it to bold/heavy/regular like normal. No problem if I can just change the font to the correct Mr Eaves where we have a subscription via Adobe Fonts.  The strange thing that I don't understand is that when I change the font to the correct Mr Eaves, alle the text has an orange background as if it is not available. When I export it also states that fonts are missing. When I open a new document in Indesign I can use the font perfectly fine, it is only with the brochure that we received from the designer.  I also tried to replace the font via the tool in InDesign but that has no effect and it keeps saying the font is missing. Is there maybe a setting in the document I'm

Hello, we use InDesign server for automated document processing. When a file is opened (via an ExtendScript script) that uses one or more plugins that are not installed, InDesign server outputs the following log message:Thu Aug 22 12:10:36 2024 ERROR [server] The document "document.indd" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. We strongly advise you not to open the document. Though this is logged as an error, InDesign server does not stop script execution and continues with the rest of the script. This goes unnoticed unless the log is explicitly checked or some data corruption is visible in the file. Is there a way to tell InDesign server to stop execution when this error occurs (like with other errors during script execution)? Or is there a way to explicitly check if there are any missing plugins with a script command? I tried to count the amount of error output (stderr) the process emits during execution to check if there w

I don't know why, but random pages are inserting themselves into my spread. Sometimes at the end of the spread, sometimes not. Recently, I deleted a text box, and three pages appeared. But it's happened for other reasons. 

I'm new to ID - so I'm not 100% sure of the terminology.    I have a text frame with images. I'm attempting to add a caption using another text frame, but I can't and do not understand why or how I can fix it. I create a new text frame outside the layout, but the text disappears when I attempt to put the text frame (caption) beneath the image.    If I try to use the caption feature through ID, it, too, does not appear properly beneath the image.   In other words, the text looks fine until I attempt to place it on another text frame.    I'm attempting to place names beneath the images below.    Obviouisly, I'm doing something wrong and would appreciate any help to resolve this.    I'm     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello, I've just started to create accessible pdf's for a client I do some work for. The pdf seems to have worked well and can be read on a screen reader. One thing I'm not sure of though is how to add page numbers so that they will be read by the screen reader correctly. Would anyone have tips on this?Thanks for your help.

Hi, I have a problem using the "CSV2TABLE" script by Loic Aigon to data merge in a table. I am unable to use an image: "ReferenceError: Object is invalid 102".I have searched a lot but I cannot find where the problem is coming from. I don't know if it's a problem with the script being too old, or if the problem comes from my misuse of it.(I should note that data merging works correctly without the script).Do you have a solution to my problem, please?

I use hyperlinks in a document to access specific pages on external websites. Workflow: Type the text on which the hyperlink will be applied select the text Right-click, Hyperlinks, New Hyperlink Paste URL, Press Enter This works without issue until I have hyperlink that is a bit longer. When I press enter after pasting the URL, InDesign crashes. Every time. So I have been able to isolate longer links as the issue. In these situations, I can often find an alternate URL to use instead. In some situations, there is no alternate URL. Is there a workaround that will enable me to use a longer URL in a hyperlink? Or perhaps a patch, script or plugin?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Moinsen Community, ich hätte da gerne ein kleines Problem. Ich habe einige mehrseitige (600-1000) PDFs die bearbeitet werden müssen. Fast ausschließlich Tabellen, ich habe ein schönes Import-Skript, alles gut. Ich muss mit einer "Maske" (also letzendlich einer weißen Fläche) bestimmte Bereiche abdecken, damit diese Infos auch nicht mehr im neuen Dokument zu sehen sind. Sind immer an der gleichen Stelle, macht auch ein Skript, ist auch nicht das Problem. Mein Problem ist, das diese Infos nach dem Export in ein neues PDF auch nicht mehr vorhanden sein dürfen. D.h. die Information hinter dieser Maske muss aus dem neuen PDF getilgt und nicht wiederherstellbar sein. Weder über AdobeDC, Illustrator oder andere Dinge. Kann ich das über den Export regeln? Kann ich das überhaupt regeln? OCR etc. pp. brauchts im Endprodukt nicht mehr. BestesM

Ich habe seid längerem das Problem das meine Datei jedesmal schreibgeschützt ist wenn ich sie öffne das wird langsam echt anstrengend da ich sie jedesmal unter einem anderen Namen speichern muss gibt es für dieses Problem eine Lösung?

I'm getting extremely frustrated with my paragraph styles lately. It has always worked extremely smoothly for me. But now when I click on the style, it doesn't change the text to the full style, for example the border comes up, but not the font - and it changes in the panel to that same name but with a "+" sign. I use CC Libraries for image management when I use InDesign. I've been experiencing an issue when I need to relink an image in the links panel I go to Links>select image with the missing link>Left Click> Relink CC Libraries and it takes me to the cc libraries window but my files lose organization and I am not able to search the name of the file. I need to change the orientation and paper size of my booklet but indesign won't allow me to. I am unable to change the PPD from device independent to Adobe PDF 9.0 as it only shows device independent as my only option? HELP!

Hi community, I am struggling hard with this issue with the recent updates with all chromium browsers.The default view of web browsers seem to be single page, but my project has spreads, and supposed to be viewed as Two Up facing with cover page. 😞I have tried exporting it as spread, which visually does reflects my intention, but page numbers are reduced down by 1/2 (as it is spread). Page numbers are set through master page - style - current page. Another method I tried is to export as pages, with two-up facing. But the web browser would display pdf as single page by default. I tried to add in javascript into pdf, but that did not address the issue. Are there any settings or scripts that would display two up facing with cover page by default on the web browser? Sincerely

I'm making a PDF accessible for assistive technology and have hit a very basic problem: when I look at the tagging and the reading order in the PDF, none of the doc headings or text is tagged. I've done all of the export tagging in paragraph styles, ticked the necessary boxes when exporting to interactive PDF, and arranged the layers panel / articles panel accordingly. After completing the data merge, all the fields are correct, but the image section displays an error. I've linked the image in Excel, which is a PNG file. How can I fix this? What might I be doing wrong when filling it in Excel?     <Title renamed by MOD>    

Hello there! I know there is not a ARM version of InDesign yet, but I thought it would have been possible to download the application in emulation mode, it doesn't appear to be possible (Creative Cloud doesn't list InDesign in the apps when I open it on my laptop). I have a large text box that takes up a full page (8.5x11in.) and I'd like to break up the body copy in the large text box into smaller text boxes. Is there a simple way to do this without creating a bunch of smaller text boxes with the Type Tool and cutting and pasting sections from the large text box into those smaller text boxes?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi, I have an InDesign file that recently turned south.  I can open InDesign, navigate to the file and attempt the open the file, but the bar will fill only about 3/4s of the way before InDesign crashes suddenly.  InDesign crashes a subsequent time if I open the program too soon there after.  I am able to open InDesign a third time without restarting my computer.  I can attempt to recover the file this time but InDesign crashes a third time suddenly.  I will repeat the process again only alter it in an attempt pursue another troubleshooting avenue.  Any help would be grately appreciated.  The file is approximately 134Mb.  Thank you.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello,   I am using the index. The comma between the pagenumbers is red, instead of black. I cannot find anything in the styling of the index that explains it. I use the same style of index in other books, without this problem. I can I get black comma's?     René   <Title renamed by MOD>
