Captivate

We have a client that requires a perpetual license for their e-learning tool. We hope the tool they choose will be Captivate and they have purchased an initial 2 licenses. On the download page it specifies that 11.5.5 is the version to use for serial key/ perpetual license. However their IT department have tried to install this and come back with the reply that this will not be possible on the test machine on a highly secure network. I thought perpetual license and serial would equal no network authentication, but cannot find any more information on the subject. Does anyone know more about this and possible limitations? Thanks Jorgen

I Googled (and tried the various fixes suggested e.g. clearing the cache, renaming the Captivate folder etc.) but the issue persists. I understand that this has been a problem with Captivate 8 (and possibly older versions too). Anyone has any ideas?

this might be a dumb question, but if I'm creating SCORM 1.2 compliant SCOs can I package them in a Multi-SCO on Captivate 12 or only on the 2019 release? 

Hi...I have 7 buttons on Slide 1 of my project that I have displayed for the "Rest of Project".  These items Tab correctly on Slide 1 when viewing the project.  However, on the rest of the Slides, the first item in the TAB order gets moved to the last item in the TAB order.  Has anyone seen this issue?  Do you know how to fix it?  

Hello! I am hoping someone may be able to assist. I have created custom navigation buttons which work fine.  The buttons are stored in one of my early slides and then are set to display for the rest of the project. All the buttons are set with the Hand Cursor and Disable Click Sounds options. On certain slides, I wanted to Disable the Next button and have created an Advanced Action to do that and also dims the button using the Apply Effect/Alpha option.  I have a corresponding action to Enable the Next button and uses the Apply Effect/Alpha button to return it to its normal state which also works fine. The issue is when the button is re-enabled, the Hand Cursor disappears and I cannot find a way to turn it back on. I prefer to have the Hand Cursor and Disable Click Sounds enabled for my buttons. Any suggestions?

Is the overlay feature in New Captivate only avialable through the bookmark feature? I can see thats how the overlay feature is used in one of the demo's that Captivate offers.I'm trying to set up a function where a user clicks an image and then opens up an overlay. But so far the overlay feature isn't an option to click. See picture below.Does anyone know a work around for this? Or does anyone know why this may be occuring? 

I'm trying to create a Roll over image effect without using the widget. So i tried using the button - A shape converted/used as button and modified the Rollover state (placed a desired image on roll over state).Removed the Down state.Action - Changed to "No Action".Still there is an issue after publishing.The hover effect happens successfully but when clicked on the button, the image flickers (The rollover image either goes off or on when clicked on the button).Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

When publishing the to xAPI and uploading in our LMS, there are underscores and dashes added to descriptions in the tincan. Does anyone know how we can solve this issue?       [Moderator moved the thread to the correct forum]

I've just received the latest version of Captivate at work.  I've not used it for years and am throwing together some system simulations - recording both the demo and training sim at the same time.  In editing the demo sim, I'd like to add additional text call outs when the system scrolls so I can explain what's on the screen.  Is there a way of being able to do this in a recorded demo as I'm struggling to see where I can do that.  Thanks in advance.

When I updated to a version 11.8.2.254. I lost the preview from this slide option.  Does anyone know how to resolve this.   Thanks.

I have a user that when they try to publish a project in Captivate it keeps crashing. Then the next day it will work or they can publish a different project. I've tried uninstalling and reinstall Captivate on their VM, which is running Windows 10. It might fix the issue but then comeback the next day with a different project. I've tired to have them rename the project a different name and it still crashes. Tried to clear captivate cache and that doesn't work. Tried to reboot the vm and clear the cache with no luck. Tried to redownload the project or try a different project but it still won't publish. Had them make a test project to see if maybe it was the projects they have to download and the test one they made would publish. The version of Captivate they are using is 11.5.5.553. We've also tried changeing Windows page files size to see if that would work by increasing the ram size but no luck there either. When Captivate crashes it doesn't give an error message either so no clue

Hello, Is it possible to use a 360 image within a wider mixed media elearning course e.g. a few slides of content, a quiz, a video and then an interactive 360 image? Or does it have to be a stand alone VR slide published out? Thanks, Lou

Hi, I'm new to Captivate and installed V12 recently. I'm creating an interactive module and added the tabs widget to my slide. I want the user to be able to jump to a slide when they click the image in the widget. But the interaction tab has the 'no entry' logo when I hover over it. Can you add interactions to elements in widgets in the new Captivate? Thanks

I have just received the latest version of Captivate at work to create some basic system simulations. The only option I have when I go to publish is to publish html. We want to be able to have users access it through SharePoint. Does anyone know if this is possible? I haven’t used Captivate for about 7 years so it’s looking quite different to the way it did back then! Thanks

Hi you all, I installed the new Captivate and I am exited, how clean and nice it looks. I am a teacher for tech and I mostly want to use Captive for Programmtraining. But the Simulation does not record my mouseclicks. I looked in Option and I clicked make a field by every mouse click, but it does not work. At the end I always only have one slide. When I open Captivate new and start a new Projekt, it records like two or three mouseclicks and then nothing. I work with a Surface Studio that has a high resolution monitor. In the last version I had to make the monitor with smaller pixels. I tried that and here also the mouseclicks do not record. Any ideas? Thank you very much. 🙂 

Good afternoon, all;  I have a slide with (slide) audio and a button on it that, in a perfect world, would allow the user to pause the slide and resume as needed. At the end of the audio the user is meant to click a click box to advance the project. At first, we tried to use the following simple advance action:  It works to pause and play the slide but the continue command in this advanced action seems to 'override' the pause on the click box. So if the user just pauses and then clicks play (once, twice, thrice, whatever), the project advances to the next slide, completely ignoring the pause on the click box. Hi Captivate community! This is my first post here, I am working on an E-Learning course with Captivate 11.8.2 (I'm happy to update once this course is done) Here is what I am trying to achive: A Drag&Drop Interaction with 8 drag targets and 8 drop zones. Each drop zone should only ever recieve 1 target (this works just fine). The user should only be abled to submit the interaction once - this does not work. The user can navigate back and forth through the course via buttons. Hi everyone!I am trying to use the new 2023 release of Captivate for a software simulation. In Classic, I can add Click Boxes, which cause the slide to pause or not move on to the next slide until after the user clicks in that area of the screen. I can't figure out how to do this in the new Captivate. Is this still a feature?

We are pleased to announce that we have released Captivate 11.8.   This release is a subscription-only release.   You must have an active subscription of Adobe Captivate to use the build. If you do not have an active subscription, the new update will revert to a trial mode. If you have already used your trial, you will be unable to use the build.   If you create a project with build 11.5.5 (Win/macOS), the project shall open in build 11.8. I am really struggling with adding custom images. No matter what size of image I select Captivate zooms in on the image and it will not display the entire image. I also cannot figure out any way to resize the image. I can just move the window around to see another portion of the image. Right now, I am trying to change out the images on a card widget and there is no way to tell what the image is because it is zoomed in so much. How can I add my own images and still retain the entire image? 

Hello, so I am looking for some help if anyone has any answers or thoughts on this.  I have recently got V12 and it seems to be wildly inflexible compared to 11.8.  It doesn't seem like the flexibility is there to do any of the following:*have a banner across the top with a company logo in the left corner as have text in the right corner linking out to external pages. Ie. A help page. *have content in the body of the slide and then also have a list of buttons on either side that can act as a "navigational menu" for the purposes of jumping around the project as required in a "choose your own path" manner instead of linear progression (in the case where there is generalised content but some can be skipped by certain audiences) As well as some other things.  Am I missing something?  It looks like the main cause of the inflexiblity is the absence of verticle blocks and the ability the resize blocks freely.  Does anyone have any ti

I want to create a replay button that completely resets the quiz before jumping to the first slide. I've use suggestions from the forum and I found that the javascript command cp.resetQuizData(); in and advanced action effectively clears out any replies to the quiz questions. What it doesn't do is reset the value of cpInReviewMode. That means that if students review the quiz questions from the results screen, then decide to replay the course, they can't attempt the quiz questions again. I tried adding a line to the advanced action to assign a value to cpInReviewMode to reset it. Unfortunately, cpInReviewMode doesn't appear in the drop down list of variables that appears with the Assign function. Is there another way to reset the value of this variable?
