After Effects

How can I slo-mo a single object in AE while the rest of the video is playing at normal speed? Ex. a clip of someone shooting a basketball, the basketball is in slo mo while the player is running at normal speed (and the rest of the video)Thanks!

Software: Cinema 4D R18 e After Effects cc 2017.1With Cinema 4D I made the car.With After Effects I want to apply a realistic light to the front light.In Cinema 4D, the machine is animated in a null object.Then I created a null object (for the light in After Effects) that I put as a child to the null object of the animation and it follows perfectly the animated path.The problem arises when I use a camera.If I do not use any camera, when I open the .c4d project in After Effects, the null object follows perfectly the center of the front light.If instead I use a camera, the null object is not at the center of the lighthouse and does not follow the animation perfectly, why?How can I fix it? I absolutely need to use the camera. Thank you.

Everything works as it should, until I decided to render something. While rendering in After Effects, a window or something is opened somewhere and it makes all scripts useless, they do not respond to user input at all, and that's fine to me. It works the same for all scripts that I tested.The real problem is with event listeners. Scripts that use them will generate a background error if any listener is activated. I want to create a video that has a still image and sound (dialog). I want to key over a sound waveform of the dialog to give the still image some motion. Does After Effects have this ability?

After Effects and all Adobe products crash when opening Windows File Explorer within the program.This only happens on my account, when I go to an Admin account it works fine.  This crash happens across two different computers as well.Basically I can use the program without issue until it needs to open up Windows File Explorer and it will instantly crash.  I can drag files from a windows file explorer window that was opened up outside of the app without issue but I can't save or export anything since those actions require opening it within the app.  It's made working in adobe impossible to do.  Adobe has sat on my computer for multiple hours now and not been able to solve it.  Hoping someone here can help because they just closed the ticket without an answer.I attached a log of the recent crash.I have removed all plugins, cleared perferences, uninstalled everything.  This problem happens over two computers using ANY adobe apps and versions.my main version i

First of all, I'm running AE 2025 on a Macbook Pro M3 Max, Sonoma 14.5.Having a  frustrating issue where by the cursor or tool often flickers while trying to target a certain part of the UI. Eg. Simply trying to drag out a layer length means the tools change between cursos / extend layer tool, which takes a few attempts to grab it with the right tool It's difficult to pintpoint what could be causing it and sometimes seems worse than others, but maybe this is just dependant on the task I'm doing (eg. drawing masks is particularly frustrating) Some videos here here I dont think this is a new problem and have noticed it on previous versions, but have been trying to live with it. Thanks for any help 

Both Skew and Motion4 do not open. I reinstalled AE 2024 and they work. The extensions manager shows compatibility with 2025. I have no issues with Mister Horse Animation Composer 3. Anyone else? Thanks

When I try and edit/create text layers, the text input is painfully slow. I will type, and nothing will appear in the text box, or in the text layer in the composition panel. So it is not receiving the input for some reason. Text in Premiere works completely normal. Is this a bug?  I have tried the "reset character" fix from other posts, and this doesn't work. It's definitely an issue with the actual input/reception of text information.  Mac Studio Ultra128GB RAM AE 22.5.0

Experts 😉I have run into an issue, I have several video clips that I am using in an AE project, the ones that are animations (renderings) are smooth and play like cream.  When I include them in the AE project and send to Media Encoder, they become choppy and laggy.   Not all video clips do this.  The ones shot from a camera do not do this, only the renderings.  I have tried to run the animations thru ME on their own and every format results in choppiness.  I do not know what I am missing.    Thanks in advance

 This behavior makes me crazy every time I use AE. Why does the render setting randomly set to Software only? When the performance is getting slow, most of the time, this is the cause of that situation. Because of this problem, I can't work with the confidence that everything is perfectly set up. How can I get rid of this problem?

My pen tool is stuck on add vertex. I can change it to remove vertex, but not the default pen option or convert vertex, or mask feather. This was happening in 23.2. I updated to 25.1 but the problem persists. I have tried the fix detailed in an old post relating to the same problem in version 16.1.3 - https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/the-pen-tool-is-stuck-on-add-vertex-tool-in-ae-16-1-3-build-5/m-p/10618330#M92310 - but this has not worked. Grateful for any solution - this is a pretty serious problem for the paricular work I need to do.

Create vortex like patterns with an old plugin.   Follow along with my investigation into reproducing an amazing visual effect that does not seem possible in After Effects. Thanks to some insights from X user AECartographer and a handy guide from Texturelabs I was able to animate Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night.   Using the old, hidden plugin CC Time Blend FX and Vector Blur with a precomp with plenty of circular gradients, I found it was possible to make all the swirls and brush work slowly spin in place. With no keyframes or expressions needed, you can add animation to any picture or image with lots of circular patterns. At the start of the video, I explain what Curl Noise is, and then I run through how to activate CC Time Blend FX. Then I go on to demonstrate how to use Time Blend FX for other animation. Hi,Is there any way I can keep a layer fixed/frozen in the timeline panel? I mean I want it to be the first and fixed so that if I create any new layer (Be solid, text, or anything, rigging controller) it will be automatically positioned below that fixed layer. Is it possible in AE? in (Attached image) I want the marker to be fixed as layer number 1. I don't want it to go down or shift its position every time I create another shape layer/text layer or produce a rigging controller/s. I want them all to stay beneath that marker layer Automatically.. Is it too far-fetched? Thank you.

Hi all, I'm working on a visualizer for a podcast. I want to set it so that each speaker's picture only appears when they're speaking. This is the expression I'm using on the opacity of the picture, which references the audio keyframes: speaker1 = thisComp.layer("speaker1").effect("Both Channels")("Slider"); if ( speaker1 >= 1 ) { 100; } else { 0; } This is working as it should, but the issue is the image flickers on and off for things like pauses between words, and breaks in laughs. In addition I feel like the animation would be more visually smooth if the picture lingered for a moment instead of turning off immediately when the speaking stops. Is there a way I can add some kind of condition instead of the else statement here? Something like, if speaker1 < 1 and has been so for at least 20 frames, then the opacity = 0. I'm fairly new to expressions so I don't quite know where to start. Thank you.

I want to change the size of a rectangle width wise from the anchor point I've set (from the left). Not 'scale' but the size property in a rectangle path. I know I can do this with scale property, but this squashed the stroke. The only work around I've seen is, using this in the anchor point expression:w = content("Rectangle 1").content("Rectangle Path 1").size[0]; h = content("Rectangle 1").content("Rectangle Path 1").size[1]; [w/-2, h/-2] Is there an easier alternative to this? or am I doing this wrong?Also shouldn't this be the default expected behaviour when setting an anchor point and scaling?
