Lightroom v9.5 Is Live! Extend Photos with Generative Expand, Refine Masks with Precision, and Edit More Smoothly The August 2026 update to Adobe Lightroom (version 9.5) introduces AI-powered photo expansion, more precise masking controls, and performance enhancements to help photographers and creators work more efficiently and stay in flow. What’s New:Lightroom (version 9.5) brings more control and flexibility to everyday creative workflows with the introduction of Generative Expand, one of the release's most significant additions. This new Firefly-powered feature lets you extend photos beyond their original borders and intelligently generate content that blends naturally with the existing image, making it easier to recover poorly framed shots, create new aspect ratios for social media and marketing formats, reconstruct missing edges, or fill transparent gaps left behind after perspective corrections. Photographers can choose between Firefly Fill & Expand, which generates multiple
Adobe is excited to receive requests for additional features you need to enhance your workflow. What can you do to increase the chances of being heard? Don't use the words "Feature Request" in your post's title. Search for and add to existing feature requests rather than creating duplicates. There is no advantage to creating a second request for any existing feature request. One request per thread! When creating an Idea or Feature Request thread, please keep requests for features to ONE request per thread. Doing this will allow others to vote on a single, specific feature and not confuse Upvotes amongst a list of feature requests. If an Idea thread has multiple requests in it, a moderator may ask you to split the multiple requests up into multiple threads so others can vote. In the event there remain multiple requests on a thread, the first item requested will be the arbiter of where the thread will be cross-referenced or merged. Assisted Culling → “Automatically analyze all photos in catalog” -- is causing LRC to crash while running. I am seeing others complaining of the same issue on Reddit. Turning Assisted Culling → Automatically analyze all photos in catalog off for the catalog fixes this problem entirely. I’d like to request proper support for Smart Albums syncing to iPad within Adobe Lightroom. At the moment, Smart Albums (or Smart Collections) created on desktop do not carry across to mobile devices in a usable way. While I understand collections can be synced, the actual rules and automation behind Smart Albums are lost. This is a real limitation for workflows like mine.I manage a large, structured image archive (40,000+ images), using Smart Albums to organise content by:Location (e.g. streets and areas) Subject (buildings, features, etc.) Status (new, ready, published)During the working week, my primary device is an iPad, it’s what I use on the go to review, select, and prepare content. Desktop access is limited to evenings or weekends.Because Smart Albums don’t sync, I have to:Manually recreate album structures Copy images between albums Rely on workarounds instead of automationThis adds unnecessary time and increases the risk of inconsistencies. What would help:Smart Albums syncing

Hello, I would like to report an issue with “Save copy to device” in Lightroom Mobile for Android.Device / PlatformMy smartphone is an Android phone.I am using Lightroom Mobile v11.3.1 on my Android smartphone.IssueWhen I open a photo in Lightroom Mobile and chooseShare → Save copy to device,I get the error message:“Couldn’t complete export”and the photo is not saved to my Android device. What I have already checkedMy Adobe account is correct. Cloud sync is working properly. The same photos are visible in Lightroom on my laptop. The same photos are also visible in Lightroom Web. My Android phone has enough free storage space. I restarted the phone. I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom. After reinstalling, I signed in again and completed syncing. Use Cellular Data is enabled in Lightroom settings. I force-stopped the app and reopened it. I also cleared the app cache. I tried Store locally for an album, but it also did not work properly.Comparison testOn my Galaxy Tab / Lightroom v11.2
Since last couple of months whenever I try to edit the photos on my phone (Lightroom) It's very squareish and pixelated. All the photos are fine but when I try to edit it goes In o this(screenshot attached)I'm not sure what's the issue. Looking forward to the help.
Hello, Since the latest update of Lightroom mobile on my Nokia 8, the possibility to take photographs with the app has disapeared (no more blue camera). Is this normal? Could it be specifically related to my device (no more supported for ex)? Thank you in advance! Joël
When I try and link my google photo account to my Lightroom for web account, the pop-in window shows up then immediately goes away. It doesn’t allow me to choose a Google account to link, it just pops up then goes away.
Error message, mfc140u.dll file not found when launching, tried reinstalling with no sucess
Hi, I have an issue with Lightroom (installed from the adobe cloud). Search is broken for me all the time when searching for words in file names. I can't get it to come back with any results for anything. It says "Oh no! A blackhole"
I shoot in 4:3 ratio on my Sony A7R5 but the default size of the sensor is 3:2.Every time I create a new project, I go to Crop, Reset it and copy the crop settings to all the images so they will be 3:2. Everything is fine until I quit LR and after reopening, the Ratio goes back to 4:3.This has been happening forever and it’s really a pain.First of all, there is no way to save a Default Import Preset to include Crop Ratio, which is dumb and second, the Crop tool should at least “remember” the setting it had before quitting.Talking about crop. I would love to see an AI crop that analyses the image and auto crops it according to subject size. For example, a person or a car or a plate of food.It would be amazing as a starting point now that Generative Expand is available, it makes sense.
I have Lightroom Classic on my PC and on my laptop. One catalog doesn’t seem to fully sync, there are three files missing on my laptop catalog. This catalog is fully synched on my Lightroom versions on my tablet and Phone, so it’s just the laptop that’s missing the files. Any suggestions much appreciated.
When a client picks favorites through a gallery tool like Pixieset, the delivery workflow is: copy the list of filenames, paste into Lightroom's search, pull up just those photos to edit. Right now pasting more than 1-2 filenames breaks the search entirely, either no results or an actual error screen ("Oh no! A black hole"). This happens on both Lightroom desktop and the web app.Lightroom Classic already handles this correctly (Library Filter > Text > Filename > Contains Any, works with any number of pasted names), so the underlying logic clearly exists. It's just missing from cloud/CC search. This would help any photographer who delivers galleries and needs to pull a client's exact picks back into Lightroom to edit, which is a pretty universal part of the job, not an edge case.
En la aplicación de android me pongo en máscaras y no viene la función para seleccionar objetos para cambiarles de color
It is not yet clear whether the data entry issue in the "Masks" section has been fixed, as a new problem has already appeared. It causes even more inconvenience, because it cannot be solved by switching from photo to photo and back.It is impossible to manually enter values in the "Exposure" field. Both on the main panel in general settings and in the "Masks" section. Using the mouse cursor or the up/down arrows on the keyboard, everything works correctly. But doing it manually is impossible. For example, when you need to enter exact values, such as +0.05 and the like. And this wouldn't be a big problem and could be done with the slider using the mouse, BUT there is an important catch. In the "Masks" section, when moving the slider with the mouse, it jumps only and immediately by 4 points, not by 1, as required for fine-tuning. For example, its values can only be 4, 8, 12 (and not 1, 2, 3), and so on. When I want to enter +0.06, an error message appears and the value increases straight
I have a workflow where I convert my Sony ARW files to DNG files as they are much more space efficient. Currently I have to do this through Lightroom Classic using the Library menu -> Convert to DNG. It would be incredible convenient to do the DNG conversion direcly in the cloud, on the android app or at least on the windows lightroom. This way I would not have to deal with the brittle sync between Lightroom Classic and Lightroom, and everything could be done on the go.
On Lightroom for iPad, copying the Denoise setting from one photo and pasting it to multiple photos causes the destination photos to show Denoise as enabled, but the actual Denoise processing is not performed. This issue is reproducible with photos from multiple camera models, so it does not appear to be camera-specific.If I disable Denoise on one of the affected destination photos and then enable it again manually, Lightroom starts the Denoise processing operation. After the processing completes, Denoise is correctly applied. This suggests that Paste Settings copies the Denoise setting/state, but does not trigger the actual Denoise processing. I'm probably at the low end of the prosumer category when it comes to photography. I've been using Lightroom for a couple of years. I love the multiple platform feature on the new CC, but geotagging images has always been important for me (enough so that onboard GPS is a mandatory feature when I look for a camera). I had been adding locations to older images in what's now CC Classic. Are we going to get that ability in the new CC? Even more importantly, will the new AI-based search allow us to do things like pull pictures based on location? And, if so, will we be able to do things like define a radius? This was all possible when we had the maps panel, but seems to be challenging now.
