hello...Working in Macromedia DW 2004...obviously need to upgrade. Downloaded CC 2018 trial version, only to find it's no longer a true WYSIWYG app.I design by 'drawing' layers (divs), not by having to place them strategically in the code...I design like a graphic illustrator would; & then fine tune the whole business in Code View. [& that newest version is also missing different ways to manipulate text (e.g., italic, bold, font size, etc.) easily].So...unless I'm missing something here...& there is indeed a simple 'Insert Layer' button somewhere I've failed to pick up on...can someone please tell me when this function was thrown out (so I can get the previous year's release)?thanx,dox
I am trying to live Preview a site in Mozilla Firefox through Dreamweaver but it says I am running it through a external source. I have a site Defined in the root folder of the website but it says it is external. I have always used the "GO TO DETAILS PAGE" to create my EDIT and DELETE pages. Under SERVER BEHAVIOR that option no longer exists in CS6.

I would like to make another version of my webpages that use a template.How do I do this. When I copy and paste my htmls and .dwt, the old .dwt still has control over my new htmls.When I detach the template from my htmls, and try to attach the new template, when making changes to the new template, it only updates the htmls that are open, not giving me the prompt to update all htmls.Thank you.This post moved from Adobe Experience Cloud to Dreamweaver support forum. Hello from Germany - my english is not the best but I will try! I have got problems with dreamweaver. 5 or 6 Years ago my girlfriend made our website and these days we wanted to write a last Blog entry because we have a new website @Jimdo. A similar entry as we wrote before (monthly). But suddenly, after years, the access seems to be blocked. Now there is a small window and I have to write the serial number. But the serial number of this product ("Product Code", begins with letters) is incompatible (Adobe CS 5.5 Design Premium Student and Teacher Version). So now i can not use this and for this product there is no more support. When i make a click on "buying this product" there is an adwise that the software maybe is not an original software and this is the reason why it is blocked. Thats definitely not possible because we bought it on the Adobe platform! The support notes do not help me, does anyone know a possible solution? I have been trying to synchronize files in Dreamweaver. There is the dialog box at the bottom putting/getting files I do not want, but I cannot access the dialog box. When I click on it, it immediately goes away. I've been having this problem all day. I had to shut down the program. I have had so many issues with the CC version of Adobe, I understand they want to be sure people upgrade, but upgrading and paying more should also mean a better version with all the bugs fixed.
I am trying to put this photo (the blue people ) in the background. The second one is the one that is appearing on the internet. I used to have this up and now it is not working when I placed it on the internet. It even shows up in dreamweaver when i go live! Please someone help! This is the first site I've created with Dreamweaver CC. I find it much less user friendly than the old CS version, but I'm presuming that's because of the need for everything to be responsive these days. i'm having lots of problems but slowly getting there with the new site. The current problem is Firefox displays some of my links in the wrong color. i'm using a Dreamweaver starter template to get myself going. I added some .css code to style the links. It works fine on one section of the page in most browsers but on another section the colors show incorrectly in firefox only. Could I have put the link-text styling rules in the wrong part of the Css file? I'm very hazy with css.
In coding I have come across a selection of links I want to be editable ONLY in the templateCan I have something in the code to mark this area as non-editable in the standard editing section instead of having to split the editable section.Or am I going about this wrong - Should I be making the links a private page or something?
I don't use Keychain on my MAC.Dreamweaver CC 2018, keeps asking to save my FTP password and accessing keychain.How can I turn this off?thank you.
Trying to correct bad links and hyperlink doesn't seem to work like earlier versions. In live format it won't let me just insert a hyperlink by highlighting a word and inserting the link. What are the new steps?
on DW4 (I know outdated but it still does what I need)In the code view when I highlight something and hit ctrl-C it highlights the rest of the adjacent code and copies all of it.for example if I just select picture.gif from the below code as soon as I hit ctrl-C all of it gets highlighted and copied<img src="picture.gif" alt="pictre" width="161" height="100">If I go to another non-dreamweaver window and copy anything on that page then go back to dreamweaver it will allow me to select just the text I want to copy but only one time then it goes back to selecting the entire chunk of code.it just started this morning.ideas?
I've contacted my web host on 4 different occasions and was told the problem was "fixed." I take an entire Bootstrap template and nicely unzip and insert all the folders. Everything looks just as it should from the bootstrap template. Here's where it gets odd: all the images/photos I replace with what I want and it quickly works okay and re-takes the spots that I wanted them to replace. So those work fine. But everything else i edit (text, title, drop boxes, etc) is NOT replacing or working at all when i save and put. SURE it works on Dreamweaver, but not on the actual webpage. What could be causing this? My host says this is fixed and I don't know whom to believe now Anyone else have this happen? And since the files are transferring and replacing they are right in that respect. Just odd how I can change the files but not the text (and others) each time I "save" and "put" And when I open the page up on my PC - not online - you can see some changes are made (see attached video) v
I have successfully connected Dreamweaver for a project where my own files are located in my Document folder. I am starting a new GitHub Repository for a whole different organization now so it is totally separate from the other one, I know everything plays nice from My Documents, but since we will be using Creative Cloud extensively for sharing graphics files I am considering placing my Dreamweaver files in the Creative Cloud Drive too so the whole project keeps everything in one place. Has anyone tried doing this and do the two play nicely with each other? I know that saving files in Illustrator when located there is a little slower, but no issues other than that. I am hoping the same can be said for DW files.
Hello. New website with a Bootstrap 4 Carousel placed from the dreamweaver insert panel. Added code from Mailchimp for a pop up 'Sign up' and this stops the carousel from working.Is this a Javascript conflict? If so how do I get around it?Thank you kind peeps...Joe
Okay, go ahead and yell at me for not upgrading my DW since CS3, but having made the jump to CC my brain is about to explode with all the changes.Can anyone recommend a simpler way of adding vertical or horizontal space around objects - for wrapping text? My former program had a 'selection properties' layer that allowed you to choose Left or Right placement, and a V and H space slot - all on one convenient bar. Now I'm told you have to set this up through CC Designer tab.Your advice here is greatly appreciated.
New layout navigation is not very kwel!How do I drag and drop a hyperlink to an internal document to be downloaded?I am still looking for the quick easy way. I can hard code it... BUT THAT IS NOT THE PURPOSE of the the fast drag and drop the arrow here item which I can no longer find.
I actually still use the 2007 Mac version of DW because it was the last version I did not have to bother/ learn CSS. I have an old html site and still love the simplicity of that version.With Mac going to 64 bit software, eventually it may not work, hence, What is last 64 bit version of Dreamweaver?And is there a 64 bit html editor very similar? I have done loads of research and either the examples are not good enough or I'm incredibly thick.I have tried to set up different samples myself to determine the differences between these column names and have found no change in characteristic between the xs column widths and the md column classes.Basically I understand that there are twelve columns on any device whether it be a midget mobile or a 50 inch monitor - fair enough.However I had my page split up with a heading for three columns of equal width.I wanted it to be three across on a large screen, or single column on a mobile.Hence I tried an example with <div class="col-xs-3 col-sm-3 col-md-6 col-lg-12">I tried to do another page with a two column split with the left column two wide fixed and the other 10 being flexible .I had the rest of the content in the right hand column all in divs set at 5 wide so that they overlapped and went to the next row if they did not fit.What I do not understand is when to use the different
Let me explain.My responsive page will have a column to the left which will have artists name.Each artist will have a separate page which will just have their paintings and inscriptions on it.I do not want to have to load the main page every time, I don't want to use a frameset as I think this is outdated now.Hence when I click on an artist in the left column, I would like the link to contain the link to that artists page (with responsive code to split into two columns) and load it into the right responsive pane.Obviously there will be no row classes in the artists page so any content will simply overlap to the next line if the browser being used is not wide enough.How could I achieve a l ink to load a html page into the div.Many thanks in advanceTerry
My webmaster has set up my FTP access in Dreamweaver's site settings: "Remote Server" is my testing environment, and the "Testing Server" is the live server. Understandably, I feel this is error-prone and somewhat confusing. He won't change it and I don't want to touch his settings.Is there a away to rename the default server names in Dreamweaver itself to something more meaningful?
Not sure my title is correct, but here's what I want to do.I have to build a site from scratch for a college class, I can't use DW. (Will probably use Notepad++) It's going to be a huge site eventually, and I will move to using Dreamweaver the minute the class is over.My question is, what is the best way to do this so I can move to using a main template once I jump into DW? It will be about 15 pages when I turn it in for the class, so I know redoing that many isn't insurmountable, but I would love to just start with a way to easily do this if it's possible.I use DW CC if it matters.Thanks for any advice!
I have just started exploring grids but whenever I use fr in the grid-template-columns I get an error message of "unexpected token".The grid seems to work so wondered what this is all about?Ian
A number of my earlier, existing websites are linked to/supported by identical graphic images and css files. I do this by placing those resources in directories located one level above the site home folders. This makes for easier maintenance.Now I would like to create a new website using DW 18.1. I'm having a degree of difficulty doing this within the conventional DW workflow. 18.1 is still new to me, and I am trying to get accustomed to it. At this point I believe that some hand-written files will need to be created/edited in order to realize this goal.If anyone has ideas on how I might go about this within DW 18.1, I would appreciate hearing from you.
