sorry, i am a beginner  ... i wanted to know if  i can make the opacity of a layer going on and off  (say 10 frames on and 10 frames off) with an expression  ?

Hi. Today I opened After Effects 2020 to make a video but, after I imported the first video and tried to play it with no further modifications, this error popped up: after effects error cached preview needs 2 or more frames to playback.I already tried every solution I could find on the Internet but none worked. I tried to delete and purge the cache, to make sure the timeline was on the full length of the composition, to turn off and on both after effects and the pc, to make the composition a little longer and to pass from 'full' to 'quarter'.Sometimes it would play until a certain length just to start looping and then giving the same error.I also noticed that this occurs with all my projects (so it's not a problem of the single file) and it occurs only with videos but runs alright with pictures.I'm using a Mac with 4 GBs of RAMS, and 2,5 GBs are for after effects (It doesn't let me put more). Hi,I've been using the latest version for a week or so. Just an hour ago, I had an electrical problem and my project went corrupt ( "After Effects Error - Missing data file 33::4" when I try to open it. Can't import it into another project either).So I went for the autosaved versions and... they're not there. Autosave is enabled, set to 20 minutes and "next to project" location. But the most recent files are more than a week old, from when I was using the CC 2018 version. They're not in the default location either.I manually backed up a version yesterday, but I'm going to lose all work I did today.Is there anything I'm missing? Could the files be somewhere else?Thanks

I desperatily need help. A powerful guy is doing some kind of a hacking on my computer to block me from using the best of adobe after effects/premiere features, for him because of my poor origin and appearence i cannot use the program to do good quality videos, even my ancestor (poor worker) was used like a reason, he fears my effort and my talent and is using his power trying to stop me.

Hi, 1. In FCP I loved the shortcut Shift+Z to fit the timeline to the window. I tried to find an equivalent in Ae here and from the internet without success: After Effects keyboard shortcuts reference. Is there a shortcut for this in Ae? If so, what's the name so I can search for it in the Keyboard settings in Ae since I might have changed the shortcut. 2. Same question for moving the WHOLE layer to the playhead. I know the [ + ] but I want the layer to move so the keyframes follow. Thanks/Pär

Cuando abro after effects funciona normal, pero si dejo de trabajar un rato (apenas unos minutos) el programa parece que deja de usar la ram pues ya no genera frames en cache para previcualizacion, no deja exportar el video, e incluso abrir el Mocha se hace imposible, simplemente el Mocha se traba intentando abrirlo, no encuentro solucion a este porblema, pues no sale ningun mensaje de error y el programa sigue funcionando, dejandome mover los clips, cambiando sus parametros de todo como la escala o la posicion, incluso puedo seguir moviendo los efectos, pero en mi pantalla de previsualizacion se queda trabado en el frame en el que haya estado la ultima vez y la linea de tiempo no avanza, y el error se mantiene incluso si cierro y vuelvo a abrir mi proyecto pues al volver a abrirlo si me genera el cache y puedo reporducirlo, pero en cuanto mueva algun parametro de lo que sea, aunque solo mueva un clip un frame adelante o cambie la posicion de algun grafico o cualquier otra cosa vuelve

Hi folks, A have a built a map toolkit in After Affects for Premiere users, it includes a dropdown in the Essential Graphics panel.There are 200+ possible 8 second animations to show. As this is for a broadcaster, I need to make a toolkit for non-Premiere users. That means rendering all the animations from the one comp that was used to make the .mogrt as a series of QuickTime 4444 animations.  What is the most efficient way to do this? Is there a tool designed to do this? I’m looking forward to seeing what you come with!  Cheers, Alex 4D

 Hello!I want to do a flip chart type of animation but the top and bottom part of my text keeps disaligning. is there a way to avoid the in-between space between top and bottom part of the words? Im using masks and 3d to make it flip. Thank you

Hi there, I'm facing a rather strange issue.As part of a job, I have rendered out a 20s composition at 50FPS from Cinema4D.My assumption was that based of 1000F this would be a 20s sequence images.But when imported on AE at 50FPS - the comp is actually more than 30s long.What am I missing here? Any help would be much appreciated!Cheers.S

Hi,does anyone know a quick way of selecting a current composition in Essential Graphics panel.Currently you have to select a comp from a drop down, but when you have a project with tens even hundreds of comps (yeah) going through the dropdown gets tedious.Is there a way to just open the comp I'm currently working on in the timeline?

Hi gang; In the plugin included with After Effects titled CC_Particle_World, the opacity map parameter is a custom parameter where one can 'draw' the opacity over time. I've included a screengrab of it below:  Are there any examples that would show how to create something like this? I know the SDK comes with some UI examples like CCU, ColorGrid and Custom_ECW_UI but I can't even successfully compile these so I can't check them out (I get persistent errors). I have to implement something similar so I was hoping there was some existing sample code that showed how to do something similar to this, or perhaps someone has those UI examples compiled they could send if any of them shows a similar effect? Then at least I'd know which SDK example to study. Any info / help would be appreciated. Thanks,-Richard

Hi,Im fairly new to After Effects but i somehwhat know my way around it and have used expressions before to create dropdown menus in mogrts etc. I'm creating a mogrt for an editor and i have a lower third animating in, it is controlled by 'position' keyframes. However, the length of the lower third will be adjusted depending on the amount of text in the box. So ideally, i would need the 2nd keyframe to be editable in length (it also needs to be capped at a specific max length so it doesnt affect the safe zone of the comp). I need this 2nd keyframe to hold for a duration of roughly 6 seconds until it animates out. I think this can be done using the slider control and perhaps a null layer? I would appreciate if someone could help and provide clear instructions as im fairly new to mogrts and expressions. My layers below:thanks!  

I'm copying text from a Powerpoint presentation in to After Effects.  All goes well with English text from person "A".  But when the same person "A" types Korean from his same computer, that text doesn't appear in After Effects.  Help!

I am trying to auto-trace a logo to make it appear as if it is being etched-out or traced by a laser. I have a vector of the logo, an illustrator file with layers, and a png, but I haven't been able to figure out how to outline it with any of them in after effects. Every time I auto-trace, it just turns my layer into a white box. Do I need to use the pen tool or something? Some hints would be much appreciated!

Hey, I've been having trouble installing my adobe after effects 2020. A few months ago I accidentally deleted my ae, and when I re-downloaded it and tried intalling it again, it gave me error code 21, meaning my OS doesn't meet the system requirements for it to install, but that doesn't make sense because last time I downloaded and installed it with no problem.

I'm replacing a license plate in a shot and am struggling to match the lighting of the new plate to the original clip. The car drives through an area with light comming through trees so there are quick changes to the light hitting the car. If anyone has any advice on how to match the light it would be greatly appreciated. 

I created a motion graphic in 1080x1920 in AE, but when I export this graphic as a Motion Graphics template and import it into Premiere Pro it comes in at 1920x1080.Why is this, and how do i solve it?I have included screenshots of the AE comp settings, as well as the sequence settings in PP and the MOGRT itself on the 1080x1920 sequence in PP.Thanks in advance!Richard

I've got about 22 x 4k R3D files that add up to about 14 minutes of footage. I have sent them over to AE in order to use warp stabilize vfx. Footage is a hand writing on glass and sometimes the glass is slightly bumped. I placed a + on the top right corner of the glass, hoping this would help the process.I have been waiting for hours and I am still getting "Analyzing in Background (Step 1 of 2)". I had used the commands 2372 and 2373 (clear image memory and cache) to reload the frames in my AfterEffects plugin. I had also used command hook to update a floating slider param value which will reload my frames. But now when I'm checking on AfterEffects 2022, the commands 2372, 2373 and the commandhook, all are crash with an "internal verification failure" error. Like I have tried commenting out 2372 and 2373 or commandHook, but the internal verification failure error popup appears for each one of them.For commandHook, I tried to debug the commandHook function that is called, and the error occurred on the last step which was SetstreamValue to update param value. It gave a thread alert.But again, I would like to mention that everything works fine on AfterEffects 2023, be it the commands or commandHook
