Bug Reports

Hello Houston, we have a problem with the Selection Brush Tool's display in Color Theme Light.

Bug Report: Inner Glow and Outer Glow Layer Styles Not Working Properly in After EffectsI am experiencing an issue with the Inner Glow and Outer Glow effects under Layer Styles in After Effects.Issue Description:When I apply either Inner Glow or Outer Glow to a layer, the effect does not produce any visible glow. Instead of creating a soft glowing effect around or inside the object, it simply fills the selected area with the chosen glow color, making it appear as a solid color overlay. Additionally, the Size parameter does not behave as expected. Increasing the Size value should expand or soften the glow effect, but instead it increases the apparent size of the shape itself rather than the glow. As a result, the Layer Styles Inner Glow and Outer Glow effects are unusable because they do not render the expected glow.Expected Behavior:Inner Glow and Outer Glow should create a smooth, feathered glow based on the selected color and blending settings. Increasing the Size value should only a

Every time I start up After Effects I'm getting the 'disc cache full' pop-up box (see screenshot) - yet my cache is empty and my hard drive has space on it. Screenshots showing that my disc cache is set to 92GB and my hard drive has 220GB of free space.

Hi everyone,I'm running the latest version of After Effects and my Composition panel is showing a strange layout — my actual video/composition only appears as a small rectangle in the upper-left area of the panel, while the rest of the panel (from top-right to bottom-left) is solid black/dark gray and shows nothing.Details:Composition panel zoom is set to 25%, Quality is Quarter The small rectangle updates correctly and shows my footage/timeline content The surrounding dark area does not change when I scrub the timeline or switch layers I've attached a screenshot showing the issueAny help is appreciated

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the different versions of after effects and the problem persists, it happened after the most recent updated, I cannot click and drag from the project panel, I cannot click and drag layers through time. The timeline bottom window slider works fine (resetting windows explorer / doing the click and drag esc cache reset does not work / I did a restore image of windows) A fresh project seems fine, when I open a project from an older version I can drag files / move layers for a moment and then it stops - I have a log while in safe mode with all the 3rd party plugins disabled and I can drag them for a moment and then they stop - I have all startup / background tasks (nvidia, epic games, steam ect.) all turned off - it is driving me nuts, I may have to rebuild the project from scratch fresh.

Bug Report: New CEP Extensions Fail to Load — "Unsupported Manifest versionSummaryAny newly-installed CEP extension fails to load in After Effects, regardless of manifest content, signing status, or installation method. Attaching a screen record showing this bug. For some reason AE is adding random opacity knots to my shape layer gradient fills. This happens regardless of whether the gradient has keyframes set or not. This is on AE 26.0 on macOS Tahoe 26.2

See the timeline here:  Any ideas what it might be please? Or anyone else having similar issues? Thanks. Harry

After the latest update the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the timeline is bugged. As soon as you adjust the length of a compostion, the scrollbar glitches out and you can no longer scroll to the end of the composition. Only by adjusting the zoom level of the timeline does the scrollbar then somehow fix itself. Speaking of the timeline zoom, the zoom level will randomly changes to full frame-level zoom when navigating through a comp timeline. Set up is: After Effects 25.5.0 Build 4, Windows 11 Home 24H2 (26100.6584) This same problem happens on two completely separate PC's

I dragged the Warp Stabilizer effect with its parameters set to the Effects & Presets window. Now I want to delete this preset.Right-clicking doesn't give me the delete option, and clicking the Del button doesn't delete the preset either.I'm reporting this as a bug.

Hi there !I’ve been having issues with using transparent Cryptomattes in After effects. Whenever I want to select something that is behind a transparent object with the picker, AE selects the object in the foreground with no way for me to actually pick the one behind. Which makes using cryptomattes with glass objects unusable.Does anyone have any solution for making this work ?Thanks !

CRITICAL BUG in AE 25.5.0 (on OSX) ; rendering of text - placement error - version inconsistency. MAJOR FLAW!Steps to recreate;1. IN AE 2023, AE2024, or AE 2025.2.2 ; Create a TEXT layer which is either CENTER or RIGHT justified. 2. ALIGN that layer to a guide or another object. 3. Open the same AEP file in AE 2025.5.04. Take note of the alignment.(system info at bottom of post)This is a major bug and makes AE 2025.5.0 unreliable for BASIC PRODUCTION TASKS and unsuitable for PROFESSIONAL WORK.See attached images ; NOTE image 4 which shows AE 2025.5.0 with the SAME EXACT FILE, TEXT, and LAYOUT, but in a different, inconsistent layout from all other versions of AE. System info; Apple M1 Ultra, 128 GB, OSX 15.6.1 (24G90) Chipset Model: Apple M1 Ultra  Type: GPU  Bus: Built-In  Total Number of Cores: 64  Vendor: Apple (0x106b)  Metal Support: Metal 3  Displays:DELL S2721QS:  Resolution: 5120 x 2880 (5K/UHD+ - Ultra

I don’t even know how to really describe this bug without a video but, let’s say I have two text layers and I want to do a simple fade in using opacity from 0% to 100% it doesn’t allow me to and selects the wrong layer entirely, it is impossible for me to do a simple fade effect or any effect for that matter using the layer transform. The video will explain everything much better than I can.I am using a macbook pro m5 pro with 64gb of RAM, and 1TB SSD. The new 26.3 update from after effects caused the issues, because before I wasn’t having any issues at all. Please help as it’s become really hard to edit my videos.

I am using Essential Graphics with Text layer and text properties exposed. Exposed properties is text size. In Source Text I have expressionstyle = text.sourceText.getStyleAt(0, time);currentFontSize = style.fontSize;style.setLeading(currentFontSize*2);This expression works when properties are changed in Essential Graphics window. But when same Comp is imported in another composition, this link between FontSize and Leading is broken.

IssueTrapcode parameter names are blank in the Japanese version of After Effects 26.3, causing existing expressions that reference Trapcode properties to fail. This issue is not only a UI problem. Because the property names are unavailable, existing expressions referencing Trapcode properties become invalid, making production projects incompatible with the Japanese version of After Effects 26.3.Steps to reproduce Launch After Effects 26.3 using the Japanese UI. Create a new project. Create a new composition. Add a Solid layer. Apply any Trapcode effect (for example, Particular). Open the Effect Controls panel. Expected resultAll Trapcode parameter names should be displayed correctly, just as they are in After Effects 2025 and in the English version of After Effects 2026.Existing expressions referencing Trapcode properties should continue to work normally.Actual result Parameter names in Trapcode effects are blank. This affects multiple Red Giant / Trapcode effects, not only

Environment:After Effects 2026 26.2.1x2WindowsSteps:1. Set a Render Queue Output Module to TIFF/image sequence.2. Enable "Skip Existing Files".3. Change the Output Module to a movie format where "Skip Existing Files" is disabled in the UI.4. Save the project.5. Run:   aerender -project project.aepExpected:When "Skip Existing Files" is disabled/unavailable in the UI for movie output, it should not remain enabled internally.Actual:aerender logs the following warning:WARNING: 「既存ファイルの省略」は、「シーケンス」タイプの 1 個の出力モジュールを使用する時のみ使用可能です。This suggests that "Skip Existing Files" remains enabled internally even though the UI does not allow changing it for movie output.Impact:This can cause confusion in automated rendering workflows. aerender may return exit code 0 while logging this warning, so render farm systems may treat the job as successful.Workaround:Switch the Output Module back to TIFF/image sequence, uncheck "Skip Existing Files", then switch back to the movie format and save the project. 環境:A

Issue: Keyboard shortcut for “Don’t Save” in the Save Changes dialog no longer works.Steps to reproduce:Make a new empty project, make a new comp, close the project to the trigger the Save Changes dialog. Press command-D to trigger “Don’t Save”.Expected result: Don’t Save should be triggered and the dialog goes away.Actual result:Nothing happens in the save dialog. In the menubar, the Edit menu highlights because it probably thinks I’m triggering the keyboard shortcut for Edit > Duplicate.Adobe After Effects version: 26.2.0, 26.2.1, 26.3.0b53Operating system: MacOS 15.7.5 The shortcut works in AE 25.6.5. Escape (Cancel) and return/numpad-enter (Save) both work correctly. While the dialog is open, opening menus shows that many menu commands are correctly disabled, but many are still actionable and their keyboard shortcuts are still trigger-able—even if none of them do anything other than quickly highlight the menu.

Playback completely non-functional in AE 26.3 (timeline does not advance) — works fine after rollback to 25.6 After Effects: 26.3 (2026)OS: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (build 26200)CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 265K (20 cores)GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (16GB VRAM), driver 32.0.16.1062 (June 11, 2026)RAM: 64GBPremiere Pro runs and plays back normally on the same machine Playback is completely non-functional in After Effects 26.3. Pressing spacebar, clicking the play button in the Preview panel, and using Composition > Preview > Play Current Preview all fail. The timecode does not advance at all — not even a single frame plays. No green/red render bar appears.Manually dragging the playhead updates the composition view correctly, so frame rendering works fine — only the playback engine (time advancement) is dead. The issue reproduces even in a brand-new project with a single solid layer, so it is unrelated to project content, footage, or expressions. Tried (all failed):Reset preferences (C

This was a very persistent bug that is ENRAGING, as it forces me to check EVERY SINGLE FRAME I export. The issue is that After Effects sometimes imports footage incorrectly, with missing, skipped or glitched frames.  I know it's incorrect, because when I click "reload footage" - the issue goes away (but can pop back up after sometimes). I have now upgraded to absolutely specced Macbook Pro, exported natively from After Effects into a ProRes 422HQ mov, bring it back in - and lo and behold - missing frames that flash black (background) in the middle of playback.  How is this issue not fixed, it's beyond me, as it's been years now.  And let's not get me started on how terrible the audio playback is in AE... that's a whole other unfathomable issue, for a company of this scale to no play back audio properly in a product designed for professionals. But honestly, this dropped / scrambled frame issue is SOOOO IMPORTANT to fix. There's no way you should be forcing users to watch eve

Right clicking keyframes on any layer is causing the menu that pops up to stretch across the entire screen and not remain it's normal size. It's showing random text that's in the project within the window that appears after right clicking any keyframes. It also includes random Chinese characters within the pop up window panel. I’ve purged data/cache and restarted. Goes away for a little, then right back.

When tracking is terminates prematurely, there is no way to escape. Mocha has to be forced quit. And more: saved versions are not recovered, only a dialog for opening 'autosaved' versions is popping up.Please repair this - it's almost impossible to work with Mocha for Ae now.

The same scene that took 45 minutes to render in 26.2.1 now takes 2 hours with the same settings, objects and lighting setups. I even made sure Depth of Field is turned off. Also, light objects in the preview tab cause the project to crash. Had to hide them from the preview.
