P: Font size changes when editing in Text panel

Community Beginner ,
Jun 30, 2025 Jun 30, 2025

When I edit a caption, the font is smaller than the size of the font in the text workspace

This happens every time when I double click on the caption. This did not happen on the last version.

Any solutions?

Hi @amyfeller

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums and thank you for reporting a problem. I think I see what you are referring to. Do you see this text size discrepancy when you double-click to edit if you change the text size or make it smaller with the 'Change the font size' slider at the bottom right corner of the Text panel?

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani

Hi Dani!

Thanks for the reply. So interesting, the font size slider is at it's largest when I edit. When I slid it halfway and made the font smaller, the "edit font" is that size. however when I slide it back to largest, it's still the smaller size. Again, this was not a problem until recently.

@amyfeller,

Upvoted.

This was reported by @hellopaul4 as a bug in the Beta version 25.4.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta-bugs/text-in-captions-panel-gets-smaller-when-editi...

I just tested and confirm that it is present in PR release 25.3.0. It is still present in the current Beta 25.4.0.71. It was not present in release 25.2.3.

As you noted, with the font size slider in the small or mid-size position, the edit text is the same size. When the slider is set to the largest size, the edit text is small.

After recent update, on the text window, when you double click on a subtile the font size is too small specially if you increase font size to max. The two font sizes should be at least similar to avoid switching between two very different font sizes. It´s not good for your eyes, in my opinion.Untitled2.jpg

I struggle reading small text, so I have to use the largest font size in the 'Text' panel. However, when I double-click into the transcript or captions block, the font size changes to a smaller size.

This is also frustrating as the words jump about due to the size change, ie: I double click on the word I want to edit and it moves to a different position on screen when the font size changes and I have to scan the sentence again to find it.

Thank you for your feedback!

This has recently been improved - you can e.g. try it on the latest beta version.
The font size of the input should now again match the one of the display text.
Best regards,
 Alexander

Thanks for your quick reply!

This issue has been present in the past few versions (main releases) of PP. When will the fix (currently only in Beta) be released?

@Wave Digital Arts,

I can confirm this is fixed in the Beta.

Here's the bug report where it was reported in PR 25.3.0:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/font-size-of-captions-changes-while-editing/idi-p/1...

It was okay in 25.2.3. Unfortunately, it did not get fixed in the new 25.4.0.

@Alexander_DVA,

I noticed some edit boxes being too small to show all the text, and was reminded of this post:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/when-editing-caption-transcript-the-box-is-s...

It might have been improved, but still makes editing awkward.

Thanks for confirming! Do you know when this beta version will go to general release?

Apologies for the duplicate bug report – that other thread didn't come up when I searched for the issue.

Is anyone else getting this obvious bug?
Every time I go to edit the text in the Transcript window, upon selecting the text, it all shrinks in font size.

After exiting edit mode, it goes back to regular size. I have the font size slider all the way to the right.

See attached screen recording.

Yes this is still an issue for me since I last reported it.

FYI, it is not fixed in 25.5. The largest text in display appears as the middle size text when being edited. This is fully fixed in the Beta, as noted.
