Captivate

I am experimenting extensively with the 360° functions of Adobe Captivate. During this process I noticed several things to which I would need an answer. 1. Firefox does not want to play 360° slides in the export. Is there a workaround for this, because Chrome and Edge work? 2. If I have multiple 360° video slides in the project, all videos jerk and pause after the first one, while viewing the export. With each additional video it gets worse. Since I use a localhost, it can't be because of lack of data rates. Has somebody made the same experiences? 3. Jumping forward or backward makes sure that no matter which 360° video is played next, it jerks or stalls. Has somebody made the same experiences? 4. It seems as if the smooth playback of the 360° video slides depends enormously on the respective PC, or rather its CPU and RAM. Can you confirm this? 5. Forgive me if this is somewhere else in the community, but I am beyond frustrated with editing closed captions in Captivate. When I edit closed captions, add markers and save, often changes revert back on caption markers I have removed text from or edited. Sometimes markers simply jump around on the timeline such as marker 2 ends up at the end of the timeline including 5 markers for some reason, or other wierd things. I found the only way around this glitch is to save after every edit which is tedious on top of which Captivate may crash as demonstrated in my video below. Worse is that this work-around is not as effective for placing CC on videos embedded into the slide as there is no "save" button. Instead, I edit some captions and hit close and then save the file, open back up the closed captions and find that whole markers are still with the block of text that I had cut appart in editing.  Here's a quick link to what I am encountering: http://somup.com/cYQ3r3

My client wants learners to be able to view the slide notes along with the TOC in the published course - SEPARATE from and IN ADDITION TO the closed captions, which are synced to the audio and toggle on and off with the CC button. I'm attaching an example that was done in Articulate. The TOC and Notes are tabbed so the learner can select either one. How do I do this in Captivate? 

We use Workday as our LMS and Captivate for our projects. Workday saved the question answer, question type, score, and date and time. However, it is not saving the question. I have enabled reporting for my quiz project. I set all the settings applicable for the quiz under Status Representation, Success/Completion Criteria, Data to Report and Advanced. Under Advanced I did check Send Data On Every Slide. Does anyone know what would cause this issue?

Answer found.  it is "branch aware" causing the playbar controls to be deselected.

Hello, I suspect this can be answered by an expert quite quickly. On slide enter I want the custom toc button for each slide to change its state to visited and on exit I want the state to change to completed. I have created my states and put these commands in for the on enter/on exit actions. The state changes to visited on enter, but the state does not change to completed on exit. What am I doing wrong? The slides should remain paused until the user clicks next. I really don't want to have to set up tracking variables like I have had to do for other modules which is incredibly tedious, so I would prefer if this can just be done through state changes and nothing else. I can't see why this wouldn't be possible, so please let me know how this is done.  Thanks, Reuben

What is the recommended project size e.g. 1280x720, if your audience is the general public? If you have a large project (several content areas) what is the recommended file size for an acceptable load time ... In other words, what file size determines if a project should be separated into multiple smaller files rather one large file?

Good afternoon,Working on a course with text entry boxes and using a Smart Shape as a feedback caption that's supposed to come up on top of the text entry box. However, even though it's on the appropriate place on the timeline, the text entry boxes keep coming up on top of the Smart Shape. I've also tried using a Text Caption and get the same result. Any ideas what could be causing this? Pics are below. I'm using Captivate 10/2017 and the Smart Shape shown below is at the top in the timeline. It previews correctly in Captivate, but in HTML5 preview and output shows how you see it below. Thanks in advance for any help!

I've created a Closed Captioning button and have tried two methods to turn it on and off. The problem is, that when clicking the CC button to turn on the CC, it doesn't continue on the next slide. It's as if the the button resets every time. The first method I tried was toggle cpCmndCC. I can turn it on/off while in the slide. But if I toggle on, it toggles off when the user clicks the Next button.The second method was to create and Advanced Action. I did a conditional action: IFcpCmndCC is equal to 0ACTIONToggle cpCmndCCAssign cpCmndCC with 1ELSEToggle cpCmndCC Assign cpCmndCC with 0Am I missing something?

Is it possible to have a popup PDF follow along with a lesson? I would like to have the pdf jump to specific areas in the pdf with each slide next button click. So each time the user clicks the next page button, the pdf would jump to a different part of the pdf with information that relates to that slide.

With the Toc settings it is not possible to select the "seperate" function. What should I do so that the token is displayed separately from the film?

I'm using Captivate 7 and Windows 7 Professional.  I'm using the upload button on the main screen to upload to YouTube but when I enter the user name and password it pops up "Login Failed. Specify the correct user name and password."  I can login to YouTube just fine but not through Captivate.  Anyone else having this issue or know how to correct it?

Hi EveryoneI'm diving back into Captivate after a few years... Is there a way to reposition a simulation?I want to add some explanatory text in a left panel ofa template that is larger than the original capture. I want to be able to move a whole simulation right and down,but I can't see any way to do it using background properties.Can anyone help?Thanks!Tom

So I am wanting to put a main menu navigation button on every slide. I am using a smart shape with the use as button option. The button works fine on every slide except hot spot question slides. Any idea why this might be happening, or suggestions for a workaround? I am using Captivate 2017. I noticed an old post for this problem but there were no responses so I thought I would try again. I'm on a Mac OS Sierra 10.12.3 running Adobe Captivate 9.0.2.437 EVERY TIME I hit Command Z to Undo, or hit Command + or Command - to zoom. Captivate does a small (yet annoying) beep. I can find no preference to stop this. Anyone out there with a fix (or the same issue)? You won't see the undo, redo, or zoom in this Captivate video, but the audio still applies. I installed captivate and when i open the program, the window appears that the test-version has finished. In the background is captivate opening and then it crashes with no information, about it.  An idea? many thanks!

Hello,I am working in Adobe Captivate 2019 in Windows 10.When I go to add the TOC and check the Show TOC  box, no slides appear. Then, if I try to click a different button within the dialog box or close the box, the application freezes and crashes. I have cleared my cache and that did not help the issue.Thank you.

Hi, I'm working on a responsive project which has quiz questions. The client wants to see the answer choices in one single line, instead of multiple lines. When I enlarge the textbox to accommodate the answer in one line, it looks fine in the desktop version. But when I test in the mobile version, the formatting gets messed up. I have included screenshots below. Anyway to resolve this issue? Thanks 

Hi,I'm using Captivate 6 to create a course in which there are three components, a demo, a try it, and a test. I have only configured the test click boxes to "Include in Quiz". Also, I set my quiz preferences as shown below.So basically our client wants an Incomplete ---> Pass/Fail reporting with the pass fail set at 80% (which I've done in the 'Pass or Fail' section of the Quiz preferences)I'm testing my results in SCORM cloud and they are as follows:When I click through my test passing it, SCORM Cloud reportsCompletions Status: "Complete"Success: "Passed"Score: "97.8%"However when I take the test and intentionally try to fail it, I get:Completions Status: "Incomplete"Success: "Unknown"Score: "44.28%"What I can't figure out is why 'Unknown'? Shouldn't this have been "Failed"? So I created a small dummy one-slide project with six boxes. Set all of them to be included in the quiz (so each box contributes 16.67%) when clicked and set a passing grade to 80%. I tested this on SCORM Clou

Good afternoon! I am using Captivate 2019 trying to publish my course for SCORM 2004. My LMS is requiring SCORM 2004 with Status Representation - Incomplete - Passed/Failed. However this is not an option when I have SCORM 2004 selected. With out this option the LMS will not be able to keep track of actual scores. This option is available for SCORM 1.2 but NOT 2004. At the end of the course it displays the score but does not send final numbers to the LMS. They are telling me its because I dont have status representation - Incomplete - Passed/Failed checked. I appreciate any input you can give. I have attached the screen shot of what my options are for SCORM 2004. And if you have any input of what my setting should be for SCORM 2004 that would be helpful. I dont really know what the stardards are.   

I am new to captivate and am creating some pretty basic projects.  I have created these slides in my projects that have buttons that when clicked, a text box will appear.  I have done this successfully in a few of my projects.  There is only one segment where only 1 of my 15 buttons will work.   I followed all of the same steps and checked my advanced actions.  I know this is super basic but I couldn't find anything on the chat that was specific to my challenge.  Any help is welcome.  Attached is an image of my page.
