Welcome back to our series on free After Effects resources from across the web. If you're just joining us, we've already covered Camera Crew by Motion Ape, DUIK Ángela, and Motion Tools Classic, all worth a look. This time we're looking at a big one for anyone who does motion graphics, social content, or fast-turnaround client work. If you've ever wished you had a library of ready-made transitions and elements you could just drag into a comp, the AEJuice Starter Pack is exactly that, and it's free. Meet the AEJuice Starter PackThe AEJuice Starter Pack is a free collection of 100+ drag-and-drop motion graphics assets, delivered through AEJuice's Pack Manager panel. Instead of building common elements from scratch every time, you browse a visual library right inside After Effects, drag what you need onto your timeline, and keep moving.A nice bonus: the Starter Pack works in Premiere Pro too, so it's not just an After Effects tool. What you can do with itThe Starter Pack packs a lot into
Welcome back to our series on free After Effects resources from across the web. If you missed the earlier posts, we covered Camera Crew by Motion Ape and DUIK Ángela, both well worth a look. This time we're keeping it simple, with a small toolkit that a lot of you have probably already used without thinking about it. Motion Tools Classic is one of those tools that just quietly speeds up the boring parts of every animation. Meet Motion Tools ClassicMotion Tools Classic, from the team at Motion Design School, is the original free version of Motion Tools, the everyday animation toolkit that's been trusted by motion designers since 2017. In a world of heavy, do-everything plugins, this one goes the other way on purpose. It's a small, focused set of the tools you actually reach for every day, with nothing extra to get in the way.And it's completely free. What you can do with itMotion Tools Classic keeps things tight and practical:Easing – apply and adjust easing with clean, simple controls
Hi, really hoping someone can help me. Spent the last 4 hours trying every tutorial I can find on this and absolutely zero progress, pretty much given up.Essentially I want to create just the shape in the middle and ‘ripple’ out concentric copies so I end up with the full set of offsets. Ideally I want the shapes to be no fill/stroke but with a darker inner glow/shadow. The original shape is in Illustrator (although the image is created in Photoshop. Am assuming the best way is to create the glow/shadow effect in After Effects around the shape of the path?Everytime I try I can’t get a glow without a fill or stroke which ruins the effect.Has anyone got any suggestions? I’m pretty new with AE although used Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign for decades.Start frame – still struggling to create this in AE (this is a PSD file just to show what I’m trying to achieve)Ideal End Frame
I’ve an interesting issue. I have spent a bit of time recreating the look of AE’s expression editor as a Per Character styling expression. It’s not complete yet, but serves my purposes… but the per-frame render time add 5s each frame. And rendering out a 90 second sequence took 90 minutes. I’m wondering if there’s a way to bake the expression styling once done. Here’s the code if anyone wants to experiment:///// HEX COLOR CONFIGURATION //////var hexBase = "#D4D4D4"; // Off-whitevar hexBlue = "#3E8FE1"; // Blue (Keywords)var hexLtBlue = "#48D9FD"; // Light Blue (Numbers)var hexPink = "#F67476"; // Pink (Strings)var hexYellow = "#9D9039"; // Yellow (Brackets)var hexLightYellow = "#DCBE84"; // Yellow (reserved terms)var hexGreen = "#6A9955"; // Green (Comments)var hexCursor = "#FFFFFF"; // White (Cursor)///// Convert Hex to AE-friendly RGB [0,1]function hexToRgb(hex) { var r = parseInt(hex.slice(1, 3), 16) / 255; var g = parseInt(hex.slice(3, 5), 16) / 255; var
Dear Adobe team,I’d like to bring up a suggestion that I believe has been overlooked for quite some time. As a regular user of Adobe After Effects, I find it increasingly limiting that there is no built-in option to export animations directly to HTML5 formats—such as JavaScript canvas, SVG animations, or other web-friendly code.I understand that some of this is partially possible through the Bodymovin (Lottie) plugin, but it comes with significant limitations and cannot handle more complex compositions or effects. Adobe Animate is technically the designated tool for HTML5 animation, but let’s be honest—it feels outdated, clunky, and simply isn’t up to the standards required for serious motion design work today. After Effects has immense creative power, and the ability to natively export animations to HTML5 would make its output much more accessible for modern web integration—without relying on video formats or inefficient workarounds. I truly believe this feature would be a huge asset f
Title: Context menus do not stay open inside modal dialogs (macOS)SummaryOn macOS, right-clicking inside any modal dialog in After Effects causes the context menu to appear and dismiss immediately, before an item can be selected. Context menus function normally everywhere else in the application — Timeline, Project panel, Composition panel, Effect Controls, docked and floating panels. The failure is specific to modal dialogs.System- Mac mini M4 - macOS 26.6.2 (25G83)- After Effects 26.5.0 (Build 89)- Also reproduces in the current After Effects BetaSteps to reproduce1. Open any composition.2. Composition > Composition Settings.3. Left-click the Preset field4. The context menu flashes on screen and dismisses before an item can be chosen.Same result in other modal dialogs, including Output Module Settings and Render Settings.Expected resultThe context menu opens and remains open until an item is selected or the menu is dismissed.Actual resultThe menu renders and disappears on the same
I am relatively new to AE, but havent had this issue before. I have a few files that simply crash when trying to open on mac. They get to about 40% (although that varies slightly file to file, but seem to be in that region), but then just get the spinning beach ball and they dont progress. I have a PC too, so installed AE on that and the file opens instantly with no issue. Resaved the file from the PC version, tried to open that on Mac but crashed again. I have tried;• Opening file from different locations on the computer• Safe Mode• Empty Caches• Reset Prefs• Uninstall, restart, reinstallBut nothing works. Baffled, especially where it opens immediately on PC, which would rule out file corruption. Files were all created on the same Mac that now wont open them.Any ideas?
Hi everyone,I’m having an issue with preview playback in After Effects. The composition starts caching normally, but when I play it back, the preview still stutters and some of the cached frames seem to be rendered again instead of playing smoothly.I’ve already tried lowering the preview resolution and clearing the cache, but the behavior is still there. The composition is not particularly complex either. Is there a Preview or cache setting I should check that could be causing After Effects to rebuild frames during playback?I found this related discussion about cached frames being re-rendered during Preview.
A longstanding After Effects bug that has become incredibly frustrating and feels unacceptable in a professional workflow. The issue affects EXR image sequences from 3D renders. When I use Freeze Frame, or enable Time Remapping and set a Hold keyframe, After Effects shows the frame as frozen in the time-code for the footage. The Time Remap value stays constant and the hold keyframe is present, but the footage in the Composition viewer continues playing through the EXR sequence normally. If I precompose the exact same EXR sequence and apply the freeze or time remapping to the precomp, it works correctly. So the issue appears to be with After Effects evaluating the EXR sequence directly. This has been happening for a long time across multiple projects. Having to precompose every image sequence just to hold a frame is not a reasonable workaround.EXR sequences are standard in professional 3D workflows, and Freeze Frame and Time Remapping are basic After Effects functions. They should work toge
simple 3D scene, 2 lights, background plane, text with extrusion and bevel. Preview is good, render with any Adobe engine is bad. Can see colour banding and random colour block artifacts in the output. Lighting is completely different on the render, illumination in a different spot entirely. Switching to C4D render looks as expected (sooooo slow)Won’t render cleanly with any of the adobe renderers. Render with Adobe advancedPreview and C4D version
Hi!In my company we are thre people with the Self-Service-Subscription But I am the only one who can’t update anymore. There is no new version in the CC, nor in the direct Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/desktop/troubleshooting/fixed-and-known-issues/fixed-issues.htmlany solution? Thanks a lot!
Hi,Hopefully I can describe this correctly…I’m essentially looking to pair/join the bottom anchor points of the green rectangle with the top anchor points of the orange rectangle, so that I can animate the boxes changing their depth up and down whilst the overall group never changes height or width.Does that make sense? Can anyone help with this?CheersSteve
I stopped using after effects for about a month, tried opening it and had this problem, not really sure what could be causing this problem, ive uninstalled after effects and creative cloud as a whole but that did nothing. Ive tried starting in administrator, deleting my preference folder, allowing all adobe software through my firewall. I cant really think of anything else to try so if anyone has any ideas please let me know, if you need more information let me know. Thanks Title edited by Mod.
As a heavy After Effects user for almost 20 years, I often find the Project panel very limited. We usually juggle many kinds of assets, mainly JPGs and PNGs, often in the hundreds. I still need to switch to Finder to see larger icon previews because the AE thumbnails feel too small, and there is no way to make them bigger. I think it is time to redesign the Project panel, similar to what Premiere already offers:Ability to view folders and assets in an icon grid layout Ability to zoom in and out on icon size Improved search functionality, including filtering by file kind Instant preview of video and audio files directly in the panel Ability to change Interpret Footage settings (such as frame rate, alpha channel, or loop count) on multiple files at once, instead of doing it one by one Ability to change multiple composition settings at the same time (we currently rely on an external script called CompSetter for this) Ability to see more metadata, such as color space There are probably oth
Simulation effects: Who does not love them?Particle Playground being a native plugin of AE (non Cycore) is very powerful, full of potencial and i love to experiment with it. The issue is that is slow.. incredible slow. And althought there are much better but payed 3rd party plugins it would be nice for AE to have its own 2025-26 GPU accelerated 2d/3d updated particle system internally to properly balance its market competition on this.Does this idea connect with anyone else?
We always make animations in AE and export to .mp4.However, we'd like to learn how to import our AE project in to a software programme and export to .SVG (export to SVG from AE would be nice)What is the correct work flow for this task? And indeed, what is the correct Adobe package or other?Animated GIFs and .swf files aren't quite right. This is just for simple animated logos for the time being. On a transparent layer even. Are SVGs limited to line art?All help appreciated!Matt
Hi, im trying to duplicate a composition in after effects and make it independent from the original but it seems to be imposible.. im working on CS5. Can somebody help me PLEASE??Thanks
I know this falls into the "this can't possibly be true" category, but please don't dismiss it outright. I have gut-checked this a few different ways over several months, and currently have custom OCIO view transforms to counter it in production. On a Mac, After Effects sends the Composition viewer to the screen without converting it to the display's color profile whenever the project uses the OCIO color engine or has color management off. Every other app on the Mac converts, including Preview and QuickTime Player, so you see After Effects' own render. So the same frame looks more saturated inside After Effects than anywhere else.Every Mac made in the last decade has a Display P3 screen, and with SDR views in Adobe's bundled ACES configs, targeting sRGB or Rec.709, this affects every OCIO user on a Mac.The Adobe color engine converts correctly when a working space is set, so the code path exists. It is just not applied to OCIO output. To be extra clear: on Windows the After Effects viewp
The 26.5 version seems to be really problematic. It crashes a lot when I am rendering project with timeremaped video and I have no autosaves to save my previous work because it just does nothing before render, even when I have Autosave before render ON in preferences.. Sadly need to downgrade also on other machine too..
I can not access the textures for after effects. I was able to last week.
I think it would be useful to borrow the Lock Workspace feature from Photoshop for After Effects, esp with the wide use of so many scripts and CEP panels in many workflows. I accidentally pull off tabs or slide them around in my day-to-day use of AE, esp since I’m using a Wacom pen most of the time.I’m sure there’s some wrinkles to consider, esp when switching Workspaces while locked - do you prompt with a pop-up or automatically switch it?
I have project made in AE26.3 where I am using varible OpenSans font to achieve decided effects. After I updated to AE26.5 it is not working and OpenSans variable is not installed / seen by AE. Other variable fonts are, but not OpenSans. Only fixed weight variant is available. It also show missing OpenSans Roman variable - I do not know why roman, but I believe that should be the problem - wrong indentification. But until it will be fixed I have to use older version, sadly..
I have found a reproducible After Effects file-import problem when using an SMB network volume on the macOS Golden Gate beta. When I try to import a PNG file from a network path containing Icelandic characters, After Effects displays:After Effects error: File exists but couldn't be open for reading (3 :: 0) Example failing path:/Volumes/markadsdeild/Markadsdeild/Sjónvarp/06 On-Air grafík/01 SÝN/Vatnsmerki/01 Renders/01 Taka 2/01 Hvítt/Syn-vatnsmerki-hvitt_00025.png The file is visible in Finder and can be copied to my local Desktop. After copying it locally, After Effects imports it successfully.I also tested the same file on the same network volume using an ASCII-only folder and filename:/Volumes/markadsdeild/AE_test/test_00025.png That version imports successfully into After Effects. This suggests that After Effects may be encountering a path or Unicode-normalization problem when accessing files through an SMB volume. The problem appears to involve Icelandic characters such as í, ó,
I consistently experience a problem when trying to select a font for a Text Layer using the Properties Panel or Character Panel. Typing anything in the font combobox to search for a font produces the following error:After Effects warning: Unknown BIB Error. bad INDEX offset array, CT, 0 (83::3)Dismissing the error by clicking OK, the error immediate pops up again, rendering After Effects unusable from this point forward. Additionally, if the project is not saved and an initial save prompt is displayed in the middle of the infinite loop of the above errors, saving or dismissing the Save As dialog will cause After Effects to then crash. Steps to reproduce:1. Create a text layer.2. Open the Properties Panel or Character Panel3. With the text layer selected in the timeline, focus the font combobox in the Properties Panel or Character Panel and begin typing. The "INDEX" in all caps makes me wonder if it's a property of a particular font that is trying to be read during enumer
