Hello, I'm having problems, something related to RAM because a notification appears saying that, but I've already allocated all the RAM of the MAC to the after and it still appears, I can't play the preview
I've tried clearing cache, changing the renderer, but nothing works
Can someone help me?

Hola! Ayuda!
Espero me puedan ayudaaar! Gracias.

It's apparently a bug in AE 22.6 on Macs. feel free to downgrade to 22.5.

Since the update previews are horrible, with a "Low memory warning" message in the same files I was working on just a few days ago. And AE uses only 10% of allowed memory. I'm on Macbook Pro M1, with the latest OSX.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing poor performance.
Could you share more details about the source footage settings (frame size, frame rate, color depth), the project settings (Color Space, Bits Per Channel), and the Composition settings (Comp Size, Frame Rate, Resolution while working)?
Are you running the Apple Silicon native version or running it using Rosetta?
Also, what are you seeing when you use the Composition Profiler?
I find the MacBook Pro M1 13-inch to be very responsive working at 3840-by-2160 at 23.976 or 29.97 at Quarter resolution when using slow to render effects like CC Light Burst and the MacBook Pro M1 Max to be... well... extermely responsive for 3840-by-2160 work.

Hi Warren, thanks for your reply. Here are the details:
Project settings:
Workspace: none
Depth: 16bit
Comp settings:
1080x1080
30fps
Res: even 1/4 wasn't previewed well
8 seconds long
Footage:
Illustrator file imported as a comp, 20 layers altogether.
I use Overlord and Animation Composer 3. (Overlord didn't work with the AE)
I was running it on Apple Silicon native version.
As you can see this is a fairly simple project, and yet memory warning was all over the place. This type of project you can easily run on your smartwatch 🙂 The same thing happened with any other project I opened. THEN I installed 22.4.0 and everything works perfectly, as before for every project. Previews are in Full and without hiccups or any warning messages. So there is something about 22.6. that was messed up. I see today is a new patch for AE. Will try that to see if there are any improvements, but I'm getting tired of paying for beta-testing something that should be stable.

Hi @Pedjan,
@Mayank - Motion is also having an issue with Overlord in After Effects 22.6. I suspect the plugin is not compatible with the latest version of After Effects. I'd suggest that you contact the plugin manufacturer.
Re: And AE uses only 10% of allowed memory.
Where did you check that After Effects only uses 10% of the allowed memory?
Can you remove Overlord temporarily to see if that improves the preview and stops the low warning banner from coming up?
Let us know.

Hi @Rameez_Khan
I updated AE to the latest version and now is a bit better previewing, choppy but at least some results are there with the simple file. Later I loaded a bit more complex file with the motion blur (60fps) and I could get 2-3 seconds of the preview. With 22.4 I could get the whole timeline in Full quality. Overlord was completely disabled.
Regarding AE uses of allowed memory are displayed in the About After Effects window, as you can see in the attachment unless that info is not reliable:

Hi @Rameez_Khan ,
I am having the same issue with a "low memory warning" message when I am trying to preview my comp. I am not using any plugins.
M1 Macbook Pro 2020 16GB. I am just doing some simple camera tracking and motion tracking for stabilizing and adding a couple animation assets on to 4K footage (have never had this issue in the past - same camera/footage/codec/format/bitrate). The project now has an average frame render time of 600ms, compared to about 50-100ms before the update.
I can't even preview my entire timeline (only 10 seconds), it just loops the same 20ish frames.

Hi! I just had to downgrade to 22.4 because of the "5 frames preview error". I had it in the 22.5 and still happening in 22.6. Even a 2 simple shapes with positon animation (3s) the new orange memory bar appears. Downgrading to 22.4 and all works fine (even a lot of layers). Please, correct this bug because It is impossible to work this way. (iMac 27 i7, 24 gb RAM. macOS Monterey 12.5.1)

Thanks for providing the details, @xbeiro!
Would it be possible for you to share your project, media, and a detailed system report with us so that the After Effects team can investigate what's going on?

Rameez, I am getting the orange memory bar on the bottom of the comp window as well. This was not happening with the last version. In all my years of using After Effects, I have never seen this bar. Even purging the Ram will not fix the issue, I have to quit and reboot the program. I must have rebooted 15 times today. Its really hard to work.
The project isnt overly complex. HD, not a lot of effects. Fair amount of precomps but this hasnt happened in the last version. The third party plugins I have are Red Giant (Trapcode, Magic Bullet, VFX, Universe), FT Lens Distortion, Optical Flare, Real Glow, Deep Glow and Irrealix Potok.
Any help would be greatly appreicated.

After Effects, this new version is really irritating. It's working very slow, Sometime it shows a "low memory warning" message when I am trying to preview my comp. I am not using any plugins and I have 32GB of RAM. I even tried just importing a normal mp4 video and previewing that it showed "low memory warning" without any edit I rendered that video it took hours.

Hi All, I had the same problems. AE just did not seem to use the RAM I had while I saw Photoshop using a lot more. What helped me is unchecking the option "Reduce cache size when system is low on memory". It didn't work right away but after some restarts I now don't get de orange warning anymore.
Hope this helps.

Hi all,
Update (09/15):
The After Effects team is investigating this issue; they think it might be caused by a combination of effects. Some effects might not be releasing memory efficiently, causing the low memory warning banner to come up.
The team has also identified a workaround:
1. Launch After Effects. If you're already using After Effects, you must relaunch it.
2. Go to File > Project Settings > Video Rendering and Effects
Alternatively, you can bring up this window by clicking the rocket icon in the Project panel.
3. Choose "Mercury Software Only" to disable GPU Acceleration.
Please follow these steps and let us know if you experience any improvement in this behavior.
Additionally, can you generate a report (File > Dependencies > Collect Files > Generate Report Only) and post it here so we can see what effects may be used in the projects?
I appreciate your patience.
Thanks,
Rameez

Mercury Software Only did not worked for me.
MacBook Air M1 2020
Big Sur 11.6.8
16GB RAM (4GB RAM reserved...)
AE 22.6
Only working with Shape Layers (with around 40 shapes per layer) only one Shape Layer at a time, one MP3 audio layer and one Video layer (used to be a MP4 file but I changed it to ProRes to check if that was the issue with no difference on the outcome).
No effects used on any layer or comp what so ever.

Also, this is the only Project where I have this problem.
I started and finished another project (in parallel with the faulty one) with PSD Layers and MP3 audio some expressions (DUIK and others), Puppet Pins etc. and everything worked great.
