RoboHelp 2015Visual Studio Source Control 2010This question probably crosses this forum and the Source Control forum. The Visual Studio Source Control check-in date for the HHC is October 2015 even though we have edited the TOC (in RoboHelp) and checked it back in many times since then. When we compare the server and the local workspace TOCs, they are identical.I spoke with our Team Foundation Server / Source Control administrator. He asked me to look at the contents of the TOC (HHC).When I open the HHC file with Notepad, I only get the info shown in the following screen. There is nothing in the HHC about the books or the topics in the books. (I thought we used to be able to open the HHC in a text editor and verify the book/topic structure.)Should I be concerned that the check-in date does not reflect the most recent check-ins?Thanks.Carol
I have almost given up trying to solve this on my own and cant seem to find any existing documentation to help me address this. (There probably is something, somewhere, but I cant find it. And searching these forums wasnt working well either.) We are using RoboHelp 10.In summary, here is the issue: When I publish to the WebHelp format, there are elements of the skin that are not showing up. I have fiddled with the WebHelp Settings quite a bit, but nothing seems to fix the problem I am seeing. There are multiple problems here, and I am torn over whether I should post these individually, or in one post. Im going to go with one post, so that if someone is searching later, they can see everything in one place as we (hopefully) get this resolved. (We are using a skin called "BlueGrey", but I have these same problems if we use the default layout too, so it's not a skin issue. I think its an output settings issue, but I will be danged if I can figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advanc
Hi,I am running RH 10, and have created a merged project - based on Peter Grainge's instructions. All was working fine for years now really with no issues, until we needed to do a global name change in the help system (product name change). Now when the merged project is generated, the search displays image filenames that are referenced in the html code only .I have run some tests and have determined that when I runa search in the individual child projects, the WebHelp system does not display the reference to the image filename. When I run the master project, however, the search engine seems to pick up the image filename referenced in the code of the child projects. The WebHelp generation settings are the same for all projects - master and children.I have no idea why this is currently happening. Any thoughts on where to look would be appreciated. Thanks,Tannis
Hello all,I'm using RoboHelp HTML 10.0.1.x and have the following Problem:when I try to generate a PDF output from one opened topic (via main menu Datei | Entwurf Drucken or via the content pod context menu PDF für Review erstellen), then all the images of the topic are to large. They don't fit to the page size. If I generate a printed documentation for the whole document everyting is working fine. All images are resized and fit to the paper size DinA4.best regards,jano2002
I am required to generate a project - tried to PDF, .docx, .doc - every time receive the attached error. I have been able to generate another project without any error.I assume there is something 'broken' in the project, have tried 'broken links' and a number of other options. How else can I see what is causing the project to crash?Need to provide this to our management ASAP.Thank you!
Every once in a while, our RH11 applications won't generate a CHM file. It happens to me and a co-worker about once a week and usually one of the following occurs:RH generates a CHM but the file doesn't have the proper weight. A normal CHM is about 10 MB but the problematic ones are usually no more than 5 KB.RH displays an error message that the file is open in another application and to close the app and try to generate again. Of course, the file is not open anywhere.RH completes the generation process but no CHM is generated. After "generating" the CHM, RH display the completion message asking if we want to view the file, but clicking Yes does nothing. We can usually solve the problem by shutting down RH, rebooting the workstation, or both. But now I've rebooted twice and even completely shutdown my pc, but still cannot generate a CHM. I've even tried changing the destination folder for the CHM, which sometimes works, to no avail. I am able to generate WebHelp.Any ideas? Thanks.
For example, the word note returns no results when entered by itself. When I put it in quotes, I get 33 results. Note is not included in the stop word list. I have not gotten an exhaustive list of words from my customer, but I'd think a word that's not included on the stop list would appear without having to use quotes. There are a few words the customer didn't realize simply aren't in the webhelp. And why does it work with quotes? Words that are on the stop word list will return results if I put them in quotes.A little education would be appreciated here. Let me know if I need to share any other specifics about the webhelp build. Thanks!
I am using Popups with "Display in auto-sizing popup" chosen as the Hyperlink Options. The popup displays in the upper left hand corner of the help page, but I need it to display right beside the referenced image map. Can I do this?
I've seem similar posts, and tried a few things from them, but none covered my particular scenario. I'm hoping one of you will have some ideas. With RoboHelp 9:Started with a version which had previously been generated and presenting properly in both IE and Firefox (saved in SVN)Removed the word "Add" in about 5 topics.Regenerated.Now the TOC isn't showing on either IE or Firefox. To troubleshoot:Took a copy of the project file that was currently working well in production.Opened it in RoboHelp9 and made no changes at all.Regenerated and now the TOC is also missing in IE and Firefox.Since this problem was occurring and we had struggled with many unrelated problems in the past, support services thought perhaps the best thing to do was uninstall/reinstall RoboHelp 9. They then discovered they no longer had a copy of RoboHelp 9 and upgraded me to RoboHelp 11.With RoboHelp 11:Converted the project file and repeated steps 1 - 3 above with the clean copy saved in SVN.Now, the TOC
I would like to add a company logo in the upper left corner of the toolbar in the new skin - to the left of the standard buttons (Contents, Index, Search, etc.) I can add it as new button, but don't know how to change the order in which the buttons appear in the toolbar. Thank you in advance for any ideas or suggestions.
Hello. I have two user guides that are very large. Lately when I generate HTML Help, or any other type of output (FlashHelp, WebHelp, etc) when the message appears " Click View Result to view:(project name), I select View Result. Nothing ever displays. However, if I generate output again I receive a message that it is open in another application. When the guide generates and Output View displays. I notice that near the bottom, there is a Warning message: The size of stop file has to be limited in 512 bytes. Then there is a Fatal Error: Unexpected error from Microsoft HTML compiler.I tried to insert the image in this post but I receive a notice that it is forbidden. Are the size of my guides too large or is this another issue?Thank you,Michele
Hello all,I'm using RoboHelp 8 / RH8 to create WebHelp. How / where do I set the width of the Table of Contents pane for the webhelp output? I can't find this in the forum or the Help Guide...These days, with high resolution monitors, I need to increase the font size in the ToC. But then it runs out of space in the ToC width. Hence the need for a wider ToC.Help anyone?
Robohelp 9 ACE exam preparation. There does not appear to be any exam examples and no publications that are specifically for pre exam preparation Any advice would be welcome.
I am using RoboHelp 2015 Version 12.02.384. I have created a Responsive HTML5 Screen Layout based on the Adobe supplied Charcoal Grey layout and adjusted the colours to match my company's branding. The "Use AND search option" is enabled and displays the text "Show results that include all search words" on the Search Tab and Function Bar. But the text is displayed in grey on the Search tab and is virtually unreadable. How do I change the colour of the "Show results that include all search words" string on the Search Tab?
For one of the Word documents, RH-11 throws up an error when I try to create html files using the Primary html layout link. It's a small 50 page document about 5MB in size. What could possibly be the issue?
RoboHelp 2015.I inherited topics from a writer who has left the company. One topic has a lot of bookmarks. The only way I've found to identify where the bookmarks are used is to save a Topic Properties report as an RTF and then search the RTF for each instance of the bookmark. When I add a row to a table where each field has a bookmark, I need to understand the logic behind the bookmarks so that I can create a new bookmark and then create links to it from all appropriate places.Does anyone know of any better way to do this? Thanks.Carol Levine
RH 11 WebhelpSearch instructions would be useful; for example, people seldom think of using NOT. Is there a good way to add an instruction to the default skin, or add a search instruction that stays at the top of the search field?Thank you
I'm using RoboHelp 15 and somehow screwed up my desktop. How do I return it to the default?
When using em or % sizes in CSS, the headings are not rendering properly in Design View (RH 2015). This can be reproduced very easily: Create a new empty project, edit default.css and make the following settings:h1, h2, h3, p { font-family: Arial; font-size: 100%;}Now headings 1, 2, 3, and paragraphs should all be displayed in the browser's default font size (normally 16px). In the topic preview (and in all modern browsers), this is exactly the case:However, when looking at the same topic in Design View, all headings are displayed in different sizes, and all of them are too large:It seems that the Design View is ignoring the font-size % statement and uses fixed inherited sizes instead. With 1em instead of 100%, the behaviour is exactly the same.As a result, I am unable to use % or em sizes in my RH project because the headings appear in ridiculously blown up sizes. (In the example above, they don't, but normally you would use something like 180%, 150%
Hello,Wondering if anyone is having a similar issue. I just upgraded from RH9 to RH11. When using the 'view select topic' button (the glasses) the hyperlinks that go to another page are working fine, but pops are grayed out and not working. They work fine in the generated .chm, so it is not a show-stopper in getting content to clients, but it is a hassle when wanting to verify everything works and looks good in the viewer before taking the time to compile. Any thoughts? Thanks.
I'm using Robohelp 2015 with Windows 10 OS. Is RH 2015 compatible with Windows 10 yet? I'm having problems with the software not responding, particularly when creating or editing a hyperlink. When I click OK, nothing happens. My coworkers are running Windows 7 and using RH 2015, and they're not having any issues. We're troubleshooting the problem, and would like more information to determine the cause.
After six hours of experimentation and thorough reading of the RH forums, I cannot get a simple list to display the same in both Design View and View Item. If someone can help me, I would be most grateful. I have over 400 pages -- most with lists -- to do in RoboHelp 2015 on Windows 10 on a 1080p monitor at 96dpi. I have tried multiple combinations of margin-left, margin-right, padding-left, text-indent and list-style-position attributes. I have tried positive values and negative values in many different combinations. The result: if the Design View is WYSIWYG then the View Item is not ... and vice-versa. This problem takes away some of the usefulness of using the RoboHelp Editor for me. Now, I am faced with having to use two CSS style sheets -- one .css for CHM output (with smaller margin-left's) and another different .css (with larger margin-left's) just to see what the pages will look like. Help? -- Frustr
Need to add context sensitive help to our web application--this is first time I've done this. Have only done CSH with client-based applications on in the past. Any resources or tutorials out there to help me get started?
When I start RoboHelp, I was always clicking on open, and choosing the project file I want to work on. But today when I clicked on Open, nothing happened...it just freezed down, and I could not even close the program. If there are options or ideas why this happens...I woudl really appreciate for sharing. Thank you!
First, thank you for your help. We have RoboHelp 11 project that was working fine. Then we opened, and the files and TOC did not display. They were somehow removed from the project. We turned on the "Clear project cache (.cpd file) before opening any project." But that did not fix the problem. Does anyone have any idea what a happened? The project was working fine, then the files and TOC vanished from the project upon opening. Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
