Searching for an effect plugin that shows error message (e.g. no license) if you try to render

Explorer ,
Nov 23, 2018 Nov 23, 2018

Hi

I want to test some batch rendering issues and I am searching for an effect plugin that shows an error message if you try to render a comp.

For example a message that asks for a serial or registration.

I found some effect plugins, but they all render a red cross and do not show any message.

thanks,

I am not talking about missing plugins either.

And I asked in a different forum and got this answer,

there you see a license dialog and not a red cross:

The red X means the software is not licensed. Other error messages depend on the software (plug-in) that is being used. Unless a crash log is generated or a Render Cue error log has been created and saved there is no way to isolate those effects. Even if you did find them and remove them, you would still get an error that tells you that an effect is missing.

If you have licenses and you want to re-install then run the installers again and follow the licensing instructions. Otherwise, it is just going to take opening up comps and looking for unlicensed plug-ins.

I did read the post. There are dozens if not hundreds that show a message. There is no automatic way of figuring out what effect is causing the problem. You have to look manually.

>There is no automatic way of figuring out what effect is causing the problem
I do not have a problem with any plugin. I want to create a problem to test batch rendering.

>There are dozens if not hundreds that show a message

Then please name one.

That is what my whole question is about.

I am searching for a plugin that shows an error message dialog if you try to render.

I don't remember. All of my plug-ins are licensed. Unlikely candidates are anything from Red Giant or Borris FX. Likely candidates are effects from smaller companies or effects that have not been updated in a long time.

If there is no indication in the error message I would open up the comp that is giving you that error, view the flow chart to see what effects have been applied, and select all layers in all comps and press E to reveal all applied effects, then start turning them off in the timeline and send the comp to be rendered.

>I don't remember.

And now you see why I am asking the community.

>If there is no indication in the error message I would open up the comp that is giving you that error,

Where do you read that I have a problem with a plugin or effect that I need to fix?

I do not have any problem with any plugin at the moment.

I have NO plugin that shows me an error message.

I want to have one that creates a problem.

You might get lucky enough to find someone that has the experience of receiving an error message from an unlicensed plugin that also has no indication who made the plugin, but I wouldn't hold your breath. I cannot remember a single time I have had an error message from a plug-in that did not identify the effect that was having the problem.

Where do you get all that information from? About no indication who made the plugin?
Where have I said that?
Where do you read that I have a problem at the moment?
Why do you try to solve an error that does not exist?

I do NOT have any plugin with an error.

I do NOT use any effect that shows an error message.

I even do NOT have a composition.
I have nothing at the moment.

Literally nothing. (Beside an installation of After Effects)

I want to have a plugin/effect that creates an error message.

And then I create a composition with that effect to get an error message if I try to render.

And then I want to test this error with batch rendering.

"And then I create a composition with that effect to get an error message if I try to render"

What error are you looking for and how are you going to simulate this error?

Rick Gerard Can u understand the OP's requirements?

>What error are you looking for
Any message dialog window that prevents the render from finishing.

>and how are you going to simulate this error?

That it exactly the issue. I can't myself.
Therefore I am searching for an effects plugin that shows an error message.

I see two possible ways if I finally have such a plugin:

1)
I create a comp, perhaps with a disabled preview.

I apply the filter (perhaps it shows a message that I can ignore)

I add the comp to the render queue.

Once I try to render the queue, I get the message again.

2)
I ask the vendor ot the plugin for a temp license.

I create the comp, apply the filter, add it to the render queue.

I delete the license to get the error message.

Hi Mo Moolla

Your links seem to be plugins that handle batch rendering.

But I am searching for an effects plugin.

I am doing the batch rendering myself.

I just need to know the name of some effects plugin.

>RED GIANT

Already tried their effects suite today, they use a red cross.

>REVISIONFX
Used their plugins years ago, red cross as well.

>ROWBYTE PLEXUS 3
Works in demo mode if you do not enter the registration code

>STARDUST

Just tried, they print demo into the image

I already tried a list of the "most used AFX plugins",

but these major vendors have either never had the issue or fixed it (Like Knoll fixed it).
And as plugins with this error message issue are rare, I wanted to ask the community if someone KNOWS a plugin.

As it is faster than to test 1000 plugins myself to find one.

But it seems asking the community in this forum was not a good idea.

I will try somewhere else.

Try this as well

https://aescripts.com/bg-renderer/

Will definitely ask for a license

I use it often because you can have it render in the background while you continue working in AE

Also much faster than AE's built in renderer. Mine is however liccensed

Third party plugins don't work like that; they always show the "error" by means of something burned into the frame. Since a render to Media Encoder always runs AE in headless mode it's not possible for a plugin to rely on being able to access the user interface API.

I definitely know that there are plugins out there that show a message.

Yes, they can not rely on it, but there are plugin vendors that forgot to think about batch rendering when they implemented the licensing.

And the rendering freezes because of that.

For example the Knoll Light Factory had the issue, but they fixed it.
The issue even got into the documentation of the render manager Deadline.

Just google the following and the first link is a link to their documentation.
"Knoll Light Factory plugin has also been known to cause this error message when it can’t get a license"

As all of the peope before me said - there are no such plugin in AE that would give you that. Even if you even had project premade with some plugin and you don't have that plugin anymore - AE will tell you about missing plugins and fonts when you open the project but after ignoring that AE will render without any issues and popups or errors. So you can ask us or you can test 1000 plugins but you should not be mad on us or those 1000 plugin makers if you get answers that are not satisfying for you.

>but you should not be mad on us

Yes, I was just a bit annoyed that I got answers about an issue I do not have.

Even after I told 3-4 times that I do not have a problem. I tried to explain the issue again and again and again.

I am not a native english speaker, but it was not that complicated to understand, was it?
In my eyes: If you do not know why i mean, you can ask.

And confirm if you have understood the question.

And not thinking of a similar issue and answer to that other issue.
Because then I have to correct you, just to get another answer to a differrent issue, and again and again...

frustrating...

How would you feel if you go into a store and ask for some milk. And he gives you some Coke.
And you ask again for Milk and get some Juice.
So you ask again and try to explain in more detail what Milk is.
