Captivate

I have a client claiming Captivate 13 can create timed assessments. I think they are mixing up captivate classic and 13 as I have not found any means of adding a timer to a question pool.The client wants us to build a 25 question exam, and if the user doesnt answer all the questions in 30 minutes, the user is taken to their score.I dont think this is possible in captivate 13 but please let me know if there is a work around.

I am not able to publish as mp4 in Captivate Classic. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I have deleted all the Advanced Interactions and variables. Myself and one coworker are not able to publish as mp4. However, another coworker was able to do it on her laptop. I installed the application on my personal PC, and it WORKED. What is it about our 2 laptops that is stopping this process. The error is: SWF compilation Failed. Any ideas?

I have an audio problem. When I publish my Adobe Captivate File, the Audio Files on one of my slides are not playing. Although the play just fine when I used preview. I tried withe different formats such as wav and mp3, but no changes. All other medias in the document such as video files (mp4) are working just fine. The problem is only with the audio files.

I’m having difficulty copying an avatar from one project to another in Captivate 13.  Has anyone been able to do so or are there any suggestions? Thanks in advance

For context, I am currently using Captivate 12.3. When I publish my projects, I am running into a continued problem: the closed captions and the play bar are not scaling up or down in size when I zoom in or out when I play the project. This leads to my closed captions and play bar taking over the entire screen. Has anyone had this issue before or know how to solve it? No matter the size we make the closed captions, we still have this issue. Does anyone know any features or steps I am missing?

Our company uses Kaltura to host our videos. I am trying to set up the Web object to point to video on the site ideally with the embed code. Unfotuantly that isn’t working, so I tried the URL, which gives me a messaga saying I need to authenticate. Then I tired using the URL to our internal website and recieved a “failed to connet” message. Finally I tried using You tube’s url thinking that mayber there was something happening with our internal site, but that said failed to connect as well. Is there a setting I am missing?Thanks for any help in advance!

Hello, I’m experiencing an issue in Captivate (Not Classic Captivate) when trying to rearrange and group slides within the Table of Content (ToC) setting menu. The slides are sticking to my mouse when trying to drag or click to move. Additionally, this prevents me from grouping slides together in groups.  Course I am working on has several sections that I ideally want to group together in the ToC for easy user access. Updated to 13.0.0 version last month when this issue first appeared. It is affecting both brand new and old courses.  Only thing I can do is “hide” slides and rearrange via the arrows. Unable to group or create any levels due to the bug. Attached is a screenshot and a short video showing the error.Slide 3 won't release from mouse and cannot be rearranged or grouped. 

Hello everyone,This is a long shot but here we go…We have modules that have been working for years when published as SCORM in many LMS.We have a new customer who requires XAPI as their LMS is by REXX Systems.We have tried all kinds of XAPI settings but when uploading and starting the modules in the Rexx online test portal, the following occurs:  https://xapi-test.rexx-systems.com/Once the module is loaded but not yet started (i.e., when the "start icon" is displayed on a blank screen in a separate browser window), this error is already recorded at the bottom of the console (using the Chrome browser). According to AI analysis, it's possible that JCO needs to specify a precise Activity ID in the manifest of each module before publication, which is then stored in the "Tincan.xml" file. I assume it is related to the creative cloud issues poping up, but today around 4:00 all of the captivate review links my company has generated just say “Something went wrong. Please try again later”. On adobe status I cant find anything listing captivate but there is no other clear explaination of why they are not working.Is there somewhere I can look to see a captivate status? Just so we can know when it is our end vs adobes?

In CpC it was easy to set buttons and smart shapes to pause the project until the user clicks said button, however, I don’t see that function in Cp13. Am I missing somthing or does this feature no longer exist? 

When I use the included buttons in the Tab widget it does not allow the user to advance until they view all tabs. I want the user to be able to advance whenever they wish, even if they don’t view all slides. How can I make this happen?

I need a technical title block for my work. I created a template in Illustrator, using an XML export of the variable file, and it works perfectly—EXCEPT that when I copy the title block and paste it into my document, the variables are no longer linked. (The same thing happens when I use the Illustrator library.)

Every time I go to Edit, select Preferences, go to Quiz - the screen is grayed out.  I sent it .cps file to a colleague and he was able to access it with no trouble. Why would i have restrictions?  I need to set publishing to SCORM and complete the LMS field.  Currently, the course is going to completed near the beginning of the course.  I have searched for actions, and the quiz exit goes to the next slide.  There are no post test questions.  I just need to complete at the end and go to the LMS.  It does have some slides that are referenced if the learner clicks on a specific state.  Would that be causing completion to happen too early?

I had a course that had two review links… one of the review links was linked to a completely unrelated course. I assume that a user copied that file to create this new course and they shared the same LMS info.I attempted to unlink those two courses regarding review links (I only wanted to see the relevant review link in that courses review link list). And it would seem that I deleted the review link and all the comments that were on it… Is there a way of restoring it? If not, why isnt there?

I used Adobe Captivate 12.3.0.12 to create a project; my company gave out new computers and the Adobe captivate was installed. However, when I try to open a project created on the old laptop, it will not open; just spins. I am able to create new projects on the new laptop.  My IT support has tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Captivate and it has not solved the issue.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi All, I have an issue with a course that we have created, we only require a test section which we have created, this is 9 questions with a welcome slide and an exit slide. Only 11 slides in total (3000kb) however when we publish this there is no compressed Scorm file created and the file itself that is published is empty. We have double checked all the settings, enabled reporting is on, the file name is short but no success is publishing.This is captivate 13 we was wondering if there is a size limit now?Any help or pointers would be very welcome.

I am working with a small team on 19 ish captivate courses. We are more familiar working with articulate storyline where review 360 lets us publish to team folders to share review links.Currently we are finding that the review links generated by the new captivate are unstable, and can only be updated by the user that originally published it. Can I have some clarification on what would cause review links to break? - and to clarify what I mean when I say break, I mean 1 user creates a review link but then later a different dev needs to make an update to that course and wants to update the review link… only to find it is no longer connected to the previous review link… We’ve started sharing accounts to try and mitigate this, but sometimes the review links still break…For example, if I publish a review link, and my coworker hops in my account to update that review link… there is a 50% chance that they can’t update the review link I had before… This is a problem when we have other coworkers

 I have a project, and when a student finishes the course in the LMS, I need them to start from the first slide. I'm using a variable at the end that sends them back to the beginning, and depending on its value, they either exit the course or continue.

I'm testing the variable condition to detect the value of a variable used in a CP 2024 course, and after many tests, I've noticed that the "if" option isn't working correctly. Captivate doesn't recognize part of this condition and instead forces the user to enter it through "then."I used this feature extensively in CP 2019, and it always worked. Is anyone else experiencing this issue, or do you know if Adobe has identified a problem with this part of the interaction? Thanks.

Created a Captivate 13 course with 112 slides. Had the Completion rate set at 80% for the LMS system. There are a handful of users taking the course that have experienced it shutting down in about the same spot, approximately 80% through the slides. The LMS then generates a completion certificate and if they reopen the course, they have to start over, as it shows them as complete. Shouldn’t the user be able to take the entire course, regardless of completion rate? It seems it’s shutting down once they hit that 80%. The LMS team is telling me it’s most likely a setting in my captivate file. But it’s not happening to everyone taking it, just a handful of users. Any thoughts? 

I have uploaded a project to the Canvas LMS (not SCORM) but it has developed the “Loading...” issue, where playback stops after a couple of slides and does not resume.This issue has happened over the years but we have never been able to pinpoint the cause.  What exactly is “loading”?  And, why does it never seem to complete the loading process?All we have are the HTML files of the project - the Classic version of Captivate no longer runs on our computers.I’d hate to throw away years of work so I’d appreciate any insight into what we can look at in the HTML files to try and fix this.

Hi all,  I am having some issues with my eLearning project on 360Learning.  Although I have the “Never Send Resume Data” option unchecked in Captivate, whenever my learners exit the course midway through, when they relaunch it again on 360Learning they lose all progress. I have also been having issues with my course not showing up at 100% complete upon their completion, always showing up either as 50% complete or 80% complete.  I am using SCORM 20048 Version 4th Edition, and the platform is 360Learning.  Thanks. 

I have generated an avatar in Captivate 13, and everything works when I am creating.  When I publish, the avatar mouth doesn’t move when viewing.  Any ideas?
