Welcome to the Premiere Pro Community Digest taking a look back at May 2023. We begin with the community news, and then we can get down to our usual features. I'll let you know about some new things happening with Premiere Pro Beta and the latest version of Premiere Pro, 23.4!
News from the Premiere Pro community!
Welcome back to the Premiere Pro community digest. New here? Then I should tell you that this is the monthly newsletter for the Premiere Pro community. Here are some of the events that happened in May 2023.
Adobe at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival
Adobe and Variety co-hosted a panel called "New Gen Voices in Filmmaking" at the American Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival on May 20.
The panel featured Amy White, the global head of corporate social responsibility at Adobe and executive director of the Adobe Foundation, along with Dr. Stacy Smith, founder of the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. Filmmakers Yupeng He, Katie Blair, Shafagh Abosaba, and Maryam Mahdye also joined the discussion.
The panel explored the impact of young, diverse filmmakers on the Cannes Film Festival, including how their heritage influences their projects and the challenges they face. The conversation also touched on the role of technology in film production and ways for individuals from disadvantaged communities to break into the industry.
See a short reel of the presentation here. A blog post was written about the launch of the study here.

Adobe Video and Audio Community Mixers
In our continuing efforts to engage with the community, Team Adobe is doing a series of in-person meetups in several cities over the next month. The first Adobe Video and Audio Community Mixers were held in May in San Francisco, Seattle, and Atlanta. One was also held on June 1 in Nashville. These featured the talented Jason Levine, who demonstrates the latest versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects, Overall, the events so far were a great success.
Feedback for the first mixers was really positive and very clear: people were glad to get out of the house, meet others in the community, chat, talk shop, and share a drink and some tasty food.
Here are registration links to the upcoming events. Will keep you posted as we add more. Let me know if you have questions and thanks as always. Hope to see you on the road!

Are there issues with any of your projects?
Check the list of known issues to see if the issue is known. Here are some of the current known issues.
Issue: When transcribed clips in a timeline are taken offline and relinked, clips shift and reset to the first frame. Effects, transitions, and speed changes can also be removed or impacted.
Workaround: If you get the media relinking dialog in 23.4 and have previously used transcription, close and don't save the project. Make a backup of your project file to be safe, and use one of these options:
Issue: Certain custom keyboard shortcuts reset to their default value on the first launch after updating to 23.4 or on the next launch after customization when using 23.4.
Workaround: We'll let you know when a fix is available. But if you're experiencing this issue, use one of these options:
If you need assistance addressing any of these known issues, please create a new post. The community will assist you.
NEW! Troubleshooting using "Safe Mode": You can now press any key on launch to perform key troubleshooting steps from the new Reset Options dialog box (sometimes referred to as "Safe Mode"), like resetting preferences, removing media cache, reset plug-in loading cache, and temporarily disabling third-party plug-ins. It's a great first step in triaging your own issues related to Premiere Pro.
Bug fixes in the release are listed here. Thanks to the team, who provided an extensive list of those issues that are fixed.
