Substance 3D Designer

Hey Good people 😀 I made a filter to optimize my team's workflow. It's done but I'm left with a black thumbnail in painter library.I checked the internet and the only thing I found is the thumbnail guideline:https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/ctn/creating-thumbnails-205362332.html In this page, I couldn't find what to do in designer or painter to attach the thumbnail so I can distribute a decent official looking filter. Thank You 🙂

Hey guys, I got two height maps that are seamless in regards to each other but for some reason both maps have a thin (5-6 px wide) outline around the edges that creates ugly bump when used as a displacement map un UE5. Is there some magic node or a workflow you could suggest in Substance Designer that would average out pixels near the edges of both maps to eliminate this thin artefacty outline? Thanks in advance! 

Hi, I want to enquire if a mobile GPU with 8GB VRAM is good for 3D rendering and animation for a smooth workflow... Eyeing the 3070 ti with 8GB VRAM on i9 12th Generation. I am having trouble to understand what spec of graphic card should I look for my laptop for animation, 3D. I am learning both but I am aiming to do client work on it as well that helps me with faster TAT as it will be my main system. I don't and will not have a desktop until 3-4 years.. so to understand it in that terms will it suffice animation like this without crashing or slowing down? (OR ELSE I am going with i9 13th gen 4080 12gb VRAM costs more but definitely future proofed.) examples: [Links removed by moderator]

I'm not sure what parameters to chose for Normal Map for 3ds Max Arnold.DirectX or OpenGL?Alpha Channel Content - Fill Alpha with input or Force Alpha to 1? I'm using a standard surface in Arnold.

When I am opening a substance graphs that I have just worked on. A lot of the default build in node become ghost instance with error messages of "Reference resources not found". I have include images of the error messages. When I compare the broken nodes with the correct node. The Graph instance value both nodes are very similar but have slight numbering difference. For example, the working Tile Sampler node have "pkg:///tile_sampler?dependency=1474624371" but the "ghost instance" Tile Sampler have Graph instance link of "pkg:///tile_sampler?dependency=1474432934" On top of that, some working nodes have their input socket missing. which pretty much make the entire network unusable. Any help is appreciated! Hello, Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.Currently I have a library of exported SD Matte Paint maps, and I want to use them to create an Arnold new AI Material Library directly not using the substance map 2.  Does anyone know the best settings using the above maps going into the Arnold Standard Surface in the new AI  Image maps with any connected Layer RGBA or Color Correction Maps.  The maps I have are from the metallic/rough workflow: Base, Height, Metallic, Normal, Roughness.   Please note that I did look at a Substance to Arnold Conversion and this is not helping much because there are different categories for inputs.  Please see attached Arnold AI Template that I am using. Please advise on best settings for the maps and the Arnold Standard Surface Material with new AI image maps. Thanks so much,Sandra

Hello, is there a way to fix arabic typing issue in substance designer? I know how to fix it in Photoshop but I can't find the same setting to apply in substance designer.  

Having a problem with the Blend node getting transparency even though Opacity is specified. Used Min (Darken).  

I made a material in Substance Designer, exposed some graph inputs that were important to me and saved as sbsar.When importing it in Marvelous Designer it shows the material as just plain white.Is there anything I could be forgetting?[Maybe important info:]- When I compare my material to other working materials in MD, the ones that work include Reflection Parameters (Reflection Intensity), Channels (Diffuse, Base Color, Normal, Specular, etc), Technical Paramenters (Luminosity, Contrast, Hue Shift etc), while mine doesn't. How can I save mine with these?

Hi! People,There's a boolean input node having indentifer name as "bevel_type"There's a second input value node. I want input value node to be visible when "bevel_type" is true.I'm finding such a simple stuff difficult.I used this as guide:Visible if: control visibility of inputs, outputs and parameters | Substance 3D Designer (adobe.com) The expression I entered in the "Visible If" of input value node is: input["bevel_type"] == Trueinput.bevel_type == True A) There's no way to add line_break/ENTER/Return in "Visible If" field as shown in the documentation link above.B) It's just giving me yellow exclamation.  

I've been trying to use Illustrator's new 3D tools to create more custom shape mock ups for a cosmetics brand, but am unable to use the library of materials on Adobe Stock to make them more realistic.Does anyone know if there is a plan to be able to download both versions? Or is there an easy way to convert without having to download additional software? It's frustrating to have a subscription to Stock but not be able to use the materials.

Hi, Yesterday, after a couple of years I tried to open Substance Player. Immediately after opening SP freezes and crashes. I’ve tried dozen of times, even updated my GPU drivers( studio driver)  but in vein. I also have latest SP installed. Windows 10. RTX 3070Any idea what could go wrong?I thought to mention I have other Adobe products on subscription basis.Anyways, hope fix is available  Tomas 

The node without this line feels that it appears with the change of the chamfer value. What should I do if I don’t want the line pointed by the arrow？ 

 Hi I'm trying to expose the value parameter (lightness) as a float1 from a color node that is represented as a float4. as you see, I attempted to break down the color node into vector float nodes , but it didn't work as I expected. Can you please help me with this issue?

Hi I have been attempting to make a part of my material transparent in Substance Designer by setting the alpha of the color node to 0. However, when I import the SBSAR file into Substance Painter, the part that was supposed to be transparent has color instead.I have done some research on this issue, but I have been unable to find a solution. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions on how to fix this problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I wonder do we got anything new in this regrad?   Any improvement?   SD is most crazy  thing in this respect.  No other 3d or 2d soft ever  so cranky and weird with distributed resources .  Never had a single issue in 3d max for example or Blender.      You give a new root folder you think resources may be stored inside and they find evrything on their own automatically.     In SD  you always pray  it would be working.    Today  for example, it asked me for missing  sbs that clearly  in the  same folder .    If I need to send a sbs someone  it collects GBs in huge archives full of senseless junk.      Will it ever changes?     I tried alieses,  special hard drive dedicated to all SD related things   I wouldn't even dare to breath on.    Nevertheless in few months it all turn

Hi,I am trying to automate batch channel packing textures. Basically, I want to take a large batch of textures with various channel packing types such as [texturename]_BC, [texturename]_R, [texturename]_RMA, [texturename]_ARM, etc and re-pack the channels into [texturename]_BC_AO and  [texturename]_N_H_R based on the file name. The issue I'm having is the import and organization based on the file name. Is there a way I can use the Automation Toolkit inside Substance Designer to achieve this result? Thanks

Hi Guys,During the years I made a bunch of custom Generators for Substance Painter.Now, I still don't find how to get access to the Anchor Points and the -Micro Details- option with my custom generatos, is there some string I have to put somewhere?Any hint, link or sample file would be extremely helpful.thank you

First of all let's clarify, i'm using the 2020 steam version for both painter and designer, don't have plans to upgrade it unless the only way to accomplish my current goals have been implemented in the newer versions.So, problem i'm currently facing, i'm trying to develop a parametric fur material/filter to be used with Substance Painter, the final product will be a filter that can take data from underlying layers and modify the resulting material, the parameters will include the flow direction (painted using a flow map on the normal layer), size, clumps and other parameters that affect the final look.The main issue with making such a material is the lack of a shape tiling node that satifies all the requirements, the two primary options explored were the tile sampler and the shape splatter nodes, but none worked properly, starting with the tile sampler, it gerenrates pretty decent patterns and height information, but has the major drawback of not working with color and height in the s

example image attached. When publishing sbsar the internal folder structure is lost - it appears that only the first graph within a folder retains it's original path. This behaviour occurs with  Designer 12.3.0 and Automation toolkit 12.4.0 on more than one machineThis is a significant issue when batch replacing dependencies
