Hi,In my last discussion, I mentioned that gaps appeared in the text after I pressed the "Update type" button. I also mentioned that, on the right of the gap, part of the word would be underlined with dots. To remove the gaps, you right click the dotted part of the word and select "Ignore".Last friday, I created a new Topic, saved it and closed RoboHelp. This morning, I opened the project and that Topic. As you can see in the image above, ALL THE GAPS ARE BACK... I’ve just corrected the Topic, by doing the action of selecting "Igonre". I noticed that the Save changes asterisk (*) was not present on the Topics tab. I guess that ignoring the gaps is not considered a change.I saved the Topic, close it and RoboHelp to see what would happen…When I reopenned the Topic, the exact same gaps, as the image above, reappeared. Question 1 : Does this mean that I will have to completely REWRITE THIS TOPIC… AGAIN???Question 2 : Does this mean that I will have those Gaps in all my new Topics?Pierre
Hi,For some reason that I cannot grasp, if I click in a line, I will see the Font size (Type will show "p"). If I click another line, even the font size disappears (type will show "Span").Why “Span” for a paragraph and “P” for another paragraph that’s the same as the first? With my cursor still in a "Span" type line, I clicked the Update Style button, thinking that it would change it to "P", or stay the same, or it would open an option window, or something to help me.After I clicked the button, the entire Topic blinked once, the Type remained to "Span", but the entire Topic changed. Now, I have gaps between two words. There are also gaps inside words (ex.: appl ication). The size of the gaps are about two extra spaces.I tried the Undo button. It undid nothing. If I place my cursor on the gap’s right side and press Backspace, the gap will remain, but the letter on its left will be erased.Tried to erase a word that had that gap. The word was deleted, but not the gap.Question 1: WHY do you
Hi,It seems that inside a Drop-down text “box”, top and bottom margins do not work. I position my cursor at the beginning of the paragraph, insert the value (ex.: 6 pt for bottom or top, depending) and the paragraph stays the same. Left margin is possible (ex.: 14 pt).Pierre
Greetings!I need the forum's assistance with something silly which may be just a misconception on my side. Each time I open Robohelp 2019, it always defaults to Release. There's no option or prompt anywhere to switch to Classic. Any suggestions on how I can go straight to Classic each time I open RH?The only way I've been able to pull up Classic is by finding an .xpj file (one that was never converted to Release), and then double clicking on it. My goal is however to find a way to open Classic first, and then to be able to select from the list of recent projects. This way we don't have to ask our editors to go and look for the .xpj files each time. Thank you in advance for your help
RH 2019 Release 6 includes quite a few nice enhancements, one of which is the ability to enable/disable the "Highlight Search Results" checkbox on the Indigo skin/layout. Sadly, this is yet to be added to the rest of the skins/layouts. Here are the exact steps on how to enable this checkbox for Azure_Blue:Note: In the event that you've found a better way or have noticed any issues with this method, please share them. Open RH 2019 Classic Open your project and make sure that you have added the Azure_Blue layout to itSave All and Exit RHGo to the path where your RH project is, and then to !ScreenLayout! -> Azure_BlueCreate a backup of the Topic.slp fileOpen the Topic.slp file with NotepadLocate and delete the 2 rows of code highlighted in yellowSave the fileNow Open RH 2019 Classic and try generating your output again. The "Highlight Search Results" checkbox should be visible, and it should function exactly like it does with Indigo (and also the way it did with WebHelp outputs g
I have glossary items. I have specified the glossary in the preset. The chm gets generated and there isn't a glossary tab at all. What have I missed?Jim
Hi,Want to report a glitch. When I fomat text, if I need to change the Font color and I use the "Pick color from screen" tool (see Image 1 - Pick color), sometimes, the color selector (see Image 2 - Color selector) will remain in the middle of the screen, it will be visible over everything. It will be transparent, but a reboot will be necessary to remove it.Image 2 does not show the actual problem, it shows the Color selector. Thanks,PierreImage 1 - Pick color from screen toolImage 2 - Color selector (the round thing)
RoboHelp 2019 - Hi Y'all,There are two types of text environment I’m using: the general Body and the Drop-down text Body. Why does the text or the paragraphs format differently?See image “23 avr.19 – List formatting in Author mode” .See image “23 avr.19 – List formatting in View mode”.Author and Preview mode are the same, the published View mode is different. Why and how can I fix this?Pierre
We use robohelp for online help.A security scan of the product is reporting "HTML5: Overly Permissive Message Posting Policy" against Funtion:Window:postMessage in robohelp. They do not like that a "*" is being used when sending messages via postMessage:Is this a real problem? Thanks===HTML5: Overly Permissive Message Posting Policy ( 11347 ) SummaryA broadcast of information to windows on the client-side using postMessage was observed. The postMessage function is one of the features of HTML5 that allows a window to send messages to another open window. The typical syntax of postMessage is window.postMessage(message, targetOrigin, [transfer]).The message parameter contains the information to be shared and targetOrigin indicates the origin of the destination window. It is recommended to explicitly specify the targetOrigin intended for a particular message. While the function permits the use of a wildcard character (*) for the targetOrigin, allowing the message to be shared to any window,
I am working with RoboHelp 2017. For my project, the titles in the TOC pane are pretty long. I need to know if text wrapping in the TOC pane is a possibility. Can I apply text wrapping to the content in the TOC pane. Then it would also be consistent with the Search pane, which allows text wrapping.Kindly see to it.
I'm working with RoboHelp 2017 to create a responsive HTML5 output for a customized Indigo template. When I view the output in Firefox, IE, and Chrome, the hamburger menu icon disappears when the browser is maximized. Each browser has a different size threshold for the icon disappearing. How can I fix this and make the icon always visible?
Hello! We currently have 4 writers who run RH 2017 on their dedicated PCs. Our version control solution is provided by RoboSource Control 3.1, which connects to MS SQL Server 2005 + databases. Our writers aren't technical people. So what we like about our current solution is that they just start editing a topic and it auto-checks itself out (and any related files required) and locks it until they check it in - and we don't have to worry or deal with merging different versions of project files.I'm now evaluating RH 2019 (new), and curious whether any of the currently supported source control solutions (GIT, SharePoint online, else?) support a process (auto-check out, lock file(s), check in, and no merge required) our writers are used to. I'm not familiar with those solutions/products (our company does have SharePoint online), but I know RSC 3.1 isn't supported. Finally, I'm attending STC's Summit next week so if one of the forum mods reads this, it'd be nice if I could see some of these
Hello,we are using RH 2019 (2019.0.6) with responsive html (charcoal gray) and our project includes a page with a lot of links to manuals (pdf). When generating it, the links on the page itself are correct like assets/docs/document1.pdfBut when being searched the results don't show and refer to the recursive path. The link allways refers to the original export path like x:/s3000/test/assets/docs/document1.pdf (network drive) or //adgsc1/websites/s3000/test/assets/docs/document1.pdf (network path). Also when coppying the files to our webserver manually, or publishing them with RH, the path in the search results stays the same.
Using RH2019 and printed documentation output. When a topic goes on to a new page, the text is cut in half horizontally, as shown in the image here. I made it so that there are no page breaks within <p> tags (and other tags), and added top margins to those tags, to no avail. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can avoid this? Thank you!
Hi,I am using Robohelp 2015 to create help files in the WebHelp format. Last week, my client reported that the submitted help files are failing the security vulnerability test. I have attached a sample of the issue reported. I can send the complete report if so required. They are moving to a different server which has high security system in place. The production promote date is fast approaching and I am unable to find a fix for the same. I tried the fixes suggested in the following sites:Cross-site scripting vulnerabilityHow to fix security vulnerabilities in WebHelp output | RoboHelp (2015 release)But, the client is reporting the same issue. Could you please let me know what I should do as soon as possible so that I can fix it before the production promote. Thanks,Sreekala
I've been developing a project in the newest release of Robohelp (2019) and have come across an issue when checking over the site in Edge. When I use the search function it seems to be occasionally inserting the 'Â' character, bolding the wrong words or only half the word and also breaking words with spaces. The search seems to display fine in IE11 and Chrome, anyone have any ideas why this is happening with Edge and how to fix it?(search term used for the image below: "Evidence")
I'm using RoboHelp 2017, our documentation is added to our software application that uses a embedded browser, Chromium. When we publish the docs it doesn't get updated because the cache doesn't get cleared. So some people see the new content/splash page and some see the previous pages. We did find a way to clear it by going into the %AppDat% folder and deleting the BrowserCache but our documentation goes out to customers and we can't expect them to go and manually delete this folder. Is there anyway to embed code to clear Chromium cache in the published docs?
Hello,I am using RH2017/Responsive HTML5/Indigo screen layout. I am using Conditional Text to generate 2 separate Help systems (for 2 different websites w/ many similar features). I'd like to give each Help system its own color styling, so I thought I could do this by creating 2 different Indigo screen layouts w/ diff colors defined. However - when I created the 2nd Responsive Screen Layout for Indigo, I noticed the following things:"Home (Custom icons)" is MISSING from the list of Layout Properties. This is ESSENTIAL for me to use.The Print (topic) icon is appears in the PREVIEW, but DOES NOT appear in my original Indigo layout.I have already added to a discussion re: Adding a Print Button into this Screen Layout. Responsive HTML5 - Custom Buttons or LinksCan someone help me out?Thank you!!--Tabby W.
I just started using RoboHelp. We have a lot of existing Word documents that we thought we could import. When the Word Import Settings pop up opens the drop down list for you to pick the Word style for creating a new topic is empty.
We would like to use our on premise SharePoint as a version control source repository for the project and publish the responsive HTML5 to an externally facing SharePoint site. Does Robohelp 2019 support on premise SharePoint for version control or publishing? If so How do we do this?
I am using RoboHelp 2019 Classic with SharePoint for source control. Everything was working fine on Friday, 4/12/2019, and has been since we upgraded to 2019 about five months ago. This morning, when I first attempt to log into RoboHelp and click the Test Connection button, I now get the following message:My Internet is working. If I navigate to the specified folder, I get the listing of RoboHelp project files. If I return to RoboHelp with that folder open and click the Test Connection button, I now get the message that the test connection succeeded. If I try to proceed, however, even though I got the message that the test connection succeeded, I now get this message:… or this message: I have tried deleting the .cpd file for the project I was trying to access. No change.I tried opening a different RoboHelp project from SharePoint. Same result as above.Thoughts? Thanks!
I have RoboHelp 2017, version 13.0.2.334.Someone was reviewing my project online on his new iPad Pro with keyboard. He found that when using the Search feature, it would allow him to use the keyboard to type the Search criteria; however, he could not invoke the search with the Enter key (or any other key). Searching works correctly when using the built-in electronic keyboard. I reached out to Willam van Weelden separately about this issue, and thought I would add this to the community forum in case anyone has experienced this issue. Is there any way to resolve this issue so that users may search for topics using an iPad Pro keyboard? Appreciate your feedback.
I'm a lone tech writer, and I work with a small team of developers. I don't have much experience in creating the CHM files & integrating it into the software. I've inherited this project as well.We produce a suite of software programs, most of which are Android tablet based. The Android app help files are HTML5, and those work fine on the various tablets. There's no issue with the HTML5 help. The administrator of our suite uses a Windows-based software. The admin program has its own .CHM file, and the context-sensitivity works perfectly. That much I can figure out on my own. I would like to add the content of the Android tablet help files as separate CHM files within the Windows program. This way, the admin can read the same help as the users in the field without having to open multiple programs or have multiple devices. I thought it would be as easy as batch generating the Android app help as both HTML5 and CHM.When my developer linked the second CHM file to the Windows app, the re
Can't seem to center a table. Alignment is centered:I could not find any definitions for "Position," "Display," or "Column Span" in the User Guide, so I have no idea what the settings should be if any. I have "Position" as "inherit" since it is within a paragraph that has the centered alignment, which I thought it would inherit. Help!
