After Effects

I'm trying to recreate this timeline effect, but I can't work out how to make the text/shapes inverted inside of the TV box whilst also moving everything along. Based on the Documentation, I should be able to set the settings on the Output Module by doing: render_queue = engine.adobe.app.project.renderQueue render_item = render_queue.item(1) output_module = render_item.outputModule(1) output_module_data = { "Format": "QuickTime", } output_module.setSettings(output_module_data) print(output_module.getSettings().toSource()) However, when I try to set settings in this way, there is no effect. I saw there's a bug that causes "[the] OutputModule object to be invalidated after the output module setting is modified, so you need to retrieve the Output Module again after you modify it." I tried reselecting, but either way the setting does not seem to be modified. Can anyone help? 

I was having a regular problem where After Effects would freeze up my whole computer when I was switching to File Explorer to find footage to import. The whole screen would freeze, the mouse wouldn't respond, CTRL+ALT+DELETE did nothing and after a few minutes the screen would go white and eventually come back. Even when it did, AE would remain unresponsive and need to be restarted. It turned out there was a really simple solution which can be fixed in the Preferences. In the import section, uncheck "Enable Hardware Accelerated Decoding". It's requires a restart but after that, the problem hasn't reoccurred for me!

Not quite sure how to explain this as I am very new to After Effects so hope this makes sense! I used the rotobrush tool at the beginning of my project to remove the background of a video. It's been working really well until I removed a section of video from later in the project (not sure if this is the actual cause of the problem though) and now the rotobrushed section keeps jolting ahead of the video. Everything I've seen says this could be a problem with the frame rate but I haven't changed anything since it was working and the composition rate seems to be the same as the original.

When I work on a project and I make the rulers visible in the canvas window, if I adjust the height of the bottom timeline/layer window, the canvas will slide to the left in the window as I adjust. If I turn the rulers off, the canvas stays in place as I move the timeline/layers window. It's not a huge issue but a fix would be great considering I adjuist the timeline/layer window as I work.

I have a lot of text layers. I have two expressions working but they're not working together. col = 0;row = index - 1;sl = thisComp.layer("CNTRL").effect("Text Size")("Slider");txt = footage("Use Cases.csv").dataValue([col, row]);text.sourceText.style.setFontSize(sl); So, if this expression ends with the "style.setFontSize" command, then it ignores the text that it pulls from the CSV and defaults to the set sourcetext. But if it ends with "txt" then it pulls in the proper text from the CSV, but I have no control over the Font Size. How can I get these two commands working together?  I've tried all sorts of rearranging. ChatGPT suggested this: USC = text.sourceText instanceof TextDocument ? text.sourceText : new TextDocument("");USC.text = txt;USC = style.setFontSize(sl);USC but I don't know what it's referencing thinking that this is viable. Dragging a file from the Project window and unto the Project window's file viewer/file information area doesnt move the selected file to the top of the hierarchy as it used to do. This was really useful when managing comples project with many files and folders, instead of having to drag a file from a folder all the way to the bottom of the project windows list to be able to drop it at the top of the hierarchy. 

Hi,Not a new problem, but I thought I’d report it now. When the Properties panel is open, dragging keyframes and layers becomes really laggy – especially with text layers. The more properties are shown in the panel, the worse the lag gets. If I close the panel, the lag dissapears immediately. (see attached video)It would be great if this could be fixed someday. I'm at a loss trying to figure out what's happening.  I'm using the latest version of AE (25.3) After Effects has been working fine just last night, then all of a sudden, I noticed opening up dialogue boxes were leading to these black square pop-ups: If I do this while I have a project open, it will often crash, usually without an error message.  Sometimes it will emit a message like this: After Effects error: Crash in progress. I recently updated to the 25.2 version and I'm now having an issue which I never had previosuly with any other version.  I'm using the below. Hardware:Mac Mini M2Apple M2 chip8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores10-core GPU16-core Neural Engine100GB/s memory bandwidthOS: Sequoia 15.5 The issue is when I updated After Effects intially to 25.2 it ran perfectly but when I close down my Mac for the day and restart it th next day and launch After Effects 25.2 I get these issues. (see attached below) So I uninstalled and waited for an updated version 25.2.2. figuring the issue would be resolved but nope. Same issue with 25.2.2. Works after intial install but the next day the same re-occurring issue. I have done every posted possible fixes and always the same outcome, I'm not even able to launch in "Safe Mode" at all.  There is no "Error Log" produced as it doesn't even open the program. Does anyone know why this is happening o

Once I hit the spacebar the sequence keeps playing over and over and won't stop, even when Ihit the space bar or click on other parts of the project panel. I tried updating the application and it stopped for a bit but now it's still happening. Not sure what to else I can do. 

Buenos días, tengo problemas a la hora de aplicar efectos en alguna capa ya sea 2d o 3d. Le aplico a una capa un efecto pero no se ve, es decir modifico los parametros pero no hay cambios en la capa, por ejemplo aplico en una capa 2d efecto de resplandor para simular una luz y no se aplica. Probe descargando versiones anteriores a la de 2025 pero no logro encontrar una solucion. Me esta dificultando mucho ya que me inpide hacer trabajos y me limita a la hora de crear. These are precomps made from 23.976 fps footage. It looks fine at first, but once I restart After Effects, the timing becomes incorrect as shown below.This issue has existed since at least 2023, and likely earlier, but I only started using After Effects in 2022, so I can’t say for sure. Version of the app: 2025.3Platform and OS version: Windows 23H2Basic steps to reproduce the problem: Precomp a 23.976 fps clip in a 60 fps comp, save the project, then restart After Effects.

Why does my PC automatically restart while working in After Effects and Premier Pro?

I urgently need to us After effects 2025 but it will not open. My device meets the requirments to use After effects and all of the other adobe apps I have work fine e.g illustrator,photoshop,Premier pro but one day after effects stopped working. This was nearly 2 months ago The splash screen will load then disapper or The splash screen will glitch and not allow me to close it meaning I have to use task manager to close it - photo of the second outcome attached.  It gives me options to start in safe mode or reset prefernces but none of these options work and I do not have any plugins installed  I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled and even updated to the latest version v25.2.2 However even switching to older versions does not work. Here are my system specs - Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHzInstalled RAM 20.0 GB (19.8 GB usable)System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor I have even tried
