After Effects

I take the file and try to drop it onto the timeline, but nothing works.

Gradient fill doesn't work for me. I tried radial gradient and Linear. I am trying to add a gradient for the shadow of this door, but it only puts black and does not have a gradient.I also tried on other shapes and it does the same thing. How do I fix this?

Maya to AE 2024 is needed as an update ... why is this taking so long?My workflow is messed up without this update. Any idea when this will get done?

I am importing a PS file into AE but the images don't appear and are black. The PS file is RGB and I can see the files as PS files in AE but thet still won't appear and are black. t is a layered file that I want to animate but can't do anything as I cannot see the images. 

pls help i cant render anything in mp4 anymore idk why, i was really stressing cause i use this everyday so someone pls help, i tried with like 3 different projects, i deleted and reinstalled after effects altready and its always at 2% and than it chrashes, im scared i have a virus. Can you get virussus on After Effects??? Im scared cause it my school laptop. Thank you for your help in advance

hi, I have a problem with anchor points when working with text, it seems to be attached not to the text but to the composition, and when zooming in or out, the anchor point does not remain fixed relative to the text layer, but remains in place relative to the composition

Hi,I'm working on a project with many variable typefaces, I'm trying to showcase their ability to change and  to adapt by animating them through their axis of variability.How would you suggest I can key frame the typeface from one extreme of variability to another? Right now all I can do is move the slider and screen record in illustrator, as only illustrator and photoshop are capable of adjusting variable typefaces. Any tips or advice? If I hypothetically had a video of a friend beating another friend with a large yellow pool noodle, because hypothetically we're planning on filming an absolutely ridiculus skit, and hypothetically we wanted a giant french fry but we didn't have one, and I hypothetically had access to adobe after effects, how would I hypothetically go about turning the yellow pool noodle into a giant french fry with vfx? Don't judge, remember, it's all 100% hypothetical.

So, I've created a long stroke with many path points which draw the stroke up and down. (Like a heartbeat EQ)I then(using the Create Nulls from Paths tool in Ae) applied the 'Points follow Nulls'This turns every path point into a Null controller.Switching all of this to 3D allows you to space out the Nulls and create a 3d like stroke.I spaced out each milestone around 500pixels in Z apart.Now, you simply add a trim path and as expected it can trim this 3d path from 0-100. Great!However, my problem is that as soon as you create a 3d camera, and you move to target each of these milestone points, the Trim Path gets affected too, thus throwing it out completely!Anyone have a solve for this?I imagine it might be the likes of connecting the Nulls to the camera somehow.

Hey all!I use DaVinci to colour and edit and I am looking to add some more effects within AE.   I primarily use a MacBook Pro to edit.  I have rendered my DaVinci project as a Premiere XML then saved the Premiere file so I could load to after effects.  For some reason both Premiere and AE does not recognize when I have layered multiple clips on top of eahother.  It ends up blacking out what ever clip is underneath.  does anyone know what I can do to make Premiere/AE respect the layers and play them all together?

The experience has been nothing short of infuriating, and I feel compelled to bring this to your attention.

I'm trying to edit a video for one of my friends, but I'm having trouble with one of my null objects. Every transition I have created thus far is linked to each other via null objects. For some reason, my most recent null layer is causing me a load of trouble - it's causing all my previous clips to scale unwantedly. Can you please help? I'd greatly appreciate it.  I've attached a video showing my existing problem; as you can see, Layer 12 is causing my clips to zoom in, and when I reset the Position and Scale values, everything goes back to normal. (Please exclude the noise included in the video, I was watching a YouTube video)

Hi Community. I have applied a gradient to my animating circle using trim path animation.The gradient has 4 colours, the 2 middle ones are exactly at 50% so they dont cause a smooth transition, I wanted a hard gradient stop, thats why they're at 50%. When the animation starts, instead of seeing just blue to green, I can see some transitioning gradient happening in between the colours.  Also, is there anyway of converting a PSD file into a Path, so I can apply trim paths? Thank you. https://streamable.com/qifwid

Let it be know that I know the bare minimum of AE, in only started to explore it when I learned that it can Import my repetitive work, which is replacing text. In my PP i make new video's on a daily basis and I need to update about 160 text fields. Now thank this this great video tutorial:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoXAmsjJoc4&t=283s I know how to populate the text fields thought the CSV. I added a data-row slider as instructed and linked that to the text field. Then I saved as .mogrt and imported in PP. Everything works perfectly as inteded!  - as long as I stick to the original .csv data that was used in the AE file. When imported in PP it has a "drag-and-drop-insert-csv-field" to change the dataset, but whatever I do, It doesnt update the data. It stays linked to the original CSV data. (in the video linked about you'll see people in the comments with the exact same issue) Also tried some files somewhere from a Adobe repository that does ex

Hey guys, im assuming I accidently clicked something and now my timeline has disappeared (in after effects). I was almost done with my video which has a deadline, and suddenly Im encountering disappearance of timeline. Instead of the timeline, I'm getting something like a graph. Pls help if anyone knows how to fix this.

whenever i press enter to start a new line in after effects, instead of starting a new line underneath the previous line, it starts the new line in the centre of the previous line, overlapping the text. i can only write on one line. ive treid all the shortcuts people have suggested and i have reset my character panel. i cant find any solution online

After effects does not recognise GPU <15796> <AEBlitSurface> <5> initialized with no device.<15796> <ae.blitpipe> <2> no compatible GPU device found, falling back to CPU  

Same for me.Usually, my system (Windows 10 / 64 bits) becomes unstable when 4 or 5 Adobe apps (Illustrator, Photoshop, Animate, Acrobat, Flash Builder) are running at the same time with big projects loaded + multiple web browser windows running.With After Effects CC 2019, it becomes unstable right away, even when nothing much is running on the PC, even before loading any project, or working on a very small project (full vector based, small, simple animations).I need to start AE 4 or 5 times before I get a chance to basically open a project and work on it normally.Most of the time, AE doesn't start, or starts and freezes, or the project opens but the comp doesn't show up.And sometimes, an "out of memory" warning pops out, and then I pray that I'll be able to save my work...I tried to adjust memory settings, but it didn't help.I have actually reached a point where I cannot seem to start and use the app anymore... (I've already uninstalled and re-installed it as recently as yesterday.)

Hello, I'm running Adobe After Effects 24.1.0 on a 2019 Mac Pro (Sonoma 14.3.1). I've run into a bug with my wireless Magic Mouse that is clearly tied to macOS Sonoma -- when I click on the mouse in both AfterEffects and the Finder and then release the click, the pointer "jumps" about a quarter of an inch on the screen. So if I'm in AfterEffects and I click to drag an element when I'm organizing files and then release-click, the element can sometimes "jump" into another composition unintentionally. Or if I'm setting a new anchor point with the mouse, the anchor point "jumps" into the wrong position when I release-click. (The same thing occurs in Photoshop). I know this bug is tied to macOS Sonom, but I haven't been able to find a solution in any of the troubleshooting forums I use for Apple bugs. I am making this post with the hopes that another user has encountered this bug and might have a solution. Note: When I use my Wacom tablet and pen, this bug does not exist

How do I resolve this RAM & CPU usage issue?I'm working on a simple VFX project, adding blood to an actor's face.I need to key out the color blue.My RAM & CPU usage shoots through the roof before I add or do anything beyond importing the video file.The video is a 6K braw file that's about 20.6 GBThese are my machine specs. None of the shortcuts works to snap/aling the clips on after effects (video/image or audio)I need to zoom in to see if they are snap"/aligned and if i don't do this it could lead to an empty frame /black frame, this is a lot if time.I/we need something to trust the snap without zooming something like the magnet" on premiere, something trustful" to drag & snap.Please check the video I uploaded there is the error of your program, is also on my youtube channel. juan joseError Snap After Effects
