I recently spent a bunch of time creating a character on my laptop. I moved the directory containing everything to my desktop. When I try to open it the message Can't import/open project "filename" because it was created with a newer version (1.0.5). It was not created in a newer version. All the versions are the same.Any thoughts on what I could do to open these propjects? Thanks
Hi,My puppet has a basic female body shape and then over that i would to be able to have different clothes, fashion changes.I would like the clothes to morph along with the puppet as one would expect. If Im correct, In this previous episode #3 (see time 22 min) this exact mock-up is displayed, there is rigging on a body group and within that is a dress group that contains the fashion changes. The demo only slightly moves the puppets arms so it's hard to know if it actually worked.I would like my puppets rigging to work as suggested in this video( see Time: 22 minutes)Obviously it is possible to overlay different outfits and affect them with keystrokes without any dragging rigging involved.I hope this demo (Ep.3 CH Live) just didn't have time to show this small but impossibly important detail. If it is possible that would be awesome!!!I did rearrange groups in order to re-create the same structure as in Ep. 3 (see Time 22min) but had no success. My puppet is built in illustrator
This is basically the error 😕😕 I recorded the audio in Adobe Audition, and then when trying to use the function of computing Lip Syinc this happens... can someone help me? Is this maybe because a bad installation of Character Animator on my computer? In case you cant read the error, it says: Internal error code: (70845333:3871+54) attempt to perform arithmetic on a nil value.
Here's an odd one: my lip sync wasn't picking up OOO and OHH lips very well. When I'd say words like "you" or "oh no" the lips would default to some other shape. I noticed those two shapes were the lowest layers under my Lips and on a whim, I dragged them to near the top. Voila, the lip sync now picked up both shapes much better. So it seems there is a "priority" to which lip shapes the program wants to use, in order of the layers top to bottom under Lips. Possible bug?
Hi,the template puppet (blue guy with Ch-logo) opened als .psd is working as it should. The .ai-version however, can move the pupil outside of the eyeball.Everything is tagged the same way.Interestingly, I dragged the .psd in Illustrator, saved it as a .ai, tagged the pupils and eyes to see if that helps. No. Pupils leaving the eyes once again.Hopefully this little fun fact can help somebody with the choice which template one spends hours of changing before realizing that there seems to be compatibility issues.
Is it possible to have 2-3 characters for live streaming? 2-3 separate people on webcams controlling their own characters in one single environment simultaneously?
how do i fix this? so image not cropped what am i doingwrong??????????
Hi -Curious if Character Animator is in a stable, usable form at this point - and how it compares to alternatives such as DUIK plugin for After Effects (AFX) and Reallusion's CharacterAnimator 3. Interested in full body animation, which could be 2D or 2 1/2 D (vs true 3D animation which I'm also considering). And lip synching would be a plus though not absolutely necessary - but wouldn't want to use it if it looked too mechanical. I will be putting everything together inside of AFX and Premiere - so workflow within AFX is a plus - though I'm fine exporting a png sequence from another program and then bringing in)Thanks for any insights or suggestions.
Hi all,I've just downloaded the Ch trial and watched a couple of You Tube videos, which make it look amazing. I can't wait to start but the interactive Get Started video has only sound, no images. Has anyone got any ideas why it's not working properly please?I'm running Win 10 with 8Gb ram and a Nvidia Geforce graphics card (not sure if that makes a difference?)Thanks a lotAnn
I think I may have turned off the body following along with the head, and i cant figure out how to turn it back on?the torso, legs, and arms are all separate and only the arms are independant, but the body still doesnt follow along with the head like the "making your first character" tutorial.any idea how to turn it back on?
I have created sticks and draggable handles in my character's arms and legs. They are warp-independent body parts. However, when I drag an arm handle, for instance, all body parts move. It is the same for any handle on any body part. No matter which one I choose to drag, all body parts with draggable handles react together. Why? I'm stumped. Also, the character's feet are fixed, but there is a slight drift when moving. Shouldn't they be perfectly still? .PSD and .chproj files available on request.
When selecting the main puppet layer, then clicking on the "show mesh" button, only the torso reveals its mesh. And the torso is a sublayer within the body. I can click on any individual sublayer and the mesh shows up, no problem But why doesn't the entire mesh appear en toto? Also, I have a bounding box issue. Here are screenshots of the mesh problem and the bounding box issue. Notice that the main character layer is highlighted and the "show mesh" button is activated. Also, look below the feet. Notice the elongated, superfluous area in the bounding box. Below is a screenshot of my Illustrator file with all objects selected by hitting Ctrl-A. Notice that there is no extraneous artwork in the AI file below the character's feet. So, why the extra space in the bounding box?
Over half of this episode is devoted to the community spotlight, including Twitch live streaming examples by Scribbleh & Moose, Digital Puppets showing off their latest innovative ideas with head turn triggered cycle layers and a 3D morphing mask, and a couple of unique recorded pieces. Then we talk about making custom mouth shapes, walking through the recent revised lip sync set that Red Monster went through for the live event. Finally we'll finish up with a few quick usability tips.0:00 Intro1:15 Community Spotlight14:02 Making Custom Mouth Shapes19:41 Quick Tips23:56 OutroLinks:Scribbleh: http://twitch.tv/scribblehDigital Puppets: http://digitalpuppets.co.ukHead turn trigger tutorial: https://youtu.be/2cBoIM0phiYMaspast: http://youtube.com/maspastMoose: http://twitch.tv/mooseplayLondon Tinker: http://londontinker.comGreg Fish: http://gnpi.org
Hello,I have Ch installed on my 6-core, 4.5GHz, 64GB RAM PC, and it takes about 10 minutes to compute 3 minutes of lip sync (Compute Lip Sync from Scene Audio). If I look at the processor usage, Ch is only using around 1% of available processing power. I've also checked my GPU usage, in case Ch is offloading the work to my CUDA graphics cards, but no, it's not doing that. The source audio is on a fast SSD, so that's not the source of the slowdown. So what's going on? How can you write some code that runs so incredibly slowly, and, more importantly, is it likely to be improved? I could understand Ch maybe using one processor at 100% if it's some old code not written to take advantage of multi-processor systems, but that's not the case.
The project is fine in Illustrator but when I open ACA this is what the character looks like. Why is this happening? All of the layers are everywhere and I didn't change their positions.
Hello, The following two error messages display upon startup of Character Animator and I cannot use the software. I can eventually import a puppet if I click OK multiple times every 3-4 seconds but I just cannot create a scene. I have tried deleting the project folders, turning off all cloud based syncing, and reinstalling the software but still get the same result. Any thoughts on how to correct this? -Dell Latitude E5470-16 GB RAM-500GB SSD hard drive (108 GB used)-Intel i5 2.4GHZ-Windows 10 Enterprise
Hi, bit of a newbie question here. Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.Firstly, this is an awesome technology to have access to and I can't wait to get things working properly!I have had a character made by an Illustrator and they have provided me the .ai file.I am having issues in Character Animator getting it to work the way I expected (although the layers are supposed to have been grouped / named properly). The file is pretty complex with 3 stage head turn, a head nod, arms that point, Initial issues are as follows:The face floats away from the hair that is in a group behind the face.I also want to get the head to turn by face tracking (I downloaded a sample that did just that?)I have headline groups of Head, Body, Hair.Hoping someone can point me in the right direction!I believe from one of OK Samurai's fantastic video I want my character to work like the sample "Cassadra" as I have seen that working in the way I imagined. When I import the sample Cassandra to see what I am doing di
Red Monster will be answering your questions live in about an hour at Red Monster Live! - YouTube . Hope to see you there!
I made a new puppet with Photoshop. and I dragged the file to the character animator project panel, but nothing happened. So I tried [File]- [Import] Choosing the file. Then the error code appeared 'Internal error code:(1682591070:1745+15)'I don't know this error code. I have been using other puppets from the past. There was no problem when I importedPlease tell me the solution.
Hi everyone,I'm doing a project with a character that I plan to make very complex, but I don't know how far I can go and if there are any tricks to make this work better. Right now my character has simple face expressions (angry eyebrows, smile, no lipsync) and 34 hair groups that dangle individually. It works great, but when I make four more groups of the head (right and left profile, right and left quarter) my actual FPS when I record is no longer 12. It's between 0,5 and 2 FPS. Does anyone have some tips and tricks that will make my project possible?Chris
Hello! How can I organise my puppet to be able to drag the right arm over his face? This is how I have him organised now:
I've been using the tutorial on building first puppet in Illustrator, and it's going well. During the building of the body, however, the outline mechanism when grouping or selecting, etc. started showing up in red. I didn't think it was problematic, and maybe it isn't, but when I finished building the torso, arms, legs, and feet, and opened it in CH, the poor guys arms and legs and horns were all in a pile. As if I had cut them up and dumped them into a bag. I have a screenshot. What would cause such a catastrophic accident? This is an Indy project for College so any help you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Cece
I've been learning how to use CA now for months and I'm really enjoying the process.I created a few puppets and today finally got some of the scenes into After effects for video editing- but my backgrounds and closeups (of my puppets) were pixelated. I know this has to do with the correct sizes for the puppets in Illustrator- I've been creating them at 3000x3000 pixels, shouldn't that be big enough? I saw in a tutorial video that the puppet was mad in 1500x1500pixels size, and it didn't have any pixelation (I think the tutorial was making a video for youtube- my video was an HD full version so maybe that's why I'm getting pixelation)...What is the "best" puppet size to use when creating one in Illustrator? I have a new iMac so I'm not afraid to push on upping the size so as to not get any pixelation...
I've been playing around in Character Animator for months now, I was just thinking I finally got a hand on things. So this is Tati. My plan is to use this character for a channel where I cover football news. She is the first character I created where I use the head turner and have side profiles, but this is also the first one where the eyes don't track at all. She won't even blink. Lips sync perfectly, the draggables work, everything pinned. It's just the eyes won't track. I think the tags look right. I clicked on the pupil in the second screenshot to see. Is it because I have side profiles? I really wanted to use the Funkenstein puppet as a reference but it doesn't appear to be in the free puppet files any more. Any Suggestions?
I have a mid 2012 mac tower running 10.11.6 with an ATI Radeon 5770 card.I'm using a Logitech c920 USB webcam. The camera function is working fine but I cant get it to record audio. It gives the above error.
