Video Hardware

So I'm wondering if I should get a better CPU and lesser GPU or a better GPU and lesser cpu.More specifically the i7 6950x has 10 cores and is about $1,700 and a 1080ti video card for about $500. For around the same price I can get an I-9 9900k and a 2080ti. Which scenario do you think would be better for editing with Adobe premiere and rendering and maybe even after effects? and if you do have a suggestion I would love your explanation so I could be educated by your perspective. The i9 has the best thread performance but I keep hearing that Adobe premiere does great with 10 cores. I want to have as few bottlenecks as possible in rendering and scrubbing and adding effects and previewing full res. In either case I assume I'll get 64 gigs of RAM and use m.2. I'm also getting into doing some gigapixel 360 panorama tours using a totally different software suite and I like to use Adobe Photoshop and illustrator and would like to be more creative with the other programs Adobe offers.

I have a budget of $3K give or take a couple hundred which includes tax.I keep thinking I want a RTX 2080 ti and i9 9900. But, I keep hearing that it's better to have a better CPU.My old system has an m.2 card I'll probably bring over. I'll probably want to buy a new one for the main drive.Really, I just need to know what CPU, Video Card, Mobo, and RAM would be best. I'll probably be able to figure out the case, power, drives, and cooling Should I buy a different/better/more core CPU and less expensive GPU? If so, what do you think would be best? I'm building a new system. I could easily buy two 2070 cards for around $300 less than one 2080 ti. And the two 2070 cards would give me 16GB VRAM instead of 11. Do you think Premiere and other adobe programs would run better with the one 2080 ti or the two 2070 cards? Can someone confirm their GPU works well in Mojave in regards to Premiere, 4K editing, Lumetri effects etc. I have a 5,1 Mac Pro, upgraded a lot, working in High Sierra. My Titan GPU does not work well when effects come into the picture in Premiere and AE. I know for sure that my current GPU will not work with Mojave and I'm willing to spend some money to upgrade but I would like to hear from an editor that their specific setup is functioning.

Hello, I am looking for advice... I am looking to purchase a wacom mobile studio pro, 13" or 16"(haven't decided on size yet) and also the Adobe membership for $52.99/mo. The Wacom 13" has an i7, 256gb, 8gb ram and an i7, 512gb, 16gb ram that I'm considering. The 16" has an i5, 256gb, 8gb ram and an i7, 512gb, 16gb ram. I'm trying to figure out my best option for use with the Adobe programs and Flash. (Really, best and doable options because I'm trying to not get too far into debt as I'd be financing the Wacom.) I do graphic art, drawing, fine art drawings and paintings, tshit-s design, book illustration (most all of this for print), script writing and storyboarding, some 2d animation or games (on flash, but would love to try out 3d one day). I am confused about purchasing a good Graphics Card to use with Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom.  The YouTube & Google links mainly speak of GPU's for Gaming. Im not interested in Gaming. I recently purchased a CUK ROG Strix Scar GL703GE Gamers Notebook (Intel Core i7-8750H, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 500GB NVMe SSD + 1TB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 17.3" FHD 120Hz, Windows 10) Gaming Laptop Computer   hoping for improved performance with Illustrator and future support of Premiere. However, I have been surprised that it has not been achieved. What do you really need as far as a graphics card to optimize for Illustrator and Premiere performance?

HelloI know that this topic might be already on the table for many times but I'm really in trouble with my computer and premiere pro. The playback is very choppy although I'm already using proxy files (1280x720). When I press the playback button it all starts smooth but after 3-4 seconds it gets choppy and another 3seconds later it seems that 90% of frames being dropped. I know my computer is not the strongest. I'm going to purchase a storage to be used as cache only, and I'm wondering what would make more sense: more focus on sequential write or burst write?So in what "pattern" is the cache data written? Many small chunks all the time, or rather one big at once? How does Adobe exactly operate in this/handle it? And I'm well aware that it probably doesn't matter as much anyways, but I still want to know it, just out of pure curiosity. So thanks for all replies and answers

I have been using LR Classic CC on a 2011 iMac with only 8 GB of ram and I am creating Raw files with a 45 megapixel camera that size up to 50-70mb.  It takes my Mac to a crawl.  I hear from most folks that 32GB is recommended if I want to upgrade but Apple folks are telling me that for still photos 16GB should be plenty.  I do not do video files and have no plan to.  Is 16GB enough or should I stick to the 32GB I hear is best?Thx Pat

I was tired of being hardware bound by my 4 core, 12GB machine.  So I built a new one using an i9-7960X CPU running 32 cores at 3.5GHz, 128GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro P5000, two M.2 and three "regular" SSD drives.  This should last me a lifetime , and be more than PPCC uses for a while.  But neither PPCC nor Media Encoder seem to use much of the resources.Now with PPCC, my CPU utilization typically runs well below 20%, and on export it typically runs about 20% - 30%, although sometimes on an export it does peg at 100%.  Memory utilization is typically below 10% no matter what.  GPU usage, with CUDA enabled, runs below 3%, always.My goal was real time playback with effects, and reduced export speed.  Between my old and new PC, the export time for a two minute video dropped from 10 hours to 55 minutes, but even at 55 minutes, the PC's resources utilization was low.  The same clip today with a LUT is running at 2 hours, witn 23% CPU, 12% RAM and 1% GPU.On real

I have to recommend specs for a video editing machine to my office. Mainly Premier and After Effects to produce AJ+ style videos. Time is of absolute essence for a media company.I know thus far (through this forum) that these programs can't utilize multi CPU setups, and too many cores are overkill too. So for similar clock speed and core counts (8 core, 4.5Ghz Turbo) will I be better off with W series Xeons or I9s?Price is no consideration, and 32 GB of RAM will probably be enough. Hello!I'm looking for some advice and thoughts on how Adobe Premiere Pro and After Affects perform with recent AMD processors compared to Intel processors. It was my understanding that in the past, Intel was the way to go -- AMD processors apparently lacked certain instruction sets that were useful in Premiere and After Affects?However, in reading some recent threads on this hardware forum, I've gotten the impression that the AMD Ryzen processors -- while perhaps not quite as good as the best Intel processors -- are significantly better than previous generation AMD processors. Generally speaking, can the most recent AMD processors now be used with solid results in Premiere and After Affects? Or is Intel still the way to go?If you have any general guidelines (or thoughts about the latest round of AMD and Intel processors that are in the process of being announced), I would appreciate it! Hi there,I've looked over some of the designs as Puget Systems to get some ideas on a build, but have a few questions.  I was surprised to see them suggesting the GTX 1070 over the 1080, which makes me question some of my other specs I was planning.  I have the hard drives (2 SSDs and an m.2 drive), the case (Phanteks full tower), PSU, and motherboard (Asus Prime X299 Deluxe), so I would like to build a system with those components rather than a pre-built system.We shoot 4K and edit HD as well as 4K (h.264 from GH5), but often use low-res proxies.  I have no plans for RED footage.  I use Neat Video noise removal often and color either in Davinci or with Lumetri in Premiere Pro.  We use After Effects as much as Premiere Pro.  We'll be using a simple monitor via hdmi.CPU. I was looking at the i9 7940X, but I saw in a post here that neither Premiere Pro nor AE will utilize it for the money, and suggested the 9900K, which is much cheaper.  I like the idea
