I am trying to convert an RTF file into a reflowable ePub using InDesign.  I had formerly created a new ePub following Anne-Marie Concepcion's video tutorials and in that new file of mine I set a new Workspace, names it, and populated it with new paragraph and chracter styles and so on.  The workspace works beuatifully in that file.  But when I created a "new document" in Indesign, it has the name of my customized workspace (the one that I customized in the other file) at the very top of the workspace just as I expect to, as if it is working, but when I open the panels for paragraphs and characterstyles, it is as if I have never created a workspace at all.  It only shows blank_paragraphs as an option.  Can someone help, ...please? Thanks,  Rick Reiman

How do I turn off the horizontal lines that appear when an InDesign page is zoomed in above 100%? They do not go away when I hide/show guides, only when I zoom out to 100% or smaller. They make the page look like ruled loose leaf paper...super annoying. InDesign CC, Windows 10 .

Hi,I am trying to create a pdf in Indesign with pages that flip and turn.I have opened up a new document, Intent for Web, and set up multiple spreads.I have then right click on the pages, 'page attributes' and then 'page transactions'.This gives me all options like fade, uncover, dissolve etc but it DOESN'T give me a Turning page option.Please help...... I am really stuck!Am I doing it correct or is there a new way?Thank you

Morning! I am unable to continue working on my project. I recieve this message when opening InDesign (Beta).Your InDesign (Beta) build has expired.I have reinstalled the app and I still received the same message then is closes itself down and won't let me continue.What does this mean and how do I resolve this? I can see there are a few past post on this issue. Why does this keep happening? Am I better off using the normal InDesign. We chose Beta so the team can collaborate more easily.

I'm designing a short book of poems (actually one long poem with 75 stanzas.) I've done an ePub before for a novel but I need to keep each stanza to its own page resembling the paperback version. I don't think Amazon allows for static ePubs so it has to be exported as reflowable. Is there a way to maintain the stanza breaks? And also the wide margins? Thanks!Jane

I tried opening my indesign indb file in version 19.1 and all of the links are linking to page 1 and not their correct page. This goes for the hyperlinked tabs on each page as well as the table of contents (TOC was created with the TOC menu in indesign). I saved all of the book files to idml, reopened them in verison 18.0 and put them into a book file and the links work.What is the issue with the newer indesign version not holding the links when you crate a pdf?

HiI am trying to create epub file from InDesign v 19 (new one)and my footnote numbers are links with blue color (not as designed)butwhen I generate epub file from InDesign version 18, everything looks almost okinstead of page numbers!(living page name works, and it is on the same master page with page number) there are 2 language versions with the same problemany idea how to fix that?I am so close to the final.: )

When there is a table in the article, how to keep the tow columns bottom alignment?How to keep the left and right line parallel?The left and right line, which I had drawed references line.They are text lines, not  table rows.Manually adjust each table height?This should not be the best answer. 

Hello everyone, I'm copying texts from Microsoft OneNote into Indesign. On Mac, the text pasted is automatically one single paragraph, even when there are multiple ones in the OneNote document.I've tried on on a Windows version of Indesign and the paragraphs are correctly pasted as separate ones.Is this a specifity of my setup or is there a workaround? Thanks for your help!

Hi. Ive saved specific colors for my InDesign document. So whenever I mark some text etc I can see also that specific color marked in the color sample window. But not anymore. Whenever I mark some text color sample window says "no color". And also when I mark some text and then choose the specified color in the color sample window, the font gets super bold and not what it is supposed to be. What happened?

When the user opens the package after it has been created, the InDesign application file's file some links are missing.There are no links problems before package creation [every links are mapped to corresponding figure].   

I imported a PDF File into InDesign in order to turn it into a Form Fillable document. After I got all of the fields in place (Over 300 Text fields, 100 Radio Buttons, etc.) I tried to export it to an interactive PDF. When I do the background image on the first page disappears. The second page is just fine, but the first is completely gone.  Is there any way to fix this without completely redoing it?

I appologize if this has already received plenty of coverage but I'm trying to do something which would seem trivial but is not working for me? You see, I'm updating my classroom notes in a multi-page InDesignm document. On page 12, I have a small section dedicated to "Bézier Curves". On page 35, I would like to insert a "Reference" to this "Bézier Curves" section such that the ideal text would read as the following:> See Page 12But I am trying to avoid "hard-coding" the number 12 in the text because, some day, I will likely add or delete pages BEFORE page 35 and then, the reference to the Bézier section will be meaningless. You see what I'm trying to do? The best I was able to do what to "Define" a new Text variable based on "Chapter Number" (suggested by ChatGPT) by navigating to Page 12, accessing the Numbering & section options in the Page menu, check the "Start chapter numbering" option and type "12" as shown in the following screen capture:Then, in the text on page 35

Hi,For years I've not been able to use the CMD + C and CMD + V shortcut keys to copy and paste anything in InDesign. I'm able to copy and paste via the menu but nothing else.The shortcut keys work fine on any other program on my Mac it's just InDesign which isn't working. When I paste using the shortcut keys the previous copied content is pasted indicating that the clipboard hasn't saved my most recent copy.It's not a massive issue but it does slow the fluidity of my workflow slightly. It's a strange issue that I can't seem to find a solution for online. Anyone have any idea?

Hello, Myself and the other designer on my team have been having an issue lately with a handful of InDesign files exporting Interactive PDFs with blurred images. This never seemed to happen until recent. We tried EVERYTHING under the sun to try and find a solution to the issue. Different file formats, different resolutions, different settings, etc. but are still running into this annoying issue. The main concern at hand currently is that the logo of the file keeps exporting with weird pixelation/graininess. It used to be on the images of the products as well, but I did find that a resolution of 72 dpi somehow fixed that issue. It did not work for the logo though. I attached the file with the issue and also a screenshot of the link information of the logo. If anyone has answers to this, please let us know! 

Hi, So I wanted to edit some master pages in a new document. Usually, when you open the pages (Seiten) tab, it also opens a small window displaying all master pages. In this document however, it doesn't do that. Even if I close the tab and open it again, I can't find a display of my master pages (like in the small screenshot). It looks like the screenshot I've attached (large screenshot). Can yomebody help me with this problem?  

I've inherited an InDesign document with Margins and Columns set up. I prefer to work with Guides set up on a series of master pages, not Margins and Coumns. So I want to 'deactivate' Margins and Columns in this document. But I can't find a way to do this. Is there a way?? More thoughts on this ~ As I understand it, once Margins and Columns has been 'activated' in an InDesign doc, this overrides values for margins entered in Document Setup, Document Properties and Adjust Layout. I can still edit values for margins in all of these other places, but these changes have no effect on the document or individual pages. If Margins and Columns needs to work this way - i.e. to override all the other ways to edit margins - I think the other methods for editing margins should be 'locked' and greyed out when Margins and Columns is activated, with a message on mouse click or hover saying something like 'Margins and Columns is activated and is now the only way to edit margins in this docume

I'm looking for a method of converting custom vector shape (for example: company logo) that i made in AI to InDesign scritp. Whole idea behind this question is to write  a script that would draw the logo on the current document so it would be a vector shape and not pasted graphic or linked image.I've found something called drawscri.pt https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/drawscript-turn-illustrator-shapes-into-code/m-p/4944211but it's no longer available.... And it looks like something i'm looking forDo you know any alternative for this expansion? Or maybe there is no simple way of converting vector to JS script?

Can someone please tell me what is wrong with the TOP TextFrame in the attached IDML file?   In what way it is "locked" - because when I'm trying to execute Fit Frame To Content - nothing happens?!?!   Top TF is a result of copy&paste from Word DOCX document - was part of a group in WORD and after importing to InDesign was extremely huge but easily resizable - then copied into a INDD document - then IDMLed.   After creating a new TF - by threading - and then deleting original TF - the new TF resizes perfectly fine.   Bottom TF has been created in InDesign and is perfectly fine.   I don't see anything strange in the IDML?     I've almost posted the first part - but kept digging and I think I've discovered a bug... so I've left it for context instead of posting a reply.   The same DOCX file - if IMPORTED, Ctrl+D - works fine - the same TFs WILL get resized when Fit Frame To Contents is executed on them...   Saving in WORD as RTF - doesn't

Is there any script that can quickly generate three or four text frameworks in the type area?It is hoped that it is just full of the version of the heart, the spacing and height can be customized, and the width is determined by the quantity.There are horizontal or vertical arrangements. 

I have seven files that will become a single printed book. I've tried to save them AS a book in InDesign. My first attempt was going beautifully. To establish the styles, I began with the first interior section, then placed the others. I added the front matter, and tried to drag it in front of the first text section. The attached error message then appeared. Now the error occurs whenever I try to place the first section and the program stops responding. Why would this happen? There are no errors in the file. It is very long; over two hundred pages. Should I split it up? Is there another way to combine files? I've considered adding two hundred blank pages and copying and pasting in place but that is ridiculous. Presumably I could make separate PDFs and combine them into one, but that would also be extremely tedious. Why would this happen? How do I prevent it from happening? The strokes around the many images are .25. It's possible some are duplicated but why would that be a problem

Bonsoir à toutes et à tous, je rencontre un gros problème avec le logiciel Indesign : depuis que j’ai effectué la dernière mise à jour, je ne peux plus l’ouvrir. On m’indique que je n’ai plus accès aux préférences.Je suis sur un Macbookpro M1, système Sonoma 14,5. J’ai supprimé le dossier Indesign dans les préférences et celui du dossier caches, j’ai ensuite essayé de relancer Indesign mais j’ai la même erreur.J’ai désinstallé Indesign depuis Creative Cloud en supprimant au passage les préférences, puis j’ai voulu réinstaller l’ancienne version qui fonctionnait correctement. Mais maintenant à l’ouverture j’ai la même erreur.Je suis bloqué, j’ai besoin du logiciel car j’ai un travail en cours que je dois finaliser, je ne vois plus quelle solution utiliser pour résoudre ce problème ?A noter que j’ai également effectué la dernière mise à jour de photoshop Beta et il se lance correctement, ainsi que les autres logiciels Lightroom Classic, Illustrator et Acrobat. I've read several other discussions about this here n the support community, but none actually seem to address the problem. I have a book with several documents. When I open the book the book panel opens along with the InDesign window. I dock the Book Panel (yes, I do understand what docking is, promise!) Then I open a file to begin work, and the Book Panel disappears from the doc, and it IS NOT listed at the bottom of the Window menu. Only the document I opened is listed there, not the book. It IS NOT behind anything. I've closed and/or minimized every other window - it's not just hiding behind somehting else.I can't seem to find a way to re-open the Book Panel. I really need it for synching docs, numbering, etc.I think a bug was submitted for this, but I can't find that it was fixed (and if it was... it's baaacck!)Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance - this is really cramping my style!
