P: There is no image in the preview section of the project

Community-Einsteiger ,

Hello, today, while I was working on a project in Premiere Pro, the preview image suddenly disappeared. In Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, the video preview does not open in the part where the preview screen is located. When I press the space bar, the sound of the video starting is heard, but there is no image. I searched in many places, but I could not find a solution. I deleted it and reinstalled it, it didn't work, I cleared the media cache and it didn't work, I downgraded or upgraded the version and it didn't work either. I tried and many other things but I couldn't find a solution. I am sending the screen recording as an attachment. I would be very happy if you could help me.

(my system properties
i7 13700h
gtx 4060
32 ddr5 ram
1tb ssd
The video I was working on was a very simple edit, so I don't think it was caused by a system freeze.)

Hello all, this is Thomas from Adobe engineering team. We've been investigating the issue and I’d like to share an update.

In Summary, many of you began experiencing preview issues, where audio plays but no image is displayed, after certain OS or driver updates. This problem affects both After Effects (AE) and Premiere Pro (PPro), and reverting to previous software versions does not resolve it. The issue occurs immediately upon launching the application. If you're encountering a similar issue,

Editing on Premiere Pro and I have edited on this laptop before (Victus).

I put my footage into the Project Panel but when I double click or attempt to drag and drop into the Source Monitor window, it won't play the video visual. The timeline will scroll and the audio will play as normal, but I can't actually see the clip.

I've updated Premiere, I've updated my laptop. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I've restarted both the software and my laptop. I've cleared my media caches. I am out of ideas to try.

Any help is appreciated

If I drage the clip into the timeline it also does not play back the visual in the program monitor. But if I were to export it, it would export as normal and work.

Premiere'i yeni yükledim. Hem Kaynak hem de Program pencereleri boş ve medyayı göstermiyor, ancak tam ekranda gösterildiğinde gösteriliyor.

As @jamieclarke  has commented, there is a known problem with display on HP Victus laptops. Read through the post from Thomas Yang explaining things to follow to try to resolve the issue.
I am not sure if Adobe have any updates on this issue yet ?

I just installed a fresh copy of Adobe Premiere, (Version 25.3.0 Build 84) and it's not playing/display any video files in the Program Monitor or Source monitor.

The clips also don't scrub through when I mouse over them in the project bin.

My specs are:

HP Victus 16-r0073cl

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700HX (2.10 GHz)

32 GB DDR5

Geforce RTX 4060

Windows 11 Home 24H2

Here's all the things I've tried that haven't worked:

Updating Studio Drivers for graphics card (And doing a clean install)

Updating Gaming Drivers for graphics card (and doing a clean install)

Running Windows Update and intalling all updates.

Disabling GPU Accelration UI Rendering

Setting the GPU preference to only use the GPU or CPU in graphics settings,  especially for Premiere.

Setting Audio Hardware default setting to None.

Disabling /Enabling all options in H264/HEVC Hardware acceleration

Changing the video rendering playback in Project settings to Mercury Cuda or Mercury OpenCl.

Any ideas of what I can do? I'm really frustrated here.

If you read through the entire thread one user escalated this to HP who helped update his BIOS on his machine

Did you look to see if you could update your BIOS ?.

HP may have made some recent changes

FOR ONLY HP VICTUS 16 USER

First of all you need to check if your Victus 16 has installed OMEN HUB and check if there is "Graphics Switcher" section.

WARNING:  Not all HP device have it. In that case, verify if there is an option through the BIOS/UEFI of your laptop.

SOLUTION: After checking if there is that section, turn on the "Discrete" voice and then restart PC.

the problem should be fixed.

("Discrete mode" = your device unable the Integrated Graphic Card, and use only the dedicated GPU.  With "Hybrid mode" enabled PC uses both the graphics card, and this could create conflicts)

This is the only solution it really works.

(remember to check battery level when you using PC without charger plugged in, because the GPU will consume more energy!).

AKTUELL

i defy anyone to help me with this issue...

Premiere Pro v25, up to date—running on an HP for Gaming Victus 15. Just knocked the RAM up from 16 to 32. Everything else CPU and GPU has been left as was purchased, except the NVIDIA studio drivers i installed. Local drive has got about 100GB free.

Bios test and all that jazz tell me the RAM is correctly installed. I think I notice a difference? Maybe the jump is not as earth shattering as I was build up to believe. RAM brand is Crucial. They any good? I know dick about CPU hardware so forgive my computer illiteracy if straight out of the gate my problem was buying from the KMART of additional hardware.

Project file and media is running off Crucial X10 1TB SSD—media cache files are stored on there. Premiere is installed and run off the local drive. Media cache

The lag includes the bottlenecking of Not Responding and incredibly delayed scrubbing and dragging on the timeline. 2-3 minute waits between making adjustments on the TL. Admittedly, various subsequences and nest sequences compartmentalised onto a main timeline with FX enabled.

So this is where the anomalies begin. All my media is just sound. Yes, I’m using this video editing software to compose audio files.  I find it easier than using Audition.

I’ve prioritised the ram for Premiere, made sure its running on Mercury, cleared out any preexisting cache, all the Social Media remedies—Still operates like it’s running off 16GB.

I’d gladly accept “Hey, that laptop’s just not cutting it” but I figured because it’s exclusively an audio project—people maybe have a different idea as to how to fix the issue.
