Now that the Forums speed problem is solved for me, I'll ask a question I meant to ask since we changed to the Jive Forums. My post count was reset to zero when we switched to Jive" Clearspace. Is there a way for the Admins of these Forums to "recover" my real post count since 2002?I remember, I changed my screen name at that time to ReneG, would it have cause that?
OK, did the Poles flip, and I missed it? Was there an alignment of some planets, or something?I will not bore you with Adobe I.D. changes, or missing Log-Out buttons, as they have been covered in other threads. With those "changes" elsewhere, I have observed two oddities with the new, maintained forum. While typing, hard returns will be added at random. Also, the Block Quote works seldom, and one often has to try it several times, with deletions and pastes.During the course of last night (11-16-09) I also lost all but one Adobe registration - about 20+ going back decades. I assume that they are still around, though do not know where. Check yours. Are they all still in place? Filed a case with Adobe, and I expect all to be found. Still, something to worry about, if one had some issue. Check this out on your profile.Good luck, and hope that things sort completely and settle down.Hunt
Hey there. For some reason, the name that I use on the forums changed from my desired name (Steve Patterson) to my forum handle (TimeRemapper).I didn't make that change, and I was wondering why that happened. Any ideas?
I do not understand what is going on over here. These are long time people. Who are you that is doing this? It can't be the Adobe I know and love.
Since the origninal post is locked, here are some remarks about the offered work arounds, plus some additional remarks:The stupid carriage returns are left in this message.Work around # 4 does not work, on the contrary, it makes it worse, often duplicating the code.Issue # 8 also applies to BMP and attach does not work, it gives the same error.Missing is that the 'Go to original message' works unreliably, if at all.The HTML view is effectively rendered useless with all the inserted code.
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/529918?tstart=0 and http://forums.adobe.com/thread/529916?tstart=0It should be self explanatory, but in essence the crappy Jives software prevents me from posting. Finally managed it by copy/paste from a TXT file and reapplying the formatting. So disregard for immediate action, but I would like to know how we can post from RTF files or other formats than plain TXT files.
Trying to post here consistently Crashes Firefox 3.01 on Win XP, fyi.Crashes when this Rich Text Editor tries to load, or so it seems.
I read the forums in Thunderbird and last week I began getting lots of duplicate messages. Not all but most messages are appearing twice in my email reader but I've not seen anyone else report this. Is it because I'm the only one using Thunderbird?
Today I noticed in the Bridge and Photoshop forum that my first line of a response does a carriage return about a quarter the way across the page. The first few times I thought I inadvertently hit the enter key. But after it happened each time I decided that was not the case.Has anyone else experienced this?It did not happen on this Forum.Damm, had to retype as it gave me an error message on posting.Tripple damm, this is the 3rd attempt, "unexplained error has occured", but still logged in. But did a copy before posting and then paste this time.
I'm guessing the answer is "you don't"?Forum comments I'm subscribed to, Testing I'm not. Receiving Testing notifications though.
I have noticed that when you tick Reply and the window opens, the cursor is blinking in the message body box right away, so you can just start writing.Until quite recently, you had to click there to get it out of the heading box.
My Preference is That I prefer to use my real Name as opposed to hiding behind my UserName. If I type something that either no good / or good I also want them to know who did it. And also I want my email address availble as well. I know how to take measures against spam and Phishing. When originally set up we could go into Profile prefeences and choose to allow name and email address. We still can the problem is it doesn't stick. My understanding from JVD (I am not quoting him), is this new upgrade caused everyone's account to use Username, and though you can go in and set. When a certain server kicks (I suppose after you have quit Session then come back to read again) That it defaults back.Is this a Bug? Or is this a new policy. IF a Bug, I'd like it fixed. It my account and I'd like to customize it any way I want to.
Lately I’ve noticed images scaled up in forum comments and 8-bit masks for scaled PNGs don’t work in Safari or Firefox. Clearly Adobe’s usual bang-up job of “improving” software is now being applied to the already crappy forums.[edited for content] Message was edited by jochemd
I'm all messed up:
As described in another thread, after the recent changes my identity was changed without my intervention and without any re login to Claudio_González, a change that had several other side effects. I saw this in all three browsers that I have easily available: Safari/Vista, Explorer/Vista and Firefox/Mac. The problem disappeared by itself in the two latter browsers, and it was difficult to solve in the first, where I finally managed to login correctly at around 12:30 today (all times local, GTM-4). However, when I used my bookmark at about 16:10 to get into this forum using Safari, I found that I had been logged out, but I was -and still am- logged if I come in using Explorer or Firefox.I did check the Remember Me button when I finally managed to log in correctly in Safari, and my computer date shows as November 18, 2009 (not 2039). I opened and closed Safari several times in these less than four hours, coming in and out of these forums, same as I did with the other two browsers, so the
Hello, I'm an air ambulance pilot and I'm donating several desktop pcs to a rural school in a mountainous province in the Philippines. I bought them by bulk in Hong Kong and some of them are low end. I was wondering what version of adobe reader works well with low end pcs? The latest versions make the low end pcs crawl in performance.
In the latest reincarnation, after days of lousy response, inserting returns in lines on it's own volition, it also inserts a lot of crap in quotes, it no longer allows the upload of images that were allowed a few days ago, but are not longer accepted, the insertion of God knows how much crap in the HTML code, this looks like a major catastrophe. Not only user names were modified, sometimes beyond recognition, threads disappeared, the search function that does anything BUT search, but not being able to post normal content and screenshots is a major handicap.Adobe, get your act together and get us some forum software that works!
About some of the new problems in these forums, Jochem wrote in another thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2399480#2399480)I figured out what is going on. As soon as you log in your profile settings are partially reset. At the very least your "Last Name" is set to "Hide", not sure which other profile settings are reset when you log in.As for me one of the main problems is that I was given a new identity, I decided to give this a try. Therefore, I used the "Sign out" button of the top row, logged in again using my normal ID and password, and found that apparently there had been no change in the forums. The only apparent change was that I am now welcomed as "Claudio González" in the rop row, but I am still logged in as "Claudio_González" in here:As reported in other threads, the information in my new profile is wrong, and I don't know if, once these new problems get solved -if they ever do- the data such as posts count of this new identity will be merged in my old, normal identity.
A thread on this error has just been closed because it degraded into a childish "Mac vs PC" fight. Also, many persons experiencing this error had been reporting the same observations over and over again. For the benefit of all those wanting to report anything on Error 404, I am quoting the following excerpt from this message of the locked thread, http://forums.adobe.com/message/2276574#2276574:The answer to the original question about 404 errors has been given along time ago, but I'll repeat it here for you:Jive bug CS-12987 'jsessionids printed in the middle of "Last Post" linkwhen anonymous browsing turned on' was fixed in ClearSpace release 2.5.13.Please report the issue again if you continue to experience this afterAdobe has been upgraded to ClearSpace 2.5.13 or later. As the bug was fixed "a long time ago" and we are still using version 2.5.7 of ClearSpace -as can be read at the bottom of the page- please refrain from reporting 404 errors until the upgrade comes. Thank you for your
Somehow I ended up with two accounts. Can I merge the two together so my question show up under one name?
Well, around the maintenance stoppage and slowdowns, all the rest was fine this morning. Now, I have become someone else. I only have 4 posts now, instead of the 12,500 that I had this morning. I have lost my salamis and also 6,500 points. My avatar is gone, my screen name is gone - regardless of what my Profile says, and my e-mail address, while valid, has changed in my Profile.Man am I confused. I don't even know who I am anymore.I guess that it's time to contact Adobe and try to get all accounts consolidated - again. It worked last time, but who knows what it will take this time around.Hunt
I have always asked for scheduled maintenances to be announced, and I am very happy when they are but, is this announcement still necessary?
None of the two ways that I know of going to the last message in a thread is working for me in this one:http://forums.adobe.com/message/2377563?tstart=0#2377563I have tried in Firefox/Mac and in Safari/Vista.
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2364020#2364020Maybe it is an innocent topic; maybe not. Perhaps a moderator may want to review or keep a closer eye on it.With identity theft such a serious matter, I wonder why this topic exists and why some of our more helpful posters turned off their 'suspicious activity filter' to offer help in discovering information that was not supposed to be discovered.(I tried to click the 'report abuse' link for the entire thread but after submitting the comment describing the abuse, the following error is returned: "An unexpected error has occurred")
Hello,i tried today to post a reply to someone`s message t the forums but when i tried to attach 2 .php files i get unexpected error message and prevented me from posting the reply.but when i delete or reloaded the page, i shows me an error message again, but the reply was posted without letting me know!hope you can find a quick fix for that!__Best RegardsWaleed Barakat[signature deleted by host]
