Mask tracking zero progress

Hello,

I applied the Gaussian Blur effect on a video clip and used the pen tool to apply a mask around a number plate. I then hit the play button to track the mask as the car moves but the progress bar doesn't show any progress. When I select "Stop" I am then unable to select track again as all the buttons are greyed out.

I'm using M1 Max so I don't think it is an isssue with memory.

Thanks,

I found a solution that worked for me.

I made a mask around my subject using 'opacity' so this may differ by effect.

I copied my opacity mask then nested the clip and pasted the mask from the original onto the nested clip. Tracking worked fine and had no issues from there.

Hope this helps someone.

Hey VPremEdit01,

Sorry for the problem you’re experiencing. Could you share a screen recording of the issue so we can better understand what’s wrong? Also, please share the properties of the files you are working with. Is the problem present in this specific project or is it the same for all projects? Please share your system details too (OS, OS version, CPU, GPU, RAM).

Regards,

Ishan

@VPremEdit01 did you ever solve this?  I am having the same issue on an M1 machine.  Tracking starts, and stays at zero progress for as long as I don;t touch it - and nothing happens.  If I cancel, the tracking controlls are greyed out and unusable.

Hi,

Thanks for your time.

Like the title says, I'm just trying to track a basic circle shape on a city scape. The progess bar appears, then stops or gets hung. Any ideas?

Thanks,

G

Same issue here... I have the latest update on my Macbook Pro 14" with M1 Pro.

I tried to apply a simple rectangular Mask for the Tint effect, as soon as i click the "Track selected mask forward" button the progress bar appears but it stays stuck forever (see attached screenshots)...

Same issue here. I too have the latest update on my MacBook Pro 16" with M1. I applied a simple circular mask with Gaussian blur, and it just stays stuck at "progress". The bar gets to completely full, then just sits there indefinitely.

I just found a solution to this - I saw on a Reddit thread, tested it, it worked - Take the clip in question, edit the speed, then return it to normal - I changed the speed to 200%, then changed it right back to 100% - then I re-ran the mask auto-detect tracking, and it worked. It didn't get stuck. Hope this helps.

If it does not work in PPro, consider replacing the clip with an After Effects composition (thus creating a dynamic link between PPro and AE) and do the mask tracking there. It should work natively inside PPro, but if you want to get the work done, this can be a good work around.

Hope this helps.

I am also a M1 Mac user and that seems to be the common denominator for the issue. I would love to see this fixed ASAP

This seems to be a pretty common issue with Apple Silicon Architecture.  I have tried de-selecting, deleting the mask, picking a different frame, manually tracking a mask, tracking a mask one frame at a time, all with varying success.

Using M1 Ultra, 64 GB, etc.

I've posted in different threads, on different forums. The problem has persisted for more than a year for me. Mask tracking is either stuck at 0%, or it's only able to do a few frames before getting stuck. I can't do my work. If you own a machine with Apple Silicon, be very careful. Adobe doesn't care and they don't want your business.

For everyone with this same problem, create an account and comment here so Adobe can properly address it. Google search won't give you anything. Reddit doesn't have anything. Those random hacks, like changing the speed of your clip, work about 1 out of 10 times. I have not been able to do mask tracking for a year. I hope the devs can see this.

Not only is mask tracking not working, I've also noticed some recent "unreliability" with keyframing in general. I'll have 2 keyframes, simple mask movement.... but inbetween those 2 keyframes the mask will jump around, sometimes stay totally static until it hits the next keyframe, do movements that are not programmed and are nowhere between 2 keyframes... it's wild and super frustrating.
