BUG - Cached Preview not playing back V23.1 onwards

  • Issue - Playback on the cached preview on the timeline is not working. The playhead just jumps straight to the end of the cached preview and will not play the cached section.
  • Adobe After Effects version number - V23.1 onwards
  • Operating system - Windows 10 Pro
  • Steps to reproduce - Create a clip with footage in it. Attempt to play it back.
  • Expected result - The playhead should play from the start of the cached part of the timeline.
  • Actual result -  The playhead jumps to the end of the cached part of the timeline.

    I systematically uninstalled all versions of AE on my system. Then starting with version 22.0 , install them one at time to work out where it started happening. It works fine on every version up until 23.1 when it starts happening.

Are you able to create a screen recording of the issue when it occurs? That would be the best place to start. When you uninstalled each version, did you also remove the preferences each time? It's possible this behavior is related to the preview playback settings.
