After Effects keeps crashing (not enough memory)

New Here ,
Mar 11, 2025 Mar 11, 2025

Everytime I use After Effects it keeps on crashing show me an error of (Unable to allocate memory). Even on light task like animating the motion of simple text and image it's giving me an error of not enough memory. This makes it totally unusable since it'll only take 2 - 5 mins for it to show the error, crash and then restart the software.

IDK what's causing this issue but I'm using a couple of plugins and it didn't cause these error in the past.

Here are the list of  plugins installed
* borisfx sapphire
* Mister Horse
* Deep Glow
* Fx Console.

Here's my system
Windows 10 Pro
i9 10850k
Rtx 4070 ti super
64 GB Ram
2* 2TB NVME M.2 Samsung 980 pro

Hi @Von Paolo3008525010i3,

Sorry to hear about all the trouble you're having. First, thank you for listing your installed plug-ins and system info, that's super helpful. I have a few more questions that could help guide us to a solution:

  1. What exact version of AE are you running (this should include whether it's the release or beta build, the version number, as well as the build number? Please find this in the Help > About Adobe After Effects menu.
  2. Have you verified that you're running the latest version of each of your installed plug-ins? In my personal work, I've seen crashes in the past with FX Console, although not this specific one, and we know there have been crashing issues with certain versions of Animation Composer.
  3. Please try disabling your third-party effects using the Effects Manager under Edit > Manage Effects. The default setting only lists third-party effects, so you can easily hit the Disable All button to temporarily stop those plug-ins from loading. Restart AE, and if you can work for more than five minutes without crashing then it seems likely that one of your plug-ins is causing the issue. You can use the Effects Manager to re-enable each plug-in one-at-a-time.
  4. If disabling your third-party plug-ins doesn't stop the crashing, try starting in Safe Mode. This will load AE with a temporary set of fresh preferences and it will prevent native effects from loading. If can work for more than five minutes without crashing, then it's possible that you have corrupt preferences. You can start in Safe Mode after a crash with the dialog that pops up, or if AE is already open, you can go to Preferences > Startup & Repair > Start in Safe Mode...

Let me know what you come up with.

Thanks,
- David, After Effects Engineering Team
