I just recently installed the RH2017 upgrade from RH2015. The new Responsive HTML5 Indigo "search" works fine on a single project. However, when I am testing my merged Master/Parent project, the search results do not return anything from the linked/child projects connected to it. This sort of defeats the purpose of using it for a help system. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a setting I'm missing?I've been over the layout settings several times and while I can change all sorts of cosmetic things, I do not see anything about enabling the search for child project files.I admit I have been using this same file structure for many years. If there is a better suggestion for merging 100+ projects, I'm open to ideas! Ultimately, I just want to let my end-users search for their information more effectively. Thanks!
Environment: TCS 2017 on Windows 7.Hello,I am trying to import some FM files into RoboHelp and I get the "This operation cannot be completed without FrameMaker" error. I searched the forums and, for the other people, the problem was a lack of TCS... but I do have TCS 2017 installed. I tried opening FrameMaker before RoboHelp and the same error appears. My guess is that it's caused by the fact that I followed the incorrect steps when upgrading from TCS 2015 (I installed TCS 2017 on top on 2015 and then uninstalled TCS 2015). This workflow caused other errors as well, but I thought most of them were solved by another install of TCS 2017... but it seems not.Anyway, I remember that, 4 or so years ago, a coworker had a problem with FM integration in RH and someone on the forums had provided a modified version of a certain file which solved the issue. Does anyone know the name of this file? The integration is working fine on another's coworker's PC and I am hoping I can copy her file and avoi
I am trying to use conditional tags to get filters to work in the output. It seems this only works with books or topics added directly into the merged project, not the merged project item in the toc, even though RH allows me to apply a conditional tag to the item.In the generated output, the only filter that works is the one attached to the How To Use book. None of the other filters work. My goal is to be able to create filters that would let users select "sets" of books for their needs. Should this work, or am I pursuing this the wrong way?
I am trying to use custom toc images (the visual aspect already addressed in this community and answered) in a merged project. I am using the same customized copy of indigo in Framemaker (where I managing the content) and in RH where I am merging the content. The custom toc images work well except for the following:When I click on a book at the top most level of the toc (which visually looks correct with the custom toc images), the next page reverts to showing the standard book icon.top most levelNext level after clicking on Display Role AccessNote, the Display Role image displayed here is the non-hover view of the "back" arrow. When you hover over this, you seeI did nothing for this to work, and I think it is pretty cool. The problem is that the two standard book images should be custom images I have selected for those topics in the Framemaker content published using the same version of the customized Indigo layout.Any ideas how to fix, or where I should start to look
I'm passing on what worked for me.The background: - RoboHelp 2015, 12.0.4.460 (up to date at time of writing)- Small number of topics (less than 15)- Pushing all project files to our own server for web app deployment as a "help" button\- Project created using Web Application Help template (New Project > Web Application Help)The problem:- WebHelp output appears fine using the Preview function; table of contents is visible and works properly- WebHelp output is missing a table of contents when deployed in the app. The pane is blank.Initial hypothesis: Gremlins in server room! Revised hypothesis: Settings issueThe solution:- Created a new TOC with the exact same contents as the original TOC- Explicitly specified the duplicate TOC as the TOC file to use for WebHelp: 1. Open Outputs pod 2. Right click WebHelp (Primary Output) 3. Select Properties 4. Select Content Categories 5. Select Content <Def
I have several existing RoboHelp HTML projects that I keep updated. Starting this week I have started receiving an error: 'HHComponentActivator' is undefined when I attempt to Preview Topic. The topic previews fine when I choose Yes to continue running scripts on this page, but am puzzled why all of a sudden I have started receiving this error. Could a Window update cause this to occur? That is the only thing I can think of that has changed in the past week since I started receiving error. If Preview Topic and generating .chm files works fine, should I be concerned about this error?
I have a large webhelp project that is currently in RoboHelp 2015.We would like to allow, say, four people, to edit, delete and add topics to this RoboHelp project. Please explain the best method(s) and software to accomplish this. Would we need some version control software? If so, what software?Thank you.Jan
I'm starting a new discussion because I've now got the page to the point where the only thing not working is Robohelp is not recognizing the media queries I placed within the code.I figure it's a Robohelp issue because from within notepad it works when I open the page in the browser and resize the browser. Also, when I use the inspector tool and test it with different device options. In fact, I'm attaching two screenshots of what that looks like. One for the iPadMini and the other for the iPhone5. The iPhone5 image is the one without any icons. The only time the media queries don't work is when it's gone through Robohelp.I do have the proper metatag in the head:<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,height=device-height,initial-scale=1" />Any ideas? I'm running out of time. The project is due no later than Friday and I know my boss doesn't want to wait until last minute. I appreciate your help!
When you increase the width of the browser window for the Responsive HTML5 output, the width of the header increases, and the "Home" icon at the top left increases in size. I have been asked to remove this feature, so that the header remains at the same width, regardless of the width of the browser. I tried removing the line "background-size:auto 80%;" from the "div.header div.logo" section of the layout.css file, but this did not address the issue. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks,Mark
Hello! I get an ACCESS DENIED when trying to download a RoboHelp trial. going with direct links for the two files leads me to blank black screens with you logo. Any hint? Thanks in advance, Michał
Hi Everyone,I have a requirement to migrate all RoboHelp content to SharePoint. Is there any direct way or tool to migrate all RoboHelp content to SharePoint? Or do we need to access any API?
Hello,Can RoboHelp 9 be installed on a Windows 10 machine?Currently, the software is installed on an XP machine and we are looking forward to move it to a Windows 10 machine.
A bit 'off the wall' this! .... but can anyone suggest a suitable way where I can scan a QRCode from within a project (Multiscreen HTML5 output) using a mobile phone and use the returned information from the QR code to directly open a topic in the project? I want to use a QR code as a type of password to a new section of the project.
HI there,My bullet list style only shows as applied in the 'List Styles' view. When I select 'All Styles' and click on the bullet content the style shows as 'none'. Not sure why? Thanks
My employer is asking me to give the end user the ability to print one page of the help. For example, display a topic the way they want. Click a button in the task bar that prints to their attached printer. I'm linking to field definition pages and those need to print as well.Is there a way to do this? Also, they want a way for the customers to be able to print the entire published help (I know, I know). I'm assuming I will need to create a pdf document of the entire help system. Can I include that pdf in the Master Project? Or can I provide a printed version of each child project and provide the pdf in each child project and print from there in the published and generated help? Thanks for your help,MDawn
My problem started because I have to delete several topics in my help file. I started small by deleting two bullet entries with bookmarks. Then I got broken links to the index and I'm trying to find where they are. RH's instructions for printing index do not seem to apply to version 11. When I click the Index pod, nothing happens. When I click the Create/View Index file and select the default index, nothing happens. It would be quite helpful to have a printed index that I can search, so I would appreciate your suggestions.Regards,Dimi
In RH2017 (13.0.0.257), Responsive HTML5 layout, is it possible to add an image to the header? I have the logo and the project title on the left and want to add the company logo to the right, and link the logo to the home page of our website. (I added the Globalscape logo to the image below as an example of what I want to do.) I've played around with layout.css and Topic.slp, to no avail. Thanks,Karla Marsh
Hi,i have trouble with the table title output in Microsoft HTML Help.To test I have created a new project with one FrameMaker file for this. In the project settings I have ignored the automatic numbering for the paragraph "Table Title".In the editing view of Robohelp everything looks ok:But in the generated CHM file the table titles are moved to the left:How can I fix the problem?
This has never happened before, but all of a sudden, links are opening a new window. I haven't made any changes except to content in quite a while. What could cause that? We are getting ready to release and this happens! I am using RoboHelp 7, by the way.... and publishing to chums. And our TOC is merged. We have 40 projects. We will change that soon, but it's what we have for this release....Thanks!
Hello I've Installed Robohelp 2017 and server 10. When I try to publish on the server it keeps failing. The server is running and I was able to log in. I use this URL (http://localhost:8080/robohelp/server ) for the server name since both Robohelp & sever are on same PC.Please advice thank you!
For branding purposes, I am trying to add an image to the header in the Responsive HTML5 output in RoboHelp 2017, but have had no luck so far following the threads on the forum. I managed to update the "Home" image at the left of the header, but unfortunately I could not add a large enough image. I understand that I probably need to edit layout.css, but would really appreciate some advice on doing this. I am outputting to Responsive HTML5, using the Charcoal_Grey layout. Thanks,Mark
I would like to use custom toc images in the Indigo layout, and have had some success in doing so. But I would like the TOC to show the custom book image only, and not include the book/topic text below the image. I want the image to take up the entire space. I have worked witht the custom css file for the custom toc to get the image to be larger and not centered in the book/topic block, but have not figured out a way to eliminate the text from the screen.Or perhaps I should go about it the other way, eliminate the image so the text takes up the entire space. My primary motivation is that the book/topic text automatically displayed is limited to very few characters. I want a way to have a much longer title appear. Thanks for any help.John
Some of the titles in my project list the correct vendor spelling of a tool. If a user does not know the correct spelling, he cannot successfully search for the tool in the online output. Is there a way to add terms that would make these topics searchable?
In RoboHelp 2017, is is possible to specify an image in the Title Bar, rather than text? I am using responsive HTML5 and would like to show a stylised product logo containing an image here. Perhaps there is another way I could display the image in the header, and turn off the Title Bar. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have added some tags in HTML view in RoboHelp 2017 so that the content enclosed by the tags can be identified by the application associated with the Help project. RoboHelp has not removed the tags in the Responsive HTML5 output, which is great. However, in the Design view, they are highlighted in red with an "Unknown Tag" popup. My questions: can I get RoboHelp to accept these tags, without highlighting them, as it is concerning to see the tags in the Design view? Secondly: if RoboHelp will not accept the tags, would it be OK to leave them in, or am I risking creating problems by leaving them in. Ultimately, I need to add them to hundreds of topics. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
